Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. today's promo still un-thrilling. 25% off full price not really doing it for me, JC clothing quality being what it is these days. Give me the quality and fabrics of 15 years ago, I'd be all over 25% off full price. Now I fell like it's a risk buying basic tees.

  2. Made a tiny order, picked up the tennis t-shirt that I've been eying for a few months and a pair of joggers for future airplane trips. Nothing else caught my eye in new arrivals or sales - a lot of the new prints are yikes mumsy. I am not into the prairie/1980s florals/giant shoulder ruffles look. My shoulders are WIDE enough already thanks.

    1. @eeps - I am totally with you on that! I listed the Ratti melting floral (AU251) and a few other J.Crew ruffled shirts on Poshmark. I really don’t need the added weight.

  3. I might stop in this weekend for a return. I also have the striped dreamy pj set and robe in my cart - I need some new summer pjs but aside from that don't need much. I did purchase the black bike shorts last week and already wore last weekend with an overiszed white tee and denim jacket - comfort won me over. I am a 10 on bottom and bought a medium - they're solid, not see through at all, and I washed and dried them and fit and color is still good.

  4. I just left the store. Tried on the natural slides with cognac trim. They have a round heel. The 9 was big as expected but the strap didn’t even touch my foot. So no chance of the 8.5 fitting. Price is nice on sale but they wouldn’t work for me.

Sale section is minimal. Everything in one small room where it used to just be women’s. Some old winter stuff still remains. There were some more current items like the eyelet button down. Again glad I saw this in person because the scale of the eyelet is really oversized and I don’t think I’d like it on myself.

I did like my outfit though. Wore my old Thomas mason black and white check tuxedo shirt (lovely cotton, just barely fits my shoulders these days) tucked into my cowboy blue denim Kamm pants, the gold laceup sandals from a few years ago and a red leather longchamp bag with gold hardware.

I was hoping to see those black and white sport sandals and another pair of sandals at Nordstrom but neither were on display.

  5. I want a pair of sandals that are comfortable enough for walking a long distance (and hills) without looking too sporty or orthopedic. I decided to try the Everlane leather platform sandal in white, which has a tan foot bed and black sole. Black is tempting of course but I feel like it may feel too heavy—plus I’ve been wearing a lot of white button downs. I admit I was hoping to spend less but I know if I like them I will wear them all the time this summer.
My lace ups (which I have from madewell in tan, gunmetal and black and from JCrew in gold) are ok but tricky with the hills and the laces are not always comfortable for long periods. I think I’ve had most of them for five years, if not longer.

    1. Suz, I like those Everlane sandals. And looks like the black is sold out in most sizes so your decision was likely made for you with the white :). I recently bought a pair of black Tevas from Madewell and while they are incredibly comfortable, I also think I want something a little less sporty. They are crazy comfortable though. I'm also trying to find some woven/braided slides that don't feel like they're going fall off my feet when I walk!

      Delete
    2. Omg you’re right they must have just sold out! I contemplated getting the black too to compare but I hoped the white would work and I wouldn’t be swayed to keep both. I wouldn’t mind a nude color but I don’t think the tan offered would be good for me.

Some slides do feel like they’re going to fall off so even though I have the black suede ones with the buckle (I think they were the Cora buckle slides, they’re from two summers ago) I don’t wear them when I know I’ll be walking a lot, as much as I like the look.

I checked nordstrom for sandals, and online at Nordstrom rack too and didn’t see anything I loved for my specific need.

True confession: I also ordered the overalls in the natural canvas from Everlane.. I really don’t think they will work on me but I wanted to try.

My middle daughter is coming home next week for the first time since last September and I am going to open my closet to her. (Aside from a few pieces.)

  6. still looking out of habit… waiting for one thing ONE, JUST ONE, WHICH FLEW BACK TO FP after the last real sale, and I can wait. I don’t even turn the ipad on for 25%.

  7. Has anyone tried the pull on crop pant in 365 crepe, AV443? I have been wanting them, hard to find colored pants, but there are only 2 reviews.

    1. From live chat "I understand your concern and I apologize that I don't have any more information on the product fit for you but the item is final sale and cannot be exchanged or returned. I see that we have made an exception in the past to allow the return of a final sale item so I won't be able to make the exception today."

    2. The review that says the thighs are tight concerns me because I know I have other pants that are loose on top but tight on the thighs and I hate how that feels.
      YMMV!

I get why they have all this stuff final sale when it’s reduced, but if it’s going to be final sale and the items are not available in store, at least put garment measurements in.

    3. I know...I agree with everything you said (shocker!).

    4. If the Remi cropped pants are still available, consider them. I'm normally P0 in bottoms but got them in 0 and the fit was great. The colors (orange and red) were gorgeous.

