J.Crew Final Sale {nice update & new markdowns}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Cate O (in this post), as well as Irina, who let us know that J.Crew has a nice update to their Final Sale section online (click here) this morning.

Lots of merchandise for everyone (1150+ for Women and 240+ for Men). Moreover, it looks like several new pieces made it to sale, along with some new price reductions. Yey!

It seems that all the sale pieces from brick & mortar (B&M) stores are starting to make their way back to the warehouse. This means we should be seeing some great sale stock in the upcoming weeks.

Lastly, it sounds like stores are still running an additional 30% off their Final Sale. Yey for that too! :) It looks like the stores are no longer running any additional percent off sale.

Did you check out the Final Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  1. I just ordered the kaleidescope capris and the safari cat long no. 2 skirt. My store was out of my size in the capris and never had the skirt. I also ordered two pairs of Janey flats that have been in my basket since the day they debuted. Hope I like them!

  2. There are also a lot of new promo-priced items this morning, including some of the new arrivals. Like Cate O said, there are a bunch of new markdowns, as well. I have updated both the women's and men's list today.

    *Men's list here.

  3. The Heart Me Tippi is already on sale! Wonder if it is marked down at the B&Ms? I have yet to try it on and I'm not ordering FINAL SALE.

    1. JCrew must have figured out they couldn't compete with the $25 Old Navy version, which sold out within days.

  4. I'm intrigued by the Telegram hobo in blue, but it's FS. Anyone care to give their $.02? Thanks!

  5. The Heart Me Tippi isn't coming up Final Sale when you add it to your cart, so you'll be able to return it. I ordered 2 sizes b/c I can never tell...everything at J.Crew seems to run so huge!

  6. Wow! The boy shirt in snowcat is already marked down! It rolled out a week ago in stores! Maybe the cafe capri in the same print will be marked down soon ;-). I saw a nice dress in snowcat in a b&m store last week, but I can't find it online. Hmmmmm.

    1. Those are chinos, and they fit a bit smaller than the cafe capris, so be aware of that. I liked the shirt in that print.

    2. I think the snowcat dress you saw is a Jules version of that print. I saw it last week. It will likely show up online soon. When the last Jules dresses came out, some showed up in the stores before being available online.

    3. coffeeshopandfunnyfaces: I reviewed the Jules dress in Snowcat here on my blog. Like Gigi said, it is an in-store only item right now, but should show up online soon.

    4. Thanks for the tips, Rose, GiGi and Fabulous Florida Mommy! I really liked the dress when I saw it, but I didn't have time to try it on and I couldn't just spend $188 on a whim! :-) The dress looks great on you, FFM! Maybe we can catch it on a sale if we wait a little bit ;-).

    5. And the Jules dress in Snowcat (and wool) is now available online...but I am still not sure about the price tag.

  7. I have been waiting ALL summer for certain colors of the 3" chino shorts to go on sale. It finally happened!!

  8. I recommend the Soludos espadrilles now that they are marked down to $14.99. I bought a pair in my M&M for $12.00 and have really liked them. Espadrilles wear out quickly in general, so scoop them up at this price!

    1. I second you on that- I bought 3 pairs at FP and never regretted = I wear them throughout summer non-stop; come home from work and switch into them. I even ride my bike in them. I posted a review awhile back -here.

  9. No final sale for me. Interesting how some stuff goes to promo so quickly... maybe the price point was too high to begin with, JC?

    1. Silver_Lining, I'm with you, no final sale! I can't believe items are already on sale that were released a week ago. What incentive is there to purchase FP? It also makes me think of Mickey's quote on that CNBC special... That items which make it to sale are "mistakes"...

      Delete
    2. I always think of that quote....but there's always only a handful of things that DONT make it to sale. Does that mean they only have a few items they "nailed"?

      Delete
    3. I guess I have a lot of "mistakes" in my closet then:)

    4. Every high priced sequin skirt is on sale now, hmm, what were you thinking Mr Drexler?

    5. Biscuitsandnavy- there are a lot of "mistakes" in my closet too!!

Don't get me wrong, I loooove a good sale, especially a JC one. But I get so tired of the pricing games. Price it right the first time. Allow returns of sale merch and make the price adjustment policy clear and apply across the board.

The whole, raise the price each year but continue to cut corners and sacrifice quality thing is such a turnoff. I've had a bit of a Babe Walker shopping meltdown this past week but none of my purchases have been JC and that is a first.

      Delete
    6. Tons of mistakes in my closet too but, I receive so many compliments on those items!

  10. Do the Mona Dreamweavers fit true to normal J Crew size? I have the Mona printed pumps, and I'm considering grabbing these at the price, but I know that final sale shoes are risky business.

Also -- has anyone tried the rainy day bow ballet flats?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Janet--- yeah... i bought the rainy day ballet flats a while back and returned them. they fit true to size (i'm usually an 8 in shoes and that's what i bought) but the sides of the shoes are cut kinda low... so i felt they made my feet look wider. also... they stunk. i thought i could just air them out thinking that they're rubber and have been stuck in a box for a while... but after a few days, they still stunk and i couldn't take it any more so i returned them. i saw a pair in the store and sniffed them to see if it was a real problem or just mine, and they were smelly too.

      Delete
    2. I passed on Mona Dreamweavers b/c the mesh stretched out a lot around little toes and the sides looked uneven. They fit TTS for me and I imagine would stretch even further. Unless you have a really narrow foot, they might end up being even more shapeless. I passed on Trellis Monas for the same reason.

