This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Thank you to kel for mentioning here yesterday that the $50 of $1500 coupon from the catalog is stackable with the current CHEER promo. That convinced me to put together a cart full of things I'd been interested in trying (happily, most from the 60-70% off regular price sections). I just ordered a swimsuit, heels, men's 100% cotton sweater, t-shirt, hat, headband, and earrings for a grand total of $105. Only two items were final sale, and I'm sure of the sizing there. As for the rest, I'll be glad for the amazing bargains if they work out, and if not, simply having the opportunity to try it all on will brighten my day.
ReplyDelete^Oops, $50 off $150, clearly...
DeleteI sure would like to receive one of the catalogs!
Delete@MmeJacquline I received a catalog only yesterday. Perhaps you could or email CS and request to be on the list?
DeleteWent back to try Crochet-trimmed pleated trouser
ReplyDeleteItem AQ778 again with shoes etc.
meh, sizing up so much all they are is comfy, if you have a shorter torso they might be great.
Sale section was 60 off but nothing I really wanted to try,
I did try on the cashmere cotton (mostly cotton) joggers. Short and wide on me, again the rise is too low for me. They fit like the waffle joggers from last winter. I did like the knit. Wish they would do it in a wide leg pant, like the merino cotton ones from two winters ago (I think.)
@Suz, Did you see the aqua colored ones in the cotton cashmere joggers. If so I would purchase thes as a gift for someone. Highly dependent upon your input which is great! Thanks
DeleteI didn’t see that color in store, only the black and natural. The knit was nice and heavy. I tried the XS and they fit sizewise but if I were buying I’d probably size up for added length and in case of shrinkage. I did find them a bit short (I’m 5’6”) and I’d have to wear them low on my hips. I’d think they’d make a lovely gift, to be honest! If I wasn’t so cheap I’d buy them for lounging at home because who is going to see me!? They’re soft and cozy and can work with a nice sweater, instead of a sweatshirt.
Delete(I should add it’s possible the color was there but I saw the black and knew that was what I was interested in so I didn’t look further.)
DeleteThanks so much. They will fit her and I’m sure she will love them. Relieved. Next to the last of Christmas purchases except for the man who has everything and never wants anything. What’s a wife/girlfriend or whomever to do. Suggestions?
DeleteI buy random things as I see them but we typically do things for the house or when possible, an experience. I don’t like surprises and I don’t like the pressure of holidays to HAVE to buy, I like to give things whenever. Doing house projects has kept me sane over the pandemic and even though my husband works outside the home he loves to do things in his spare time. We added a cool gas fireplace (we didn’t DIYalthough we could have!) and when we bought it I said let’s make this our holiday gift to each other. DONE.
DeleteHe keeps telling me I need a new iPad for some work projects and he needs a new phone so if we choose we can do that too and just say it’s for Christmas.
That’s probably no help!
I know there are people (friends of mine even) who come up with these crazy creative ideas, like pickle of the month club, beer of the month club, etc. I buy pickles, he has his favorite sources for beer and I know nothing about it.
@Lynn, the Mr. and I also do random gifts throughout the year. But I used to plan trips to do something he liked (golf!) back when we could travel. This year I just planned same-day golf outings for us and packed a picnic.
DeleteI stopped in JCrew today, not my preferred store in Short Hills, but a quick trip to Bridgewater for a return. Honestly there was nothing in the store that interested me at all, the Mr. said the things I've ordered are nicer than anything on display. I was wearing the denim jacket with navy faux fur collar and cuffs, and it was cuter than anything I saw. The store was lackluster with zero eye-catching displays. The men's department looked like a rumpled mess. If they just steamed the garments and arranged nicely it would have been different. I guess this is the end of a terrible year for retail and it shows. Though I expect the shop in Short Hills would be much nicer.
PBanos, meh. Today was more crowded than yesterday, several people on line and wandering through the store. Big bins full of returns by the register, someone unloading a big cart in the middle of the store, not much inspiration for me, usually I might see sweaters or something I was interested In and I didn’t really.
