Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. Was someone here looking for the leather peplum jacket Item K3313? It's at Nordstrom rack along with a lot of the vanished sale stock. $199. Black.

    1. @p, Thanks I ordered a couple for my OA in a couple of different sizes. BTW I too, am somewhat of an insomniac. Best shopping times for me are in the middle of the night. I miss CS 24/7 @ Jcrew. Always a nice group to chat with.😀 Nice to know someone is already around here on this site to get feedback and tips on items. Hope you went back to sleep.

    2. Lynn, thanks I did get some sleep, and still hope for a bit more. Fortunately I am still working from home, so when I can't sleep I just start working and that tends to put me out.

I thought you might want that jacket, and a few others on here as well. The fitted shape looks to be more flattering on a woman's shape than the 'moto' jackets. Back when I had my motorcycle I wore a leather jacket, but it was not a fashion statement. And the peplum is subtle. Looking forward to hear if it worked for you.

    3. Thank you! I have t worn a leather jacket in forever but I love how simple this one is. A little more than I wanted to spend but worth a shot. I also tried three sizes because of reviews.

    4. Suz Has, what sizes did you order? Can you return Nordstrom Rack to Nordstrom?

      Delete
    5. I ordered 2/4/6. Reviews said it ran small but IMO it depends on body type, and I could only wear this over a thin top, more like a fitted blazer so I don't want it to be too loose.
There's a Nordstrom Rack on Rt 10 just west of the Livingston circle which is about 20/25 min away so I'll just drive over. Can't be returned to Nordstrom as far as I know.

    9. Incredibly my jackets are arriving today...which is perfect since husband and daughter are on a ski trip. 😉 by the time they come home on Monday I can remove all evidence.

    10. Interested to hear what you think of them, Suz.

    11. Lol @Suz 😂 that is perfect timing! I hope that the jacket works out it looks like a great piece. I’m totally confused why Jcrew would sell of such a piece since it was selling well.

    12. Well, stupid Narvar. Tracking info isn't updated still says it's due to arrive today but there's no tracking info other than it left wherever. Grrr

  3. Insomnia for me tonight too. There are some new arrivals if you search by item type, including some new liberty prints: Sherpardly Song and Flora Belle. The flora belle is a pop over style that tends to be better for my shape so I’m going to give that a go (I haven’t bought anything since before Christmas). I’m also going to check out the hook up of the diagonal stripe merino skirt and sweater since they both are on sale. I heard somewhere on IG that the skirt is lined, which I think will be more flattering for me than all the other sweater skirts I’ve tried that were not lined. All 3 items ring up at 40% off, including the liberty shirt!

    1. Nvm, new arrivals show up under new arrivals just are not featured on the first page (if I don’t see anything new on the first page I’ll often go search by item).

  4. Purchased the merino stripe diagnol skirt and sweater which arrived recently. Very pretty colors. Top is short. I’m 5’71/2” thin with thin arms but a 34 DD, long legged and high waisted. Went up a size in the top. Skirt is lined a fuller A-line. The only problem I see with this outfit that even with diagonal stripes one has to be more willowy in stature which I am not, otherwise in my opinion not flattering for most. I also think it looks terrible on the model, dirty looking unkempt hair. Certainly doesn’t have the Wow factor for me and I have a good figure. Hubby said it looked “ok” translated he didn’t like it on me. Probably will send back. Liberty Shepardly arriving today, posted earlier looking bland. Waiting on the Flora not sure about this print either. Wish they’d done a bright turquoise or a different shade of blue.

  6. Nice to see new arrivals coming in and the 40% is a good promo, but no visit for me this week. LL Bean got my money - another cotton tunic fisherman sweater and two cashmere hoodies. I learned they also give a student/teacher discount which was a surprise.

  7. No visit for me. Heading to Richmond for a weekend getaway. The liberty shirt I ordered yesterday already shipped and I didn't see anything else I wanted.

    5. As of earlier today (yes I'm crazy and went back because I reconsidered the resume dress which wasn't there around 11am) there were only some sequin high heels which I had previously tried and found terribly uncomfortable, the plaid block heel pump in a 6, and several of the blue tweed with silver bow flats.
I tried these in 8.5 (snug) and 9 (loose) and agree the toe box felt narrow.

