Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Nordstrom has a couple of new items not on the J Crew website that I noticed including a cute colorblock gingham bikini. Wonder if that will make its way to the regular site.

  2. Trying to get back on schedule after returning from South Africa (great trip with my son), so up too early & decided to look at new arrivals. There are some items I like. Liberty Flora Belle popover and beach pants. This hook up could work well. Could see wearing this outfit on weekends and vacation. Also like leopard slingback flats, penny ankle scarf tie sandals in gold and midi skirt in stretch linen (wish skirt was 100% linen). I don’t wear lots of gingham, but I am a fan of pink, so the cotton cardigan is on my list too. After the $9.99 sale giveaway, I will wait to see how things sell even with 40% promo. I’m planning to stop in this weekend to see new arrivals. Waiting on a single package to arrive from $9.99 sale which is my only J Crew purchase for February. That’s a record for me LOL!

    1. Stores are still offering $9.99 redline sale. One store had $19.99 signage, but when I inquired if price was $9.99, SA said yes and that’s how they rang up. Still too much sale stuff and it wasn’t $9.99. No idea how they’re going to move that merchandise. Stores had some of the new arrivals, but many items were missing. Didn’t try any new arrivals because items I was interested in weren’t in store; picked up toothpick jeans in black and garment dyed pink since they were red-lined. Needed another pair of black denim to give my Frame jeans a break. Wanted pink denim to wear for spring and summer with Liberty prints and the jeans match perfectly.

  3. I know it's not the end of the month yet, but I thought I'd look back on all my purchases in January and February and compare what I got and how I feel about them. So I failed the NSF :( but!!! I do see I was way more selective with what I bought and I'm very happy with my February purchases. January had some great items but I see that more than a few were impulse buys with sale goggles. I hope I can go into March being even more selective and maybe even NSM as a goal?

    1. The redline sales did me in for NSF. although since I saw #frugalfebruary I prefer that. I've already worn all my sweaters. I'd say the black lace pants are probably #notaneed and I wish I waited a week and paid half, but if I wear them a few times a year that's fine. I have to check my email store receipts ad figure it all out,

    2. Well, I sold more than I bought in Feb, although my Jan bill was $$$ and I sold a lot to balance that out too. Still I think all things considered I have had a fairly successful #frugalfebruary

      Delete
    3. I had a weak moment with the redline sale (two weak moments to be precise), but my JC spending in February is 16% of my JC spend for January! Nothing compares to 2017 though, when I actually managed NSF. *sadtrombone*

    4. My NSF failed as I ordered a bathing suit that was selling out and the canary sorrento sweatshirt (despite really not needing another sweatshirt). I did it for the color :)
Canada doesn’t have a promo on New arrivals so it’s making it easier to not be tempted. It was still much better than January so I’m feeling pretty good about it.

    5. Jan, sorry to hear about the sweatshirt and swim suit. I order the Jackie Cardigan in Vintage Citrus with sequins. This might be an option. I will have to see this in person as I’m not too sure about the sequins. Let you know. There’s always the cashmere BF and crew neck in vintage citrus. I am hoping there will be more yellows coming out.

    6. Hi Lynn, sorry I meant it failed because I bought things instead of refraining for NSF. :) I haven’t received the items yet since it takes a while to Canada. I’m confident that I will like the yellow shade since you gave it your approval and we’ve both been looking for similar yellows. I look forward to hearing how you like the Jackie, it looks very pretty!

I almost ordered the peony Sul Mare tee but figured I would wait until reviews for sizing. I hope that the items you ordered work out!

    7. Chiming in on NSF.....I’m not having any trouble maintaining NSF vis a vis J.Crew thanks to their high shipping costs and positively punitive return shipping costs for Canada ($12 and $25 respectively). Since my local store closed, I can simply no longer take a chance on things that might not fit (e.g., pants, dresses). I’m about to ship back my beloved Stubbs & Wooten loafers that were too small, hoping I can recoup my $25 via PayPal as suggested by TornontoModern.
Unfortunately my NSF plan went off the rails at Gap/Banana Republic earlier this week and I’m expecting a large order of shoes and dresses. Gap had a new eyelet dress that looked promising, and I grabbed some cheap BR velvet loafers that will have to stand in for the S&W loafers as I’ve given up hope that they will reappear on the J.Crew site.