  8. I’ve realized that I’ve purchased multiples of items because of sale prices—not being sure how they’d fit, how they’d hold up, etc.
Workout tanks and leggings—yes I need multiples. But did I need two pairs of the jacquard pants? It’s such a bad habit I’m hanging my head in shame. I still haven’t worn the second pair so I’m going to offer them to my daughter who is also taking the crochet trim pleated pants I never wore and the Blythe black silk shirt I never wore. At least I enjoy passing on my stuff to my girls, when they will take anything.

    2. @ Suz Has: I know about that habit. It's why I have a lifetime supply of tees and duplicate colors too. I'm really trying to stop that insanity. So far, so good (March, April, and May).

      Delete
    3. My issue is not so much that I have multiples but what I do have are several black and white shirts in my quest to find the perfect white or black T-shirt or button down. Not sure about anyone else but I have told myself that I don't need another black or white shirt and end up with ANOTHER black or white shirt that is so "perfect" in the store or online but is never "perfect" enough weeks after the return date expires. I am still on the hunt for the perfect black and white shirt (of any style) but COVID has stopped me from buying so many on the way to greatness!!

Don't get me started on the perfect black pants search...

    5. Rashawnda. This is my problem too with black pants and black and white tops and tees. Exactly. Sale price I buy multiples thinking it’s the best or in the case of the black pants I buy multiples to continue the hunt. I’ve bought duplicated I love and cropped one. Or in the case of the regent linen pants, got a size down because the originals loosened up, but the size down is more fitted on my thighs than I like. Sigh.
Glad to report my daughter is taking the size 2 jacquard pants too so now I’ll be forced to wear the 0s.

  9. I’ll be honest, I’m surprised the Memorial Day promo is only free shipping on top of the recent promos. I was really thinking it would be an additional percentage off. Anything I’ve been eyeing was less less $ several weeks ago and I have no desire to spend more on final sale.

    1. Surprised too, thought they might have 60% off sale today or a stackable promo off the total order or *something*. Things I've been waiting on were cheaper weeks ago.

      Delete
    2. Yes, stackable was what I was thinking. Like “for cardholders only.” Not that I was looking at
      much but… I’ll wait.

    3. Agree! Prices are high! Sale is lame! I need nothing! Last year they had 40 off reg and 60 off sale for Memorial Day!

    4. Although they have been on the website for a while, neither my espadrilles nor my swimsuit have been marked down ENOUGH for me to leap...What is this tom foolery going on, JC?

    5. I was certain they were going to go big on the extra percentage today and saved money since they didn’t.

  11. Can anyone here answer a question for me about the Relaxed-fit short-sleeve Baird McNutt Irish linen shirt dress (item AY623)? I tried it on today in store and liked it in one size down. But the sleeves stick out kinda oddly. Does anyone own this dress? I’m hopeful that with wash and wear, the fabric will relax and the sleeves will relax too but I don’t want to buy it if not. Thanks for any help you can provide!

  12. Help! My 19 year old needs business casual pants for two internships this summer. She got some chinos (and five pocket twill pants) from old navy because she needed something last minute but the fit is not great.
She is only 5’2” and has a very athletic build with a small waist, muscular butt and thighs, so everything is super tight on her legs but loose by her waist.
She will be moving a lot so the pants have to be comfortable and wash well.
I ordered straight leg crop and slim leg crop on sale from Everlane because they’re not final sale. I figure if I can find something that fits her shape it will be well worth getting some type of tan/khaki and black which she can wear to work athletic events and in the office,
If anyone has suggestions of other brands that might work please let me know! I know first hand how Ill fitting pants can make you feel like garbage and I want her to be as comfortable with her body and the style, as it’s not her usual, as possible.

    1. Banana Republic has a curvy fit line with multiple inseams. Maybe those would work for her.

    2. I agree. Everlane or BR. Possibly Uniqlo.

    3. Thanks. I’ll check banana again, we don’t have a Uniqlo that close but I’ll look into it too.

    4. Express has great, washable work pants. They come in petites if you order online. I’m 5’2 and didn’t have to get them hemmed! For once. They are very comfortable as well.

      Delete
    5. Uniqlo has great work pants that are easy to care for.

      Delete
    6. Some of the work pants are definitely more dressy than she needs but she tried on some of my everlane that fit her really well.
It’s amazing how pants that actually fit her waist (unlike the old navy ones) are so much more flattering and show off her cute little shape.
The others I ordered from everlane will be huge on her but I found some smaller sizes on sale and may order more because I know they are durable and wash well. If we need additional options I will check out the stores above with her.

    3. I was in the Richmond Va store this week and it full of cashmere & sweatshirts at full price. Who in the south is wearing cashmere tees at this time of year? It’s been in the 80’s & 90’s. There were hardly any cotton tees or shirts.

