Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Stores are 50% off sale and you can order online in store with 50% off too. Picked up tortoise link & tassel necklace & smocked off shoulder black beach cover up dress. Can wear dress out with a half slip or shorts. Will take on vacation. Saw necklace in Paris and made a mental note to purchase if it made sale. Very pretty & lightweight. Colors seem more fall than spring/summer. Going to check out Costa Mesa store this weekend since I'm headed there for a conference.

  5. I think this article sums up how some of us long term fans feel about the current state of J. Crew.

    4. I had to lol at this,"Although I would have been loath to admit it at the time for fear of being marked frivolous, a fair amount of my adolescent growing pains had do with discovering my personal style."

Clothes are nice and all, but this individual sounds about as deep as a puddle.

  6. Stopped in and left with the Tippi sweater in diver print. My store had 50% sale and I had a 15% bounce back card so $27 after tax. As much as I try to be more thoughtful about my purchases I still enjoy a quirky print at a good price!

  7. I was at the store last night. Sale was also 50% off. I picked up the grey Signet bag and the grey lucite necklace. Not a lot in my size in my sale section and I have placed a few online orders this week which I was able to have adjusted to the 50% off.

I received the full-length linen pant today in navy and oh how I love these. I took my regular pants size (1 up from my shirt size) and they are gorgeous. They have a wider leg with a beautiful drape and I'm 5'8" and they are still full length with 3.5" heels. I am looking forward to wearing these! I posted a quick photo on my latest Instagram story @fablifeforever

    1. I didn't see the instastory (not quite sure how these work, I see them sometimes and other times not) but I wish they did them in black again like they did last summer. I got the Rhodes which are ankle length and great, but full length linen pants can really be dressed up or down.

  8. OT, but I don't think anyone is going to read the other retailers thread at this point. I just picked up the Riley Fit Denim Bow Shirt at Banana Republic. It's a really soft and stretchy (97% cotton/3% spandex), and the bow is removeable (I'll never use it!). At 50% off sale it was only $29 CAD. Very fitted, would be great under a blazer. I sized up to a 14.

    1. Went to a different BR today and scored more clearance goodies: Scalloped Merino sweater for $25 CAD, Cotton Sateen Logan pants for $30, and a cute top I can't find anywhere online so I don't know the name of it for $20. I can't remember the last time I bought so much at BR at once, possibly it's never happened before, but there are some real steals in their sale section right now.

    2. Thanks so much for posting shopgrrrl! I purchased two of the scalloped merino sweaters this past winter and loved them. Just purchased 5 more for just under $95(usd). Extra 10% off w/my old navy card and I had $5 in rewards. These are going to replace my stack of Tippis I have been holding on to. The Tippi never was never a great match for me as I always seemed in between a small and a medium. Also the bracelet length sleeves bother me in the dead of winter when it cold. Hope they all ship! This will be a great purchase for me.

    3. Wow, JessF, you really scored! I would have bought more if they'd had them in my size, but between the two stores there was only one size L, and the CDN online store is pretty much sold out as well. Glad you could take advantage of the great deals.

    4. Thank you for posting this! I'd like to try the scalloped merino sweater, do you ladies take the same size as in the Tippi? Thx :)

    5. Jan I normally am a small or 4/6 in J. Crew tops and a small in the BR sweater fits me great.

      Delete
    6. I compared my new Tippi to my new Scalloped Merino sweater and found them pretty similar, with the Scalloped Merino being slightly roomier. I have L and XL Tippis, but would stick to L for the Scalloped Merino.

  11. I originally tried the vintage plaid boyfriend shorts in my smaller shorts size and didn't like them on me as the waist sat a bit higher and didn't feel as comfortable. Saw them on sale so I tried one sz up (my bigger shorts sz) and really liked them. They sat lower on my waist and felt comfortable. Love the preppy plaid so I'm glad I retried them and the price is great now.

    1. I love the line about clothes being for the woman who wanted to "ungirdle herself". I feel that is a mental and physical metaphor, I want to ungirdle myself most days.

    2. Excellent article! JCAs have been posting links to some wonderful reads lately that really shine a light on why J Crew has become such a disappointment to its loyal core customers. It seems so obvious but the siren song of fast fashion must be too strong.

    3. thank you, maqsad, thoroughly enjoyed this!
a long time ago, in a dentist's office, paging through ancient issues of Esquire, i came across this gem: the best way to dress is as if you had better things on your mind. This had to have been written in the days before overloaded bling and "got dressed in the dark" - because the author assumed readers wouldn't want to look as if they had planned what to wear. The 70s, a/k/a the Decade that Taste Forgot, have a lot to answer for.

