This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
The Early Access link now seems to be populated with the last rollout instead of new items...I'm confused.
ReplyDeleteI just said the same thing below. Need more espresso obviously!
DeleteI "think" there might be some new arrivals on the site but honestly I can't tell one ruffled sweatshirt or word tee from the other anymore so it just looks like more of the same. I also noticed for the second time the other day that J Crew posted a picture of an item on its IG account that was no longer available, isn't IG for selling what you have? No one seems to have a handle on the departments for one central message.
ReplyDeleteIt is confusing.
DeleteEarlier they posted 147 new arrivals. At 6:55 a.m. received an email from JCRew which states 80+ new arrivals. I don’t see much except for what I posted earlier. Perhaps they list 80+ plus reflecting on the various colors of their new shoes? 😂
Delete.
Gosh, browsing at their site doesn’t feel like the J.Crew I knew from 10-13 years ago. The models are different. The styling of the clothes, different. Jenna’s influence on the brand. That distinction is gone. It starting to look like Gap now 😞. I know...New Year, new beginnings. But hard to shake that feeling off. Im not feeling this new direction it’s going...
ReplyDeleteI still wonder if it really was Jenna, or someone else. They seem to have lost their way while she was still there. I wonder if there was some unsung talent who left earlier.
DeleteI finally broke down and ordered the dream cotton pajama set as well as the bottoms only. I much prefer the bottoms in the set (they are cut a wee bit wider, thicker, and longer). I love them and glad I’m replacing all my loungewear as everything is way too big after losing a bunch of weight last year. I won’t pay full price for the set but a sale price makes it worth it. Also received the Love first tee in pink and the rose tee and I love both.
ReplyDeleteLiztriden I am lusting after the dreamy pajama set. Enjoy!
DeleteWhen I check new arrivals I don't see what I saw with early access. And most of what I see has been around awhile. So confusing.
ReplyDeleteSame here but focus appears to be on the new Evie shoe line and jeans. I ordered a pair of the ballet flats in red patent leather yesterday and they are being overnight to me.. I noticed that there is no country of origin listed for them nor listed as import. Being an old old Cece wearer which I previously posted, I’m not too optimistic as the sole on this shoe looks flimsy. Will repost this afternoon after trying on.
DeleteOops typo overnighted
DeleteAppears to have some new sneakers. Some are somewhat pricey and in my humble opinion aren’t standouts. A trendy sneaker is Comme des Garçons which I already have, but I am a big Superga wearer (classic style) have them in about 6 colors. They hold up very well, very comfortable and don’t make your feet apppear like you’re wearing a pair of tires! Jcrew used to sell these some years ago.
DeleteYeah, I'm seeing the same thing - all old items.
DeleteI saw that. $248 sneakers. Meanwhile. When I click on the. Email I just got it goes no where. But maybe it's my service here. Not sure
DeleteCorrection. It goes to shoes but the envies are not there.
DeleteI just tweeted their help account. They are looking into why the website isn't showing any new arrivals. Glad I'm working super hard at work right now...:)
DeleteHey Suz, If you click on the Valentine’s Day shop, you will see the Evies in red and green!, a new merino sweater, and some new demi-fine jewelry pieces.
DeleteThe complete range of Evies is available through the link Shop The Evie Ballet Flat.
But the rest of the new arrivals are nowhere to be found. J.Crew has been having this uodate issue for a while now. Sigh.
@Lynn, would love to hear your thoughts about the Evies once you have tried them on!
Yep, nothing new to see, but that’s fine with me. I’ve had such good luck with the super sale that I don’t need anything. BTW, Comenity shows rewards have been mailed. Smallest rewards I’ve seen in a while. I’m still shopping, but spending is definitely down.
DeleteValentines day shop....I do not see that on the Canadian Page///????
DeleteJCrew lately:
ReplyDeleteZzzzzzz
:/
Web site issues for sure...
Deletewhat a mess today... free shipping for Canadians and no new arrivals up. ZZZZ for sure!
DeleteIt is also worth noting along with all the other glitches that if you search the name of a sale item you are looking for it may be in stock even though you don't see it in the sale section. I was able to get the plaid belted puffer today in the size I needed( j crew sent me the wrong size) along with two sweaters that way. Isn't the point of the website to sell clothes? If we can't find the items both new and sale it defeats the purpose.
ReplyDeleteYes, same! Apparently it took me 20 minutes to craft my email below ;). I'm so glad you were able to get your coat!!!