    4. Even though I'm on a self-imposed shopping "diet," (fasting), I've looked at the offerings, and there hasn't been anything at all that has tempted me. I don't like the dullness of everything, and I am partial to tailored clothing rather than elastic waists and loose and over sized things. I'm missing Chris Benz. Not so sure about this new designer and her team.

    5. I think the great prints are on the men’s side. See items AX403, H9468 and AX395. I also see a few madras shirts. I can remember when JCrew had madras items for women. I still own those tops so I don’t know why they seem to have disappeared from the women’s line. I thought a team of people were doing the women’s line but I’m not sure. I recognize this is difficult to get right since I was never a fan of Chris Benz. I was never hopeful about his designs because I remember when he was the head designer at Bill Blass for a brief period.

    6. For some strange reason, I now receive J Crew emails featuring clothing for men only, I agree there is lots to love for men, especially the madras! I still have all of my J Crew madras shirts and jackets. They are so well made and gorgeous. I don’t think we will ever see the likes of them again and it makes me sad. Talbots featured some madras earlier this spring and they have a Ratti print also. Worth a look, though the sizing generally doesn’t work for me.

  17. No store visit for me this weekend but came on to say that the factory eyelet dress is a total winner! After my big bust of an order at retail, I started poking around at factory looking for dresses to wear on an upcoming vacation. Took a chance on the eyelet dress and it paid off big! I don’t really like ordering from factory because it’s a long drive if I have a return but glad I got this dress. The dress isn’t retail quality but not cheap either (I mean some of the retail stuff doesn’t match retail quality). I got the white and currently stalking the black too.

  18. I keep downsizing my closet the best way—giving my girls lots of clothes.
My youngest (5’2”) found a few great fitting pants in my stash. Everlane lightweight wide leg crops are adorable on her. Also gave her two pairs of 501s and she might take a pair of “dressier” solid black jeans and the same in mid blue.
Middle daughter (5’10”) looked amazing in my everlane wide leg crops with the custom let down hem. For some reason these were a little loose on my youngest.
It’s kind of crazy we are all about the same size (the everlane I ordered for the youngest will be way too big on her). Oooh—just realized my everlane carpenter pants might work well on her and have lots of pockets the lightweight wide leg do not have.

  19. I got the strappy Abbie sandals (Item AV983) in brown for a song. My first purchase of this year. They are really lovely. Good for narrow feet.

I ordered the daisy matelasse dress but it didn't ship :(
Anyone try this? I keep looking for popbacks.

  20. I received the carryall tote in navy leather and it is gorgeous! Thanks to a Instagram post by @fleurdelijs I got it for $29.99! I don’t see the navy on the website any longer, it is available in black and cognac but it’s $129.99

  21. Reporting back on my recent everlane purchase, the leather platform sandal and the canvas overalls.

In the sandals I sized down to an 8 and the length is perfect. I prob would have done the 9 if my feet were wider but I have never needed to size up in everlane shoes. The front strap is a little tight (not uncomfortably) but the others are adjustable. I wanted a sandal I could comfortably walk in as all my birks and Mephistos became too loose and I think these will work well for that. The leather is not super soft but the platform is and it’s not just foam that will wear away, there is also a rubber sole.
I also have the Gretchen colorblock sandals from last year which are less cushiony and a little sportier looking because of the webbing straps so I wanted something less sporty that I’d wear walking to dinner etc.
fwiw I tried on a similar pair of MIA sandals that have a similar look to the everlane found at Marshall’s for a steal but the straps were all way too loose. I was surprised as my feet are not exactly delicate. It made me more comfortable with my decision to try these before they sold out. I got the white with the black sole. The tan with white looks nice but not a great color for my skin tone. Black is a heavier look but sold out. I believe these were offered last summer and sold out then as well.

The overalls were not for me. The canvas is a great material and they were super comfortable but it’s not the most flattering look for me.

    1. Thanks for the sandal review. I just purchased a pair of sports sandals from shopbop. The brand is roam. If they don’t work out I’m going to give everlane a try.

    2. Good luck! Today everlane released a high waisted simple black (or tan) short I might try too since the denim I wanted are still back ordered. I’m down to ONE Pair of black shorts that I like, madewell paperbag shorts from last summer that are a linen blend. JCrew has a similar pair but I’m not sure about the tencel. I haven’t washed my tencel pants yet and although they say machine wash I’m dubious.

    3. I am editing my sandal review. I tried them on again and the middle of my foot is just too wide for them since the bone below my pinky toe and my bunion area hang over the side. Sigh. I might try the next size but I’m afraid it won’t solve the issue and just be too long.
      Back to the drawing board.
