$35/FS suede chelsea boots arrived with lots of blemishes. Not unwearable, but while the soles look new, the upper doesn't. The suede doesn't look like great quality, like once it's at all dirty, it probably won't come clean. They felt nice on, however, and are TTS.
ReplyDeleteThe rest of my order was pretty great, though! The golden brandy stretch velvet skirt is beautiful. I was hoping it would be more brown than golden, and it strikes a good balance. I'd like a backup! It claims to be machine washable- I'll see.
Popcorn cable sweater- nice color, nice design, surprisingly un-itchy for acrylic (I think the supersoft yarn sweaters are terribly uncomfortable on the skin). Downside is the fiber blend, which almost looks matted in spots. Not in a pilled way, but very rustic and worn-in, I guess. It's also pretty long on my short torso, so I can likely only wear with leggings and not a skirt if I keep it. It is pretty cute, and I've been eyeing this style for a few seasons, so I might hang onto it. I never tried on previous years' iterations- how were they?
Boys cotton cable knit sweater is really nice. Reviews complained about the lack of cable design on the back, but 1) no one in my circle would ever notice that, or care; 2) I got it for myself, really oversized in a 16, and it hangs straight in the back and covers my bum, so I don't need the extra bulk for that effect. Color is great (fresh cream), machine-washable, all cotton, really cozy and not stiff. Good buy.
I received the free cashmere blend striped socks! So cozy. I'm not thrilled about hand washing my socks in cold water, so these are special lazy day occasion socks.
Final vent, the linen pleat pants did not work out. Great style but I'm not into shiny linen or awkwardly done pleats, not to mention these were highly sprayed with some sort of nasty chemical. I did like the silhouette, though, even on my curvy shape.
Having kept just one item from a previous order, I did okay here.
DeleteRe the popcorn sweater, are you talking about Item AT823? Previous years were different if so, less straight and more of a blouson shape fuller through the body and more fitted at the waist. I got one and sold it two winters ago. I liked the shape, disliked the color and the acrylic blend which felt really fake to me.
Are you talking about item AN010 the sort of cropped pleated linen pants? I didn’t love them on myself but gave mY daughter a pair and they look amazing on her. I didn’t find them shiny in the black, really liked everything except the fit on me.
@Suz Has, yes AT823. Now I remember the iteration you are talking about with the balloon sleeves- back when there were the demylee sweaters with a similar look. What color did you have? I got the English Saddle and it's a really nice color. With a pop of color in a skirt or hat it's fun, or paired with cream or other tans its low key classy. Shame about the fabrics, but that is a constant battle now. I kept one other weird blend this year: Colorblock crewneck sweater Item: AS282. They used a different non-itchy blend for the cuffs, so it can be worn comfortably with a LS shirt.
DeleteYou are right about the sweater selection this year! Only things I'm really interested in now are the cashmere ones. The ribbed v-neck cardigan other JCAs have mentioned is on my list. I nearly, then didn't, grab it when it was briefly on sale and I'm annoyed.
Margot sweaters. Anyone have experience? Reviews are extremely off-putting. And are they really discontinuing the Tippi? I mean... if so, that is not okay with me!
AN010 linen pants, yes. I can see them being wonderful if the pleats sit right for others. Maybe the ones I received were a return sprayed with disinfectant lol.
@Suz Has: The crewneck Margot sweaters didn't work for me. I tried one when they first came out (last spring?), and the body was too loose. For some reason, the turtleneck Margot works better for me. I got those in two colors. I would still like for the body to be more fitted, but I am tucking them into my pants. I think the merino wool might not be as thin as the Tippi.

Oops sorry about the duplicate post. Don’t see how to delete anymore,
ReplyDeleteWith a mid December birthday I was looking last night to see what I would spend my rewards on. The sweater selection for women is so disappointing, just about everything is an acrylic blend. I bought the leopard print mockneck in silk tencel and I swear when I bought it the website did not say acrylic. I looked at the solid colors and realized even that has acrylic in it. Now it’s a finer knit and I don’t think it will pill like a chunkier blend but it’s still frustrating,
ReplyDeleteI remember seasons past where I was so excited to see the winter sweaters and honestly there is not one I am coveting.
I would like to replace a red tartan shirt i ripped beyond repair. Mine is from factory and close to ten years old. I still wear it under sweaters because I have yet to find a smaller scale red tartan/plaid. There are two possibilities but i didn’t grab them over the weekend and they’re basically sold out. Maybe I’ll have luck in store or there will be returns.
Very sad sale today! Saving my money! Lol
Deleteplaced an order black Friday (after site was fixed) and another cyber Monday. This was on the Canadian site. prices are now better for me today on many of the things I ordered . should I send it all back and reorder?
