This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Might order the leopard two strap flats with 30%..sucks most of their shoes are import. 🙁
ReplyDeleteI was so happy to see these shoes again. I bought the wrong size last year and then they sold out. The 30% off was what I needed to order them in a bigger size. I can't wait to receive them. :)
DeleteWe put the new styleguide on display in our store. Pic of the front on my IG
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this great news, Ina. Very excited to see the new Style Guide! Happy Friday!
DeleteThanks Ina!
DeleteFYI for cdn jcas I was told cdn stores won't get any style guide at all anymore. I'm sad about that was hoping for sept.
DeleteThanks Ina. I hope I a get a copy so I can see the inside. Do you know if they are still mailing them to customers?
DeleteJust called the store to check that they had the Style Guide out before I walked over there. Was told they don't have it yet; maybe next week. Boo!
Delete@maryeb i will try to find out
DeleteThanks Ina. No problem if you can't.
DeleteAnother question, does the appearance of the Sept. Style Guide mean there is another roll-out in August?
Talbot's fall catalog came in the mail today. It's got a Paris theme and the cover was shot there. I can't say they have Crew's gift with color and styling always (the Paris icon tee is a miss for me) but there were some nice jackets, shoes and sweaters.
DeleteHi Mary G - thanks for mentioning this. I still get Talbot's catalogs even though I haven't purchased from them in years. Some of their lookbooks remind me of old school 'Crew - you can see them here.
DeleteSilver lining, thank you for posting, I may need those penguin pants, that's pretty cute with the red plaid shirt.
DeleteI posted IG pics @peterst1 of September Style Guide.
Delete@Mygoddy, thank you so much for taking the time! That was very generous and thoughtful! :)
DeleteYay Mygoddy!
Delete@silver lining, that is exactly as you say.
DeleteThanks Mygoddy, thanks Ina!
DeleteIt's disappointing that some of the images from the catalog are on the website under "Trending Now." There really aren't too many surprises in the catalog. A lot is already on the website.
DeleteHappy to help.
Delete@marbyeb, in case you're reading this --- you probably saw, but the rollneck sweater, in solid and striped version(s) seems to be back in stock in all sizes, etc. I know it was showing up as sold out the other day, but i think that happens with every rollout, for whatever reason. Some item will invariably show up as sold out, only to reappear shortly thereafter.
ReplyDeleteThanks @TM93. I saw the two colors reappeared and navy was added after the free shipping promo ended.
DeleteMy beloved cotton roll neck bought in 1993 just gave up after years of valuable service. I had really hoped this re-release would integrate the straight profile and hem of the original but this looks a little wide and boxy. I will be looking forward to the reviews. I also hope they release a wool version, not a $200 plus cashmere version, but a lambswool with the original roll hem. I have one of those left, bought in 1992, without any holes and minimal pills.
DeleteNope...not when sale is back to 30 off....same old junk higher price!
ReplyDeleteReposting here - I'm reviewing a bunch of August releases on my IG (handle: @sartorialchoices) - the Lily crackled gold flats, camo foundry pants, pleated back trench are all up. Over the last two weeks, I've also reviewed a gorgeous gold necklace, the camo print shirt jacket, and the two-button blazer in navy wool. Take a look and drop me a line!
ReplyDeleteHello! This is OT, but the price is good. If you like the new J Crew ombré skirt, Boden has a dress version of it that is similar in color. It's on clearance for $60, down from $200.

Any idea if there'll be a Madewell promotion any time soon? There are a few new arrivals I like a lot, but if I'm making a big purchase, I'd rather have the discount be a little larger than the 15% off student ones!
ReplyDeleteI'll be stopping in this morning to check out the new arrivals and do some try ons. I'll plan to post pics on my Instastory (@fablifeforever) and get a blog post up in the next few days.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried on the new Quilted Downtown Field Jacket? I don't find myself wearing my Downtown Field Jackets and I think the reason is they're not warm enough for when I want a coat. I might sell them and buy this one to replace, since I do like the styling.
ReplyDeleteMy questions are: What is the weight/warmth of the jacket like? Are the snaps super shiny? gold or silver colored? How is the fit/sizing?
Thanks!
I just received this in Deep Moss, Black is on backorder. Definitely heavier than the regular Downtown Field Jackets, but fabric is different, more of a brushed cotton, not the waxy type of fabric used for the regular jacket. I could see this absorbing rain like a sponge rather than repelling it. Snaps are shiny gold, and this has the same waist tabs that enable you to shape up the waist. Overall, a sturdy, well made piece worth the price. I will likely return since it is more casual-looking than I thought it would be and I have preferred alternatives. While not for me, I do recommend it.
DeleteP.S. I really liked the Deep Moss color, which is accurately represented by the website photo, and definitely brighter than the Deep Moss regular Downtown jacket that I own. It's a nice alternative to a fatigue-style jacket. I found my regular Small to be TTS, although a super bulky sweater might get uncomfortable.