I also tried a crepe wrap dress in 00 which was a smidge narrow around the upper back but obscenely low cut on me, the tweed shift dress which fit nicelybut the proportions felt off as the waist sits high on my long torso so I get the dreaded butt gap, wide leg full length chinos in a stretch fabric in a 0 that fit but weren't so flattering, another pair of unflattering tan chinos in a 25 (not sure which style, could be the same as the ones I got yesterday, the high rise boy chinos), the velvet pull on pants in a 2 which I would have bought had I needed a third item but they were kind of blah, oh and a denim dress in XXS that was wide at the bottom but narrow up top and I thought I might have been stuck for a minute. Had to basically do an inversion to take it off.

There were a few dresses with elastic waists in M,L, XL and some ruched crepe/jersey dresses that weren't my style. Black lace pants, the clay cropped pants with the tie belt, tan wide leg crops with the elastic waist and tie belt from last summer, some velvet pull on pants in black and the rose leopard, burgundy velvet toothpicks.

      Delete
    6. No blockprint tops that I saw at all.

      Delete
    7. Thanks for the report, looks like no reason to go at this point. I'd tried the lace pants, but they did not work on me at all, ditto for the crops with the elastic waist (my size gave me diaper butt, and the 0 pulled at the crotch)

    https://dieworkwear.com/post/182793521989/something-about-scottish-woolens

I had heard of a couple of the listed companies, but had never heard of Beggs before. The prices are high but not out of line with other high end brands. I'm unlikely to ever buy but I found the article interesting and the pictures were inspiring.

    1. @Toronto Modern, so appreciate the article you posted. I too, found the photos inspiring. My husbands best friend comes from the Shetland Islands in Scotland and gifted him with one of these sweaters years ago. Ah,the quality and workmanship unsurpassable. Thank you again.

    2. Beautiful, I loved the 'collaborations' bright scarves. But I think my husband will need to be happy with the $10 cashmere scarf from the crazy men's sale at J Crew, and me with the $6 cashmere hat.

    3. @Toronto Modern - Interesting article. Thanks for posting it. It’s unfortunate that most of these mills have closed. I’ll happily pay more for the quality! I have a drawer full of beautiful Brooks Brothers cashmere sweaters, made-in-Scotland of Italian cashmere. Unfortunately even BB now sells a lot of made-in-China knits, but I think they still carry a limited number of the good sweaters. I also have several made-in-Scotland wool scarves that I bought at the Wall Street TJ Maxx a few years ago for a pittance. I have no use for them now, but I can’t give them up. Maybe I’ll travel to somewhere cold some day...

  11. JCA poll, those of you who have or tried on the Poppy ballet flats in tweed J8237 that Suz reported seeing yesterday in the sale section, what size do you have? Reviews are all over the place and Alyssa indicated they run large. I’m a size 8 in shoes elsewhere and in Kiki and Cece, a 7.5 in Sophie and Cleo loafers (remember those?!) and an 8.5 in the old Martinas. Any feedback appreciated as they would be final sale, but for the price I can’t pass them up!

    1. I tried them on and found them TTS length-wise, but too narrow for me in the toe-box. My foot runs a little on the wider side though.

      Delete
    2. We are foot twins- I'm an 8 in Ceces and 7.5 in everything else (Dulci's, Avery's, Gemmas). To expand upon my "run big" comment- 7.5 was okay to a little loose- I felt like my heel was slightly slipping out of the back, though it was only a very brief try on bc I decided I didn't love the bow. Hope that helps!

    2. I was looking at that too. I wish it were more of a scoop neckline, or had cap sleeves, or came in petites. I feel like the proportions are weird. The heavy fabric and high neck juxtaposed with the sleevelessness and floral print seem like an odd contrast? The print is beautiful. Make it in a pencil skirt and I'll buy it in a minute.

