Sale update around 3 am was 1300+. Picked up some popbacks - a larger size of the going out blaZer with ruffle, the chino ruffle jacket, watercolor floral cami, navy/gold anorak and liberty symphony tank. Would have gotten the Olivia collection topcoat and Lady jacket with bows if they were in my size, and Drake gemmas and black NBs if the website wasn’t glitchy. My last 5 orders have all been popbacks: last few rollouts have not interested me at all. At last I know 2016 items won’t be Mercantile in hiding.
ReplyDeleteI missed out on the lady jacket with bows. Overnight sight kept crashing I was up late(past 2am).... 6 am my size 0 was gone. I been staking it for a while now.... ughh...how does it fit? TTS? If anyone knows! Thanks !
Deleteis that 3am EST ?
DeletePopbacks: Ordered the 2011 Foundry pants in the solid moss in a larger size than the camo ones since I tried them and they ran very small. I live in the camo ones so I expect they'll get a lot of use.
ReplyDeleteWaiting on the all day mules in starry suede and the uncoated Downtown field jacket in two sizes.
I'm still amazed at how great the camo pants on you and how awful they were on me! Glad you were able to get another pair.
DeleteIt's so bizarre. Even at the same size things fit so differently and flatter different shapes. It's not easy to be a woman! 😉
DeleteSpeaking of popbacks picked up:
ReplyDeleteLiberty symphony sleeveless blouse - fantastic, wore too work today.
Dover plaid blazer - sized up as you all suggested, thank you so much for your help! This piece is fabulous.
Tweed swing jacket - sleeves are too short, body is too lose. Going back.
Waiting for: Merino wool sweater blazer
Drakes horse blouse - has not shipped and ordered a week ago *bites nails*
Madewell tretorn platform sneaks.
I did try on the white laceup denim skirt lace night. It was nice and if I was at least 10 years younger, I'd have gotten it.
I have a pair of Tretorn nylite (not Madewell). I bought a half size down from my usual shoe size and still have a roomy fit.
DeleteCheri, I tried on the Madewell denim skirt in black and liked it but there's something about that silhouette that feels too young to me, and I have no problem with short shorts or mini skirts. I don't know what it is, aside from maybe it just reminds me so much of my teens, and twenties that I can't shake that feeling.
Deleteoof, thanks p! I will continue to stalk for a smaller size. They'll be here on Thursday. Hope they work - we have to wear J Crew or Madewell sneaks on the job (if wearing sneaks).
DeleteSuz, SO TRUE! I feel exactly the same! Makes absolutely no sense to me.
DRAKES horse blouse...what color did you order? I'm looking for the coral!
DeleteI ordered two eyelet funnel shirts from pop-back, but had no idea what size to get. By the time I decided to get more than one, they were mostly gone. I did order 6 Tall and an 8 Regular. I am in-between tall at 5'7" with long arms. I wear a 6 in the perfect shirt, but was afraid of the reviews that said it ran small in the shoulders since mine are very muscular. Any one have an opinion on the fit?
ReplyDeleteI felt it ran small. I'm 5'6" with a long torso so I often do tall shirts. I am usually a 2 or 4 in tops due to athletic shoulders and actually didn't like the extra length on this. It was way too long in the back. I'm a tucker so I wanted to tuck some of the fabric in but the (inexperienced) stylists told me not to do so with this top. Without tucking it just hung on me.
DeleteI should add I think the 4 just fit in the shoulders.
DeleteI’m 5’10 and I take a 6T in all jcrew shirts. I find the 8 regular too boxy and short on me. I tried on the regular 8 funnel shirt in store and it just looked silly on me like a crop top. I ordered the 6 tallin the funnel shirt (pink strip) fits me perfectly. I have thin dangly arms. I ordered the 6T in the lace too. Hopefully the fit is the same.
DeleteSo @Suz Has, the larger of your sizes just fit - so maybe the regular 8 will work for me. Well if neither fit I can x my fingers for a pop-back.
Delete@meggs, I hope yours fits! But some reviews said the eyelet was smaller. Only one way to find out, I guess
Tried some of the new arrivals. A lot of the boxes have not arrived yet,so there was not a whole lot out to try. Review of the striped rugby wrap skirt and the eyelet jackie are already up on my IG. Also tried a yellow striped maxi dress and a ruffled wrapdress (not sure if that is the right name). At madewell they had some new things too and i really like the apron bow back jumpsuit.