DeleteThanks Cheri! I knew my stalking would pay off!! I also wish I knew the official names of some items but seriously need nothing else. I have already overspent this month. I think it will be easy to cut back though. Nothing really on my wishlist and I won't spend unless I get a great deal. It seems the sale section did update to over 1800 items but it is still hit or miss. The sweaters go from showing 130 to 50 when I click on it. So weird.
DeleteI need nothing else and have passed up items I've had in and out of my cart all season long because it really is beyond excessive at this point. Not to mention I cannot afford to buy any more! Nor keep all I've bought
DeleteIt's official. The shopping stop (I refuse to say ban) has started.
I will join you in the shopping stop. I did really well in 2017 in regards to what I called mindful purchasing. I track my spending every year and it was down considerably. If I had something similar or needed to buy additional items in order to make an outfit or it was super trendy I just said no. January and July are historically the months I spend the most due to winter and summer clearance sales so I know I can get back on track.
DeleteI have never in my life done anything like this, so any tips you have like those mentioned above will be greatly appreciated! I know I have to limit ALL spending or I can easily shift to non-clothing purchases. My financial situation has changed (divorce) and there will be a hiatus on whimsical shopping until further notice. Just knowing you have done feels good!
DeleteIt was really hard to change my mindset at first but once I got into a routine it became much easier. I stopped checking the website every morning before work and at night. It really gave me a lot more free time that was better spent. In December my only purchases were two pairs of pants and I returned both. Another part of my process is I have to absolute love the piece and not settle. This gets hard when things are super cheap! The pants I returned were the silk Paisley ones and plaid Cameron pants. The Paisley ones were a bit short and too high waisted. The Cameron pant was not the colors I expected and the scale of the plaid was off. They both fit but I knew I could find better. It definitely isn't easy but it feels good when you get on the right track.
DeleteGood luck Cheri! I did one last year for almost 4 months and, though this sounds kind of dumb, I felt free from the hamster wheel of checking the website, feeling like I NEEDED X or Y, thinking this was the BEST time to buy it, etc. Not checking the website is pretty key. As is unsubscribing from all the daily emails. I realized that everything I thought I wanted was still there months later and by then I didn't even want it anymore. I was able to spend that time that it "consumed" my thoughts on other things and honestly felt so much happier. I'll jump on the bandwagon and start one soon, too! -lep33shops
DeleteJess and Lauren, these are great tips! I did think to unsubscribe from emails and I know the habit part will be hard to great. Hey, I've quit smoking and Facebook - I can do this. When I deleted Facebook it felt very freeing. I don't even have anywhere TO GO where I would need all these clothes! I can't wait.
Delete@cheritheberry I sympathize. A couple tips: Yes, not checking the website is wonderful advice. Let your closet, not a bargain, tell you what you need.
DeleteAsk yourself, if it cost 3x as much, would you still buy it? If not, you're getting it because it's cheap and you don't truly need it.
Watch a no shopping video on YouTube if you are feeling weak. They can be good inspiration. I like The Mustards/Jenny Mustard's calming videos about cutting back/minimalism. Just don't watch too many and let that steal your extra time!
Be clear about why you want more free time and how exactly you want to spend it- and do it! If you know you want to spend time on art, or reading, getting outdoors, or just having all your clothing organized and fit you perfectly, do those things and you won't spend so much time shopping.
One thing that personally keeps me in check is thinking about others. There are so many people (and animals) who need our help that it feels frivolous to over shop. I'm all for nice things, but in moderation :)
Good wishes!
Sarah, thank you for taking the time to post! Almost all my shopping is done in down time at work. I'll have to find another online time killer...but in all seriousness I appreciate the time you took to post. I have never heard of the Mustards and had no idea there were youtube videos devoted to this! My end goals are saving money, and getting rid of excess / extraneous items in all areas of my house. Free time to help others is a bonus.
DeleteI bought a TON at 50% off this morning. Stuff that does not come up when browsing via the sale section. You can find other hidden(?) things by typing in the style name.
ReplyDeleteI purchased all the items I was stalking:
leopard top coat
sequin flats with stars
convertible sweater cape in beige
Italian cashmere side slit tunic in orange
tall quilted downtown field jacket in black
boys puffer jacket (for next year) in navy
I wish I knew the names of some of the necklaces I missed out on. Hope this helps someone!
