"Looking to LOVE" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Finally received my order - LOVE the printed vintage cotton crewneck tees. I got the leopard, dots and stars and love all three. Great color saturation, not short and boxy and 100% cotton. More of these, please, J Crew!

  2. I have to say I've found a few things to love in the past couple of months. As many problems as J. Crew has, I feel that a lot of similar stores have done even more poorly of late. Staying hopeful for the next rollout - I haven't seen anything new on the site for a while other than a couple of random t-shirts. I'd really like to see some different styles and colors beyond the basics.

  3. I am very late to the game on these, but I recently purchased a pair of Billie Demi Boot crop Jeans on eBay. They are fabulous. Like others have mentioned, I have been buying (mostly older, even c. 2004-2005) JCrew on eBay and Poshmark for some time. It's been a bit of a crap shoot. Some items have exceeded my expectations. Some have been duds (Thomas Mason shirts have been particularly frustrating; talk about inconsistent fit). I have placed some regular JC orders for rock-bottom priced shoes in the past couple of weeks and been pleased for the $15-25 the items have cost. I recently received some Jackies, though, and boy: granted, Jackies didn't exactly last forever before (they looked worse for the wear after many washings), but the quality of the ones I had back in 2008-2009 far, far exceeds the glorified cheap t-shirt fabrication of these new ones. The sad thing is that I am keeping them because I need them as basics. Maybe someone could suggest a better alternative from another retailer?

I really appreciated Hexicon's posting of the Vanity Fair article yesterday. All I could think was: so we weren't all crazy! Indeed, stuff was sprouting holes left and right, and JC just wasn't listening, they were trying to increase their profit margins. And all those JCAs, many now moved on and greatly missed, repeatedly saying what a resource JCrew had in this blog and how stupid they were to ignore it, and we see now that indeed all this info. was falling on deaf--perhaps egotistical, but definitely non-tech savvy--ears.

I will continue to love my double-serge, Robert Noble, etc. fabulously tailored and constructed wool and cashmere! blazers, my much-better-than-today's cashmere sweater collection, my beloved matchsticks . . . and not hold my breath for the turnaround that I just don't think is possible.

In the meantime, I'm thinking of amassing a small collection of black and navy Marties . . .

  4. I made the rounds today, Nordstrom rack, Jcrew and Gap for returns and stopped thru Madewell.
The good, all the stores had shoppers.

Rack had long lines. Rack had some Madewell shorts and jackets, I saw a random Jcrew item, but there is also a lot of lower end poly garbage.

I haven’t seen the shirt Hills mall (rack is not there) this crowded in awhile. Maybe because of the weather people are going stir crazy.

The bad. I didn’t really see a window that appealed to me. Everything is just too much. More rayon floral dresses, 70s boho skirts. Jcrew did have some fresh looking items and I actually like some of the prints but the colors or cuts are off for me.

Shorts I ordered from gap are already back. Fit is lousy. Store is a mess. I’d sooner shop online.
Jcrew sale section still has stuff from late fall/early winter. Come on.