DeleteJust as well we didn't drive that far, then! I'm sure retail employees are feeling anxious and tired of wearing masks all day.
DeleteI think it’s pretty quiet at least, good or bad. Hopefully everyone is adhering to mask policies in stores so all the workers stay safe.
Delete@pbanos & Suz, great thoughtful ideas. We do the same throughout the year and yes it’s stressful feeling you have to purchase something. I’m going to order a crate barrel of pickles for him, he loves them. He will really be surprised with this one😂 Thanks again and have a wonderful holiday
DeleteToo funny, I’ll take credit for the random pickle comment, even though it was just a funny example. If you’re a pickle person you get it!
DeleteOrdered a topcoat for my husband (AQ811) and the heather twilight (light blue) cocoon coat for myself. I couldn’t resist getting the light blue cocoon coat given the price and after seeing the color in store. After the $10 off coupon and the APPLEPAY code for $25 off, the total was just over $200 for both coats and neither item was the dreaded final sale!
ReplyDeleteI like that blue cocoon coat color too...how does it look IRL? It looks sky blue on the website but I was hoping it's a bit darker in person...
DeleteJCrew topcoats are excellent. Make sure he has a nice scarf to tuck in the front. My husband laughed when I bought him a wool/cashmere topcoat (under $45) and a cashmere scarf during the clearance sales last summer, but he was happy to wear it when he had to go to the office in the snow this week.
DeleteI tried it on in store a couple of weeks ago, but from what I remember, it looked a bit less “pastel-y” than it appears online so perhaps a smidge darker. I wish I had taken a photo to refresh my memory, but I have pale skin, dark hair, and light blue/green eyes and remember thinking that the color was unexpected and really popped with my coloring. I definitely would not have ordered it had I not seen it in person at the store.
Deletehad anyone had luck getting the pink tartan parke blazer? i’ve been relentlessly refreshing the website to grab my size, but my order either gets canceled or the inventory disappears. I’m hoping it pops up after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteHi Allie, if the US still ships from store via phone orders I’d call a store(s) directly to find one. Good luck! I bought the perfect shirt in pink tartan and that took a lot of stalking.
DeleteThanks for the tip, Jan! I’ll definitely try that!
DeleteWhen we had stores in Canada I’d do that so I could be sure to get the item. Shipping was usually really fast that way. Let us know if you have any luck. It looks like a lovely blazer.
DeleteUnfortunately, it’s an online only style, but the very nice store associates and customer service agents suggested they might get some returns in the coming days/weeks. I plan to keep stalking the website until my size pops up.

DeleteDarn, that’s too bad. Good luck, I hope it pops back for you! I usually have luck with pop backs eventually. 😊
DeleteApologies for my multiple replies! Not sure why that happened.
DeleteAgree that it takes some stalking as does all of the pink tartan. My perfect shirt was cancelled twice; I got it again today but definitely not counting on it...
DeleteI was able to get the jacket, as well as the pants. The print is just darling. I love it.
So I fell in love with the mushroom print, also loved the 70% off, and my plan is to remove the fooffy collar, have someone steam out the pieces, and go from there. Ideally, i could end up with a tailored tie-neck.
ReplyDeleteOops, got carried away with the “brilliance” of the above idea and noticed there was an even cheaper solid purple silk blouse also waiting to be cured of Fooffy Collar. So, no Chrustmas Crafts this year, because no browsing craft store or Sears with evil glint in eye, because Pandemic - but I still have my supply of cuticle scissors, stitch pickers and single-edge blades ...
DeleteLol I really wish they didn’t add those ruffles! Every year they come back with a vengeance and I don’t get why.
DeleteThat style kills me. Ironically my daughter has a friend who works for a designer in NYC and this fall she passed on to me an almost identical ivory silk blouse.
DeleteMaybe we’re behind the times @Suz lol.
