Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew thisa {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Extra 50% off sale! But no significant sale update :(
Has anyone seen any redline liberty shirts during your visits to the store? Or any mini Harper bags? I haven’t had much luck getting CS to match prices so I’m hoping there are a few gems hiding out there for me since I am shopping at a distance. TIA!

    1. My store did not have the Liberty shirts in the red line section.

    2. I found a sleeveless tank in the Betsy Ann floral print in the redline section, so it's possible!

    3. Sleeveless tank in Betsy Ann spotted in the $9.99 section at North Michigan Avenue, Chicago store today (02.19) - one size of each 00, 0, 2

  2. Thoughts on the the fit and fabric of the Juliette sweater-blazer. Based on reviews I’m assuming it’s best to size down? How does the cotton/poly/wool blend wear? I have some similar pieces in 100% cotton from Roots that I love, but am interested in the Bright Cerise for spring.

    1. Hi shopgrrrl - if you sort the reviews by "Lowest Rated", the fifth one down has a picture of the pilling on this sweater-blazer.

    2. I have the camel one in a small - I'm a 6 on top and it's on the loose side so I may have been able to size down but wanted more of a sweater fit. The arms are a bit on the loose side and I find them to have less structure after wearing it for a full day. It definitely pills - it isn't horrible and manageable with a sweater comb but the sweater is just starting to look less than perfect if that makes sense. I do really love the style though and would love another color but the quality makes me hesitate. I have the 100% merino blazer and that is in perfect condition.

    3. Thanks for the review sorting tip, silver_lining!

Anne, thanks for the review. I have the 100% merino blazer as well and mine also still looks like new. Too bad about this blend, sounds like it’s better to pass on this one. It’s a shame as I love this style as well, it’s so versatile with jeans, dress pants, skirts, dresses, etc., but I need one that will stand up to frequent wear.

  3. Anyone with an early access link for tomorrow’s roll out? If so, would love to see the new arrivals;-) TIA

    1. Will keep checking, we may get another early release tonight as I discovered last week. They were loading the website @7:15 p.m. EST. Ah the suspense

  4. Re: Collection leather jacket with peplum waist, K3313.
Posting here because I think this will get more traffic than being buried in last week's threads. I ordered the collection leather jacket with peplum from Nordstrom Rack. I haven't worn a leather jacket in forever And liked it when it came out but only saw it in a 0. I believe it was a little less expensive during the 60% off sale but I wanted to try, so I ordered from rack.
Reviews said it ran small but I wanted it to be fitted, so I tried a 2/4/6.

I don't find it to be small in the shoulders. The 2 fits but the sleeves are very short. The peplum is not really a peplum. If you're hippy or short waisted it will seem more fitted. On my long waist it does flare out a little. I actually find the fit to be similar to a schoolboy blazer. Similar length.

That said I like it with my leather pants A LOT. I need to figure out if I think it's worth the price tag and which size is best. It is a little rocker chic but not in an,unsophisticated way.

Wondering how P banos and Lynn feel about theirs!!!

    1. Regarding the style, I didn't want something that screamed leather jacket. I would wear this more like a blazer or under a warmer wool coat.

    2. Mine is arriving tomorrow. If you are fitting in the 2/4 then there is hope for me in the 6. I was too sleepy in the night to realize I should get a size up. I have a heavy leather jacket for outerwear, so I'd also wear this as a more fitted option, something I could leave on indoors. Well, I will find out tomorrow.

    3. Depending on proportions I think the length is more of a concern than the shoulders,

    4. Suz, I ended up panicking and ordered more thinking they might be small for my PA and perhaps for me if I liked them. They will arrive tomorrow. Will let you know. Sizes 4,6,8,10. We’re both 5’71/2” thin but 34DD. Nope we don’t have implants either😂 Will keep everyone posted to see what fits and doesn’t. Ones that don’t will be sent back immediately and will repost sizes here.

    5. I'm interested to hear about everybody's fit (thanks for the details, Suz!) - I'm a short-waisted 4 and ordered a 6, but meh, maybe should've gone with the 4. It'll be here tomorrow as well - I think I'd mentally gotten used to JC shipping and figured it would be here by early March, ha!

    6. I can't wait to hear everyone's opinion. I'm going to try with a fitted shirt under and see if the fabric balances out the length a little. I'll play around tomorrow and take some pics,

    7. Nordstrom and their Rack ships immediately as I’ve experienced. No complaints with Jcrew; items purchased yesterday are already on their way. Two expedited and the others standard. I’m grateful to them. I haven’t a clue as to how these leather jackets from The Rack will fit, I’m small boned/frame but tomorrow is soon enough to find out. Good luck with yours.

    8. Lynn I'm also curious about your opinion re the leather. I am not a leather connoisseur. It's not super thick. One of the jackets was smoother, two were a little puckered for lack of a better word. It was a very quick try on before running out so I'll examine further.

