J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Is it just me, or do all of the newly redesigned shirts not have any darts? I'm looking at the photos and I don't see any. I'm considering purchasing the crinkle gingham, but with no darts am a little concerned it will be shapeless.

If anyone has the new cashmere gingham sweater yet, would be interested to know if it sized like a tippi?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. the Item AW251 gingham shirt? i returned that one. it was the material i wanted but the fit was too big/long even sizing down to my smaller size (which BTW seems to be happening more and more with jcrew). i preferred the fit of the slim fit Item AW242 version but not the material. it was stiffer.

    2. Hello @Miss JR -- AW251 is exactly the one I was looking at -- particularly wanted the lighter crinkle material as I was thinking to wear with shorts in the summer and under the gingham sweater this winter/spring. Sounds like maybe I should size down if I give a try. The shirts this year have been all over for sizing for sure. Thank you for the reply!

    3. I think you're right about the lack of darts, and I'm worried as someone with a large bust that it means every single top they make will be too tight across the chest for me. Yet another sign of declining quality and design...

    4. I was looking at it from a totally different perspective.
The perfect shirts are darted and fitted through the body.
These shirts are more billowy for an easy look. Less tailored.

    5. @Alyssa - same issue for me. When there aren't darts, it's either too tight across the chest or it's too oversized. @Suz - I definitely like the look on the models, I'm just struggling if I can pull it off.

I still might do the gingham shirt (I have some birthday coupons and gift cards to use) with the expectation it will always be under something else.

  2. I’m two for Tuesday with putting on real clothes in Feb for at least part of the day.
    Today I’m in
Wide-leg pant in palm tree jacquard
    Item AQ776

I got these in two sizes and today I’m wearing the looser ones with a white tee and cashmere hoodie. Surprised these have not been further reduced but when they do grab them. The material feels warmer than I expected, silky-feel but not staticky, they’re as comfy as pajamas, effortless to throw on, flattering and machine washable. That’s priceless in my closet.

    1. There is a hook/button zipper and flat front, so even though the back is elastic the front looks like a more tailored pant.

    2. If they would ever lower the dang price! I am all over that like white on rice!

    3. I know. It’s so crazy. They’re definitely my favorite pants of 2020/21 from crew.

    4. Suz, Shopbop has very few Naadam sweaters on sale at 30% off. Limited sizes and colors. Not sure if they have the one you were thinking of trying this weekend.

    5. Kikigirl thanks, none that I see. I’m ok with it. I don’t think it was an acceptable response, TBH. They easily could have offered to extend the sale since the items were in my cart. If they’re available next time they have a sale I’ll reconsider now that I have the information, but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

    6. @Suz they are on my list if the price drops, but not as of now. I'd go with my 'usual' 4. Bigger is good.

    7. I’ve worn them all day. Even shoveling! I added pants on top. They’re magic pants! I never wear the same thing all day.

  3. Bah, I was hoping for some kind of better % off sale for Groundhog Day today. Like...6 more weeks of winter, 60% off sale! And all sale this time, not just the current "select sale items", haha.

    1. Thanks. I hope everyone can get them at a fair price. There’s almost a full size run!

  5. Has anyone tried on the slim fit puffed sleeve shirt? I'm narrow shouldered but have long, skinny arms. I'm wondering if this would oddly work for me, as it might lengthen my shoulder line and puff out where I can use some extra bulk. Or would I look like Stubby the Dwarf? Also, is the cotton thin and see-through? Thanks for any thoughts.