    8. Hi shopgrrrl, I’m really missing the store that closed (Ottawa) as no others are near me. Work has been stressful and I miss my happy place of heading into Ottawa to stop at Jcrew. Thank you for the reminder re: PayPal return shipping. I hope that it works for you! I’ll have to keep it in mind in case I need it.

    9. @ jan, the Sul Mare tee is perfect. Ordered in the medium, tts, slightly loose but not sloppy looking nd love the color with the navy letting. Placement is fine and a lot better than the Canary yellow sweatshirt we purchased.

  4. I purchased the Navy Midi Linen skirt, a pair of Cyprus sandals in red,the brocade pointed toe flats, the snakeskin colorblock sandals (need to have more holes punched in the strap as my heels are very narrow, the pink multi color stripe boatneck tee, the Liberty Flora Bell sleeveless top and popover, the jackie yellow sequin sweater, jackie bright kelly and a 365 camisol in the bright kelly, the peony"Sul Mare a Capri, and now onsidering purchasing the sandals with the removable scarf tie. I would use my own in brighter colors. I went back and forth on the no2 floral pencil skirt which is sold out, hoping it will come back so I can at least try it. Canceled the preorder on the cashmere cardigan featherweight in Dazzling yellow, it appears to similar to a 2016 Jackie in Bitter Lemon and also Bright Citrus of last seasonWould have been nicer in Vintage Citrus or Canary. Also preordered Seaside Aqua in the same featherweight cashmere but I am going to cancel this order too. I am skeptical about the current and actual weight of the featherweight and quality factor which I have ranted on and on about in the past. The gingham not sure about, I already have an old cashmere featherweight windowpane print in fuschia and orchid.

    1. You consistently pick things I would like to wear!
I would not call the navy linen skirt a midi, it is knee length.
I nearly ordered the pink stripe boatneck tee, but I have enough tees for this year (and several more).
Let us know how the color works out on the sequin Jackie. It looks very pretty.
That is a particularly pretty Liberty print, I like it better than the tiny scale prints. The midi skirt with the asymmetrical hem looks neat too - though it looked odd on the model side shot - sort of pouffed in the backside.

      Delete
    2. Thanks p, I wondered why they called it a midi. I think I would wear it with a Saint James tee, navy/white red/white maybe even the other pink stripe tee, Jackie in the yellow has gold sequins I was told. We’ll see. That Liberty Print I like you think the Blue Liberty is far prettier than the Shepardly Floral which I immediately sent back with actual pics to the VPS. Too muted . Everything I ordered is being overnighted so I will be able to post ASAP upon receiving unless someone goes to a store and purchased the identical items which I would appreciate feedback in. What’s your take on the new jewelry? Sort of like the flower power earrings😂 by the way, you have very nice taste in items and I’m always grateful for your input. Those Point Sur wide leg cropped pants are arriving today. Hope I like them and fit. Not much else on the new launch excites me although I might bite in the navy gingham pencil skirt. Have a great day and hope you’re feeling much better!

    3. Do you mean the enamel flowers with the crystal? They come in a clip version, which is what I would choose, yellow or white. Look like something Mommy would have worn in the 1950/60s. She had a great pin that was a crystal bee, but my SIL made off with it. She still has an large enamel daisy pin I might wear - I dont do pins a lot since they make holes.
Good luck with the Point Sur pants - you may have the figure that works.
I will be at the B&M tomorrow to make returns, so I will look at the new arrivals and hopefully not buy anything.

    4. Yes, I thought about the yellow, white and even the Cerise. 40% I will try them. My mommy wore them too, pins and brooches and a beautiful cameo ring, and cameo pin which I wear with my heart. I really love the old vintage pieces far more than wearing a silly CC brooch or whatever unless it’s at least 75 yrs old😂Thanks for the heads up in the pants will let you know. If you see any sailor type pants around town with gold buttons in front and lacing in the back would you please let me know? I was tempted to buy a pair of Tory Burch but they weren’t worth the price. I’m looking for a cropped pair like Jcrew’s old ones. I wish Jcrew would relaunch those. Keep us posted on what you see and the lowdown. Thanks so much.