If you search for super generic terms like "jewelry" and "jacket," a lot of that sneaky hidden stuff comes up! No need to remember product names. I hope you find more goodies!
Delete@Cheritheberry wow I did the same thing and couldn’t believe what showed up. Great “old” JCRew pieces too and fabulous steals and deals. Now that we’re moving back to Monte Carlo will have to hit Nordstrom Rack website Tumi luggage is on sale. 😂
DeleteNo way Monica, that was several hundred dollars that I was not prepared to spend! However, I know it won't all be kept (sad but true)...and I really do not foresee buying this much from The Crew in the future (sad but true) and want to get what I can while there is stuff I want to get from my favorite store. sob sob sob
DeleteOh my, what a treasure hunt! I grabbed several old popbacks using this method. All were final sale, so probably should have been more prudent, but a wave of FOMO/fate hit me and I pulled the trigger. Hopefully those Liberty Elliot heels ship!
DeleteThe ribbed turtleneck in Italian cashmere popped back in my size in heather olive, $80 after promo and the 15% discount card I'd been hoarding. It got good reviews, many along the lines of "the old J Crew is back". If only!
Deletecobalt, I grabbed this sweater in black over the weekend, I hope it works out for you.
DeleteI am also in the camp of needing a shopping break. After needing all new clothes last year, I had an excuse but I should remember that as I cleaned out what didn't fit me, I had sooo many items I'd only worn once. The key is most definitely not checking the website habitually!
+1 I keep feeling like I’ve got everything I need, and then somehow buy a bunch more stuff because the deals are good. This morning was a good example, I wasn’t interested in anything, but then when the “secret” popbacks we’re revealed I went for it. The thing is I know I’ll have to quit JCA for this to work, and I’ll miss checking in here and hearing about everyone’s shopping adventures.
DeleteI will miss it too! I already quit Facebook. This site is this is my nice social break from the day, and night! What will we do?!?
DeleteI bought a few things on sale at 50% off the sale price. The Harlow Sweater was very nice but the rest of the items are of the same quality of anything I would buy at H & M. If J Crew's quality is going to be at this level then the prices need to reflect the quality. Sadly (but good for my wallet) I am purchasing less and less. I would shop Gap, Old Navy, Zara and H & M if I wanted this level of quality. Very very sad.
ReplyDeleteArticle about Jcrew closing stores in the Atlanta area. Closures are so heartbreaking for the associates and loyal shoppers. Wishing everyone the best.

JCRew Corporate headquarters may be departing in NYC location as owner is trying to buy out tenants and make room for larger tenant Facebook who occupies the building. There go the old 770 Jeans
ReplyDeleteWow

DeleteI think I read that Madewell moved its offices to Long Island City--this may be a favor to JC as they could do likewise and get much cheaper rent.
DeleteLadies, since I was in middle school back in 1997, I had a love affair with J. Crew. Unfortunately, the word tense is correct. I felt that the remaining roll-outs of 2017 would be the last of Jenna's influence, so I shopped as much as I could. After viewing today's roll-out, I realize the direction of J. Crew and myself are in different directions. This really breaks my heart, as I would like for them to be around for another 30 years, but knowing that they are struggling financially to turn a profit I don't see how they will when they are loosing their base. This roll-out makes them look more of the same as everyone else, but J. Crew's price will struggle to compete with H&M and etc. I loved J. Crew for the color options, classic styles, and natural fiber clothing. I will never pay $49.50 for a polyester tank top. See: H6857. Yes, I think this top is cute, but I am sure I can find something similar at another store for less than $25. I hate to say it, but 2017 will be the year I ended my 20 year relationship with J. Crew. Just for context, I am under 35, so I consider myself a part of their core demographics. Please someone from corporate read this, and start a focus group with your base. We love you, please don't leave us.
ReplyDeleteSo eloquently put and I am with you as are many others on this website. Please send this to the CEO as I truly believe you have spoken in a manner that he or someone else up there might take notice for a change. If no response how about a change.org petition. Perhaps then, the CEO would wake up seeing this and realize he better start steering this ship in a different direction.
DeleteSigh... hear hear!
DeleteThe $49 tank top is $79 CAD, what a joke! I wouldn’t give it a second glance in-store, completely unremarkable.
