This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
This week I was thinking about which J.Crew clothing items I have worn the most over the years. Not the items that I really like but rarely wear, like the silk pajama separates and pencil skirts that I admire and hang back in the closet. Specifically, the items I have worn until they were threadbare, then reluctantly had to throw them away. The ones that immediately come to mind:
ReplyDelete* Navy and white cotton pique polos with embroidered animals. I believe it also came in a lime green color, but I didn’t buy that one. I wore them until the little embroidered animals were wearing off of the fabric and the white polo was embarrassingly discolored under the arms. I really wish they would offer something like that again.
* Metallic striped tissue tees. I had this tee in three colors, gray with silver stripes, black with gold stripes and Ivory with gold stripes. They were basic enough to go with casual jeans, but just a little bit special with the metallic stripes. Again, I wore them until they virtually disintegrated and the fabric was separating at the stripes.
* Weekend skinny sweatpants. I originally had four pairs, two navy and two marled. They were my go-to workout pants/leisure pants for several years. The seams eventually wore through, especially on the inner thighs and butt, so I had to reluctantly let them go for decency’s sake.
* Saturday pants. I bought these to replace the weekend skinny sweats. I didn’t like them nearly as much and they didn’t wear as well, but I also wore them out. All five pairs. I think I still have two very ratty looking pairs in my painting clothes.
* Vintage cotton pajamas. I have numerous pairs in multiple colors that I bought several years ago. I wear them nearly every night and sometimes during the day, too, if I’m not feeling well or I’m just going to be hanging around at home. I’m noticing that they’re starting to wear out though. I was buttoning the top of one pair recently and the fabric fell apart in my hands LOL. It was literally disintegrating.
So what have the rest of you bought that you not only liked but actually wore a lot?
And, to be on topic, I ordered two L.L. Bean fisherman sweaters and a fleece robe this week, so no more shopping for me this weekend.
I was actually thinking about this a few days ago. I very rarely wear anything out except for tossing some knit pants and sweaters from pilling etc. BUT, this past spring I bought a white ruffle neck tuxedo top to replace an old crew one that got two small and also developed a little hole. At first I didn’t like it, but I wet it and wrinkled it as they show in the store sometimes. It became perfect to wear with jeans and I wear it often.
DeleteThe other shirt that is a favorite in my closet is a sort of chiffon tie neck sleeveless top that first came out in Oxford cloth and was also released in holiday plaids. When it came out in solid black I got it and have worn it dozens of times. I tried getting backups in lace when they came out but the fabric was much stiffer and the cut boxier. I can throw this on with high rise wide leg black pants or leather pants and basically go anywhere and feel fabulous.
Like Jeanne, I have some things that I really like but rarely wear (e.g. black wool tuxedo blazer and tuxedo pants from the Jenna days). Those rarely worn items are for my fantasy life, but I just have to keep them. In all honesty, I'm like Suz Has in that I don't wear anything out other than tees that just don't look so good after too many washings.
DeleteI had a shopping ban this summer after a spring purge, and that was successful. I suppose I can thank J.Crew for that since I liked so very little. When I "broke the fast," I ordered the high waist wide leg linen pants in both white and navy, and I truly do love those because they are lined. I had to get them altered a bit, which is becoming the norm these days. As long as J.Crew is doing elastic waist pull-up pants and "drapey, relaxed, over-sized" clothing in cat food colors, then I'm out of the game. Their shoes have been tres awful IMO, so no temptation there either.
@Jeanne: I was just going to go to L.L. Bean this morning to order a new fleece robe. I've let my two cats have the one from a couple of years ago because it became their security blanket.
I’ve been pulling out and worn all of my very old Jcrew blazers, embellished and jeweled chambray shirts and tees including the metallic ones and of course the great old cashmere sweaters. A few years ago I purchased a bunch of the cashmere blankets in heather silver, pink, and navy. Have gotten great use out of them. I have them on our yacht as it’s silver and they have worn very well. Still have some which haven’t been used. They were $27.00 at the time. My little dog loves his rolls around in it and sleeps with it. He’s one spoiled little dog but he’s treated it well and this is his security blanket. Got my money’s worth from these.🤣
DeleteFor me, it is the vintage pajama pants. I must have a dozen pairs at least and I've been wearing them to threadbare for over a decade.
