Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. No visit for me. I did place an order of everlane jersey cotton barrel pant in Xs and small in canvas. They are 100 percent cotton. Hoping they will work for wfh.

    1. Those are very tempting! As much as I’m trying to not live in my sweats they do look a bit more pulled together. Please report back.

    2. I really like the combo with the bubble tee too. I was looking at that yesterday.

  2. I also placed an everlane order, for their A line denim shorts. Both washes in two sizes because who knows!

As I mentioned the other day I went through my shorts again and can’t get half of them on due to the side zip issue. I was looking for another black pair but have been reaching for levis cutoffs I made from an old pair of my husbands 501s. I’ve seen the Agolde ones all over social but it’s such a limited use item for me I can’t see spending $130 on a pair of cut off shorts, and trust me I looked through my piles of jeans but nothing is suitable.

I’m really trying to leave my quarantine wardrobe behind and wear more tailored clothes when I get dressed so as tempting as the jersey shorts are I don’t want to go that route, yet.

  3. Hey everyone. My magic hour order arrived yesterday and most of it went back already. Here’s the good, bad, and ugly:

The good (maybe): the shirtdress in black white stripe. I really love this dress but I wouldn’t wear it on its own because of the sheerness. I’m imagining this over shorts and jeans. I’m going to try that outfit today. I sized up one to get a slouchier fit and I liked the fit.

Oxford classic button down in raincoat blue: I kept this because I love blue button downs with skirts. The classic fit makes this a good fit over my larger bust. It feels a little bankerish when I tried it on so I need to style it and see if this is a good fit in my closet.

    What went back:
Irish linen slim fit shirt: I should have sized up knowing it’s a slim fit because of my bust. It gaped just a tiny bit. May try the classic fit instead because I liked the feel of linen and think I could wear this kind of top with a lot.

Linen blazer (I think Rhodes) in white. I liked this too but when I thought about when/how I’d wear it I came up with a night out on an upcoming vacation we have and as a light topper for back in the office. I don’t know what my work situation is yet for the summer so I returned and may repurchase if I’ll be back in the office.

Cottage dress: I did not like this at all. The top was weird on me. I sized up because it looked slim and that was right for my hips actually but the bust was way too large. And it felt very low cut to me. I felt so exposed because of the way the top of the dress is cut.

I’ve also been working on a closet clean out. I went through my sweatshirts, sweaters, and blouses. I did pretty good this winter only adding 2 shirts and 2 sweaters to my collection. But I still have too much! The hard part will be my dresses and skirts since that’s what I wear the majority of the time and those categories are my biggest!

  4. I'm at two months today with no new purchases. It really does feel good. For me, the only thing that was challenging about it was at the very beginning, which I suppose is normal. Looking at J.Crew was a morning habit. It was an automatic response with that first sip of tea. I replaced it with reading inspirational blogs about minimalism and decluttering.

No new purchases did not include necessities, of course. It was anything related to my closet (clothing, shoes, accessories). I also included cosmetics. Although I am not a big purchaser of makeup and cosmetics, I have always been a sucker for the "gift with purchase," which usually left me with a bunch of things I wouldn't use and lipstick colors that were wrong for me. Done with that.

So that's where I am. I just ordered this book from Amazon: "The Year of Less" by Cait Flanders. It's about how she stopped shopping for a year. I know that I'm only two months into my shopping fast/ban, and my original goal was until Memorial Day. Now I'm thinking of pushing it to Labor Day because after doing some cleaning and purging, I know that there is not one single thing I need for the warmer months. Nothing.

I am giving the closet a rest now so that I can move on to other areas (dishes, linens, and other table top paraphernalia). I donated so very much, and the American Cancer Society's Discovery Shop wants only items that are of the current season. They don't have the storage space for off-season things. So, I will revisit the closet scene on Labor Day weekend.

Oh, and even though books were not part of my shopping ban, I haven't been purchasing many of those either unless they were related to my downsizing efforts. After clothing, books have been something both my husband and I need to cull. I've done it and am continuing with that, but he's still working on his paper monster.

Unsubscribing and banning online browsing was an absolute necessity in order for me to get a handle on the shopping habit. I am feeling more peace and mental clarity. Onward!

    1. I stopped the gift with purchase with cosmetics a long time ago but was doing IPSY and fabfitfun and stopped those too. While it was fun to try new products the sheer quantity of items I’d never use was overwhelming. I love playing with makeup but have become way more minimal there, and with skin care products as well. I still have a large collection of cosmetics for special occasion but have minimized my daily routine.

I’ve always been fairly minimal with my hair and now faithfully use new wash or new wash deep depending on the season. I love it. I do the subscription and get a delivery every season. No more testing new shampoos/conditioners and half empty bottles. And because my hair is healthier I don’t really need any other products.

I stopped getting mani/pedi years ago and DIY. I only buy polish minimally. Olive and June sheer set for my toes and londontown nail concealer on my fingers most of the time. (Polish never stays on my fingers for more than a day except for this one). When I use up the olive and June I’ll just get the londontown. It’s more expensive but worth it to me.

These were huge areas of minimizing for me. With three daughters we still have way too much but I know my own stuff is scaled way back and I’m happy about that.

    2. Kudos to you both. I have downsized a lot this year. I still find it hard to stop online browsing especially shopbop. I love to see new styles, and try to work with my wardrobe to get the look. I only do social media once a month and will soon stop that. For me Instagram was a big temptation and always got me to shop more.

    3. Sadly, I buy way too much nail polish for those DIY mani/pedi that I rarely do. I love all the colors but my efforts never look as nice as the salons. I had scaled back at one time but then I discovered the minis in my favorite brands.

    4. I'm just a work in progress here. I'm chipping away at the highly organized excess, taking into account my REAL life as opposed to what is either the PAST or the MYTHICAL future.

The first step for me was to stop bringing it in. I repeat to myself, "I have enough. I have more than enough. I have too much."

    5. Rashawnda, I’m not a professional but I was so picky anytime I got a mani pedi I was never totally satisfied. Olive and june actually post little Mani bootcamp videos but the sheers are so easy to apply they look good. My nails are much healthier too. I still have some colors if I want to do a more colorful pedi for an occasion but for everyday I love not thinking about it too much.

  5. Hi....had to exchange a swimsuit. When I asked the store if there were any specials they said no. Very little in my size ... but then I got home went online and the items I was looking at in the store were discounted online. Why is this? The sales associate was extremely nice and I did not feel like pushing this but c’mon jcrew!!!

    1. It seems ridiculous but whenever I go to the store and I consider buying something I look it up online. Occasionally a store promo will be better, but they are supposed to match online promos as well. Once I actually got home and saw what I purchased in store was much less online and I was able to be credited with my receipt without going back. It was a few years ago so I don’t know if they would still do that but why must it be so difficult?

    2. My store will always honor the lowest price. It’s extra work to look things up in the store, but if I need or like something I tried on I prefer buying it in person than having it shipped.