  5. Hi, everyone

    Happy Family Day/Presidents' Day!

I'm pretty happy with my progress for "shop less February". (But in all honesty, it's less to do with willpower and more to do with the disappearance of the massive J Crew sales inventory.)

I'd like some advice/feedback please. I've had the Parke blazer in houndstooth J4861 regular/ J4862 petite in my cart for a while. With today's 50% extra off sales item promo, it's just over $100 Canadian. It's final sale.

In January I bought the oversized blazer in English herringbone (K0030/K0031) in gray. Haven't decided whether to take tags off and keep yet. I'm not 100% sure about this blazer. The oversized fit is so different from what I usually wear. Not sure if this means that I should not keep it because that must mean it's not "my thing" or if this means that this is a good idea because it would help me expand my horizons. Maybe my eye just needs to adjust to the fit. I do like the gray tweed a lot. I think I would probably like it better than the darker Parke houndstooth material (although I don't have that in front of me to make a direct comparison). But the Parke houndstooth blazer would be a more "conventional" fit/cut for me.

I have so many blazers already that I should reasonably only have one of the two. Or if I were really disciplined, neither of them....

The 50% off promo seems to be clearing out a lot of the remaining sizes of the Parke houndstooth blazer so perhaps my dilemma will be solved for me.

I have the Parke blazer in velvet. Can anyone speak from personal experience as to whether the sizing is consistent between this wool version and the velvet version?

    Thank you!

    1. In theory, I should be all over the Parke Blazer in houndstooth. Red under collar, black and gray houndstooth. In person I was less thrilled. Something about the fabric i didn't love. I had a similar schoolboy actually sold for a big loss. Then again, I have a schoolboy in black/ivory houndstooth and love it. Haven't worn in a few years but tried on recently and it's beautiful.

I really like the oversized blazer in herringbone. I didn't see it in person and I have a similar one that's not so oversized, so I don't know how the fit compares, but I think the pattern and more subtle color is more versatile. (And my wardrobe is predominately black).

  6. Somebody brought this up last week - are there no reviews on any of the newest (2 weeks ago) items? The items that currently show up in the new arrivals section don't have reviews (unless they're a reboot of an older item like the vintage cotton tees) and also don't appear to have anywhere to write one. I hope that this is just a typical JC tech accident and that they're not doing away with them on purpose.

    1. There are very few, example the Tanti Baci Tee for example. Normally after I purchase items I will receive an email So Did You Like It with a link to put up a review. Could be simply a delay as to whether or not we keep the item or not. I’ve been receiving them about 10 days to two weeks for these to show up in my inbox

  7. Just stopped by my store and they said that the $9.99 redline sale is being extended past today and they don't have an end date yet. Really trying to clear it all! My wallet wishes it would end!

  8. I placed an order today with the 40/50 + extra 10 coupon that was mailed to me. Trying the white puff sleeve blouse, ivory square neck top (I tried this late last year and size was too small) Tahoe wash wide leg trouser jean (in tall) and the point sur high rise asymmetrical hem jeans in regular/tall size as well as the merino striped skirt.

I was at Rack briefly today to make a return - I didn't have much time but noticed some J.Crew on the racks and more Madewell than usual. My Rack score was non-J.Crew though - a pair of black Jimmy Choo Romy heels 60mm for less than $200 which will be a great addition to my work wardrobe. They're a half size too big but inserts did the trick. With my Rewards I paid $100.

  9. Suz, It appears that is it Lambskin, it will be very soft and bend. Since they list it only as leather though I would question the composition if it isn't. There can be many variants as to whether or not other materials were used. If they're puckered there are various reasons for this, how they're made, stored and god knows what else. Check the stitching and the color threads,
the lining and composition. You've got a great eye for details. They're obviously made in China, but who knows where the leather is actually from from. Honestly,I decided that I'm simply not a leather jacket wearer and will send all of them back except the one I am gifting to my PA. Back here in Florida where it's so dhot and humid at the moment, there's no need for it and when I return to MC I probably wouldn't there. I think where you're located, you would get far more use out of it and you look nice in everything. Reminds me of my husband, he could put a burlap sack on himself and look like a million bucks. I will post about the fit and what my humble opinion is after receiving today and also the sizes which will be returned so others can purchase. Pricing is ok but I wouldn't pay any more. If it were less,it would be even better:) You know the markup on retail.

    1. Sadly I will send mine back. I am a 6 (sometimes 4) and ordered 6 and it is just too small with short sleeves. It is lambskin, and a nice enough jacket. Maybe if I'd ordered the 8 I would have felt differently, but I'll not try again as I do not want to pay return shipping twice.
I like the overall shape, and the light weight, but the too short sleeves are a problem.