DeleteEven though I'm rarely going in to the office - my Regent blazers are a staple favorite. On the more casual side I wear the vintage cotton scoop neck tanks quite a bit and the tiered jersey dress (have black, white and coral) were on constant rotation all summer along with the knit cutaway tank dress in black. And not J.Crew specific but I did purchase at JC, the EVA plastic Birkenstocks were a surprise favorite.
DeleteI thought of another item I’ve worn consistently over the years, the captoe slingbacks in snakeskin print. I love how they add a little femininity to my otherwise more androgynous style. In true Suz fashion I bought slingbacks a few years later with a v shape vamp for when these lose their shape (in three colors. Black, snakeskin and leopard) but still prefer the rounded vamp. Unfortunately they are less comfortable than they used to be but for going to dinner where I’m not walking a ton they are fine.
DeleteI can think of two: a red wool/cashmere mix argyle cardigan with daschunds that I bought a JC sample sale 15?? years ago that I never actually saw for retail, and the Piamata x JC silk pj pants in the monkey print. The sweater is almost threadbare now and I'm not even sure if my arms can get into it, but I love it if not for the funny print and it is apparently one of a kind. The color is fading on the pj pants and fit is not as easy and loose as it used to be, but as long as I can still fit it, I am holding on to them. They started my whole obsession with JC silk animal pj pants.
DeleteGreat article! This is something very important and useful topic to discuss. Thank you so much admin for uploading such amazing content with us your blog is really helpful for me. wish you all the best for upcoming comments. I am also wanted to write blog kindly guide me if my topic is China load haul dump
ReplyDeletethen what should I do first and how will I create new and unique content on this topic
I thought I would share this with JCA's since I got a little excited over something I saw in Ann Taylor but couldn't try on because they y had only large sizes:
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this is your thing, but it sure is mine. It's a blue trench coat (French Riviera), and I love this color. It says "relaxed fit," so I ordered it in both petite XS and petite XXS. It's 98% cotton/2% spandex, lined, and says machine washable.
It is $198 but with promo code ANNVIP (40% off), it comes to $118.80. From what I saw in the store, I think that is a good price for what it is. It is item #573348.
There might be some other things you like during this promo. I saw a jacket that looked cute online. It is sort of Chanel-esque (567288), quilted zip lady jacket look but more casual. It is ivory tipped in black; 66% cotton/34% poly; $169 now $101.40 with ANNVIP promo code. It says relaxed fit, but petite sizes are available both in XS and XXS.
I haven't looked at much in AT for a couple of years, but that blue coat was in the window, and it got me to go in. My eyes have drab color fatigue from looking at J.Crew, so seeing this color raised my serotonin levels.
That trench is very pretty! I wish J. Crew would do their wool winter coats in blues like that.
DeleteWhat a beautiful color! I wish it was water resistant. Now I am on the hunt (once again) for a pretty raincoat.
Delete@Cheri: I responded to your question on another thread about the wide leg pleated pants. Not sure if you saw it, but anyway, I had ordered those and returned because the 00 was huge on me--at least two sizes too large. I thought the quality was good.
Delete@MmeJacqueline, I did not see it, thank you! I usually take a 0 so I guess I am sized out. Money saved and disappointment spared. p.s. I have been browsing online and nothing is as pretty as the Ann Taylor trench.
Delete@Cheri: I hope that one of the sizes of that trench fits me. It says "over-sized." I am so OVER over-sized.
DeleteThose pants might fit you in a 00. I have a small waist and straight hips. I ordered white, and they weren't even see through! Sizing is so inconsistent that perhaps a different pair of the same size (or in a different color) would fit. They are probably final sale now, so I wouldn't take a chance.
@MmeJacqueline, What a beautiful blue trench! I’m not familiar with AT but after viewing that trench I’m going to order 1or 2 simply because I’m unsure of sizing. That blue is one of my favorite colors and I have shoes in Deep Riviera (Old Italian Cece's,Gemma and Kiki’s
Deletethat look similar to this color. FYI Chanel has a pair of jeweled denim jeans. They look beautiful. Wish Jcrew would do some jeweled and beautiful embellished.
@Lynn, I so love the color of the AT coat. I have no idea about sizes these days, so I'm hoping there is one that fits me (and you too).