ReplyDeleteUnless you want to purchase items that you think are new but have been worn before, I suggest you stay away from J. Crew.
ReplyDeleteThey take back anything that customers send to them as returns, repackage them as "new" and customers have no idea that this is happening. Some items are simply disgusting, but get cleared to repackage instead of being destroyed. But, hey, if this doesn't bother you, then shop away.
I received my orders and posted some pics on IG:
ReplyDeleteWide leg pull on crop pants in 365 crepe. I loved these when they first came out but for some reason the rise is feeling too short. I can't put a belt around my true waist and wearing them lower is less flattering. Also the dye is a slightly off black which doesn't work well when you wear mostly black. I think they're all backordered now but if I really wanted I might try a size up (I took the smaller of my two sizes). These are probably going back. Womp womp.
Everyday mules in starry suede. Took the smaller of my two sizes and love them. The stars are subtle as is the pink. I don't wear a lot of heels in the summer so this would be as high as I'd go for dinner, etc and I like that it's not over the top. Very wearable.
Madewell boardwalk crossover in English Saddle. I was tempted to get the black but felt the color might look too heavy. The saddle matches my favorite belt perfectly. They're better with pants but so comfortable I might just wear them with everything. These work much better on my feet than the Cora in white. (So most likely the Cora will go back)
Uncoated Downtown field jacket in Tuscan olive. I tried the small and tall small. The last Downtown field jacket I bought I got the Tall XS and I feel, the shoulders are a little tight. The regular small seems to work better. As someone who mostly wears black and denim, I love an olive jacket and I love the gold snaps. I don't need this but... no pics yet for this one.
anything less than blackest black = do not want
DeleteI'm glad the shoes are a win!
I picked up my order from the last flash sale + 20%. My surprise favorite is the utility pocket shirt denim. I usually wear a 6 and I ordered small. I might have gone xsmall, but I like the loose fit on this shirt over skinny jeans. I also ordered a tall small that has not arrived yet, thinking I would like the extra length untucked over skinny white jeans for casual Friday at work. The dark color is great with white, and the fabric seems more of a linen than cotton.
ReplyDeleteMy other success is the chambray mandarin collar bodysuit. I ordered my usual 6 and love the fit. It may be a wee bit larger than my regular perfect shirt. Too bad the navy pantie shows through white pants. It would be neat if these body suits came with a light or dark beige/brown pantie to work with your skin tone. But it works a lot of other pants and skirts. Very tidy look.
The tie front linen shirt with blue/white stripes is going back. I made me look even bigger in the shoulders, and the low waist tie hid my waistline. I think this would work great for someone with a straighter shape or wanted to hide the middle a bit.
And finally I am on the fence with the garment dyed crew neck sweatshirt in periwinkle. I ordered medium due to reviews saying it ran small, and it is loose but not too loose for a sweatshirt. I will try it again tomorrow and get a second opinion.
Hubs said the sweatshirt did nothing for me, so it goes back too. Good thing this was not a final sale sale.
DeleteWrap skirt in Japanese cupro (J0725) - surprisingly I liked this a lot. The "deepest navy" color passes for black and the fabric has the slightest sheen that makes it look very elegant. Length is great, hits just above the knee for someone 5'6". I wear it with a tucked-in t-shirt. The only con is that it wrinkles pretty bad if folded, but a spritz of water fixes it.
ReplyDeleteItem J1024 - Tall wide-leg cropped pant in cotton-poplin
ReplyDeleteI usually wear a tall 6 but the tall 4 fits perfectly. It might have something to do with the elastic waist and lack of zipper. The frosty olive is a dark olive green which surprised me because that's not what the color looks like on my computer screen, but it's fine. I'm curious about what the material will look like by the end of the day. The cotton poplin seems like it will wrinkle quite a bit.
I think cheritheberry commented how much she likes those as well. My store only had the tan which I dislike with my skin tone.
DeleteYep. I am loving the heck out of these pants! Wore to work once and while they did wrinkle, they weren't awful. Good enough that I hung them and will just touch up with the iron before wearing again. It felt like wearing pajamas all day.