    5. I know exactly the pants you mean. My FIL was in the Navy during WWII and I bet he did not know how stylish the clothing was!
Report back on the earrings, and I'm glad you got a great deal on the Alison Lou purple pair. Can't wait to wear them with summer dresses.

    6. I'm also a big fan of vintage pins and brooches. (I still have a giant flower pin on my Parke topcoat) I collect the enamel Weiss ones - the daisies, sometimes with a ladybug. I find them way more charming than anything made in the past decade! You guys are giving me an idea: I should start piling floral on floral - enamel floral pins on Liberty tops. That would be cute for spring.

    7. @eeps Yes do that, it would be fine!

    8. @eeps, go for it,wear it proudly, guaranteed you will make a statement. P I know you have a living mother, eeps, I hope you do, my mother passed away last year but always looked so beautiful and chic just wearing a beautiful pin or brooch. My grandmother and my great aunt wore tons of these. They were born in the very early 1900’s and passed on all of these items to my mother and then to me. They’re so gorgeous and there’s nothing really out there today that compares. Hey girls you’re starting a trend!

    9. @Lynn, so sorry to hear your sweet mom passed away. I do treasure mine, she lives in the same town so I see here most every day. I even have a cocktail ring that belonged to my great-grandmother who emigrated to the US as an indentured servant when she was only 14. Its white gold filigree with a large aquamarine.

    10. @ P, Thank you very much for your kind words. You are fortunate to have her. Your poor grandmother must have had a terrible life experience. I’m sure that is one of the most priceless pieces of jewelry in your own collection. It sounds exquisite. So many beautiful pieces of jewelry back then. My mother was one of the kindest, sweetest and classiest women I have known and not because she was my mother. A true lady in every sense of the word.

  6. Probably won't visit on purpose - hit up a store in DC last week and was sorely disappointed in the sale section - it is TERRIBLE. How are they going to sell this stuff? I was hoping that some of the stuff that disappeared (green lace spaghetti strap dress, maroon point sur maxi, v neck sleevless tops with lace detail) would reappeear (they were all in my cart before the great sale wipeout) but no. Has anyone seen these items anywher?e

    1. FlowerPower, I may have seen the spaghetti lace on Nordstrom’s Rack online.

    2. Right dress, wrong color. I had the green in my cart. Where did all of these go? Perhaps they will return once it gets warm?

    3. It's so disappointing, isn't it? Broken record, but I have items I liked but needed to exchange. And I really think they could have both sold a lot (of some things) and done right by their frequent customers by having a "last chance" sale. I understand needing to liquidate, but don't appreciate the sudden, unexplained disappearance. Sigh. I've seen some items on Rack, but the ones I really wanted are nowhere to be found. Hope you find the green lace dress. I happened to have ordered it right before The Vanishing, and really like it in person. Thankfully it fits, too.

  8. I stopped in last night and tried on several things - pics on my Instagram stories @fablifeforever and I'm hoping to get a blog post up this weekend. My store didn't have a lot of the new gingham so I tried a mix of some new items and the last rollout with the heart items, etc. (dress and skirt - thought the skirt was adorable but I find the heart print too limited seasonally). I ended up with a few white tops - the puff sleeve blouse and the new eyelet top (runs big but is super cute, not the funnel neck top). I tried the gingham wrap dress which was actually super cute but I had the wrong undergarments on so I was busting out of it lol. but it's true to size. White trouser jeans are too short in my regular size and a little big and I did try the Point Sur cropped striped pants but personally not for me (didn't take pics, I should have). While tall, I have thicker legs and I felt they aren't flattering on my midsection and I feel like they just say 'hi, look at my thighs'. I went up a size when I tried them on which meant they were big in my waist and I was at the end of trying clothes on so was done for the night. Another girl had them on while I was there, she looked great (in a size 24 and probably 5'3").

