J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

    2. I ordered the balloon sleeve sweater in ivory. I hope it won’t look like a hot mess on me. Lol

    5. Thanks for the updates Ina. Demylee collaboration has some cute styles and I like the wool and cashmere fabric choices. Several items were included in 40% off this morning, but now they’re excluded. I decided to wait, but did order Collection leather midi skirt in navy since my size popped back and it was included in 40% off. This skirt was on my winter buy list once it was on promo.

  3. The pic of the cashmere sweater skirt in caramel (the solo pic of this colour) shows the hem rolling up and looking uneven.
only one pic of a model tugging at the neckline of her sweater this time ...so silly. a few new t shirts I would have enjoyed this summer..alittle late .
really sad the handbags are not better this fall.

    1. tugging on the neck of a sweater to means translates as...I need to get this itchy thing off now!

  4. OT - From WWD:

Jenna Lyons has landed. The former executive creative director of J. Crew Inc., who resigned from the company in April 2017, has formed a partnership with Turner Entertainment to build an omnichannel lifestyle brand that marries content and commerce in a weekly unscripted lifestyle series and a daily curated social and direct-to-consumer platform launching in 2019.

    Interesting!

    1. Thanks for the info! So interesting! Miss Jenna! I still look at the images of fall 2010 for inspiration.

    2. Shopalot - Whaaaaat?

Me too, Barbara. Mine was Fall 2011. The colors. The styling. Not trying too hard. Not trendy. Not sloppy. Confidence and female empowerment shines through...

    3. Interesting! She hinted at something with the NYTimes last month (https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/24/fashion/alber-elbaz-frida-giannini-jenna-lyons.html) but I didn't expect a reality show, which is what I read unscripted lifestyle series to be.

For me, it's fall 2008. Saturated colors, bows, unique prints, preppy aspirational and creative styling, the vintage flower pins on coats! Sigh.

    4. eeps, I looked through the Fall 2008 catalogs last night. Sigh is right. Oh now I miss the old J Crew.

    5. I think their styling now is so boring. As crazy as Jenna's styling was, at least it was interesting. Now everything's just paired with a pair of jeans or a chambray shirt. I want someone to show me other possibilities that I never dreamed of.

    6. The new "style guide" was such a disappointment. In my opinion, the only good thing about it was the coupon insert.

  5. I was very curious about the full length Camerons that are online only. My store received return in my size and I couldn't wait to try them on, unfortunately they did not translate well for me. I have very thin calves and these seemed wider than the regular cropped Camerons from the knee down. I didn't get to really inspect them as we were getting ready to close the store for the night (perhaps they would have looked better hemmed as I'd only wear with flats to the office), but I do not feel the need to revisit. Money saved!

  6. Everyday Cashmere Featherweight Oversized Cardigans - ordered grey and black. Fit is tts and the cashmere is lightweight as expected. Have only worn black and no issues with pilling. Cashmere quality appears to be good based upon initial wear and the cashmere is really soft. Ordered during 40% off sale & before J Crew raised the prices. Black was $57 and grey was $45. Very affordable price point. Fit is relaxed which is expected based upon oversized design. Ordered my usual size medium and I wouldn’t size down. The cardigan is a good substitute for those of us who loved the long merino wool cardigans. Wish there were more than basic colors available. Hopefully J Crew will make more colors for spring and summer. This style of cardigan works great for layering.

  7. I received the floral wrap skirt and it is stunning!! I love it so much - great silk (but only liked halfway which I don’t care for), beautiful print, and great midi length. Very French which is perfect because we are planning a trip to France next summer. I’ll fit right in. Thinking of picking up the Carmel colorway too.

  8. I was disappointed in the new roll-out. Looks more Zara without the Zara flair than anything else. Quality looks mediocre. Nothing worth buying even at 40 percent off.
