"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. after all the time and effort that JCAs spent in agitating for user reviews on the website, i feel frustrated to read that something “can be dressed up or down.” OH PLEASE.

    2. I don’t mind people explaining how they wear something but to me weight is almost irrelevant because there are skinny people with no muscle that weigh nothing and would be a size 4 and skinny muscular people like me that weigh more and are a size 0. Measurements are much more helpful regarding fit and sizing.

So many of the pants I was looking at have no reviews so who can even say what works. The size chart online is not at all accurate.

    3. And really with stores closing and minimal product in stock as it is, put some freaking specific garment measurements up. It will save time and money with returns. I was to know rise, waist, hips, inseam, thigh, ankle.

    4. I agree weight is irrelevant bc different body shapes carry weight differently. But measurements and height would be hella useful for comparison purposes.
Whether something can be dressed "up or down" is entirely subjective depending on your lifestyle. To a student who is a tomboy, a sweatshirt with a tulle skirt would be dressing up whereas I'd get funny looks if I wore the same outfit to a business meeting with certain clients.

    5. @Suz,eeps, You’re right and the stylists are so frustrated by the lack of info given to them. I hate having to purchase duplicate items simply for fit purposes. The good part is she waves return shipping.

  2. I ordered some items on deep discount sale the other day and got the last ones so I am worried I might get a cancellation email (I have seen this in the past when I order the last one and it can't be fulfilled). Has anyone had any items cancelled on them recently when ordering online?

  3. We’ve reached the point in the sale where every single thing I add to cart is unavailable or comes up $0.00. Wonder what’s brewing for tomorrow. Any thoughts?
If memory serves, last year right after Christmas was the best sales, prices increased after that.

    1. I think 70% off is as good as it's gonna get (LOL!). I checked out the blog archives and in 2019 it was 60% off sale and in 2020, 40% off sale. 2020 has been full of suprises, so who knows. Between J Crew and discovering that I could save $$$ on designer apparel at Selfridges and Harrods, I need to chill out and say no :).

    2. I really only want to use my remaining $10 joy cards 😜 , I’m not really looking for anything in particular or a bigger discount. I’m also done for awhile.

    3. I had this problem too, or I would go to check out and then things would get removed, very frustrating! Especially when you're trying to get three items or more and having to go back and find something else and risk the other item you wanted selling out! I bought a few mens sweaters to try, hoping they work for me, first time shopping the mens section but a lot was left in the smaller sizes in styles I liked (and got my husband a matching sweater in one of them too!)

    4. @Mygoddy, Better hurry up and order those items. The Stering is going up and so will shipping rates globally as of Jan.1. 😉

    5. By some cashmere socks they’re nice. They’ll keep your feet comfy& you can stack the cardlove. I received the navy striped ones for free when they had the promo and purchased some more with the remaining $10.00 cards and cardlove promo.I wouldn’t pay full price but the promos and cards soften the blow.

    6. Except they won’t let some of us stack the promos with the joy cards.

    7. They did for me. Call a stylist

    8. I tried. Called, emailed, DMd. I’m done with it. It’s unfair when so many people report that they’ve gotten someone to apply birthday rewards or the JOY card after the two other codes but it is what it is. I don’t need anything that badly that I need to beg for it. It’s insulting and degrading already.

    9. @Lynn I had been stalking a few items and couldn't believe the prices. Patience paid off with the deep discounting, so I decided to go for it. Have a wonderful New Year and safe travels back to the US!

    10. @Mygoddy, Good for you! Happy to hear this. You too have a wonderful Happy and Healthy New Year and thank you! Keep us posted on your “bargains”

  4. To be fair, it’s not really 70% off. I did have to buy filler items to get 70% off the shoes I wanted. Their whole system of price changes, canceling, not allowing the usage of birthday rewards, etc has left me feeling quite disillusioned. I always come back, but now I need a break...just as soon as I use my birthday rewards from the order they cancelled that I keep missing on popback. 🧐

  5. The 70% off three items "bigsale" promo ends tonight, but "cardlove" goes a few more days. I'm hoping for a % off full price items tomorrow, that would be great.