I am contemplating the vintage straight cargo pants, tried some VS fit jeans on last night and this is a favorite fit of mine at Crew. Our dress code will be relaxing soon at work so I think I'll have the opportunity to work in jeans occasionally but I still like dressing "up" for work so I don't think I'll be too casual :)

    Replies
    1. I love the ruffle-neck eyelet top that I think you're talking about. It'd be my favorite from this rollout if only it weren't long sleeved (I don't think the summery look of this top pairs w/ long sleeves - it should be short sleeved or sleeveless; maybe they'll do another version soon).

      Delete
  9. The Point Sur full length wide leg pants were a fail for me due to thighs as well, and I decided not to go up a size for the same reason. Those pants might be great for a person with slender thighs.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I like to think of it more as a proportion issue, as I have had a similar problem with some styles and I don't think I have large thighs. There are some cuts that will always be loose around my middle/torso and tight on my thighs. Sizing up doesn't help because they get unattractively baggy and the thighs are still tight. I had this issue with the teddy pants when they came out, and the wool sailor version, the blackand white jacquard version, and the Sammy chinos (I think I'm getting the names correct) and even the Patio pant in wool AND cotton. I loved all those styles and even bought several but couldn't get them to fit the way I wanted and ended up giving them away or selling.

      Delete
    2. @pbanos, The point Sur wide leg pants fit me perfectly received today. I was surprised due to the reviews, but it was you that said thin legs and hip might work. They did and you made the right call. Thank so much for input. You have just been awarded the title of JCA online vps😂

      Delete
    3. @Lynn, hooray! I thought that would be the case.
Sometimes I read negative reviews like "shoulders too wide/big" or "waist too small" as a clue that something will fit me. We can have very different proportions and they all work well, but not all in the same garment.

  10. My thoughts on new arrivals:
    - I like the look of the gingham trench, especially styled with the matching pencil skirt - it looks very 1960s. But having owned a gingham trench for the past 10 years and never once wore and had to eventually donate it, I can't work it into my daily life. Every time I reached for it, I thought I looked like a walking picnic blanket.
    - Jackie with eyelet cutouts looks so dowdy on the model. I mean, if the model can't wear it and look fashionable... I'm sure it can look great if properly styled. I wish JC had made an effort.
    - sleeveless button-up dress in oversized gingham - yay for pockets, boo for poor styling. The model looks like she has no figure. This makes me think it's meant for 12 year old girls.
    - sequined Jackie in yellow is BEAUTIFUL. I'm not a sequins person but this is going on my wishlist, with the matching shell.
    - Liberty Pavilion floral print - gorgeous. I wish they'd put this on a different top silhouette. I have too many ruffle neck tops and Perfect shirts. (and popovers)
    - the brushstroke hookup is a. lot. to. look. at. Talk about heavy.
    - what on earth is the sleeveless bow-back top????

Spring is one of my favorite seasons because hello colors! but this is not my favorite rollout. The colors aren't as bright as I'd like, and the silhouettes are the same from the past 2-3 seasons at least. I'm interested in patterns, and there's nothing but gingham and stripes here. Even the Liberty prints aren't exciting me very much. The styling is so basic, I wish they'd actually hire someone to style their photos. And if they do, that person needs to get their head out of Madewell.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes they are neglecting fabrics, silhouettes and style overall and just relying too much on past shapes. I actually don't think brushstroke print is as bad as everyone is saying, could picture wearing the top with jeans (but only the top, not other items with that same print).

      Delete
    2. I had to look at some of this because I had not looked at several categories.
That sleeveless button up gingham dress reminds me of the lands end dresses toddlers wear over leggings. I love a shirtdress style or fit and flare but that's not it.

      Delete
    3. Suz! thats a tunic lol! JCrew made us a toddler tunic.
A few years ago, JC had a beautiful gingham dress. It had a 50s silhouette with a swing skirt but a very short torso. (it sold out before i could figure out my size) Wish they’d rerelease that instead of these really straight, shapeless silhouettes.

