  1. Even though the fine print says women's collection is not included. It seems like all the Collection pieces I've come across so far have been included. Maybe it's a glitch? If so, and you want a Collection item I'd check it out this morning before they fix it.

    1. I think the fine print means "select Collection" pieces are not included. It says select cashmere, women's Collection, etc. I think the "select" is the qualifier for the whole category of exclusions.

  2. So so bummed :( I just got an email saying my Slaid plaid d'orsay flats were cancelled and they have no more left in stock :( I waited over a week to hear from J.crew about this item, when I called they assured the item would ship this week and then just now I got email saying it was cancelled!

To console myself I tried to order the Chateau Parka online with the discount but its STILL EXCLUDED! Wtf J.crew. Your ad LITERALLY says "including stuff that's never on sale"!

    1. That is such a drag. Those were the shoes I loved, too. But I didn't pull the trigger immediately and so there will be no new holiday shoes for me this year. You know what I find odd? Clearly these shoes (and the plaid heels) were deemed to be popular - why didn't they make MORE????? Weird.

    2. I know it is weird!! Customer service said they aren't going to get anymore in stock and my best hope is to look for a popback. Guess J.crew is trying to be all exclusive with their holiday stuff this year. Which doesn't really make any sense because they would be making more money if they just offered more of those items! I know I would be first in line to buy a pair if they came back in stock!

    3. Some of the phone customer service reps seem to be completely unaware of the return and inventory process. I just ignore them and continue to monitor and ask if something is in stock.

I don't know, maybe I have low ethical standards, but I'd probably try to get them to honor the discount on the parka to make up for the flats. It's not so much that they over sold them, but that they told you they would ship. I hate when JCrew customer service assures you of information, that they are clueless about. I would much rather they say they are unclear and that they will check on it and get back to me.

    4. After college, I worked in customer service (hell that it is) and there are some things you just don't do.

    5. Drg - are these the plaid flats with a silver bow? I just saw it at the SF store, on display in a 6...try calling them to see if they have your size. I saw it a couple hours ago...

    6. Yes the plaid flats with a silver bow! I think autocorrect changed the name in my original post. I am a 9 in jcrew shoes so will call them now and see! thank you!!

  3. This is kind of OT for this post but I just wanted to say that I received the Factory tartan wool skirt yesterday (the same classic black/red/blue plaid all over retail right now) & it is LOVELY. Well-made, great fit, lined, super-soft. I like that the Factory skirts have the same silhouette that the retail skirts used to have before they changed the design. I can't wait to wear it in the upcoming month!

The model at the top of the skirts page is wearing it as well. It's $47.50 today & you can still get 20% off your $100 purchase with the promo code MYGIFT.

  4. So glad I ordered yesterday. The pants I ordered yesterday are now final sale. As wonky as the pants are fitting these days, they should never be final sale in my opinion.

    1. Me too. The pants I wanted had a ONE day window of not final sale. Now they are kicked over into the 50% category so once i received them I could always reorder and not get burned by FS.

  5. Some of the Thomas Mason for J Crew shirts are included. If you have never tried one...once you have one you will want more. They are lovely cotton. C

  6. Several dresses that I had saved are now mysteriously missing from the website- even when you google them, the pages literally no longer exist, if something (even from years ago) is googled, it will say 'sold out' if unavailable. I think they removed them so people wouldn't complain when they didn't include them. Hate when they do sneaky things like that.

  7. I took advantage of the free ship/no minimum to order a sale top yesterday, and will probably place another order at some point before the holiday weekend is over. I seriously debated getting the wool cutout top yesterday, but after getting measurements and finding out it's only 23" long (supposedly), decided against it. I am, however, looking forward to reviews from all the JCAs who did order it, and will hope for a popback if it ends up being a winner.

OT: For the first time ever, I have decided to share some Holiday Gift Guides on my blog. So for those interested, the first one can be seen here. I've got another one scheduled for later today, then a couple more to follow this weekend. :)

  8. I took advantage of the free ship for sale items as well. If they decrease on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, I will call CS and attempt an adjustment.

  9. My quest for black pants continues, so today since they became available, I ordered the cropped black wool flannel trousers, the wider ones. Today I should receive the straighter (yet still wide) collection ones. And two other pairs! Luckily none final sale.

    1. Full length pant in bi stretch wool-- these are the ones I am most in love with. The price is fabulous. The fit is very flattering.

  10. I picked up the collection wool flannel trousers in black which went on sale plus the 40% off, not final sale and I've been wanting to try these but not for their original price. Also bought a tippi sweater in garnet flame, I haven't tried the new Tippi this year so we'll see how I like it.

    1. I got those too! I really liked them but out of all think I prefer the full length wool trousers with stretch--they have the side zip. (And were the least expensive of all.)
The pleated crop collection ones are beautiful but make me look really rectangular. The back looks great but the pleats in the front are odd.

  13. I'm in love with the Chateau parka in stadium-cloth, but J.Crew Factory has the comparable Vail parka. Has anyone tried both and can comment on how they compare fit- and warmth-wise? I'd like something that I can wear in 30-50 degree temps with minimal layering (like Madewell's City Grid coat).

    1. Hi Kimi. I reviewed the Chateau parka last year. There are some design elements on the retail version that aren't on the factory Vail (e.g. zigzag stitching down placket). I own the Vail in navy and love it. I haven't done a blog post of it, yet. The a-line is less pronounced and the faux fur isn't as voluminous on the Vail. Those were two things that I didn't personally like about the Chateau. I felt that the retail overwhelmed me whereas the Vail is scaled better for me (5'0"). I usually take 4 or 6 or 6P in J. Crew coats with a 6P. Oh, as far as warmth, I'm in a mild climate. The low 50s can be low for us. However, it's been in the 40s in the AM lately and I put it on the other day. Love it!

    2. ...that should say I chose a 6P in the Vail, which is tts for me in J. Crew coats.

    3. I have to echo everything Gigi said! I have the Chateau parka from last year and I love it, but it is very heavy and very warm. I purchased the Factory Vail parka in grey on a whim - it is so much prettier in person and when I tried it on I couldn't resist. It feels a little lighter and the fur isn't as heavy. If you live in 30-50 degree temps, the Chateau may be too heavy and warm for you. I sized down in the Chateau but took my normal size in the Vail.

    4. Thank you guys so much for the replies! I ended up being at a retail store today, so I got to try on the Chateau. It ended up fitting tight in the shoulders in my regular J.Crew size, but the A-line cut kind of overwhelmed me when I tried the next size up. I'm not really sure what that would mean for me size-wise in the Vail...and I'm not sure I can get to a store to try it on anytime soon. It actually gets really cold where I live (not unusual to be in the 10s-20s in the winter), but I have a down coat for those days. I really just want more variety in the coats I have for the not-mild-but-not-freezing fall/winter/spring days.

    2. Turns out there are a number of new arrivals that are not yet available for international shipping (Canada) as they have not been added to the 'borderfree catalogue of items" - so I could not order the Tall size in the textured metallic dot dress that I love love love and Gigi recently reviewed. It is selling down super fast so I just ordered it via a "ship to US address" that I have, but is a bit of a hassle so I can get it.
