J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. I received my snowy Stewart lodge moccasin slippers. Bought two as gifts and one to keep. For the pre holiday sale price they’re ok, but if I paid $40 I’d say Minnetonka are much higher quality. Maybe the suede versions are nicer. The material is poly and the pattern doesn’t match the coordinating pajamas, not that it matters inside my house. The sole is flimsier than I expected, but they are comfortable and for what I paid they’re fine.

    1. Hi SuzHas, I’m waiting for those slippers to arrive. I paid around $42 which was the big sale price for Canada. Thank you for the review, disappointing to hear about the sole. Old reviews were good so I’m guessing they likely made them cheaper this year.

    2. I thought the sole was going to be the rubber type but it reminds me of a target or similar slipper that would be hanging on an end rack just for holiday.
My feet are warm and cozy but LL bean they’re not.

    3. I got my in summer on some super sale. They are cute. But now that it’s cold I realize they not my ugg slippers or boots. They are cold. Must wear socks or your feet are wet and cold. I would never pay reg or even current price knowing what I know now. But for $6 that I paid I can wear them a season. If I see Ugg’s on sale i will buy again!

    4. @jan, hopefully you really like them. The style is super cute.

Haven't tried Ugg like Kate, but un-cute slipper recommendation is The North Face camp mule. It's a puffer style, is super durable and washable as well as cozy. I love being able to wash my slippers and even wear them out in the yard if I'm feeling too lazy to put shoes on.

    5. Thank you everyone! I bought my husband ugg slippers last year and they seem so well made. The North Face ones sound great too @Farah. I still have an old pair of shearling lined scuffs from JCrew that are so cozy and nice but I find scuffs a pain for going up and down the stairs so I thought I’d try the Mocs.

    6. I was wearing a pair of low ugg boots as slippers for years. I just threw them in the wash and they came out better than expected. If these don’t last I’m going back to Ugg moccasins or llbean Mocs which are always recommended

    7. Suz, next time I’m looking for mocs I’ll check out LLBean. Haven’t bought much from there but the items that we have were well made.

    8. The wicked good slippers are always highly rated. Comparable In price to uggs (but they have 20-25 percent off sales) and made to last.

    9. I should clarify for $10 range I paid for the crew slippers I didn’t expect UGGs, just comparing the original price of them

    10. Absolutely! When the price is right! Bit of not on sale. There are better ones! I been wearing thick socks! Otherwise my feet are wet and cold from fux fur.

  2. Nice that there is 48 percent off but anything in my cart is higher. Still trying to figure out what to buy with my birthday rewards.

Speaking of which, I haven’t found much at madewell but today the faux leather paperbag pants are included in 50 percent off sale. 10 percent cash back thru ebates as well, so I bought those w. My madewell birthday rewards. Considering the many leather pants I’ve tried And returned this fall, I’m hoping these will fit the Bill. This cut usually works on me so fingers crossed.

    1. Morning all. Prices are higher then yesterday and I can’t use my $10 coupons! Very frustrating! So what’s the point of huger discount if prices are higher!

    2. Indeed, most everything is more. This sale is good for a few particular items, though. High-rise tapered pant in lightweight wool (AR433) was just reduced and included in the extra 48. They were recommended by another JCA, and the reviews are promising. Really hoping they work as I don't have any brown pants at all.

The other nice thing is the 20% off cashmere.

The velvet leggings and tartan top I wanted are much more now, though.

    3. I think cashmere is overpriced for the quality! It all gets discounted! I can’t pay $100 for cashmere sweater! Not worth it! Waiting for discounts! 60 off sale! It would help if they fixed the $10 coupons!

  3. Just a note that there are some great silk twill buys today. I picked up the silk twill goat and silk twill big cats shirts for about $30 each...

  4. I received the perfect shirt in pink tartan and really like it. I usually buy a 2 in those shirts, I might have been able to do a 0 for slimmer fit but it might be a little tight in the shoulders. The colours are pretty, the pop of pink will work for winter and spring. I think the blazer looks like a darker pink but the shirt doesn’t seem as dark, still the pink is quite prominent. It says organic cotton which is great. I did think I could smell a bit of chemicals but maybe that’s from shipping. Overall very happy with it.