  6. Holiday Greetings from St Barth’s. It’s like a circus here with all these celebs. We’re playing it very very safe here on our yacht. Wore the Jcrew Lobster dress the other day and some old vintage pieces from 15 years ago. A little gossip here for Suz, the father of your new designer shoes (daughter) you recently purchased was on board here complimenting our yacht and hubby invited him on board. Very down to earth “bloke”. Last of all received an email this evening from my stylist mentioning the next big launch has been been pushed forward a week to Tuesday 26th Jan.

    2. @Cheritheberry, thank you and I hope you have a safe and Happy New Year full of good health, happiness and optimism. This goes for everyone here. We can all kick back now and give ourselves a well needed break from all this manic shopping😂 I do hope Jcrew kicks out some better items and doesn’t pile more ruffles upon us.

    3. Lucky you wearing the cute lobster dress at the end of December!

Here in NJ we are deep into fleece, sweaters and boots. But then I do love wearing my Nordic boots and a cozy sweater dress with leggings.

Thanks for the updates, hope the new rollout is more inspiring than the last beigey one.

    4. @pbanos, yes the weather is pleasant but this is a work related trip and I would much prefer to be at home where there is real winter weather. I miss the snow and a nice fireplace to sit in front of and wearing a nice coat and boots. Still a New Englander at heart. I did bring the Jcrew polar fleece button down jacket with me and love it. By the way, I’m still planning to get together with you and the others up in the NJ area next year. This would be the highlight of my Jcrew experience with you all.

    5. How fun, Lynn, thanks for the report. I wore all three of my Stellas (Sneak Elyse) this week. Got my sister to buy a few pairs too. We are having fun with them.

    6. +1 for best JCA post of 2020! Sounds so glamorous Lynn. And double thanks for the intel. End of January seems so far away! I haven’t bought much from Jcrew this month. But Tory and Kate definitely got me! Need to cool it, ha!

    7. @Liz, no Liz II don’t view this as glamorous at all. I don’t give a hoot about these people nor the IG hookers parading around. We had one that tried to do some photos of here by the boat and asked if she could come on board. I walked off and told her to get a real job and by her own boat or I would call Marina security. It’s funny I’ve never seen so many LV bags carried by the wanna be’s then you see the Birkin bags by all the so called IT people. I walk around with my old Navy Blue Jcrew striped tote. Works fine for me especially for carrying dog treats. The Goyard is my work tote no flash. End of Jan. can’t come soon enough with the Crew launch and leaving here. I was going to spend 3 months here and cutting it short. Find it very sad with all the suffering around and these Billionaires couldn’t care less. Some of the biggest cheapskates around. You got me interested again in Kate Spade by the way. Happy New Year to you and your family 😘

    8. @Suz, wish I could live stream all of what I’m seeing to all here. Trust me, you would all have a lot of laughs, and add the comments hubby makes them priceless. As a side note I’m going to study the Russian language😂

    9. Hi Lynn, I’m glad to hear that you’re safe and well! Enjoy the beautiful weather for me, I’m tired of winter already lol. Thank you for the fun stories! ❤️

    10. Hi Jan, nice to hear from as always. At least you can wear all of your nice Jcrew clothes up there. Snow let snow trade places with you. Stay healthy and wishing you and family a very Happy and Healthy New Year😘 Too bad we can’t all get together down here and have a Jcrew Squad Bash😂 Reverse snobbery at its finest😂

    11. A very Happy and Healthy New Year to you and yours too, Lynn! I’d love to be there right now, we could twin in our lobster dresses! I know what you mean, snow is nice for the holidays. I am longing for a beach so badly though. Enjoy the weather, soak up the sun for us. 😘
