This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopped
by a J.Crew store this past weekend
to see what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS
{sigh!} in person, maybe you
might be willing to
share that with us in this post. In
particular, if you could share
with us a few of the noteworthy items
that are available, at what
prices, and potential sizes the
store is carrying (as well as the
store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also, please
let us know if your local store
was/ is carrying an additional
percent off sale. Thanks in
advance!!! :)
Epic J. Crew weekend! I went to NYC and Fri happened to walk by a huge sign on 5th ave saying there was a J. Crew sample sale!! So I headed there yesterday on the last day and all products were extra half off meaning t's were $7.50, blouses $12.50, pants $20. It was heaven they had racks upon racks of stuff they said was replenised throughout the sale. They had a lot of samples and past season stuff and a few current season, and some factory and madewell items as well. The pants seemed to be mostly small sizes. I got 5 tops for $55. What a great time. Has anyone been to this?
ReplyDeleteonly in my dreams. wish all this stuff would make it to sale section in retail stores.
DeleteHow fun! It's on my wish list for sure, especially now that the clearance centers have closed. It was going on the last time I was in NYC but I ran out of time. One of these days!
Delete@RN, 260 Fifth Ave. hosts this J.Crew sample sale twice a year, once in June and again in early December. I know a few JCAs have gone/were talking about it recently. I work nearby so I stopped by on both Tuesday and Friday. Didn't find anything on Tuesday (lots of Samples/mostly size 6s and prices weren't steals), but I bought a couple of tops on Friday, including a silk button-down from Madewell ($28). The air conditioning wasn't working great on Friday and it was kind of a nightmare!
DeleteIn previous years, I've found one or two good things, but I feel like this place overprices some of the items so you really have to look and know your J.Crew prices. Some good deals for sure -- saw a pair of Leopard Calf-hair D'Orsays for $70 (those retailed over $200 on sale). But they seem to carry mostly one-offs. (I also spied a mint green tulle skirt from this year for $40!)
Either way, glad you had fun, sounds like you found some really great deals!! I've never gone on the weekend so it's good to know that prices dropped even further (on Friday, they were 30%, with button-downs coming down to $17.50).
As TM93 says, this is a regular occurence for us NYers. It is a total crapshoot - can be bad or good. This June's was on the better side. In the past I've picked up samples that had SHarpie marks inside, or a random hole cut out of the back, or last June when I got a production wool Jackie with embroidered palm print, and then didn't notice until I got home that one elbow was embroidered but not the other (AARRGH). The worst part is no mirrors or try-ons (unless you sneak it). A few of my favorites I've picked up from there are Collection shoes, a sample wool cardigan with an argyle print overlaid with a dog print (have never seen this in production), and a sample cashmere T-shirt with an embroidered peter pan collar. Usually there's 50% markdowns on the final day of the sale. I went by Sunday and picked up a JCxNB tank ($7.50), JCxNB leggings ($20, currently on the website for $95), a sample Saint James mariniere ($12!!) and a sample Liberty popover in Wiltshire (also $12.50!). 4 third party collab items for $52 - I was pretty pleased.
Delete@eeps, yes on the no mirrors or try-ons allowed!! Frustrating -- at least allow us a couple of mirrors! That's really good to know about the 50% on the last day.
DeleteAgree that they're hit or miss - I've personally done better during previous sales (my fave find was a brown silk Sample button-down shirt with that snail print from a few years ago.) Definitely fun to look! Sounds like you did really well this year, woot woot!
I am actually glad I was only able to go to the last day of the sale since it was all half off...the prices before the half really would not have beeen much better than buying clearance in a regular store.
DeleteRN - I agree. Sometimes the online price is better than the sample sale price. Before I get on line to pay, I go to a corner and google everything I'm about to buy. I also do it to look up the reviews for items that I can't try on, for size and fit reviews.
DeleteThis year's sale was a miss for me...I thought there was a lot less selection in terms of sizes and overall desirable items than in past years, but I'm glad others were able to pick up some nice things.
Deletei have a code for extra 15% off (expires june 30)... can be used with another promo code.

DeleteOT, but has anyone checked out the Nordstrom Anniversary sale catalog yet? It's on the website. I must say I was really disappointed. Hardly any handbags--usually they have whole pages dedicated to designer handbags! J.Crew did make an appearance on one page and Madewell on another so those partnerships must be going strong.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up. Not excited that the cold shoulder and bell sleeve trends are sticking around for fall. I hope there are additional items in the sale not covered in the catalog.
DeleteI agree Holldoll129. Where is Tory Burch this year. I usually have a lot on my wish list but not so much this year. Most of the handbags are tote style and there are few cute crossbody bags. Oh well. I will look on the bright side and say this will allow more $$ for Jcrew Fall.
DeleteI noticed the large majority of the sale items are nordstrom in-house brands.
DeleteI posted some looks from the Nordstrom sneak peek on my instagram. There are two pages with looks Jcrew and Madewell in the catalog that I posted as well.
DeleteAnyone have a 15% off code. If so email carmendvalera at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteAre the stores still 50% off sales? Does anyone know... thanks so much