DeleteCompletely agree. Rollout was really sad, it looks like they are just trying to copy Madewell--overly casual, too denim-focused, all muted colors. Madewell already has its own customers, and now people who liked JC's own unique style have no place to go. Thanks to the tip of searching for hidden items I found a few popbacks from last year to buy today, (featherweight cashmere cardis in beautiful saturated colors), but I don't expect to see things like that around anymore. :(
Deletei give up. i keep looking thinking i'm missing something but... (sigh)
ReplyDeletei'm saving my money for some (real) gold hoop earrings and a pair of chelsea boots. there's nothing i want from jcrew right now.
Oh no not another email just came in. Now Live!!!
ReplyDeleteSame stuff as I posted earlier this morning with the 80+ new arrivals. Cashmere waffle sweater, strip long cardigan the shoes and jeans. Disappointed
ReplyDeleteMy store in Madison, WI is closing :-( That means the closest will be in the Milwaukee area, which is a little over an hour away.
ReplyDeleteThe location only ever sold women's stuff, which I always found a bit odd considering there are plenty of men and children in this region ;-)
That will dramatically change my purchasing habits, though, since I'm far less likely to take a risk on something if I can't just return it to my local store. I'm not a fan of mailing in returns.
Another Puppy thank you email. No promo with it either
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested in buying item G8675 collection silk polka dot trench dress, Net-a-porter has the same dress for $20 less and carries a fuller size range from 2 to 10.
ReplyDeleteThe dress will be beautiful for spring.
Jcrew at $89 (after promo) vs. Net-a-porter at $69.

ReplyDeleteThey are sort of doing some of this. They just renovated the Flatiron NYC store which has sections of the store with signs: "Denim Bar", "Pant Shop" "Cozy shop" but the problem is they are just labeling the current undesirable merch and the desirable, pretty, unique styles we used to find at J.Crew are no longer being produced.
DeleteCompletely agree about not turning JC into Madewell!
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI disagree with that concept. Might as well be garanimals. The JCrew we all loved allowed "denim" to mix with "business casual" and "ready to party." We are smart enough as consumers that we don't need our tags to tell us what goes with what.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI honestly did not care for the renovation. To me it just highlighted blah stuff and was a waste of money when they should be focusing on product/design. The store actually looked nicer before the renovation.
DeleteIt’s overdue, but so happy to see J. Crew starting to offer some additional sizes. A few key work pieces show online up to size 20, I’ve seen a few XXLs sprinkled in, and denim is now finally going above 32. Now if only they would carry these sizes in store!
ReplyDeleteNo discount/promo on the new arrivals?
ReplyDeleteWhatever the afternoon update was, I missed it COMPLETELY! The last I looked, the women's sale was at 600 (give or take a few)
ReplyDeleteLast I checked there were 1800!
DeleteI know!! That's what I missed...the midmorning/midday update. Real sad, sad face but happy wallet
DeleteI really can't stand people sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI've had a few stylists who have helped me a few times over the past year. Sometimes when I have an issue I might email one or both because their hours are so sporadic.
Last week when there were website issues and my order crashed, I reached out and one stylist responded. She helped me locate one item and said she'd help me find the others. Well, I found them by myself and reached out to her. The first time she placed the order and waived shipping. Minute later I found the other item and when I messaged her, got her out of office email, so I placed the order and figured I'd ask to get shipping waived. This was Thursday I believe, and yes, I placed several orders separately because as I was purchasing items kept disappearing from my cart. She was due back in the office today and meanwhile another stylist helped me with other issues, but this is her response, and my response follows.
Did she think I really wanted to place three orders instead of one? Am I trying to get over on them by asking for free shipping when I spent way more than $150 in one day? Is this a normal response to a "VIP" customer? Guess what, I won't be asking her for help ever again. I don't think anything was full price anyway, otherwise maybe I'd order something to try and just return it. Sigh.

Hi Suz,
I just returned to the office this morning and I noticed you had already ordered the pants on January 11th (#). Looks like you placed three orders that day. Normally, we’ll waive economy shipping if your order total is over $150 or the order contains at least one full price item. We’ll also waive s/h on one additional order if placed within the same day. This does not apply for consecutive orders within the same day with a cumulative total of $150. I’ll waive the shipping this time, but cannot guarantee it can be done again using this scenario. You may expect a $5.16 credit to post to your J.Crew account within 3-5 business days.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
My response:
Dear S
I'd say the fact that I had to place three orders in one day is more due to website glitches, which have been a constant source of frustration.
Thanks for your help, this time.
