This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.
If
you have recently experienced a
frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe
you might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Please
feel free to share your story on almost
any topic— including poor experiences with
purchases & orders, promotions/ offers,
in-store visits, transactions with store
associates, etc.
So I get one of those 30% codes toward the purchase of one item. I have a pair of shoes in my cart that are not a third party so I try it. It doesn't work. I read the fine print and it gives a list of assorted things it doesn't apply to (long) and finishes with: "select women's bags, blazers, everyday cashmere, shoes, dresses, jewelry, outerwear, pants, shirts and sweaters; select men's coats, pants, shoes, sweaters," (on to mens it doesn't apply to). So basically it's 30% off of anything except most things. What was the point then?

DeleteWhy is the "My Orders" page online back to showing the awful little box of the last 5 orders???
ReplyDeletethose awlful little boxes for only your last five orders is all we get on the Canadian site....make sure your on the US.
DeleteI go on the US site tom see my Canadian orders and sometimes it will start automatically taking me to the US not Canada.
a kind JCA told us (Can.) of the way to see all our old orders through the US order history page.
Hi, Suzy
DeleteHave you tried switching your browser? Sometimes you get a better experience with the website on Chrome or on Safari. It's never quite consistent with me. You can also try clearing your history. Sometimes I get the little boxes and sometimes I get the full view and there's no rhyme or reason.
The only problem with Canadians getting the full view (by changing the shipping address to US) is that then we don't get shown the Canadian price that we paid on that view, so sometimes I need to change over to the 5 little boxes, and if its past the 5 most recent orders, dig up the order number from my confirmation emails, and then search for that.
So I guess my response has now morphed into a vent. I hate the fact that the confirmation emails I get don't show the actual price I paid for the item. They show the pre-discount marked price, and then if there's a promo, that is shown as a subsequent subtraction.
still no confirmed shipping of ny labour day order, no return email from J Crew 6dys and counting .tele called yeilded my to be receiving it by the 17th...wow. wish I had not even ordered it now. can't even cancel it. keep looking back to see what I did order. can live without it...
ReplyDeletelast one....no coupons for canadians/? not even free shipping for large ## orders. trying to find my fall/winter needs with others for now
Same first vent. I ordered a single t-shirt on Sept. 7 and it's still in order placed status. They were doing so good right after the new rewards program was announced - I placed like 4 orders and received them all so quickly. No idea why a t-shirt is so hard to find. Now I assume because of the hurricane that it'll take longer to catch up (but no vent here - just hope all the warehouse employees are on high, dry land and safe).
DeleteMy t-shirt went from Order Placed yesterday afternoon to in my mailbox four hours later. No emails with status updates or shipping confirmations. I appc getting the shirt of course, but really confused about the lack of updates in my order history.

DeleteDoes anyone really think every single tweed blazer - green, brown, gray - is out of stock in just about every size (except maybe the springlike marigold)? And no, JC, I don’t think you wish you had enough. You are a merchant. And after all the years that the company has been in business, and all of the fuss about data-driven blabla and forecast-driven other blabla, you should have someone on staff whose job is to order enough merch.
ReplyDeleteI actually ordered the gold blazer and really dislike it. I think the fit is just not right on my body. Hopefully they restock the other colors so you can try them out! I agree on their lack of data analytics.
DeleteThoughts and prayers for Jcrew's Lynchburg,Va group and families as well as others that are in the path of Hurricane Florence.
ReplyDeleteYes, praying for all who are near it.
DeleteI have a $100 gift card from Christmas 2017 and nothing at JC makes me want to spend it.
ReplyDeleteThey ruined yet another good quality staple shoe. I own multiple pairs of the original Dulci kitten heel. The new version, the V-cut Dulci heels, arrived today- nowhere on the actual shoe does it say it's made in Italy despite the online description. The heel base is much wider at the top and markedly different and less elegant than its predecessor. The lining feels stiffer and squeaky. There was already a thread coming out of the stitching at the top. I don't like the updated v-cut topline but I expected that to be different and that's just a style choice- but it's a completely different shoe, and of notably poorer quality. Of note, the sticker on the box just says "Kitten Heel in Suede" and the sticker on the plastic wrap around the box says "Emory Pump". Don't call it the Dulci online and get my hopes up that it's a beloved classic. And certainly don't price this factory-quality item at $198.
ReplyDeleteI have and love the dulci kitten heel shoe of years past. I will not being getting the new one as I am not a fan of the vee cut/ I see alot of the new shoes theses days have it. I think it looks very dated. IMO
DeleteI guess that b shape is a retro look. I first started seeing it with the popular Celine shoes and now it's everywhere. I don't necessarily mind it on the flat slingbacks but when I looked st the Dulci heels after seeing this post it brought me back to my 1987 prom. Those look totally 1980s and I will either let this trend pass me by or it will take awhile before I am open to it.
DeleteI had a labor day order that shipped immediately, for a cotton-slub cardigan as a gift for my Mom. Anyway it arrived quickly and she likes it. But the order history never updated with a complete status. And now it looks like a duplicate cardigan is on the way, shipped on the 11th. Anyway, I will return the duplicate when it arrives. As of today I only see one charge on my credit card, but I will check again later. Weird - wonder how it got shipped and never recorded?
ReplyDeleteCS has said they were flooded with orders that weeekend. gee really...so was every other retailer. Its back to school for alot of people/families.
DeleteThat might explain a delay of a day or two, but not 2 weeks.
DeleteI know,I'm like a broken record with this but the Madewell website makes me want to cry. Why can't they fix it so my eyes don't hurt? The pictures are so blurry. I've sent several emails and it's always the same thing. I'm only on an iPad. I don't usually look at it on my iPhone because I prefer the larger size for shopping. It can't just be me.
ReplyDeleteI guess it shouldn't matter much because the last few Madewell jeans I tried on were terrible on me so maybe I am just better off!
The style guide is odd - there's a lot of explaining of the re-brand, showing how all the separate parts are supposed to cater to a specific type of customer but not showing how it comes together. Plus everything in it is already available on the site as far as I can tell - it didn't create any anticipation.
ReplyDeletei was a bit disappointed with the style guide, too. I was hoping to see some interesting styling ideas, but there wasn't much there.
DeleteI'm just glad the Guide is back!! I missed the brightness and flipping thru all the colors so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it gets better. I presume this will be quarterly...I see it says " Fall". Come on JC, get back in the game.