DeleteI tried it on lovely silk, pretty except the neckline makes me feel like a court jester. The green mushroom print makes it even worse, like a court jester on acid.
Delete@wellfreddfred bon voyage on the ship of rescued garments. Do let us know how the sail removal goes. I purchased the same silk blouse in black watch (I waved the white flag at $18), but have little desire to feel like a Scottish sailor. Not zero desire, but very little. I haven't tried it on yet, so the Real Feel remains unknown.
DeleteI actually saw the little mushrooms on a tie at Hermès a few years ago (in the before time). Deeper green background, though. So I’m willing to work on developing a cure for Fooffy Collar.
Deletei remember an epidemic of Black Watch when I was small, it looked like the entire 6th grade was going to form up for a reel. And changing for gym - good grief, Black Watch panties.
wellfedfred, I remember the Hermès print and I liked it. I have a large collection of their scarves and after you posted here I decided to order the jcrew blouse. I like your creativy. I’m not into Foofy collars so I will have it made into a scarf. Wishing you well on your endeavor and kudos for knowing how to sew. I flunked it in the 7th grade. I envy your talent and anyone else here that does.
DeleteOh the epidemic of Black Watch remember it well. There wasn’t a girl at school that didn’t wear it head to toe during a time we were allowed to wear something other than our navy uniforms for a week. That was New England Prep for you. Still have nightmares about that pattern. Sorry others who love it
hi, Lynn, my real talent is telling others where to cut, where to pin a dart or insert a gusset, and what to stitch! there’s a convenience Nordstrom’s not far from me, and the tailors there have the right attitude. However, they’ll be more willing if I do the surgery at home first - and that will also give me the opportunity to play with the fabric a little.
DeleteBTW, these Nordstrom storefronts are wonderful. And your merch doesn’t have to come from Nordy’s.
@wellfedfred, thank you in fact I use Nordstrom’s tailor service as well here. I bring all of my Jcrew and other items to them. Being a cardholder is great as you probably know and I love how we accumulate high amounts for alterations. Never paid a penny. They do lovely work and are fast. Will love hearing how you do with your blouse and the best of luck for a potentially gorgeous blouse that should have been done your way in the first place. I have a new name for the blouse “The Fifi Blouse”
DeleteOmg I really look forward to hearing what you come up with. There have been many prints over the past few years that I appreciated but would only wear in small doses, like a scarf. I’d have bought a scarf in the mushroom print for sure.
DeleteI wish I knew how to use a sewing machine. One day I will have to learn.
@Lynn, I’m already thinking of it as the F/K/A (formerly known as) the Fooffy.
Delete@Suz, somewhere on my blog is an honest description of my desperate efforts at a now deceased Collection Store to get a JC tailor to move a belt loop.
You have a gift, even if it’s not with a sewing machine. Will have to search the blog to read.
DeleteGoing to do some returns.
ReplyDeleteHere are some reviews of my 48 hours haul in case people are considering the items. I'm 5-2
Remi pant in spicy orange. Finally settled at size 0. I'm normally petite 0 or 00 in bottoms but 0 eliminated the muffin top. Keep.
Resume dress in neon orange. How I wish it was the pretty orange in the picture. It's true neon. Return.
Quilted barn jacket. Not your barn jacket from the 1990s - more like a burberry cut. Very Connecticut weekend house. Fitted and nice weight. Keeping.
Peace and Love sweatshirt. Boxy! But I like it. Keep.
OT VENT, Nordstrom rack order placed 12/3. 2 of 6 items have been shipped. Two other orders since and I just wish they’d cancel at this point, other orders I’ve placed have canceled after a week.
ReplyDeleteMy orders were super slow too. Everything finally shipped. Still waiting on two items. I only cared about two things (Madewell Kent stripe cardigan and J Brand patent leather pants) and they were keepers. Other stuff I ordered just to take advantage of the crazy sale where you could save $90 off a $300 purchase.