  13. Liberty Shepardly Print arrived and here is what my PA said about it. TTS, with the floral pattern there are various shades of lavende, brilliant purple, some heather aqua, a dark olive green and a more kelly green, a little brown sprig here and there, sapphire blue, a heather peri type blue, a little darker blue , cerise, shell pink and perhaps it’s a light guava, a little black and a little gray stems. Body of shirt is Ivory. Judging from the photos she sent I am dizzy trying to identify all of the colors as there are so many variants. Purple shades seems to be most predominant at least this is what the two of us saw. Fabric is very lightweight. Anyone that has a Brilliant Purple color in the featherweight cashmere(she put mine over it) definitely can add pop to this otherwise bland blouse. I am just using one of my colors as an example. It definitely needs something to jazz it up and not the earrings that were pinned to the collar in the previews 😂

    1. OT but brilliant purple is such a gorgeous color, I miss it!

    2. Happy I purchased this color and all of the others when they were worthy of being called cashmere years ago and they haven’t pilled at all. Heather Peri looks nice for a more subtle look, various shades of pink pops it, green looks very nice, and heather aqua looks very pretty as well as heather hyacinth. I believe they put the bright colored earrings on the collar to add some pop of color. Still on the fence about keeping it and was hoping the company released some new designs in necklaces. I gravitate towards mixing whimsical and conservative. Have any ideas?

  14. I found a few more things on my trip today. Four items for $29. Black sweater with jeweled shoulders, olive lace 3/4 sleeve top, black point sur lace trim top and crepe faux wrap top in light pink with the navy floral print. Couldn't say no at those prices.

  15. I received the Tall Point Sur wide-leg full-length pant in caramel in my usual size 2. Too short not full length, and ran a bit small. I love the color, but will return. I'm not going to size up, because they would still be too short. Maybe I will try the officer pants if they are restocked in tall.

  18. This should go in the vent thread but why do they always send bday coupon codes that don’t work! And why is the same mercantile rain boots that show up on both factory and retail websites higher priced in the regular J Crew website vs factory (well technically the list price is higher on factory but it’s been on forever promo for less than the retail price which is excluded from all promos). It’s sold out in my size in factory website so I guess I have to buy the higher priced on retail website even though it’s the same item! Tempted to just buy the Target version!

  19. Does anybody know if coats were included in this sale? I'm also curious to know what bags, shoes and blazers were included on the women's side. It seems that stores are marking stuff down inconsistently.
The irony of the situation is the reports that the company is drowning in sale stock but they unloaded the desirable pieces from the warehouse instead of the million velvet tanks and shorts languishing in stores. Not quite sure who is minding the shop.

    1. My store had coats during last week's $19.99 phase of the sale, but they went quickly! I ended up with h2076 in navy, j7228 in gray, and k0896 in black. I remember they also had one Collection Lurex tweed oversized coat (J8515) and a Perfect Winter Parka (H2222). Bag-wise they had a few of the Harper Mini Satchel (J9604) and the Mini Velvet Signet (K0958). There were also a couple black tweed blazers with a silver thread - can't find the item now. This stuff was all gone by the end of last weekend though.

I agree about inconsistency! When I went to a store across town, they seemed to have way less marked down. Maybe the good stuff had just already sold.

    2. Kel, would you mind sharing the store? I may try to give them a call to see if I can snag a coat if there are any left in their stock room.

  22. @fleur de lys, I am considering these too and yes they do remind me of old J Crew. Pretty colors. Not sure how much wear I would get out of them though. I only wear heels when it’s an absolute necessity and yes I collect them, but I am a complete klutz when I have to walk more than 50 ft in them. Also considering the color print brocade pointed toe flats. Do you like these?

    1. The slingback heels do look lovely, I love the snakeskin print too but don’t think I’d get much use out of them as I too usually wear flats or open toe sandals when it’s really hot. Part of me wants to buy things that are old Jcrew in fear of them going out of business someday so perhaps they’d be an investment. 😉
@Lynn, I caved and ordered the canary yellow sorrento sweatshirt. Thanks for your previous input on it. I really don’t need another sweatshirt and I’m not 100% sure about the size of the graphic but my yellow obsession won and I have to try it.