Sorry for being snarky. I'm always nice when I shop, not demanding to associates, friendly, etc. I wasn't asking for special treatment. I really feel like her response was scolding me.
DeleteThat is not too much to ask ($5.16?!?) when you are doing all the work of finding what you want due to their website issues. Do not fret about being snarky. Maybe the SA was new or having a bad day. I believe you are justified in your feeling!
DeleteDef not new. She's helped me before and there's usually been a little passive aggressive attitude mixed in with the helpfulness. I know not to email her again. Simple.
DeleteI have been told many times they can't waive shipping for me because they have done it recently. seems like PA's, waiving shipping etc ... is something they can't do regularly...even if you are a good customer.
DeleteI pay $12 shipping (for Canada....it comes by dog sled in about 2weeks time.). CS is sometimes pretty nice...but it is at their discrection. DARN.
'
But she knew I was looking and she offered to help me but then left. It wasn’t just a random request.
DeleteBack to reviews:
ReplyDeleteWintress Puffer, Tall small. Cozy. Lower pockets are in a weird spot. Love the thumb hole. Sizing: sleeves are the right length, body is a touch long, but regular length sleeves probably would have been too short. I could have gone with Tall XS but most likely I'd wear this with a vest under it so sizing up makes sense. (Also works if it's really cold and I want to wear a blazer somewhere).
Wide leg pleated pant in matte crepe. Sadly these don't work on me. I will try them again but the hips seem too wide and they don't flow the way I hoped, instead they kind of stick out in a not flattering way. Bummer. Sizing down MAY help but I suppose I'll never know, since they're currently sold out.
@Namora shoes arrived here's my humble opinion. First, the color I ordered in Providence Red Patent Leather is a true Red! Like Fire Engine Red . Perfect!! Finally the company put a great red out there. The shoe itself has much more of a rounded toe than Cece, but it's not childish looking. No toe flesh. It's doable if you like this style. I don't. It simply doesn't look refined on my feet. I stress my feet. The interior part of the sole has enough cushion to it, the exterior sole is thin, not bad and doesn't feel like plywood, is minimally supportive and cut a little on the wider side. It has an elastic which can be pulled to tighten the shoe however, the toe box is cut very low on this shoe and the length is short on my feet.To be more precise as my foot moves forward the big toe is at the very end of the shoe. I am not about to size up because it won't work for me. For reference I am a size 10 medium width with a very narrow heel. The shape and condition of my feet are excellent and I have no callouses, bunions, crooked toes. If I had more flesh on my feet the width part might have worked but I still would have had the toe box issue being so low. I even put something in the ball area of shoes to keep my foot from going forward and it still didn't work for me. Unfortunately, these are going back. I am very disappointed because I would have ordered the color Jade. Will add Cece size 10 was always a perfect fit for me, a little more tapered and had much better support than the Evie. I can't understand why Jcrew killed Cece there's no comparison. Hope this is of some help.
ReplyDeleteI will def have to try them! I already have two other red flats but maybe I'll try the jade for a pop. I don't own anything else that color though, but I'd wear with jeans and a white button down.
Delete@ Lynn, many thanks for your detailed review! You have saved me from a return. The combo of a more rounded toe than Ceces and shorter toe box is not my style either, as I prefer a more elongated almond shape like my Vara flats or the Ceces I have forced out of retirement after many a visit to my dear cobbler.
DeleteYou’re most welcome Namora. Again it’s too bad because they are such beautiful colors. If you ever need polish for your Ceces I have a place that has every single color under the sun and I have been able to match my shoes. Let me know if you are interested. All the best
DeleteI miss the Ceces so much. I cannot exaggerate how actually sad and angry it makes me that they aren't available in the quaility and rainbow quantity they were before. Honestly, I feel like looking back that was a sentinel event in J. Crew not listening to their customer base.
DeleteEven the new chintzy-looking jewelry styles look like Madewell knockoffs.
ReplyDeleteTotally... Can’t bear to watch this cannibalization.
DeleteThe jewelry is indeed awful.
DeleteI'm taking the advice of previous posters and drafting an email to j crew corporate. Maybe if enough of us express these concerns they will listen...the lack of substance really concerns and surprises me. They've never been this "-empty" in the 20 plus years I've been a loyal shopper!
ReplyDeleteIf you or someone else drafts a letter I would be willing to co sign and maybe others here as well.