Delete@Mygoddy, I tried the Kent Cardigan and although pretty it she’s before I put it on so it went back. I decide some months ago to give everything I owned in leather away, jackets, pants, blouses etc. I now purchase faux leather and I found them very nice, and no one can tell the difference but me. I was surprised to see even Haute Couture designers are using it.
Delete@Lynn, I haven't worn it yet, but no shedding when I tried it on, so fingerscrossed. I bought it during Anniversary and returned. So, for $30 I'm hoping it will work it; at least I have 45 days to decide. Yes, I've seen that too and I'm blown away by the prices that are comparable to real leather. Can't justify that option, but I do have some faux leather items and I like them as an option. I'm still a fan of the real stuff too. Always buy it on super discount and when I mix the real & faux, no one knows the difference :).
DeleteMygoddy I missed that promo! I ordered and returned so many pairs of leather pants, I just ordered a pair of Joie faux leather and then the Madewell faux leather too. I like both but I won’t sit by a firepit in faux leather pants, 😉. I’ve never been into leather jackets (since my NYU days in the 90s) but I have almost been living in my leather pants over the past three years.
DeleteI ordered the slim wide-leg jean in Misty Surf wash (Item AN062). Was fretting over the fit and style but happily pleased when it arrived & fit beautifully. The wide-leg is just wide enough and the wash is very light but lovely. Recommend. There is some light "whiskering" around the waist area but not noticeable. (I'd prefer a solid color though to the whiskering effect -- that's my only problem with them.)
ReplyDeleteISO: I'm stalking the Honeycomb cashmere rollneck sweater in Hthr Birch Hthr Muslin, but my size is not available online. Might check my local store & see -- hopefully on sale as it's nearly $300.
Also ISO: the Collared cashmere sweater (Item AQ382) in ink navy -- it's sold out online. Hopefully it'll pop up on Ebay or Poshmark at some point as the style looks like a classic & appears a keeper, although the pocket looks like it might be a bit droopy. Thoughts?
I ordered the same jeans and am happy to hear you like them!
DeleteAlso want the Honeycomb cashmere rollneck in the same color but it's more of a dream than a seeking.
Hello, any interest in the ruffle collar tuxedo shirt. Item #AU281. Was 70% off this am. TIA
ReplyDeleteI like the cherry indigo color and was wondering if anyone has tried it and how’s the fit. Thank you.
DeleteI’m interested in this too. I might order two sizes since the price is so good.
DeleteCame here to say the same thing about this top. It’s back ordered so not sure anyone would be able to comment on sizing. I ordered in cherry indigo. Also, collection pajama top in navy and orange polka dot is also 70%. Tried to add to my cart but kept saying sold out. Looks so cute and would look great with a pale blue cardi. Will stall for popbacks.
DeleteI ordered the tuxedo shirt. Got larger of my true size to account for any shrinkage. @liz I tried the polka dot shirt in store. It runs a bit large and fit was a bit boxy on me. Quality is similar to other jcrew silk. Hth.
DeleteDoes anyone have a $10 off code they don’t plan to use?
ReplyDeleteHi all. Just got Ribbed Chelsea boots in leather Item AQ656. No shoe box. Only brown shipping box with tissue paper. Never seen anything like this. The soles look like a store display but they came from warehouse. I did a chat they said no prob to return. But I am disappointed. They run true to size. But I am returning! Ughhh
ReplyDeleteI know Nordstrom rack says they are now shipping shoes w no box. When you say they look like a display do you mean the sole was worn?
DeleteYea sole was scuffed! I did chat and they said they should of come on a box!
DeleteThe next launch will be on Dec. 22nd. Little birdie stated there will be likely some more cashmere and early Spring items. Don’t quote us verbatim because she as usual hasn’t been given any previews or additional info. If she hears more I will post again hopefully.
DeleteRe: Nordstrom rack shipping w/o a box? Seems odd but perhaps it's to save on cardboard?
DeleteI think it’s more about space and shipping cost. I haven’t bought shoes from rack though but I saw something in my packaging that said something to that effect
