"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Made the rounds of returns today. Getting frustrated with poor fitting clothes or maybe I just don’t need anything.

Returned the sleeveless silk bow ruffle neck top that had the detached bow to crew and wanted to check out new arrivals. To be honest it felt like it could have been any pre holiday for the past ten years. Aside from the newish pink and red plaid (and I don’t recall even seeing that in store) I didn’t see anything I wanted to investigate further. But maybe it’s me, I’m tired of the buying/returning cycle, acrylic and poly when I expect wool, and clothes that don’t fit well.

  2. Not a vent. For anyone who's interested, here's the link to an interview at Vogue Runway with Jenny Lyons about her new tv show. :)

    2. Thanks so much for the link - very interesting article. So Mickey advised Jan Singer to get rid of Chris Benz. Was wondering why he had such a quick exit. I don’t know what the answer is for turning J Crew around but I’m sure we would all be happy with a return to quality.

    3. Thanks for sharing. Good read. Agree, not sure what will work in the current climate. Fingers crossed they survive the next year.

    5. Enjoyed that read too! I think and hope that more people will value quality over quantity which could be great for JCrew if they are careful to return to great quality. I don’t think JCrew should follow fast fashion abs hope they don’t. Before the pandemic I thought that preppy was making a comeback so if that happens it would be perfect for JCrew. Wish they’d also dig some old amazing prints out of their archives.

    6. I would LOVE to see them pull some designs out of the archives... if the quality is good, I would totally pay full price for them. I love looking at old catalogues and wish I could buy those things.

    7. Not a business person and Have no clue what would work.... but Agree to quality! With causal wibe they should continue to improve their classics like coats and cashmere! Would love to see a cashmere infinity scarf! Some cashmere dresses! More coats in older colors of grey 2010.... had several. I guess that’s just me... have a great day all !!

    8. I find it interesting that they include that customers have provided feedback that "[They're a Tippi}" person" and yet despite saying they are returning to staples, they are discontinuing the Tippi sweater...

    9. Thank you interesting read. I’m with Jan and the others. Bring back the old archived items that were their top sellers including Drake’s which I mentioned time and time again and stick with the classics. Quality, quality. I’ve always liked the classic preppy look and I continue to pull items I’ve had for 20 years. The company was famous for their color pallets. Bring them all back in cashmere. Make clothes that fit. Remember when everything fit properly? No guessing games? I like many of you purchase duplicate sizes because I’m unsure of the sizing. Years ago I could walk into Jcrew and whatever I saw I wanted to purchase; beautiful jewelry pieces, shoes, embellished items, etc.Hopefully they’ll get back on track.

  4. What I've noticed over and over again is the stores aren't nearly as exciting as their on-line presence. I rarely buy anything in store because their nicest items never make it to the store!