    1. great, thanks for the info! That's one of the things I like about it, that with the pinks it can be worn into Spring.

  5. Received a holiday surprise in the mail today from J Crew. Gift includes a personalized note, a striped sleeping mask and a couple of matching notebooks. It's a thank you for being a loyal shopper. Nice touch, so check your mailboxes!

    2. Mine went to my sister in Atlanta. Lol

    3. Sweet. I'd love a surprise like that. Are you a cardholder?

      Delete
    4. Yes card holder! Package had my name and her adress! CS, had no clue! I reached out to leadership and get assured me it was a tech error. They supposedly will ship me another one!

    5. I never receive those gifts! I must not fit into their algorithm. I think sale shoppers get excluded lol. It's pretty rare I buy full price.

    6. Naaa. I only buy sale. No logic to this. Maybe it’s going to some one else on your behalf. I never got a catalog. Some just got it. So no logic. Last year I think it was Christmas cards. Trust me you not missing out! Lol 😂

    7. @Kate ha. You're right. No trying to figure out J.Crew. I grabbed a catalog in store but had to ask. I used to receive them, but not anymore.

    8. Me too, not a card holder either. So thoughtful! Mine was actually at my door in a small special box.

  6. Well, I was going to place an order but the prices went up :(

  7. I tried a couple of things a couple of pairs of denim. With WFH status I wear jeans daily so want to add a few to the rotation. Both were a strikeout for me. First, the 9" vintage straight jean in medium vintage. I ordered up a size like I usually do for jeans. The waist was a tiny bit big but the legs were tight (not unusual, I carry my weight in my legs). The crotch was really low so these are a no. I also didn’t care for the wash. Next was the 9" demi-boot crop jean in stay black wash. Same crotch issue on this pair but significantly worse. I really liked this Jean so if crew jeans typically fit you well, you’d probably like this pair. I’ll stick to my old navy jeans. They usually fit me very well.

Also ordered the perfect turtleneck. I like this a lot but I just don’t know how to wear it. It’s a tight fitting top which I don’t typically wear. I want to wear a drapey vest or poncho over it but I don’t have those in my closet so I probably shouldn’t have ordered them. Really need to stick to the strategy of figuring out 3 outfits before ordering. I think everything is going back.

    1. I also don’t love tight shirts but love the perfect turtleneck for layering under itchy sweaters or just as a base layer. The ones I have are fairly stretchy. Only black of course!

    2. Also over the past few years I do see them worn a lot under looser button downs. I haven’t done so myself but I’ve seen it!

    3. i wear perfect turtlenecks under sheath dresses or sleeveless cool weather dresses that i used to wear cardigans over. very toasty!

    4. I do the same as Suz and eeps, plus I wear them under blazers as a less formal look than a button up. And I wear them around our cold house layered under a fleece or a sweatshirt. I take a M in the perfect shirts, not my usual S. I don't care for a super tight fit.

    5. I currently have a green perfect tneck layered under a red J Crew rollneck (I have a little one very much in the spirit). But I also wear them under button downs as Suz mentioned. I have many of Ralph Lauren's classic fit button down (now discontinued) and bought them a size up, which looks great layered over a tneck and boyfriend jean. I'm usually always cold.

  8. My store had 50% off purchase (regular and sale). They handed me a $10 promo when I walked in. It was pretty empty, thank goodness. I felt guilty for going, honestly. I had an errand to do, but I didn't *have to* go to J.Crew, obs. The two items I most wanted weren't in store, but I had been considering a backup to the Golden Brandy A-line Skirt, and they had exactly one velvet skirt in the sale section, in my size, in that color. It came to just 17.50 (without the $10 promo). I also bought a pair of tartan masks, which were not excluded from the 50%. So, total was around $13 for both. I actually felt bad about it. Funny, because the customer in front of me said about her total, "really? I feel like I should be paying more". I wish I had tipped the associates or something. I want to go back and gift them just for being there!

  9. Has anyone tried the Collection quilted cocoon jacket in heavy satin with PrimaLoft? Reviews are love or hate. My store doesn’t carry it.
