This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Anyone who knows me knows I mostly wear black and prefer separates to a dress.
ReplyDeleteWe were just invited to a wedding and I was freaking out at first because I basically got rid of all my dresses.
Well after trying on a slinky black dress of my daughter’s, taking a few deep breaths and consulting with some friends I realized that my usual separates with dressier shoes and accessories would work just fine, and I think it’s just as dressy as a simple black dress I might otherwise wear.
I know in some areas black is frowned upon for weddings but not around here.
I have several nice pants but coincidentally just ordered the easy pants in 365 crepe. The fit and length are fine for the season and I have several blouses in the same fabric that make it look like a jump suit. (Which I know from attending several events recently are popular.)
The only negative I’d say is that the pants don’t have belt loops. I wish they did.
It’s a Saturday evening event in Late August so I’m not sure which shoes I’ll wear. Luckily I have lots of choices there,
All sounds perfectly appropriate to me, and you can add some fun shoes that will stand out against the black.
DeleteThank you, that’s exactly what I was planning. I don’t know the couple at all and the invite is via the knot, not even printed, so that won’t give a clue. It said formal but considering the time of year and location I think sleeveless and black is ok. I have sequin/glitter heels, strappy laceup sandals and a few other options but I know both the sequin and glittery ones are comfortable enough for dancing so I might just stick with them.
DeleteDo you have a large scarf or shawl that will work with the glitter heels?
DeleteI never even considered that all black may be inappropriate! Guess I’m a true Jerseyan. Nor did I consider you’d wear anything but black. Guess I know you. 😊 You sound happy, and any couple would want to see happy smiling faces at their reception!
DeletePBanos, I do have several shawls, but I think I’d sooner have a jacket. I do have a black sequin scarf from Crew I can add as well.
DeleteCher, in some areas of the country black is frowned upon for weddings. My NYC metro area experience disputes that.

DeleteI'm from Virginia and it would be shocking there to wear black to a wedding. But now I live in metro NYC and black is the go to! Ha.
DeleteLOL I know, but it is never my first thought, to avoid black!