    2. @jan, sounds like we are “birds of a feather” with yellow. It is a beautiful color. Wish there was a sweater or sweatshirt in the same exact color. If you don’t care for the graphic at least you can admire the beautiful color and gauge other yellow items that may be released. It’s weight is similar to the Mon Cheri.

    3. @Lynn Chunky heels are the heels that get worn, my kind of heels. I have a couple of kitten heels and while they’re very elegant I don’t wear them that often. They always manage to find the cracks in the pavement;-). The brocade pointed toe flats look gorgeous and remind me of the Vivs of yesteryear.

    4. @fleur de lys, Thank you very much.I’m going to try both. Just wish I could view and try on at a store. Tough time with JCrew shoes at times, narrow heel and medium width we’ll see. Have a nice weekend.

I noticed that new items on the website don’t have reviews (and I can’t see where one could do a review). Not sure if it’s just the Canadian site but I hope they’re not removing that feature. I can only see reviews/write a review feature on older items.

  23. Lynn, thank you for the article above on Scottish woolens. That was a treat. I am off to visit my scarf collection and dig my husband’s cashmere ones out of the drawer. Why don’t men wear scarves? We are in the frozen Midwest and I rarely see them.

I haven’t heard of these mills but I have splurged on a couple Brora cashmere pieces over the years, also Scottish, and they are incredible. It’s good to learn about these places - it’s makes one more thoughtful about buying low quality fast fashion.

    1. @Ruffles, Thank you for the thank you but Toronto Modern posted it. I don’t know why men don’t wear scarves in the US but my husband is European and wears them when we are home in Europe. Wow, living in the Midwest or anywhere else where it gets cold I would have assumed men would wear a scarf. I think they look so nice.I do see a few when in NY or Boston when traveling but again, nowhere as in Europe. My husband could wear a burlap sack head to toe and look gorgeous😂 The pieces of quality cashmere you or anyone else splurges on lasts a lifetime and are a good investment in my humble opinion. In fairness, I have purchased some of the Jcrew scarves in the bright colors and I think given what they are and if you pay a lot less for them are a decent compromise. They certainly feel better than the Everyday cashmere sweaters of late.

    3. I like some of the menswear-inspired looks she wears, and I also like some of the retro-inspired looks in her collections. I would have bought one or two of her Target collab pieces but all of the dresses were so short! I tried on one of her blouses in a department store last month (so I guess it was the VVB line). The pattern and cut were gorgeous classics, but it fit very small (I could barely get into the size 12), and I wouldn’t have been willing to pay $200 CAD for a polyester blouse.

    4. I didn't know or realize she had a collar with target. I know her regular pieces are way beyond my budget and no need for my lifestyle, so I just take inspiration from her looks.

  29. Does anyone know the difference between the button-up shirt in Japanese denim (K9810) and the Everyday chambray shirt (G7529)? I received the Japanese denim shirt but it’s a wide unfeminine cut; curious if the everyday is cut differently.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I haven't compared the two but I have the chambray shirt. It's not exactly a feminine cut either. Not like the slim perfect shirts. I think the difference is really just the material. But I haven't seen the Japanese denim version nor compared them side by side. Just my guess.

      Delete
    2. It's funny I just got a chambray shirt that looks just like the Japanese denim, with the buttons on the pockets. Fabric is cotton and linen though. I also have an always chambray shirt and I sized up to a small and that's not any more feminine. I usually bring it as an extra layer for warm weather or for layering.

      Delete
    3. Yeah, I find the chambray shirt cuts tough - they look cute online but when I wear them I often feel like an extra from The Shawshank Redemption. Maybe they need to be thinner/more broken in so they "flow" better? The best one I had was a perfect-fit shirt from years ago that was chambray colored but had the front and back darts. So not really chambray but had the look of one that was more feminine. Factory has one they call "perfect fit" (item J4720).
Sorry Unknown, this is no help!

      Delete
    4. Thanks all! I went ahead and ordered the Everyday Chambray for comparison. I used to have a gorgeous J.Crew chambray button-down from about a decade ago and the fabric "flowed" perfectly. Alas, it got torn last summer and I've been on the hunt for a replacement ever since. ~ Erin