I note that Jacobs did not turn to rompers or jumpsuits (adult onesies) for comfortable workwear.

And I note that the term A-line is properly used, as opposed to, say, this.

    4. WFF, Amen! I feel like I've been stuffing my face at the buffet for years (I have). Feeling not a little ill (& chastened) myself...

Totally agree with you on the appropriate use of sartorial terms, including A-line

    5. For the woman who could afford to- in multiple ways, I think. That was for women of a certain realm, but now it seems the standard of ungirdled is wearing gym clothes everywhere. Can having classy, beautiful and practical clothing be too much to ask for today?

      Delete
    6. I go to the gym multiple days a week. It's easier just to wear the gym clothes. I don't think it's classless.

      Delete
    7. I do too, but I don't think that's what Sarah means.

      Delete
    8. I didn't intend to mean it's classless to wear those clothes. I'm not an elitist (or of the upper classes myself). What I mean is that, to be comfortable outside of workout days or hours, a lot of people would want to wear yoga pants and sneakers. My intent was to say it will be interesting to see clothing and culture evolve. Athleisure wear is addressing the casual side. Will workwear adapt?

      Delete
    9. Very interesting point. I can almost hear Carrie Bradshaw asking, "can one be comfortable, yet still look pulled together?" I appreciate athliesure for what it is (gym days, hanging in my house...errands after the gym) but as I get older I wonder if I will lean more towards that Eileen Fisher aesthetic. It doesn't suit my shape now but I do think it's very chic.

      Delete
    10. Interesting discussion. I never understood athleisure until this year. I gained weight in the past year and most of my bottoms don't fit. One Sunday I decided to run errands in leggings and a tunic - first time in my adult life when I wore leggings as bottoms by themselves (usually I wear them under pants or tights in freezing temps). As soon as I started walking down the street I was like ooooh wow now I get it. I was so comfy... and I felt a bit guilty about it. Now I don't fault people for choosing to wear sweats or LulaRoe on their days off, although I did tell one of my nieces wearing workout clothes to Sunday lunch that she's too young to give up on style (she's 9 and I was joking with her).

  14. I feel like my store rarely does the 50%, but I'll check in. I am going in for the 40% off swim, short, and shirts event. There are some full price swim and shorts I am interested in. Swim often sells out in the small and mediums before they hit clearance.

    1. Hi Jessica, does your store carry swim? I've never seen swim in stores. I was recently in Florida and couldn't even find swim suits there. I Wish the 40% was online too.

      Delete
    2. They don't which is why I find the event so funny. It's in store only, but everyone will have to order online from in store.

      Delete
    3. My NYC store had some Swim items last Friday when I went in - I noticed since they didn't last year. I wonder whether it was in anticipation of this sale event.

      Delete
    4. @Jessica, I hope you find some things at the store event!
@TM93, that is interesting I wonder if other stores received swim.

We keep the sale swim wear returns and put them in the sale section.

  15. Went in to make a return and came home with the Tippi with embroidered palm trees from clearance. And for once my store was 50% off clearance, which was a nice bonus, it doesn't seem to happen there as often as at some of the US stores mentioned here on JCA.

    1. @JSR, my online vps mentioned a small rollout on July 5. I wonder if it will be the last one for summer items?

      Delete
    2. @jan, I bet they'll include this dress, which is currently only showing up in Petite and Tall:

      https://www.jcrew.com/p/womens_special_sizes/petite/dresses/petite-tieneck-dress-in-rainbow-gingham/g6021?isFromSearch=true&color_name=rainbow-multi&N=0&Nloc=en&Ntrm=tie-neck%20dress%20in%20rainbow%20gingham&Npge=1&Nrpp=60&Nsrt=0&hasSplitResults=false&mode=sidecar

Another JCA said her store was already carrying it in Regular. I bet this will be last rollout for summer, in any case.

      Delete
    3. yes, I was told that the July rollout will be the first "pre-fall" rollout with transitional items and then the rollout in August will be full on fall.

      Delete
    4. I saw the rain bow dress and it looked cute on the hanger.

      Delete
  18. Yes, I saw the button-front ruffle top in the gingham rainbow at the Brookfield Place store. Wanted to love the top for summer but made me look chesty in an unflattering way.

If you are headed to the beach, putting in some good words for the SZ blockprints drawstring skirt and scalloped linen-cotton beach pants. The skirt is versatile and can be worn throughout the summer with the cotton vintage t-shirts. Looks good with the red strapless cross-front top.

Will be away and won't be using my 15% OFF code: MBBFCA5NW. Enjoy!
