This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
OT Karl Largerfeld passes away today. Poor Choupette. Monaco is grieving. Met him at several parties, eccentric but always polite. Loved or hated his clothes. Another great designer gone.
ReplyDeleteI recently watched 7 Days Out, the documentary about the Chanel Spring/Summer 2018 show. It’s well worth watching for fans of Chanel, Lagerfeld, or haute couture. Amazing that he was still working at 85!
DeleteJealous you got to meet the great Karl, Lynn. He didn't suffer fools or those he saw as fools, and who knows how he's going to see you? Maybe it's just as well I don't know what his judgement on me would have been. I remember he said in an interview that his mother had no patience with children and she once said, "You are six, but I am not. So please make an effort." So funny and so sad.
DeleteOT Wasn’t there supposed to be a roll out today? What happened ?
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought too.
Deleteoh, well...

DeleteHi Lynn,
ReplyDeleteI have some news for you - the new rollout will debut this Thursday, February 21st instead. We just got word about it this morning, so that's why you aren't seeing the new colors for the Featherweight Cashmere Cardigan Sweater (item K5262). I'm really sorry about that, but I was able to see the color (finally). Just below is an image of Dazzling Sun.
From my VPS
Maybe they didn't sell off enough of the old stuff.
DeleteIf they made the old stuff available for sale I would buy some...just sayin'
DeleteGingham...not really interested in that.
Think there will be an early access link?
DeleteInshallah 😂
DeleteSee above or below email received from my VPS this morning.
ReplyDeleteLeather peplum jacket (K3313) - Got mine from NRack today. First off, I was surprised by how light the box was, and was expecting there to be something besides a leather jacket inside! I'm a 4 in JC blazers/coats for the most part, sized up to a 6 and I think that was the right call. The leather is super soft and feels more like lambskin than a tougher leather jacket. Unfortunately, the fit was problematic for me - I'm short waisted (like, the bottom of my ribcage and the top of my hipbones are thisclose) and the part where the jacket was bisected (it didn't really seem that much like a peplum) hit me right there and made me look even more short waisted. When it was zipped up I looked like a square, and when it was open I looked...like a square. Ugh! If that seam across the middle wasn't there and the jacket was about an inch longer, it would've looked a lot better on me. Also, the band collar felt tight around my neck and I didn't even fasten it. Just a bad match for me but I could definitely see some JCA's rock this jacket.
ReplyDeleteMine is going back. I am a 6 and ordered 6 and it is just too small. It is lambskin, I believe, and a nice enough jacket. But even in and 8 if I could get one, I think the sleeves would be short. So, good try, but not a keeper.
DeleteYes the sleeves are short! Even though the the smaller sizes fit me the sleeves were way too short. I have a full house so haven't had the chance to try on outfits because I'm not sure if the fit will work or not.
DeleteAll of mine arrived and they’re all going back. Lamb skin made in India. Sleeves were much too short on both myself and PA. Odd fit and didn’t care for the details on it. So here 4,6,8,10. It simply wasn’t flattering on her and she is in her early 30’s with a killer figure.
DeleteAll right ladies, mine are going back too. The four fits fine, six is a little loose, but it's definitely a little off. In all honesty I'm a little cheap and since I'm considering this as a blazer I want the fit to be right. If it was $100 I'd probably think it was acceptable but for $200 I think I could do better. Glad it wasn't final sale.
DeleteJust in from my VPS. Jcrew employees will be reporting to work at noon tomorrow due to the inclement weather predicted.

ReplyDeleteHere’s another link
Thanks for sharing! I kind of like what I see but whether or not the quality in production is there, that is what I am wondering. That's been my main issue over the past few years, the quality and detailing was lacking given the price point. There were some WTF items for sure but when the sweaters I bought this fall are already lumpy, pilling and unwearable, I will take an Old Navy sweater that's washable, and I can beat it up and it lasts (most of the time) over a J Crew sweater.
DeleteThanks for sharing the link. The clothing pics are alright, but nothing special that would make me seek this label out. I guess it is like old J. Crew, or Gap from the 90's, but this is not my style at all, nor anything I look for at J. Crew. I must be in the minority because preppy 80's, 90's is what they keep trying to bring back as the "classic" J.Crew, but this is never what brought me to the store in the first place, it was amazing color selection and quality fabrics, and the classics with a twist approach. They are forgetting the twist part that makes an item something special or worth purchasing.
DeleteI looked through. One thing that caught my eye was something I haven't found this year, a plain white/ivory cotton sweater. I saw one. $100. It's 45% acrylic. No thanks.
DeleteI did sign up for emails.
DeleteI'm underwhelmed, too blah for me. I liked the yellow of the Northstar Cardigan, and the cute moon/star buttons, but wouldn’t trust the 60 cotton/20 viscose/15 nylon/5 cashmere blend as far as I could throw it.
DeleteI did like the opening quote: “Do people really need more clothes?” The answer, according to designer Somsack Sikhounmuong, is maybe not, but “you need the right clothes,” he says.
@MaryG, your comment is spot on. His comments were one thing but as I said he was always polite and engaging the few times I saw him. He really wasn’t a snob and had quite the sense of humor. I never viewed him as a hypocrite from afar, found him very refreshing. I recall many many years ago as I was walking my first little dog on Blvd. Moulins there, he smiled and stopped to say good morning, stooped to speak with my dog and commented how much he like my pink sneaker shoelaces, and a quilted bright turquoise Escada jacket with jeans. He was focused on the pink shoelaces, there wasn’t a soul wearing sneakers like this at the time or in general, and they were plain white sneakers with a little pink trim. Said I was “very brave” strutting around Monaco and not being all tarted up. My reply was a simple thank you, I can’t afford to anyway. His reply, “You’re richer than you think” and clothes don’t validate you. My reply, But they did for you! My husband and I were speaking about this last night and every time he and I meet someone new and question how we met he replies , he replies, “she was wearing pink shoelaces which captured my heart.” (I was wearing the same outfit) This is the absolute truth and we had a good laugh last night. Years later, after being able to afford his clothes and seeing him “K” at these parties he remembered not only my name but the pink shoelaces. Had I known he would be present, I would have worn them:)
ReplyDelete@MaryG, I wish that I had Jcrew’s Collection Blue English Tweed Lady Jacket G2603 at the time which I recently purchased on eBay for $67.00 NWT. p banos here grabbed one online at Jcrew. I would have worn this with absolute joy. I love this jacketso much and have received so many compliments it’s crazy.Recently posted how people wondered if it was a new unreleased Chanel or whatever. 😂 The company should bring this one back.
ReplyDeleteStyling the camel cocoon coat, plaid shirt, and Thermolite jeans on the blog today. Coat runs slightly large. Shirt and jeans are TTS.

New rollout and still no basic merino cardigan *sigh* the cotton Jackie just doesn't do it for me. And whoever is designing the shoes-tragic. They all look so cheap.
ReplyDeleteAmy, have you tried Uniqlo? The sweaters are always too short for me but they have a lot of basics. Gap also has a bunch of merino cardigans in spring colors. Might be worth a look. I'm holding on to my old, old J Crew merino cardigans for dear life.
Deletethanks! I will look at those stores. SO funny- I have ancient Jenna's cardigans that I can't let go of!