  11. @eeps,@p, thanks for taking the time to post. Happy to hear you like the Jackie Sequined yellow sweater. Can’t wait for it to arrive, now I’m hopeful after your post. What do you think of the Flora Bell Print? I’m hoping it will be more vibrant in person. Pavilion is interesting but I’m Liberty’d out right now. Agree we need Brighter more vibrant colors across the board. The company should have released more items instead of waiting til March 19th. I wouldn’t wait for spring to wear your earrings. Adds some punch to drab weather. Cant wait for mine to arrive. Will post

    1. Not a fan of the Flora Belle print, it reads similar to paisley to me, and I find paisleys to be aging. I do love the vibrant blue background though. I tend to like Liberty prints that are super floral and feminine - like an English country floral if that makes sense.

      Delete
    2. eeps, when the floral bell arrives and seen in person, it will be hit or miss for me. I'm not really loving the recent prints overall though. There have been far prettier ones in the past. Agree that the super floral prints which are more feminine are prettier. This one looks more like a Ratti print for some reason and not a pretty one.

    3. Hi Lynn, I posted near the top of the thread to clarify but I haven’t received the sweatshirt yet. I’m sure l’ll keep it based on your thumbs up to the color! Returns are $25 for Canada so it likely wouldn’t be worth returning anyway. I look forward to receiving it and seeing the canary yellow. :) I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the Jackie cardi. Thanks again

  13. ugh. am i the only one that loathes this rollout?? gingham is cute--if not tired--but oversize? very hard to pull off in a flattering fashion. im so worried about the crew but not enough to waste my money on stuff i wont wear.

    1. I don't loathe it, but I stopped by a store and there was nothing I was interested in. I have a few gingham button downs from past years and I hardly wear those. I don't want more gingham. I feel like I'm going to sit it out until fall.

      Delete
    2. Yeah, sadly there's nothing I wanted to give a second look. I have one gingham button down from years ago that I rarely wear. I don't want poly in my knits or jeans, and some of the pieces IMO don't pass the Kohl's test. After seeing how much I spent in return shipping to JC last year, I'm much more hesitant to order things "just to try".

      Delete
    3. Silver_lining, I was in my store yesterday and I honestly was using the Kohl’s Test! It really helps me focus. For those who are wondering, for the the Kohl’s Test, you imagine a J Crew item you are considering is from Kohl’s with a Kohl’s label and you ask yourself if you would still buy it. A lot of J Crew stuff in the past couple years doesn’t pass it in terms or style or quality.

It was nice to see some new things and I’m ready for Spring colors. My store didn’t have a lot of the gingham pieces but a large scale one like that looks fresh on the hanger, but like a tablecloth on me. I think I will buy the gingham slingbacks w a good promo. New Liberty prints are a bit muted, and paisley-type designs don’t look modern to me. What I really want is a good-quality cashmere pullover in a lovely clear Spring yellow - any suggestions?

      Delete
    4. @ruffels, there is the vintage citrus yellow in a crew neck cashmere and a boyfriend v. neck which I have. It’s a soft pale almost pastel yellow. There is also another cardigan coming out in cashmere featherweight in Dazzling Sun. Very very similar to the. Bright Citrus or Bitter Lemon. This can be preordered you’d have it next week. Quality on the other hand isn’t anywhere near the truly old Jcrew cashmere. Good luck there are several of us here that are begging for a nice yellow cashmere.

    1. It was still going on at my store yesterday (Chicago Southport) but the red line items were mixed in with the regular sale section and pretty picked over. Always a chance to score a return though!

    2. The store in Rockaway NJ still had redline items but they were sparse. Still had velvet toothpicks and velvet tanks. Plus some rugby shirts marked to 4.99 One or two belts. A few mens pants in 28-30 waist. The nicest items were XXS or XL - a silk sleeveless top, a couple fairisle sweaters, not much.

    6. And it makes me want to wear a bubble necklace! Raise your hand if you still have one :)

    7. Oh I love it all! How have they fallen so far?

    8. That has my Tipped Hacking Jacket. I've the black/grey version. It is a quality blazer, I'll never need to replace it. Heavy and very warm. I like it with a black wool pencil skirt for corporate days, with a grey turtleneck and black jeans for casual.

