J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Hello JCAs! Review of the Elsie glitter pumps on Gigi's Gone Shopping. Someone asked me about the pumps. Not sure if it was here or on a social media thread. Just recvd them yesterday! Thumbsup.

    1. It was me! I wanted to order them and they were sold out for a few days--now they've popped back but are $40 more. Grrr. So annoying! Looking forward to reading your review.

    4. I'm so upset, they so,d out, grrr. I'll keep checking, if not I found a black glitter Sam Edelman that would look nice with jeans from Nordstrom, so I may go that route just becaus now I'm obsessed!

    5. A few sizes are back for the Elsie Glitter pumps, and they're back to 50% off as well -- 6, 8, 9-10. HTH

    6. Snagged them yesterday with the $175 off $500 promo, but in an 8.5 based on the fit of the suede Elsies ! CS told me they will price adjust if price goes back down to what it was. I always forget they will do that!
Ordered the 9 today at 50% off. I am going to reach out to CS and see if I can cancel the 8.5 before they ship (since none could be found yesterday) but if not I will bring them back to the store (guessing they might be a tiny bit snug).

    7. And messaged CS to see if I could cancel the first order and she just said to bring it back into the store. (The only reason I asked about canceling was because of final sale, but obviously not an issue, thank goodness!)

    8. Aha! I actually had the 8.5s in my cart but didn't want to purchase them at the tiered promo, and waited until they switched back to 50% off after midnight EST (I'm PST, so it was only 9 p.m.). You must have purchased the 1 pair left! I ended up getting the 9s instead, which I think will be okay, because I am between sizes, and Gigi's review and others mentioned tightness in the toe box, so fingers crossed. Hope yours work for you too!

I didn't read your other comment until later that JC will adjust sale prices if they go back to a return to a lower price -- so happy to hear that tip, thank you -- very good to know!

    9. Hi Suzanne,

Just wondering if you might consider posting when and where you return the 8.5 Elise Glitter pumps. I just received mine 9s today, and they are much bigger than expected. I wonder if I could make them work with some kind of insert, but would also love to get my hands on the 8.5s. Such a beautiful shoe! Thank you!

  2. Just a heads up, there are about 4 sizes of the Embroidered Star Mary Janes in the sale section marked down to $134.99 with an additional 25% taken off that...

    1. Oooh, I grabbed a pair! Thanks for the heads up. I hope they ship! I have the heels, which are amazing, but really for special occasions only.

  3. Saw some of the new arrivals last night. If the Martie works on you, the sparkle tweed fabric is GORGEOUS in person. There was also a beautiful pair of black lace pants (pull-on) but jcrew's pants rarely fit me well. The lace was beautiful though if they do work for you.

    1. Did the sparkle tweed feel itchy? I love the Marie pants and I'm thinking about giving the sparkle tweed a try.

    2. No, I don't recall them being itchy at all. In fact I think these might have been lined? I tried on a few pairs of pants so I'm having a hard time recalling which ones were lined and which were not.

  4. MacAlister Zip Wedge Boots - I bought these a couple weeks ago in the faded chino color, after seeing how cute they were on Ina's Instagram, and absolutely love them. The faded chino is a perfect neutral color to wear with just about anything. I don't normally find J.Crew shoes or boots to be very comfortable, but have to say that these boots actually are. I wore them to church and then to run errands on Sunday, and they felt good the entire time. The website description says that half sizes should order down, but I did not find this to be true, and ordered up a half size instead...perfect fit, especially with socks. I'd love to catch them on popback in the black colorway if at all possible, too. I've shared a post about the way I styled them this past Sunday here on my blog.

    1. I am looking for a popback of the black ones too:)

    2. I was tempted to order those also a few weeks back when they were under $70. My biggest concern was that I wouldn't be comfortable in a 3 inch heel for everyday wear. I had gotten similar ones with a chunky crepe sole a few years back (I don't remember if they were macalister, but they had a few laces, not zip) and I never felt right in them for casual wear, as much as I loved the shoe.

  5. Some thoughts on the Collection Nylon Parka With Removable Liner (#E3563). There is only one review for it so far online (not mine) and I agree with it. If you live in a warmer climate and wish you could dress for winter sometimes, this is the coat for you. Unless you don't like boxy, because this is boxy. But it is very lightweight, essentially a raincoat. I loved the feel of the fabric, it's nicer than any raincoat I've had. But it is not lined. There is a removable fleece vest inside that doesn't provide much warmth and it is not something you'd want to wear on its own. The fur on the hood gives it a wintery look, but this is really a spring or early fall weight jacket. I was surprised it was so lightweight. It's all wrong for my needs, but I really like the feel of it and I'm considering keeping it anyway. And I like boxy so I don't mind it. I bought it in my regular size, but you might want to try on a size down. This one might be too big for me.

  7. Hi - Any comments or review for the "Sleeveless trench jumpsuit
Item B9828" - I ordered for $24.95 - looks to be a simple and easy jumpsuit at a great price - lot's of sizes left - what am I missing?

    1. Realtor - Good luck w/your jumpsuit! I don't bite on 1 piece items like that because I usually need petite for a shorter torso area. I think the opening price was high for something that Loft, H&M, Forever 21 and others have been seeing for a few seasons now. You got a great price.

  8. I'm looking for some opinions on the current state of J.Crew cashmere. I'm reigning in my shopping game, but it's also giving me an opportunity to see the missing holes in my wardrobe, so I'd like to intentionally fill those gaps with better-quality items. I'd love to have a nice cashmere turtleneck sweater in a neutral color, such as grey or flax/oatmeal. I have a JC cashmere polka sweater that I purchased a few years ago, but it pills horribly and requires sooooo much maintenance. I know sweaters pill eventually, but to go from brand new to looking like a rag after two wearings is kind of ridiculous, especially at a cashmere price point. There aren't many reviews of the cashmere turtleneck on the website, but I'm leary. I'm also looking at the Garnet Hill cashmere turtleneck sweater, which is at a lower price point and has received rave reviews. Thoughts?

    1. I have had good luck with an Everlane cashmere sweater that I got last year. Mine is a crewneck, but they have basic colors and carry cashmere turtlenecks for $170.

  9. Has anyone tried either the Teardrop necklace in light shell (e7491) or the crystal cluster necklace in rose gold (E3340)? Would love to hear the opinions of any JCAs who have tried or bought. Also can either be worn during the day at work or are they both a little too sparkly? :-) Please let me know - thanks!

    1. sunny - The stones of the teardrop necklace are large. The color is pretty. However, depending on your work the size of the stones might be too much of a 'statement.' I haven't tried it on but I've seen it a few times. I don't think I've see the rose gold crystal cluster necklace.