Delete@MmeJacqueline, thank you. That makes two of us as far as sizing is concerned and the reason I ordered them was due to your explicit review and taste overall in clothing. My husband also agrees with you on “cat food” colors. Remarked they’re very depressing and oversized items simply don’t look nice or in proportion. He prefers tailored clothing for himself and no sweat outfits at all except for a sweatshirt now and then. His look has always been classic and I don’t expect to ever see him deviate from this look.
Delete@Lynn, My husband is the same. Sweats are for going to the YMCA. I can't imagine being a designer and being "inspired" by those colors. I don't care what the trend is, I will not wear things that look terrible on me, so no thanks to "drapey, relaxed, and over-sized." It is difficult enough for me to find things that fit my not-very-well-upholstered body.
DeleteJcrew is adding fur trimmed items in coats, jackets, scarves etc for their Nov. launch. More orange tone colors and a blue that sounded like Cobalt from the stylist. A Liberty print pale tones in another puffer and she mentioned pants. . Hoping for the best.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lynn. Here's hoping that those orange tone colors are not the more muted cat food variety (e.g. Fancy Feast Savory Salmon).
DeleteFur trimmed…hmmm…real or faux? I’m not one too wear a fur coat but I’m not an anti-fur activist, but I wonder how this will go over if real. Faux fur trim has issues…can’t be washed typically. I remember my girls having the cutest gap winter jackets with faux fur hoods that were not removable.
DeleteI have two jcrew faux fur scarves though I don’t wear them much they are ideal for wearing over a coat to make it look like trim.
Faux fur ladies sorry. After receiving a silver fox coat from a friend who’s a furrier I promptly returned. I kept thinking about that poor beautiful fox. Cried my eyes out. People here are still into the real deal and it makes me sick when there are beautiful faux furs around. Perhaps Jcrew’s will nicely done. @Suz, I can picture you pulling off the look you described and I’m certain it would look very nice on you. I’m also giving up leather bags as well. My conscience has gotten to me after purchasing those red leather bags from Jcrew.

Delete@MmeJacqueline, I understand completely and by no means meant to offend anyone here or otherwise. I normally keep quiet about those matters. Simply thought about that coat at the time and accidentally put the remark about the red bag in which I forgot to delete before posting. That’s the bag that had the strong odor to it. Nothing anti anything in an earlier post. Humble apologies to all and have a nice evening.
Delete@Lynn: You certainly didn't offend me! That being said, I deleted my comment.
DeleteReceived Ludlow navy cashmere pants. Fit is tts and the fabric is very good quality. What you'd expect from Ludlow. Pants will work well with older collection items. Very happy with the purchase. Also, tried cashmere ribbed leggings; fit is tts, but there are long, reaching my rib cage and I'm just over 5.8. It's a nice, thick cashmere that should wear well. Thomas Mason stripe tunic dress was a disappointment; it's very oversized. I'm a medium and easily fit an XS. Striped cashmere half-zip pullover is very nice. Cashmere is a nice quality and fit is tts. The cashmere for this sweater reminds me of the honeycomb sweater that sold out last year.
ReplyDelete@MyGoddy, Happy to hear the pants worked out. Great idea as always coming from you!
DeleteThanks for reporting back on the pants!
DeleteAre the leggings a keeper even with the high rise?
@Lynn and Suz Has Thank you! Happy to help and glad the pants worked. Yes, the leggings are still a keeper. I'm just waiting on a promo and I'll purchase. Not in a hurry since we still have triple digit temps here :).
DeleteThe discount code that P.Banos shared last week was still working this morning. I found it on a slip of paper and tried it out on a fake order. It is SMPGFGFGB for an additional 15% off (stackable).
ReplyDeleteI know, used it on Friday to order the indigo Harbor button up for my husband. I think he'll like it as a more tailored choice than a t shirt for casual wear.
DeleteFor those who like color, Everlane has released some new shoes, corduroy pants, and sweaters (among other pieces) in some pretty shades. I have the merino half zip from last winter and it’s super thick and warm. They have a new chunky cotton collared/zip cardigan but it looks too short for me. They also have a new chunky cotton sweater and the old version has remained one of my favorites for years. I love the higher, almost mock neck on the new version but can’t justify because my old ones are still perfect. Not cheap but mine look new after several years.
ReplyDeleteI did recently try their new cotton sleeveless turtleneck but returned it. I loved the idea and the cotton was nice but the cut wasn’t exactly what I wanted.
