Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Went to make a return and try a few things on.
Sale was 40 off but I didn’t notice additional in store promo.

Tried AX583 relaxed fit washed cotton poplin shirt and it’s classic counterpart in a size 6. The relaxed cut had slightly dropped shoulder and was wider through the body which I preferred to the more straight cut of the classic. (Note the classic was not fitted but the seams were right on the shoulder). Loved the feel of the cotton. Wish the collar was a little more pronounced. It’s a little wimpy. These are not supposed to be fitted shirts and it seems like they’re meant for the sleeves to be cuffed (from the description). I found the sleeves a little shorter than I wanted but if cuffed no big deal. It comes in tall which is longer but this was plenty long (not butt covering but I have a long torso). Sleeve length is not noted in the description.

Mainly I wanted to try AB719 and AB720, the relaxed jogger pant in vintage cotton terry and vintage cotton terry crewneck pullover.
I tried the sweatshirt in a medium and it was boxy as expected. I prefer a higher neckline and a bit longer body with more fitted waist.
I tried the joggers in three sizes. The cut is a little odd. XXS fit tighter than I wanted but the ankles were loose. XXS was fitted except for the bagginess around the crotch, like I was wearing boxer briefs. The small was loose and slouchy. They didn’t have AT783 in store to compare fit. Maybe it would be more flattering. I did like the vintage terry feel. It was soft and not too heavy. I’d buy this on super sale for loungewear.

    1. I meant the XS was fitted except for the crotch.

  2. I stopped in also. I noticed AW686, the Classic-fit double gauze shirt. I guess I missed it on the website. Since I’m tall, I’m excited about the length. Some of the new shirts are longer than usual. I hope this means longer pants are in our future. Store seemed a bit dull and item AW518 looked even more unfortunate in person. Sorry to those who like it, but their print game really seems off.

    1. I think I saw the double gauze shirt in pink, but they didn’t have white in store. I thought the Texture was interesting but it felt like it might be too heavy for warm weather, like a quilt.

  3. AV441 pull in crop pant in stripe. Thoughts? Thanks

  4. @Suz, would you mind posting a pic of those jaquard pants? You always look so fabulous with what you put together. Anytime you purchase pants I look to you for guidance. I have the white relaxed fit poplin shirt you mentioned. I sized down and it looked fine but the length shrunk a little after I washed it. I like it but don’t love it.

    1. I just took pics of both sizes and will post on IG. I have worn the larger size around the house so it’s possible they stretched a little, have not worn the smaller size.
Re: AV441 above, I prefer the look of AV445, but that’s just me.

Re the white shirt, I ordered an Everlane one that I tried awhile back in two sizes that felt too small. Somehow the 6 showed up and I grabbed it. Hopefully it’s enough of a difference. My weight training has increased my upper body size quite a bit. I will wait and see if the crew one goes on sale. Usually I would air dry these shirts, maybe tumble low briefly.

    2. Lynn, I posted pics @wearthhislikethis. The lighting wasn’t great. I wanted to show how they looked with ivory and pale pink. The trim is in between those two colors so works with both. Of course mostly i wear the pants with black.

  5. Suz, Thank you! You look great in both. I even like the ones with the stripe a little shorter on you, nice crop effect. I would have the same. The others are very nice and look expensive. It gives me a good indication of how they will look on me. You wear clothes so well, you flatter them. They should use you as a model, you look better than all of the younger women on their website. Healthy looking🥰

    1. That’s sweet of you to say, thank you. My trainer would say big butts are good, he’s made mine bigger...so I’m buying pants to fit the bootie. Hopefully I’ll be able to wear these year round as the material is just so comfortable.

I got the Everlane Relaxed Air Shirt (button down) and like it. It’s super light weight, soft cotton, perfect for layering now or by itself in warm weather. The most amazing thing to me is that the sleeves are actually long enough. It was on sale for $32 but only showed up when I searched. Kind of like with crew there seems to be a lot of stuff hidden. It’s a little sheer but I don’t mind. I didn’t want a stiff crisp shirt.

    2. I ordered the AV441 and got 50% off from my favorite crew in Boston. We'll see. I will look at Everlane again. I really love the black pants you recommended a couple of years ago. Tried some of their shoes never fit me well.

    3. I’m mixed on their stuff. I find enough that I keep though. I should keep less. Lol. I’m tempted to try their wide leg sweats and the unisex sweatshirt to go with it, but do I need to spend $120 to look like a slob? Albeit a comfortable slob?
When I can wear the jacquard pants and a cashmere sweater and be just as comfy it seems clear I don’t really need them.

    4. @Suz Has, keep going with the workouts!

I've been wearing a cashmere sweater with wide leg velour sweats for lounging and feel like a very stylish & comfy slob. We keep the house so cold I wear a tshirt and leggings under, then just take off the outer layer when I go to bed.

@Lynn, I agree she's great at styling smart casual!

    5. PBanos, thanks...it’s as much a mental need as a physical. You both are very kind. I appreciate the compliments.

    6. @pbanos, where are the wide leg velour sweats from? I wouldn’t mind a pair like that!

    7. @Suz Has, they are from Loft. There was a great sale on when I bought mine ($15!), not sure what they are now. Run big, go with your smaller size (or enjoy the extra room). The length is very good they actually reach my feet.

    8. BTW, they do have pockets, so ymmv. I don't mind 'cos they are for home wear, but they add a little bulk around the hips.

    9. I just looked. They’re a little higher now, final sale and not at my local store but there are a few styles that are. Next time I go to the mall maybe I will stop in.
