  1. i got an email saying an order with a backordered item was on hold. i've never gotten that message before... and, of course, i can't get thru to CS right now.

  2. I ordered the floral pencil skirt last Monday. This weekend I received the don't worry your order is on schedule email. Yesterday I received an email from a customer service rep stating the order is taking longer than usual but should be here in the next 1-2 business days. This is just getting ridiculous. I have no idea if the item is going to get cancelled or not. I don't even care at this point. It is one item. If you cannot ship one item in 9 days should you even be in business? I understand this is a first world problem but it just makes me not want to order anything on line moving forward and my closest store is an hour away so that isn't an option. I thought the delayed shipping was a holiday problem but I guess not.

    1. I got the "on schedule" email too and my two orders did arrive quickly after that. But the fact remains that I ordered them so long ago that I couldn't remember what was in the packages.

  3. Had trouble convincing myself to spend $44 on a T-shirt dress at J crew yesterday, and just realized I spent 30 on a coverup from Lands End earlier in the week without batting an eye. I know both pieces are inexpensive, but my point is that I no longer trust J Crew items to last long enough to warrant spending a fairly small amount on them. This may be the end of my shopping love affair with J crew.

    1. I'm shopping other places now. I still order and keep a few things from J. Crew, but I was an obsessed J. Crew shopper. They had to work pretty hard to lose me as a customer, I was a really big fan of their aesthetic and their quality.

    2. I'm not sure why I have an emotional attachment to J Crew... Would love to know other places you've been pleased with, Cate. I'm shopping less in general, but have a need for quality pieces and updates from time to time. Thanks!

    3. I got the Boden catalog today and there’s a few cute prints - a parrot print on dresses, and a cityscape print on a wrap dress. Also a cute floral print on a viscose top. Honestly if they were JC, we’d be all over it! I defnintely feel we have an emotional attachment to JC and a bizarre loyalty. I feel like I put up with poorer quality to keep wearing JC than I would Ann Taylor or Loft or BR or Club Monaco (or Boden).

    4. I don't dislike Boden at all, and they have some cute things lately, but I don't see them as that similar to J. Crew. Different brand of preppy to me (I also think Boden is more conservative overall).

    5. Boden’s Freya linen dress looks gorgeous! I’d buy one in every colour except that shirt dresses don’t really work for my body type. The Happy (yellow) is so rich and bright, and the Rouge is the type of red I like to wear.

  4. Not a vent, but final sale seems to be gone! I have a feeling that Friday shall be the 50% off sale day of the daily promo they are running so if you see something pop back, you can always aim for a PA.

  5. Ugh. Prices are bouncing around again. The Liberty White Garden shirt was marked down to $60 something Canadian. Now back up to regular price of $125. There were a few other things that had been marked down that are back to regular price.

This should not bother me since I am not supposed to be shopping (much), but strangely, it does annoy me.

These are clothes, not airline seats. Once they are marked down, they are not supposed to go up! :-)

  6. Not a vent, but a question, please

As other JCAs have noted, there is a strange absence of reviews on the website. Has anyone seen the newest lady jacket in multicolor cobalt tweed with braided trim (navy) L0393 petite and L0350 regular "live"? I will sheepishly admit that I already have the recently released lady jacket in multicolour with braided trim in black rainbow multi - K9835 regular and K9843 petite. I didn't pay much attention to the black version when I saw it online, but I loved it in person. The online pictures of the navy version are not the greatest but am wondering if it has the same "looks much better in person" phenomenon going on.

    Thanks very much

    1. I saw it today at Brookfield. It was a little too much color for me - like one too many things going on.

    2. Thanks, eeps! Good way of describing it. Appreciate the feedback.

    3. I ordered the cobalt tweed jacket and it came yesterday. I am on the fence about it. I love the Lady Jackets but this one is lacking in quality. I'd say it's one notch about Zara quality, maybe two notches but I query whether this will hold up beyond two seasons - and I keep my clothes for years. So if they are going to make this quality it should be priced at $100 not $250. I paid $150 for it but that is still too much for the quality. It's also a tad bit boxy on me, so another reason I am on the fence. I have not seen the black version. I wonder if it is the same quality. I don't live near a store. I wish J Crew would get their act together. The quality has to improve. If I want this quality I'll shop at Zara for a fraction of the price. I don't mind paying $250-300 for a very good quality piece. Tory Burch gets that very well.

    4. Hi, sega61

I will say that the black one does not seem as high quality as my similar older J Crew jackets. The fabric seems less sturdy/thick. But maybe I'm wrong in equating sturdiness/thickness with quality. The thinner fabric does seem to allow for better draping. I got it during a 40% off promo and I suspect that at some point there will be a better deal, but I got impatient.

  7. To all above, good description. Oddly enough most sizes are sold out on Nordstrom’s website. I haven’t seen it in person however it does look a little busy online. I prefer the older version of the real English Tweed Lady Jacket in the Turquoise one that was far better made back in 2017 that I purchased for $67.00. I noticed Kate Spade has a stud trim in Perfect Peony poly and elastayne and this looks pretty. The price point is $448.00. Not interested in paying for the name. Speaking of TB, I looked at a pair of her sailor pants priced at $448.00 and loved them, quality was ok, but wasn’t willing to pay the price even though I can afford them again just for the name. Sill searching for a nice pair. Would buy the old Jcrew ones if I could locate a pair. I thought they were just as nice.

    1. The KS Perfect Peony jacket has some beautiful colors for spring. I always eye the Lady Jackets as I love tweed, but never pull the trigger as I don’t think I’ll get enough wear out of them. Then I picked up the Gap Icon jacket in tweed two weeks ago as I loved the jean jacket cut. I haven’t worn it yet. It was on sale for under $50, and I’m hoping the more casual cut will mean I get more wear out of it.

  8. I saw the KS one, in a coat, which I loved, but it's too expensive and the color is a bit wild.
