J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I’ve been considering a pair of sport sandals. I got the gretchen in colorblock last year but the current ones have one less strap and a cushier sole, has anyone tried or seen them?
The black (which is what I’d get) is on sale today.

    1. That is cute. And not a bad price at extra 50% off. Sporty sandals are often quite ugly. It's a 'need' and a 'want' for my summer wardrobe.

    2. I keep losing posts. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but I wanted them for going to the gym. They will obviously work for the beach too. I got rid of a bunch of Birkenstock’s I liked but were too wide for long walks. The sport sandals won’t look ridiculous with my gym clothes either.
That said I hate the pricing games. It makes me not want to buy a thing. Next week they might be half this price or they might be double.

    3. Oh well, my size sold out. Could try a half size up but I’m afraid they’LL be too long.

    4. It is sold out in most sizes (my size as well). Oh well, you snooze, you lose, eh? (although, it will probably be restocked?)

  2. Not so sure this low discount or no discount plan is working for them. I haven’t hardy glanced at website lately.

    1. Yes, this will be interesting to watch! I feel like things aren’t moving...there seems to be a full size run in most items, but who knows?

I’m really not liking the design direction at all. The soft colors just don’t work for me. They also seem to have gone all in in the same few designs...multiple colors /prints in the same shapes. This is the second rollout I haven’t added a single thing to my wishlist.

    2. and what a wonderful enticement - “limited time only - J.Crew Rewards members get free returns.” This does not bode well.

    3. Was happy to see free returns until I realized it was only for swim. ALL of the J Crew stores nearby have permanently closed. Free returns on everything would be nice.

    4. I was happy to see natural fiber beach sweaters this time and linen sweaters last rollout to replace some well worn pieces in my wardrobe. I may need to go into the store to see things in person but online the colors are so muted and aren’t really speaking to me. It looks like they have one of those Instagram filters to wash everything out.

    5. Even though I'm on a shopping fast, J.Crew is not making me hungry at all with these recent rollouts. I like more color and things with more shape. Not so sure about this new designer. I liked many of the things that Chris Benz did.

    6. The new releases are a series of blah shapeless sacks. I’m not a fan.

    9. Just saw on IG that there is an extra 50% off select sale items With code SHOPSALE. This promo is not listed in the offers section so I would have totally missed it.

    10. Shopping celle, yup. I saw it because I was looking but it’s not very clear.

    11. @Jeanne: Yes, you are so right that these clothes are very "blah shapeless sacks." There is nothing that delights my eyes; rather, it is sort of depressed looking. I guess it's cheaper to make things like that. I'm not one for elastic waists.

  3. Has anyone tried either of the cotton poplin shirtdresses? Relaxed fit, item AY158 or classic fit, Item AW560? Got the coverup version of a shirt dress last summer which I will try with a belt, but I’ve wanted a white cotton shirt dress that doesn’t feel like too much fabric for awhile.
I don’t know if it’s real life or my mythical life talking, however.
