JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. My three pairs of three too many for my closet shoes arrived today and I'm keeping them all.
    1. Suede moccasins in cobalt blue: soft as slippers, I may wear them as slippers. If I could do over I'd size up 1/2 as I think they are a bit short for the shape of my foot (long second and third toes). But so soft that they do not pinch.
    2. Stacked-heel pumps in suede K9495. On these I did size up 1/2 as I do with most J Crew high heels. They are a wee bit long, but that is better than tight. For almond toe block heel shoes they are fairly smart looking, due I guess to the lower vamp and sides. The heel is plastic :( I'd have returned based on the cheap heel if they were not such a low price. As it is, I'm sure they will be fine. They do look a little dressier than my current black almond toe pumps.
    3. Pointed-toe slides in metallic jacquard L4424. I also sized up 1/2 in these as I do for pointy toes and mules in general. I despise heels hanging over the back of shoes. They fit in my regular size (ordered both), but the extra length is good insurance. They do run wide/high in the vamp, so if you have a narrow or low volume foot a larger size might not be a good idea. They are a surprising favorite! I love the look of these mules. They are totally cool as house slippers. They'd make fun outfits out of the house as long as you are not planning on any actual walking. I can picture carrying these as house shoes when I visit in bad weather and do not want to wear wet boots around someone's house.

    1. I ordered those pumps. Curious if theyll work on me. I have the black patent Sophia’s and the suede lucite heel pumps but sometimes prefer a higher heel. They should be here today.

I also agree with your assessment of the mocs. I got the 8.5 and they just fit.i assume they’ll give a bit but I prob could have used the 9.

    2. I ordered the red moccasins, so I may return the blue (or just keep both...). Good luck with the high heels, no heels are truly comfortable. But sometimes it's fun to be really tall. Plus of course they look good with skirts.

    3. They don’t work. They hurt to even put on but they’re too big In The back. Oh well.

    4. I'm returning the heels, they are just too high for comfort. Lesson learned. I'll stick with my Clarks for now.

  2. Oh, I also received my Tall 2 Princess Mini in Cranberry Punch. This skirt is worth every $. I have it in ivory as well. It does run TTS to small in the waist. Plenty of hip room as it is an A-line. Perfect for the hourglass shape.

  3. Finally, my husband received the navy French terry short-sleeve henley L6408 and the Short-sleeve crewneck sweater L0737. He's usually a slim fit, so in both he's best in a size down. He wore the henley to work today as business casual and got an unprecedented # of positive comments and one tease (jealous!). The sweater is a bit more casual, but also a keeper. Both of these were just about $20 with stacking codes. They are perfect for the current weather (60s&70s).
