J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Has anyone been tempted by this week's promos yet? I haven't found them interesting.. and the % off hasn't been enough to inspire me.

    1. Not really, although the sale section keeps increasing.
I was contemplating the sweater tank in black with yesterday’s promo and an emailed code I had just received AND $5 rewards to make it about half price, but I remembered last year they sat on clearance for a long time so I’m thinking something must not be great about it.
Hopefully I will try on in store at some point, but I’m not in any rush since I have plenty of sleeveless black shirts (just not one exactly like that).

    2. Not inspired to even look. The promos are just not appealing to me. Why would I order a top that is 15% off today when it was 40% off last week? The whole "up to" 50% off is annoying too. Very few things were 50% off that I could find.

    3. Anything I was considering yesterday costs more than it did yesterday. What type of shopper buys in that situation? Generally, if I am considering something, even a small drop in price is just the budge I need. I'm sure many shoppers take a day to think before purchasing...

    4. Isn’t a % off sale usually a part of these deal-a-day weeks, often at the end? I think it’s likely given the mounting sale inventory. Unless it’s a collab item I want that gets included, these low %s off specific category promos aren’t too interesting.

One consequence of the tightened-up PA policy is that Crew customers are going to wait for the extra %, and not buy sale items without it now that the guarantee of getting a PA is gone. That means the sale inventory will sit longer without the extra promo, fewer sale items will sell out, and there will be less FOMO by waiting for the extra discount. In most cases when the item isn’t a unicorn, customers who know the Crew will wait.

  2. Yes, I went ahead and got a Reeds sweater for the 15% off. And last week I got some stuff for 20% off, I think? These are the first JC purchases I've made since Christmas.

  3. Specifically, last week I ordered some Adidas and pre-ordered the midi skirt with eyelet trim in black. Today I ordered the Reeds X JC mockneck.

  4. I ordered Vans for my husband. I do not remember better discount for those then 25% off.

  5. I ordered the tipped polo sweater in lightweight cashmere. It went on sale a few days ago and with the additional MONDAY promo it was a very reasonable price. It might get even better if they do a 40 or 50% off promo for sale items, but as I said this was a very reasonable price, so I decided not to wait.

  6. I’m returning the Moment of Madness a/k/a Watercolor Dress.

Pros: lovely silk, lined, good length, mainly beautiful colors and dreamy design.
Cons: strangely fitted. There is a hairy-looking blotch of black, obviously part of the design, on the center front of the dress, about 8 or 9 inches beneath the navel. If you are gasping or giggling, yes, you read it rightI I hope this placement was not planned. There is no way to fix this.

    1. Ouch those things happen. You could re-order, lightning rarely strikes twice. I'm sure CS would match the price if you offered up the embarrassing story...

    2. Oh my! That is very unfortunate... is it similar to the dark inky splotch in the model photos on the front of the dress?

    3. IRL it should not be worn in the presence of teenage boys

  7. Just stopped by Brookfield for a return and saw the everyday cashmere sweater with floral embroidery. Yikes it is THIN and SEE THROUGH. Why did they ruin such a pretty sweater with unwearable fabric? I feel like JC designs on paper, not on a real person.