DeleteGreat idea! Maybe we can organize an email we can all copy and paste and send. That would have a big impact I would think. My got says it’s not looking good after this rollout. They are hanging by a thread.
DeleteI’m echoing others on here - I did not see a single it I must have.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested - the silk tunic is thin, see through, and big. I sized down and it still fits a little awkwardly. There’s also a strange seam running horizontally across the front. I got it on sale and used a gift card, so I ultimately just paid a few dollars for it. I’m not sure if I’ll keep it or not.
Thank you for posting I was considering. It after your post I’m skipping this too. Did you by chance see the new striped sweater in cotton and linen? Looks interesting but I’m at the point where I’m striped out.
DeleteI haven’t seen this one! Is it the cardigan, item H7141? My purchase was an online order.
DeleteI’m definitely sitting this month out. I’m hoping there is something in the next roll out to spend my other gift card and rewards on.
Things like: H9205
ReplyDeleteNo picture of someone wearing the earings for reference. And no measurement in the decription.
I just can't anymore.
If they want to save money on models they could still superimpose the earrings on a mannequin head for reference. Yeah, not going to help sales.

ReplyDeleteJust came back from the JC store in Bridgewater, NJ. It will remain open but Edison will close.
ReplyDeleteYou mean the Menlo mall?! Seriously?!
DeleteYes.
DeleteWell that sucks. :/
DeleteI haven't been there in years but that is sad. *pours some out to Menlo*
DeleteIt's a sad commentary on how big of a miss those cold shoulder/OTS tops were when the striped OTS top (H0853) is still available in a full size run in regular, petite and tall at 19.99-50%. They can't even give it away.
ReplyDeleteVery true.
DeleteYou have to wonder how that stuff makes it to production. Is there a focus group out there that loved it? Do they poll employees? How many people/levels approve such a design for mass production? Maybe I’m naive to think that J.Crew does all their own designs, but even if they’re picking it from a sample book/room, how many people have to agree on it?
DeleteYes it is. Thank you for replying. I think I will pass on it and like you will wait and see what the next rollout brings. Spring line release is supposedly early Feb.
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew is officially not trying to be cool anymore — and it's a brilliant move. This is the headline on Business Insider recently. Oh great, men's shirts to be worn outside such as Untuckit.
ReplyDeleteJust what we female shoppers need.(sarcasm) Jcrew, bring out the timeless classic well made stuff. Ceces!!! Whales on Tippi sweaters in linen as an example. I have two of these I love so much and they still look like new after a few years. Quality cashmere which you were famous for and their brilliant colors. When I wear the Tippi people of all ages stop and comment what a pretty sweater this is and ask "May I ask where you purchased this? While I'm at it how about Donald Robertson and Hugo Guinness tees? They were truly whimsical, fun and the colors were great. Not these Chamonix tween kiddy sweaters, Peace on Earth in French and other name dropping tees of France and Italy. So easy to spot a tourist in France or Italy and frankly they look ridiculous. Classic styles will always be "in" just look at Jcrew from years past and just look how the Italians and French dress. Classic. Jcrew did set a trend around the world, well made clothing, brilliant colors, good whimsical designs, and quality made shoes to die for. Bring it back! Sorry for the rant JCA's and apologies if I offended anyone with the tee shirt story.
Ladies there have been quite a few nice items earlier this morning. Snagged a Collection Cashmere open cardigan for $36.44. There is another Ratti PJ floral print blouse which I purchased the other day and price was $30.00. This is the one in Poly and although I’m not fond of poly I love the print and wore it out last night many compliments. Quality is very good. Don’t let the fact that it’s made of poly get in the way. Even the high end designers use it in many of their blouses and at this price couldn’t refuse. I didn’t purchase the pants perhaps I should. They’d be nice for lounging around at this price. :)
ReplyDelete@Lynn. I'm glad you like it! The print is amazing. I really just can't with the poly- with me it retains/encourages odor. Nice to hear you got compliments- it looks special.
DeleteSara J I live in South Florida where the humidity levels are sky high and didn’t have a problem. By the way I posted on the Vent Thread that I washed this in a Laundress Product and it came out beautifully. Sorry to hear it won’t work for you. I wash all my cashmere with their cashmere and wool wash again the finished product is wonderful. JCRew use to sell this product and no longer carry it.i order all of the products and always get free shipping and a 25% off code to use. Great stuff. the Laundress.com
DeleteLynn, J.Crew turned me on to The Laundress. I totally love their products, too! Happy to hear the shirt washed up well!
