This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Nope. Not buying anything until the returns I sent back are finally credited to my account. It's been two weeks for one already.
ReplyDeleteUgh, me too. Need to return more things.
DeleteI'm not buying from J.Crew this weekend either. M.Gemi got my money this morning.
ReplyDeleteIs this your 1st pair? And/Or how do you like the shoe/company/CS? I have been stalking the website but the one pair that I am dying for does not come in my size...MAJOR SAD FACE. In spite of all the reviews, I have been very slow in deciding to buy.

DeleteI have several of their Felize Driving Mocs and love them. The quality is great and I felt like I got my money's worth, even though they were a bit pricey. I had to make a return and had no problem at all. The return was free. I have wide feet, so their heeled styles won't work for me, but my daughter, who has narrower feet, likes the ones she has.
DeleteThis is my fourth pair. I have a pair of boots, two pairs of driving moccasins and I ordered sandals this morning. The quality and style are exceptional, which is getting hard to come by these days. Shipping is free and fast. I ordered this morning and they have already shipped. UPS. Returns are free and easy, and I haven't had a bad experience with customer service. And the shoes are made in Italy! Prices are very reasonable due to their direct-to-consumer approach (no brick and mortar stores, only fit shops). I really can't say enough good things about M.Gemi. If you decide you'd like to purchase, I can email you a referral link so you can get $50 off your first pair. (I do not work for or with M.Gemi, btw!)
DeleteVery much appreciate the replies. Thanks! The shoes look gorgeous but I had been reluctant to buy.
Deletenew promo...and nothing I want. skipping the crew again this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'll admit, I bit. There were a couple of items in natural fibers I was interested in trying, and 40% is the best promotion I've seen for them since their initial release. I ordered the Point Sur eyelet midi skirt and the top it is styled with, the linen leopard-print blazer, the embroidered linen jacket, and the cross-strap sandals in black leather and calf hair. I'm sitting on a pair of the high-heeled three-strap calf-hair sandals, debating whether or not to keep them, and think that flat sandals in that material might be more versatile with my mostly-casual wardrobe and lifestyle.
ReplyDeleteI really like the way they styled that outfit, and I have seen the blouse and skirt in person and like both separately as well! Also wholeheartedly agree about the sandals dilemma.
DeleteI have a bunch of ship to store stuff to pick up from the flash sale and am excited to check out my goodies! Also placed an order this morning for the knit wrap dress when the price was further reduced. I'd already tried it on but was waiting until it got as low as I could manage without losing it entirely.
I'll be going to pick up a couple of items from the flash sale. A white boatneck sweater for me, a New Balance long sleeve t as a gift for a friend, a t-shirt for Mom, plus a merino sweater (it will get cold again in 5 months!) and a button down for my husband. I live close enough to a store that I can do the ship to store option.
ReplyDeleteThe best item from the sale pick-up is the mens v-neck merino sweater in thistle. I do wish it was a womens sweater, what a great lavender shade! I you like to wear the boyfriend sweater look this is a candidate. The slim fit pants/sweaters/shirts are usually perfect for my husband. The price dropped yesterday from 24.99 to 19.99. I called and was given a credit for the difference.
DeleteI think the tie on the tie waist t-shirt is high, but it may be great for Mom, wait and see.
The split-hem button-sleeve crewneck sweater is definitely wide in the body and quite short. I will keep and wear with higher waist shorts and pants. For work I can layer with a sleeveless white button down. I like the black and white trim on the button sleeves and will likely leave them unbuttoned. I would call it a boat neck not a crew neck. The wide shape is due to the horizontal ribbing on the torso. It is a true white, so will work with my white denim.
The New Balance in-transit long-sleeve T-shirt in star print was a give-away at 10.99. I will make a friend very happy. I thought about getting one for myself, but I have the same shirt in three solid colors. It is the most comfortable cool weather athletic tee ever, and does not pill. It runs a bit larger than the other NB workout wear.
I am curious about the Cora sandals. I have the white in my cart and not sure I should pull the trigger. Reviews are mixed. With the 40% off and extra 20% for cardholders they're an ok price.
ReplyDeleteI'm also curious about the Madewell flat sandals as I just got my a Madewell muse bonus and not much there interests me. I do love my boardwalk laceups but sometimes you want to slip and go. I like the look of the post slide and the crossover but haven't seen either in person. Any thoughts?
My boatneck painter boatneck t-shirt in stripe E4153 is on its last legs.

Consistent with the lower reviews, It's developed holes at the seams under the arms. I've repaired them on the theory that these areas aren't really visible but the holes seem to just keep extending.
My stylebook app tells me that I've worn it 15 times which is not very good, but since I bought it on popback, the cost per wear is acceptable (but not great).
Striped shirts are very personal. Some people like the stripes wider and spaced apart, some people like them narrower. Some people like them boxy and loose, others like them a little more fitted. I like them all and have lots of different iterations :-)
Can anyone recommend a replacement longs-sleeve t-shirt for my dying painter boatneck (slightly fitted, narrower stripes)?
I don't have an answer for you but my,striped tissue turtleneck ripped under the arms immediately. Badly! I wear it under sweaters so I haven't thrown it away but it's disappointing.
DeleteI realized with about a dozen boat neck (ish) long sleeve tees (I think, all, painter) I really can only wear them,as, a layer. They're tighter than I like wearing and not really stretchy enough.
Also I've gotten a few looser striped 3/4 tees and I find them really boxy. If I try to wear them out they look loose and are an awkward length. I can only tuck them in with higher waisted skirts. Otherwise I can wear them with a fitted button down shirt underneath which is a cute look, though it can feel a little bulky.
