This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent"
posts), where we can share our finds from other
retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew
(like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann
Taylor, and the like.)
If you
have recently encountered items that are similar to
J.Crew, maybe you might be
willing to share that information with us
in this post.
Please feel
free to share your story on almost any topic—
including experiences with certain merchandise pieces,
promotions/ offers, in-store visits,
transactions with store associates, etc.
Sharing some of my favorite finds this month on my blog.
ReplyDeleteSome really cute wool (100%) tartan plaid dresses and pants at Brooks Brothers. Very tempted......I doubt that anything that J Crew produces this holiday season will be all wool. Very sad...

ReplyDeleteI can’t seem to find a code for sale items online. Do you know what it is? I am a cardholder but all the codes I see exclude sale.
DeleteI'm sorry, it looks like that promotion is over. Friends & Family preview was Monday & Tuesday. I did not check this morning. I will delete my comment.
DeleteI should have looked during the preview but just got back from vacay and was too busy. Hopefully a % off sale comes back soon and the items I want are still in stock. Thanks for double checking for me. I thought I was crazy!
DeleteNo, I'm sorry, I usually check before posting. Actually surprised they aren't offering the F&F discount on sale. I think it used to be included in the past? Anyway, just got an email from BR telling me the ONE sale sweater I ordered that I was dying to have is no longer available. I'm accustomed to getting the "we wish we had enough" from J Crew; was surprised to get it from BR. Sad trombone!
DeleteSorry your item got cancelled. I have never had cancellation issues with BR or any of the other brands. I also swear sale items are usually included in friends and family. I kept putting in the code and it wasn’t taking money off and I was confused.
DeleteI had a chance to visit a COS store for the first time today. I was so impressed by the fabrics and overall quality, there were many beautiful pieces! A sales associate came up to me and asked if it was my first time in the store, and if I was familiar with them. I said “Oh yes, I’ve seen your online store and I really like how you have the transparent pricing.” The SA gave me a bit of a strange look and explained about their emphasis on quality and investment pieces. I then suddenly realized that I’d been describing Everlane! I’ve only ever read about both stores here on JCA, so I guess they’d kind of merged in my mind. Anyway, it was nice to see the COS store and I hope to try one or two of their pieces at some point.
ReplyDeleteoh, so interesting! I have visited the COS website for years but have always hesitated to order... don't know how their stuff fits, don't know how the quality is IRL, etc. So it's nice to hear you were impressed! I'm sure I will try them out eventually, I'm buying so much less from JC as their quality continues to tank (remember like 4-5 years ago we all thought it couldn't get any worse? :P).
DeleteI didn’t have time to try anything so I can speak to the sizing/cuts, but the quality was definitely there. I checked the tags on several items and there was definitely lots of 100% merino.
DeleteI'd looked several times at a dark wash fitted denim jacket at Ann Taylor. They got me with a 60% off sale and an in-store pickup at Short Hills. So I ended up paying $40. Usually a 6 in jackets, but I took this one in a size M. It's fitted and I wanted room for a sweater layer under. I also ordered a denim skirt in the same wash - it is 'dressy' enough for work, just above knee length and has a cute slightly flared hem. I ordered it for in-store pick up, but got a cancellation email (guess the online count for the store was not true)...CS was great and honored the same price ($16!) and waived shipping.