DeleteI'm striking out, most of what I ordered is going back.
ReplyDeleteAfter liking some of the NB leggings (with the side pockets on the hip) I ordered a bunch more but the fabric isn't as thick and there's less seaming so I feel too exposed (like I'm wearing opaque tights but thicker. For typical leggings they're perfectly fine).
From Madewell I tried the slim straight jeans in yeats wash (black). I ordered tall and taller sizes. The cut reminds me of old matchsticks. Fitted on top and through the legs but not as tight around the lower leg as a toothpick. I thought they were going to be a straighter leg and looser on top, similar to the cruiser straight.
And after much deliberation the wide leg pleated pant in matte crepe is going back. After all that...sigh.
Oh, I did post a few pics on IG including one of the drapey wrap front top, currently on super sale. It's adorable.

Sorry the leggings were a bust. Thank you for the denim review. That is helpful, I'm always wanting different black jeans and a nice straight (but fitted) would be next on my list. I liked the wide leg pant on your insta but certainly understand...sometimes I just want it easy. Thanks for sharing!
DeleteCheritheberry. I did keep about 8 leggings...so it's ok. The ones I kept are the $80 NB ones. (Half off now). I kept them in two sizes, XS AND S, I THINK I got two of each. And I kept the ankle tie ones made by JCrew.
DeleteI posted more denim reviews in looking to LOVE section today.
I gratefully returned:
ReplyDeletePlaid belted puffer jacket - I had no idea this was a peplum. Well, it was peplum on me. As with the funnel neck blouse, I looked like a paper doll. Just hung on me.
Peplum sleeve nveck sweater size small - sleeves too short, body was meh. Took off quickly.
Tall perfect shirt with bows in both colors - 2T was too small in the boobies and squished them down. The 2T DID fit perfectly in the tartan I bought earlier in the season? I think that was a fluke and I am not meant for button downs from J Crew.
Tall stretch perfect shirt - 2T was too long in the torso and also the chest fit was again less than ideal.
Kept:
cozy trouser socks in fair isle - ordered 2 more pairs today in the same colorway (red) as that was the only option available and I liked these a lot. I actually could use socks for boots so these were a no brainer.
Tall tiered ruffle top with scalloped lace trim - got this in a 4T and I decided to keep it although it is a little off. There is some tightness in the bust and underarm area. A 4 is the largest size I have ever taken in my life so this must run small. I adore ivory blouses and needed something more readily accessible than the 2 ivory silk Club Monaco blouses I currently own and baby. This was a keep for the price of $21.24. It is very pretty and looks better than the fits feels.
Perfect winter boot in glazed pecan - took my usual size. My sorels aren't comfortable for long periods of time but my boyfriend loves them so I was looking for an alternative for ME. I haven't worn these yet but aesthetically they are a win and I quite like that there is no brand label on them. I'm really sick of Sorels, etc. (sorry, but I am! we are oversaturated here in NJ)
Pearl rosebud necklace - quality seems very nice to me. A substantial piece and right up my alley; I have been wanting more costume jewelry for work.
Maddie pant in chino - army green size 0. I have on pair of winter white wool maddies for work. Took my same size and fit is same. I hope they do not shrink because they are bordering too tight. Kept these for $11.49 and put a pair of Gap olive chinos in the donate pile to make it even.
I felt the same way about the funnelneck top, as much as I love it.
ReplyDeleteDidn't notice the maddie chinos but that sounds like a score.
After liking the camo foundry pants so much, I decided to get the plain green ones as well today. The sizing on them is different, at least for me, and it may depend on your body shape, judging by the reviews. 00 was a comfortable, perfect fit in the camo version for me, but the 00 green ones were near-impossible to button up, and there was no way the fabric would stretch enough over time to be comfortable. I sized up to a 0, which was bigger than the camo 00, but definitely the right size for the plain green ones on me.
ReplyDeleteThat's funny, I tried them last week in the 0 and since I tried the camo ones a few months ago I wasn't quite sure if it was me or if they were just a little more fitted. I do think they will give with wear but it will take time.
DeleteI talked to some of the associates about it, and it seemed like they also noticed that the plain green ones fit tighter. And looking at the photographs of both pants lying flat on the website, it does look like the plain ones taper in at the waist while the camo ones don't, so that could explain it, perhaps.