    9. Cate, I still have a black bubble necklace tucked away in a drawer. Haven’t worn it in years but can’t seem to part with it.

now I will go stare blankly at the silk lining of my Bella jacket. Sigh,

    11. I like the bubble necklace on others, but it doesn’t work for me. I bought it in a beautiful royal blue color and wore it ONE time. It felt huge, awkward and cheap to me. I eventually donated it.

@p banos - I love the black & gray tipped hacking jacket, too. I missed it originally, but I found one in my size on Ebay, NWT. Unfortunately, like many Ebay items, it had an undisclosed defect. The buttons were still wrapped in tissue in the pictures, but when I removed the tissue, some of the buttons were heavily tarnished. I suspect the seller was using the tissue to hide the buttons and added it herself. Anyway, the jacket is still beautiful, but I’ve barely worn it due to the buttons. I think I may have some duplicate buttons in my stash, but the buttons aren’t good quality and don’t do justice to the jacket, so I plan to take it to a specialty store for special buttons at some point.

    12. @Jeanne, well worth replacing the buttons. You can buy buttons online. Then you have the *fun* of sewing on all those buttons.

    13. Jeanne, same for me. The two bubble necklaces I still have (black and white) are from Factory. The scale on the Factory version was slightly smaller and it worked better for me. I don't know why I keep them though... nostalgia, maybe, since I never wear them.

  19. The saving grace of this roll out are the sequin jackie and the shoes!
Ordered the vintage citrus sequin embroidered Jackie cardigan J4839 and a pair of the gingham Colette strappy slingback K7888. The color pairing of the Jackie is just beautiful. I'll pair it with a waxed cotton olive mini skirt.

The tiny round buckle and leather button holes on the straps of the Colettes are the types of thoughtful details I like to see more of in the future.

    1. Hi Namora, hope we both live this sequined Jackie. What will you put it with underneath?

  20. I agree, the flame colored sequin Jackie is the only thing that tempted me enough to order this rollout. Sized up based on reviews, hope I'm right and can wear it right away!

    1. I placed an order 3 days ago and only just now received an order confirmation. But I checked my order history the day I placed the order (to double check the order was placed since I didn’t get an email confirmation), and the item had already shipped. For some reason everything is out of order. The only email that arrived in the right order was the puppies.

    2. Today I got an email saying my order is on schedule but they're behind on shipping and I can relax while they hustle to get it here on time (something like that). Why is this so hard for them? I order online a lot from a variety of retailers and this doesn't happen with any of the others.

  22. When I went to do returns I looked at the sequin Jackie. The yellow is a pretty pale shade, and the coral is also nice, but brighter. The sequins really stand out, they are gold but also somewhat iridescent under the bright lights. I couldn't try anything on with impatient hubby there, but it did look fitted as in you would wear your larger size. I would not machine wash this even if the tag says you can. It is a delicate knit and should be gently handwashed and dried between towels.

    1. Thanks P. Appreciate your feedback as always. Will post my feedback one I receive it. Hope I’m not disappointed as well as other who have ordered it.

    2. P what would you put under the yellow sequined sweater? I’m at a loss. Something lightweight no long sleeved shirts. Thanks

    3. Lynn, weird there is a matching shell in coral and not in the yellow. But I'd go with a close fitting tshirt, and probably wear the sweater buttoned anyway to show the design. I almost always wear a t under sweaters to keep from having to wash them so often. Maybe the shell will appear later?

    4. Thanks P, you’re right, it is weird not offering anything else. There’s the regular t in the same Vintage Citrus. Will be interesting to see if they add a shell. Something like this I will wear buttoned most of the maybe I will try something sleeveless in a silk shell. I may have something in my dungeon:) I’m thinking it stands well alone too as do you. I’m really dying to see if the sweater lives up to its hype. Thanks again

  23. I received the SZ Blockprints elephant T-shirt ordered at 50% off. It's a great top. The fabric is much denser and nicer than most J Crew T's and hangs well. I sized up to M and that was a good call, S would have been narrow in the shoulders and not had the swingy shape. It is a cropped shirt not for tucking, which wouldn't work with the shape.