DeleteFor $$$ and nice quality you can go to Boden. They are stripe central.
DeleteI also recently picked up a fitted striped T at Gap when they had a free shipping day + $5 off no minimum. It is on the thinner side and fitted.
I went by Brookfield for a return yesterday and nothing caught my eye except the fact that I suddenly didn’t recognize any SAs behind the register and for some reason they printed out a receipt that requires me to sign. My returns are usually all electronic and just require confirming the total price and the email address I want my receipt sent to. I haven’t been asked to sign a paper return receipt at JC... ever.
ReplyDeletePicked up my flash sale items today at Fifth Ave store. I actually never got an email saying my order was ready: I was tracking it by text and decided to go get the items once the text came that they had been delivered. They gave me the mailer bag without checking all the items were inside, and looked at me blankly when I looked at the mailer and back at them. Seriously? You want me to sign the confirmation for pickup without actually opening the package? And you think I want to walk out carrying a mailer bag rather than a shopping bag?
Aside from the uneven customer service, my four items are surprising keepers. The long sleeve 365 shirt is sooooo soft. The ribbon tie cardigan is surprisingly versatile and god quality; the green/black rugby shirt is a good fit and sturdy material. I am not athletic and has stayed away from the style because it reminded me of little boys shirts, but it is quite nice as long as I can find a way to style it girly. Otherwise with my body shape and face, someone might mistake me for a teenaged boy. The last item is the short sleeve Tippi with embroidered pineapple. I thought that would be the clear winner but it is a bit sheer and making me rethink whether I should keep.
Does anyone know any more about the “relaunch” of J Crew in September? What that means for the stores, website, merchandise?
ReplyDeleteI was in yesterday picking up a flash sale pkg. While one SA was fumbling to find it, I was chatting w the other two at the counter and asked them about it. They had
no idea what I was talking about, which it typical. I don’t understand why customer service is so great online but the in-store SAs are so woefully uninformed about everything.
Not sure if anyone’s posted this article yet: https://www.racked.com/2018/5/31/17413090/j-crew-relaunching-madewell-loyalty-program
DeleteEww. I think every one of those ideas mentioned is a step in the wrong direction. I don't want cheaper items with a faster turnaround on trends. I want items I can see being staples in my closet for years to come, made to a quality standard I'm willing to pay good money for.
DeleteAgreed that none of this seems like an improvement for the better to me. And of course they will have a more beneficial rewards program now that my spending is at an all time low.
DeleteThe Crew sent me $25.00 bucks to spend for my birthday....can't find a THING I want. It was a nice gesture, but how about making something I want to spend it on? I can't even find a piece of jewelry, scarf or anything to apply it towards. Geez.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to use my $30 Rewards on either. I don't want to go over that. But I don't see anything I want to buy. How long do Rewards last before they expire?
DeleteIf it works for factory, I just picked up the sleeveless green eyelet dress, the chambray popover, and the cobalt blue sleeveless cotton/linen pompom top. All ended up being between $21-$25 in store. I used my rewards and am pleased with all three.
DeleteThanks Laura, I'll take a look!
DeleteI stopped in to retail to return a pair of shoes (black strappy low heel sandals- cute but too small for my wife feet!). Looked around but not much that I could mix into my work wardrobe (which is what I'm needing). Lots of Floral dresses.
ReplyDeleteI then went to the outlet center to return the white Pom Pom linen top (too sheer - kept the cobalt blue one though as the fit was nice and looked well with shorts). Walked in and - same Floral dresses as in retail.
I did end up with the green eyelet sleeveless dress for about $20 and am delighted with it. Bought an "olive" tee for my daughter and a chambray popover for me as well. I think factory had better offerings today than retail did.
When leaving the retail store I did have to walk past a Michael Kors - they were featuring similar Floral dresses to the mercantile ones - hoping the trend moves by fall as it's not working for me. :/
It's everywhere!
DeletePippa Middleton wore the Mercantile version (floating floral) to the French Open, so somebody's buying it.
DeleteI do see them everywhere, and a little floral dress for summer can be adorable. Kind of trendy and classic at the same time. I bought a Ralph Lauren one in early Spring (silk-cotton blend). I think the problem is that J Crew is offering them in poorly-constructed, hot and sticky polyester and in quantities of 1,000!
DeleteHere is my two cents.
DeleteShe makes it work, but that is not Pippa Middleton's best dress silhouette.
Floral polyester IS everywhere. The biggest problem for me is that most brands cheap out on both the fabric AND construction/design.
Boho is not exactly on brand for J.Crew so I don't expect them to do it best. It's great to see them expand into this territory but one stand-out (perhaps 30s inspired) piece would have been much more interesting than a collection of the same thing everyone is doing.
Also Pippa is pregnant.
DeleteAgree Ruffles and Anon!
DeleteI’m not going this weekend but if any one goes and sees the Linen wrapped cardigan sweater,J0929, I would love a review. I didn’t have time to try on, but I saw it in store last week on a mannequin and it looked nice. The ridge khaki color is gorgeous. Jcrew needs more linen, silk or cotton sweater options this season and this one looks promising.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let everybody know that there is a rollout this week.
ReplyDeletesay what...didn't we just have one?
DeleteTee hee!! I have found nothing lately but basics so I will take it...
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteThanks, Ina. Is the rollout tomorrow (Tuesday?) June 12th? Looking forward to it!
DeleteNo it's not. Rollout is at the 19th which is next week.
DeleteSorry the rollout for huly is next week, not this one. They gave me wrong information and just told me the right one.
DeleteYes indeed and then again she is tall and thin and would look great in just about anything. I preferred the red Ralph Lauren dress.