DeleteI noticed the 'MOREFALL' stacks with 'SALETIME'. Too bad there's nothing I actually want to buy :)
ReplyDeleteI didn’t even realize the SALETIME was still working. Just tried to order the Smocked neck puff-sleeve cotton poplin top in black along with the camera bag and shearling lined crossstrap sandals and the top sold out. With the extra promo and my rewards it was not a bad price. Of course not a need with my piles of black and white tops but I am finding I prefer cotton to poly these days.
DeleteWow! Great prices! I bought several black camera bags and one cream for gifts! Some reboughts- such as pjs, Kate yellow pump, black wool boyfriend blazer both were $23. Also picked up 10 feel good T-shirt’s for my staff they were $2.70 each… they all so burned out and working so hard it all be nice pick me up! Straight leg jeans for me and my daughter for $18 and 2
DeleteRelaxed-fit cable-knit crewneck sweater $26 each black and white. Non final sale
Most of the items are not final sale! So that’s great!
I am scared to say I placed 4 orders…
@pbanos Thanks for the heads up! I also placed a couple of orders. If anyone is wondering, the featherweight cashmere stripe sweater (BA041 & full size run available) is included in the 50% off and stacks with morefall. Price was $37.42. It's not final sale, so I ordered a couple of sizes to try. In fact, most of what I ordered was not FS despite the note on the product page. Ratti seashell print shirt was $33 (FS) and pants $24 (not FS). Also ordered Liberty Eloise Floral Tunic $30 (not FS) and blue sandwashed silk shorts $15 (not FS). If you can spend exactly $250 (or get as close as possible), there are some great deals with 50% off and stacking morefall, especially if most of the items don't show up as FS in your cart.
Delete@Kate, that's a very nice gesture to acknowledge your staff's fatigue and to provide a "pick me up." I decided to do something similar for our staff too. Picked up several items, so they could choose.
@MyGoddy, Good for you and Kate! OT but funny story to tell you. Remember I mentioned I purchased some of LaDoubleJ dresses? I attended a function the other evening and there were 2 other people women wearing the same geometric print silk dress. This is why I rant about begging Jcrew doing some beautiful quality silk collection prints. I know for certain at least I would be the only one here wearing them and keep the individuality part going.🤣
Delete@Lynn You were a good sport! Agree with you about the need for beautiful collection prints. I wore my Drake tiger print in pink and green last week and still love the look.
Delete@MyGoddy, I’m so envious. Still on the hunt for the top after all these years. I have no idea why I didn’t purchase at the time. I do have the consolation prize…the scarf
DeleteGood evening JCA's, I'm wondering if anyone has shopped Quince before for any clothing item. I have noticed their cashmere is very reasonable, but am worried about pilling and quality. I'd rather know before I purchased anything. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI just posted a few days ago about a Quince cashmere hoodie I bought. I really like the fabric and fit (not as trim fitting as some of the recent JC cashmere hoodies). I didn't find the material overly soft/fluffy which was good as that super soft stuff is what tends to pill. It felt like a more dense, tighter knit which I liked. Problem with mine was the zipper refused to zip or I had to fuss with it for 3 or 4 minutes before I could get it to zip. I was worried this problem would get worse instead of better so I returned it but contemplating ordering another in the hopes I just got a weird zipper. Return was very easy (free return shipping) and I got an apology email from CS about the flaw and an instant refund.
DeleteThanks @julielion96. I think I will try their cashmere and report back.
DeleteFollow up on AW403 Dalton cotton linen blazer in the navy herringbone. Wore this yesterday for the first time and compliments galore. I had it tailored a little and modified the buttons. Not that the buttons are bad as is, I simply wanted a better quality button. Given that there are a lot of pretentious females over here, the same ones that complimented, made me smile privately at my bargain blazers. The Navy Dalton in the Italian stretch wool is great too. Two items Jcrew can be proud of and a versatile look can be achieved.
ReplyDeleteI did a lot of damage yesterday! By my last order of stripe cashmere sweaters I could no longer pay or check out! No Jcrew card, added reg credit card, no go…. Some error …. Tried a different Jcrew account no go…. Finally Apple Pay worked! What’s nice is 95% non final sale. I can already foresee lots of returns and heavy bags going back to store. That’s said few bargains and nice way to try stuff! I could not believe the camera bag for $33… lol
DeleteGreat Article best of luck for more articles .