    1. @pbanos, just letting you know the purple Abigail Borg Earrings arrived and I wore them last night. Paired the AB wide silk cropped pants, a navy silk Blythe blouse, and block heeled sandals. The daisy on the earrings made a statement and the pants gathered so many compliments from both males and females. I guess the “wallpaper print” worked down here in Lily Country😂

    2. @Lynn, I always want to wear new things right away too! When I was a child I would beg to wear new shoes home from the store. Sounds like a perfect outfit, and it's always nice to get compliments.

    3. @pbanos, I bet the SZ Block Elephant T looks great on you. I was toying with this one too, if there are any left pending your recommendation I may decide to grab one. I like you loved trying on shoes in the “old days” loved the scent of real leather and leaving the store in my new Stride Rite and Keds. The Red Keds. I still wear Red sneakers only in the Superga brand. They hold up so well and purchased 4 pair in that particular red because it’s a true red. Fun color at least for me. What do you think of the shoes JCRew’s thrown out at us? Love it hate? Thanks

    4. @Lynn, I wear sneakers too, my husband says I look like a kid. But I think that means he likes it?

Anyway, about shoes. One of my favorite pairs of shoes is the gold metallic Academy loafer (2017?). I find it super-comfortable and love the look. I have the same loafer in the grey flannel , leopard and black.

Overall I find the shoes comparable to Clarks or Boden, definitely a step up from 9 West or Naturalizer type shoes. They are not a high-end shoe, and since no-one pays "full" price they are not priced in that category. I stick with the leather shoes as I think the sandals, espadrilles etc. are not long lasting. Some of the pumps over the years have had gorgeous patterns! I've no experience with the strappy sandals since I never wear shoes with ankle straps and rarely with open toes.
Overall I would say I like J Crew shoes, maybe not love but certainly not hate.

    1. Yes, there was black, white, light blue and light pink.

    2. I don't remember pink from last year. (I could be wrong though)

  25. And the sequin Jackie in a darker yellow mustard with rose gold sequins?

    1. The sequins were in a different pattern. They were more separate. I think it came in the yellow and rose gold, light blue with orangey sequins and a tonal beige

      Delete
    2. Or maybe more of a tan. With similar colored sequins.

      Delete
    3. Yep, more of a sunburst/medallion pattern, style number was G0582. All of those colors Suz listed. But the vine-like pattern is also a re-issue, it came in a burgundy with blue sequins and an olive with bronze sequins. The sequins in the vine pattern were more matte last year I believe.

  26. I have a job interview coming up and I purchased the going out blazer in twill with the pencil skirt. I love the collarless look of the blazer, I feel it makes me loop corporate without being too stuffy. Any thoughts or tips on styling would be greatly appreciated!

    1. Hi Jennifer, I love the Going-Out Blazer. I have two, and I find that on me (I’m short waisted, short neck, 5’4”), it looks best with a top that has either a low scoop OR high turtleneck neckline. I usually wear longer necklaces with it to add more of a vertical line. Good luck at your interview!

    2. Ah this is a really nice tip. I tried the blazer on in the store with the cowl neck dress and the cowl neck was just too fussy. I bet I will like it better with maybe a v neck shell inside. I just loved the casual feel of the fabric in the blazer but still felt put together. The 40% off discount didn't hurt either 😁 Thank you, ruffles!

  27. @Jennifer, there is a poly not silk sleeveless top I purchased in Ivory with navy trim which I wear under my blazers. K2642. Believe it or not it looks very nice and not cheap looking. It runs slightly short but I like it for what it’s work. Try a pretty print or solid color silk shirt, perhaps a pretty silk scarf. Difficult not knowing how conservative your office is but I’m self employed and always do something on the bold side with a scarf and a pretty blouse if wearing a blazer. Sorry I can’t be of more help. The other JCA’s will probably be of far better help. The best of luck to you and hope you receive a great job offer.