DeleteThanks so much JenniferD! That's very helpful. The fabric is giving me pause, but I probably wouldn't wear it in rain. Hopefully my store gets it, I'd like to try it on in store.
DeleteI need a promotion to order some things from Crewcuts. I missed the last 25% off promo :(
ReplyDeleteReceived an email saying double points this weekend if I use my j crew card in the store only.
ReplyDeleteTwo items arrived at my door yesterday: Factory: SHOULDER STRAP TOTE in Camel. This one is a keeper. Vegan bag. Love the color and the size and shape are perfect for work. Price came out under $50 with sale+promo code.
ReplyDeleteAlso got the J.Crew Camouflage Foundry Pant, which appears to be sold out. I bet it will come back. Fit is TTS for me. I think they are keepers but need to try on a few possible outfits to be sure. I like the camo trend and these pants are very different than anything I have in my closet.
Has anyone seen the catalog and can give a style number for the 1988 Rugby shirt in pink and navy? I don't see it anywhere. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteDitto! I noticed that shirt in Mygoddy's Instagram posts and am very interested. I stopped by my local store yesterday and asked for the new style guide but they didn't have it yet :(
DeleteIt looks like it is # G8325
DeleteThanks Cate! I wonder if the reason so many stores don't have the style guide yet is because some of the featured products (like this top) are as of yet unavailable? You're killing me Jcrew!
DeleteSo far my pre-fall dollars have gone to a dress and pencil skirt from Boden. I also picked up a fun pair of leopard Harper capris at Old Navy today for $25 which will look great with a black tippi. If the 'Crew is going the way of fast fashion, and still going to charge $80 for polyester pants (I'm looking at you Cameron) then I just won't bite.
I was just on FB and j.crew featured this Rugby shirt in an olive/cream color and I remembered that a JCA was asking about the style number. Someones asked j.crew for info and they wrote this:
DeleteThe 1988 Rugby Shirt in Stripe (G8325) will be available to purchase with our September site launch next week - stay tuned!
Thanks Cate, I searched for that item number and nothing but if they are loading more items this week, it makes sense. Hopefully the quality is good, when they are naming items as 1988, it implies similar quality, I wonder if they realize that.
DeleteI ordered the rugby shirt today with my personal stylist. The order comfirmation email says it will ship 8/23. I called CS today to order but they couldn't find the item, so going with a personal stylist is your best bet. It will come in pink/navy, olive/champagne, and navy/ivory.
DeleteI got the 1988 Rollneck Sweater today in the pink color. I didn't look closely when I ordered it. I thought it would be 100% cotton, but it's 70 cotton/30 nylon. The sweet jasmine (pink) color is a saturated color veering toward coral. It's bright but not neon. Mainly I'm posting this to say that the sleeves are not bracelet like the web site copy says they are. They are full length on me.
ReplyDeleteCoral/peach, I should have said.
DeleteThanks Cate! That is disappointing, I had hoped it would be 100% cotton. Did you find the hem to lay flat or does it have stretch? Based on the fabric, I am now guessing it stretches a bit, hence the nylon.
DeleteI like the fit of the sweater. It has stretch but I think it lays flat (I haven't worn it yet). The description does say 70/30, so I can't fault them for not describing it right. I actually like that the sleeves aren't bracelet length. I'm just not sure about the color or if I like the nylon blend.
DeleteI ordered the white rollneck with the stripes. It didn't give the percentage so thanks for that. It hasn't arrived, we'll see if it's a keeper. I don't understand why they would hail it as a 1988 item, then make it less appealing?
DeleteSale at my store in SF is 30% off.
ReplyDeleteThey must be doing a Horoscope Tee event; caught me by surprise there was a tarot card reader set up with her glass ball and all..I chuckled inside, and thought to myself, Oh J.Crew. 😁 They also had snacks and drinks.
Still no style guide.
Can they predict if the company will do better under new mngmt? lol
DeleteThe style guide is on peterst1 instagram.
Deletest - I saw...I just wanted my own physical copy.

ReplyDeleteFor anybody who loved the Lady Coat in Braided Trim (F8418) but wanted a petite, J.Crew now has the petite version (G2416) on final sale. Strangely, they never had the petite when it initially hit the stores last Fall. Maybe it got lost in the warehouse? I asked for measurements on live chat. They didn't have them and waived the final sale on my order.
ReplyDeleteI noticed a similar issue with the Zip-front dress that came out this past spring. The petite version didn't come out till July or something very late like that. I'm guessing it has to do with their production schedule issues? Anyways, hope the coat works out for you! Nice that FS was waived just in case.
DeleteUgh, finally found something I love. I like the relaxed boatneck sweater before, but now that it is in the stripe, it's a must have for me. I wonder if I get it larger if it will fall off my shoulders? I really like oversized draped sweaters.