ReplyDeletefor Canadian JCA's check the sale page. alot of marked down items. they do not qualify for the 30% off...but prices are low considering what the were at full price. gee...right after Bfriday and Cmonday...they do this. wacko IMO
Deletelooks like I am reordering. darn it !!!!
DeleteWOW. I called CS . because both orders have not shipped yet. I received a price adj. I thought they were no longer doing this...no matter what. so Canadian JCA 's check your orders!
DeleteGlad Canada finally got a break, and that's excellent about the price adjustment.
Deletesure was. didn't think they would do PA...
DeleteThat’s great!
DeleteI'm in the US but I did much better in October due to 50% off, the blazers special and the cardholder's 20% off promo.
DeleteGlad you received a PA. I'm about to request one in the US, because an item I purchased went down $20 (shearling lined chelsea rain boots), right after I ordered this morning. I'll report back.
DeleteThat’s so great that you got a price adjustment! My packages shipped on Monday so I don’t think I’ll bother asking.
DeleteI didn’t even check this am as I figured our promo was over. Although this one is 30% off there are some good prices and I’m so happy that Canada was included. A few items went down considerably but my size is sold out so I can’t even reorder if I wanted to.
DeleteThanks for the heads-up on the pricing games. I'm in the US too and had ordered the mushroom shirt a few days ago, thinking I wouldn't get it any cheaper than 50% off before the holidays. Today, with the extra off and festive code, it's $35 less. So, called the priority line, told the guy that I don't usually pester them about small pricing differences, but that this one was pretty big, the item hasn't shipped and would he make an adjustment. He had to ask, and give me the spiel about not adjusting but "just for me, as a special favor," they would give me the shirt for $46. It will be my self-gift for Christmas morning, so I hope it fits.
Delete@Mary G, Good for you, pester them anyway. I do and it works. Their standard response is very robotic and at times very condescending so much so I feel I need to take an Excedrin Extra Strength tablet. . I find
Deleteit easier contacting my VPS and she’s wonderful. Always a smile and never a problem. Enjoy your shirt. Very unique print. Hope you’re well and safe.
The response I received from CS:
DeleteHi,
Happy holidays,
Andrew
/um, ok
Thanks, Lynn. Between the dog and the mushroom prints, I can see myself heading toward my Grey Gardens years. The printed clothing is about all that's catching my eye this year. I was beginning to worry that I wouldn't see anything for self-gifting this holiday, and if ever this was the year to do it, here we are.
DeleteWhy don't the $10 coupons work if you sign in to your account anymore? I used one weeks ago without any problem, but not I can only use as a guest, and I would have to pay shipping, so useless. Any ideas on how to work around this?
ReplyDeleteI've had no luck with that. I had to call CS to place my order using that coupon.
DeleteYes, you need to call CS to place the order.
DeleteI too find it completely stupid that I can't use any of the multiple $10 coupons I have received if I sign into my account. What is the point of these stupid pieces of worthless paper?
DeleteIs it just me or is there a distinct lack of cute pjs?
ReplyDeleteWhile I liked the striped waffle leggings, the pair I had (pink and red) wore out in a shocking amount of time, so I won't repurchase.
Fortunately I haven’t had the problem using the $10.00 off ordering. The problem I did have was that I accidentally threw the other 3 out I was hoping to use at some point. I feel like an idiot. There’s a little bit of news news, there will be a mini- launch on the 8th.
ReplyDeleteYay, looking forward to it. Thanks, Lynn
DeleteSorry about the coupons, tho... boo!!
DeleteI asked for a price adjustment for a Madewell order (I had use a 30% off promo and it was 40% off on Cyber Monday) and they told me that my order didn't qualify. I miss the customer service from the days of yore.
ReplyDelete@ Fran, call again and if no luck ask for a supervisor. Good luck.
DeleteThank you, Lynn!
Delete@Fran, Let us know how you made out.
DeleteIf you haven an opinion on this, are the Stretch velvet leggings
ReplyDeleteItem K3653 worth $20? I know some of you snagged them for $4 :)
Yes, I'd say that's a fair price if you are looking for velour leggings. They're comfy for lounging. Not a workout legging as they are not supportive.
Delete@pbanos, thank you so much. Great. I want something for home that isn't thin leggings or sweatpants so I feel like I got dressed on days off playing with my kid.
DeleteThey are not as structured as a pair of ponte pants would be, but a bit thicker than a plain cotton legging.
DeleteHelpful to know!
DeleteI agree with pbanos. I haven't worn them yet to see if they stretch out throughout the day but I think they will be cozy and just based on initial try-on I would scoop up a pair in a different color for the current price.