      Delete
    3. Also the dreamweaver dye transferred onto my feet when I wore them the first few times. It basically looked like I'd been running through a coal mine. Yuck!

      Delete
    4. Thanks everyone. Sounds like the rainy day ballet flats will definitely be a pass for me -- my feet are a little on the wide side, and I know exactly what you're talking about, Miss JR.

I have the opposite of a narrow foot, so it sounds like I should pass on the Mona Dreamweavers, too.

Thanks for keeping me from making some regrettable purchases... I should know better than to even consider it!

      Delete
    5. Janet - The Monas are for people with smaller feet, imo. The toe box is Betty Boop small. The leather stretches out in the Dreamweaver, but it's still a tight fit. I wear 7.5, but take 8s in J Crew pumps. I couldn't get the 8 on and the 8.5 wasn't a ton better. I tried 8s on in the store that fit, but I think that's because they had been stretched by a number of people. They need to fix the Mona or mention in the description that it runs really small. I feel bad for folks who bought it on final sale and they don't fit.

      Delete
    6. Gigi, I agree with your assessment of the Mona. I usually wear a 7.5, and I too need an 8 in J. Crew pumps. I bought the printed Monas in-store (in a size 8) during the 40% sale for about $45, and even that felt like a risk. However, I have become a master of stretching shoes in the toe box to accommodate my slightly wide feet/bunions. I use a 50/50 rubbing alcohol and water mix in a spray bottle, and I bought a shoe stretcher from the cobbler. This made the break-in period much more tolerable, and much, much shorter. If anyone else has issues with a wider foot, I highly recommend learning how to stretch your own shoes.

      Delete
    7. teeny84, I had the same issue with the dreamweaver ballet flats. Of course, it was a time when I was heading straight to yoga from work even though I tried to clean my feet they still were stained.

  11. No final sale for me. I have been shopping Boden's clearance sale with great prices and free shipping and free returns AND I have 7 days to return items if they don't work out. Much better deal for the consumer.

  12. Coincidentally, I happened to clean my closet/bureau last night. I have *so* many items from past final sale purchases, that I just don't reach for. The items fit, but it wasn't "love" and somehow the reduced prices pushed me over the edge. I truly seeing how much they "cost" now, as I've almost never worn them! It's not just JC, but Gap/BR/ON/AT...Donating most of the items and shopping my closet for awhile..

I'm sticking with my plan (earmarking items I love in the catalog and watching for those items on sale). Holding out for quality pieces and staying away from final sale (unless it's for my kids and I know they will wear them! Crewcuts on sale is about the same price as Tar-jay/ON but with cuter styles :))...

  15. Decided I'd try some items from this rollout. The colorblock tank in navy/seamist, perfect shirt in snowcat, rugby tee in cabernet, and the heart tippi! None of them items are final sale, so if I don't like them, back they go!

  16. The only items tempting me are the Heart me (hoping the one with the blue heart is on sale at my store - there were a pile of them there yesterday) and the Telegraph mini satchel/hobo in blue. I'm afraid of the suede though. Can anyone comment on either of these? I see the blue suede getting messed up and possibly leaching dye :P

  17. I'm not sure what "mistakes" I have in my closet, but I find that statement insulting. If a company regards their product as mistakes, maybe they should be selling something they are completely confident are winners. Everyday I wonder why I shop at JC. Someday all the nonsense will just wear me down and I'll take my money somewhere else. But I guess it's not today since I ordered over $500.00 worth of merchandise. Probably all mistakes.

  18. Just asked my B&M if they would honor the online sale price of an item from new fall lineup that I tried on last Friday and they said no. So ordered online and added a non final sale swimsuit to get the free shipping.

  19. Has anyone tried the Rugby-stripe boatneck top? Wondering if the Cabernet colour will go well with my Golden Burgundy pencil skirt.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I did, and it fits large, so size down in it. (Reviews later this week). As far as colours go, I think the burgundy is a close match, looking at the photos I have. The top, however, is quite casual in comparison to the skirt, if you know what I mean.

      Delete
    2. I tried it, too, although I can't comment on the color because my store only had the retro jade/navy. I agree with Rose -- it runs very large. I tried on a medium (I'm almost always an 8, sometimes a 10) and I was swimming in it. I strongly suggest sizing down.

Also -- the linen was extremely rough. Depending on your tolerance for scratchy fabric, it might be a problem. I didn't like the feel of it, but of course ymmv.

The color of the blues was extremely saturated and pretty, though!

    3. Thanks! Sounds like I should probably hold out for the Polka Dot Tippi which is also on my list.

  20. Regarding the suede handbags, I would never purchase a suede bag that does not have a leather handle. The suede will quickly absorb the oils (natural or added) from your hands, which will wear down the nap. The end result is that the handle will look dirty and worn very quickly. Pass.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks xoxo. Your comment made me think, and I decided to pass too. I realized that, in addition to what you said about the handles (which is SO true!) getting an all-suede brightly colored bag to wear during the fall/winter rainy season in Seattle is just asking for it :P

  27. Hooray for the kaleidescope capris finally going on sale! Also tempted by the telegram suede mini hobo because of the blue color but suede is just not as nice or durable as leather, IMO. Also, I can see that blue color wearing off all over my clothes :(

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I just ordered the telegram mini hobo in blue! I've been eyeing it for a while, hoping it would go on sale! I haven't seen it in person, so I'm hoping that the blue is as vibrant in person as it is online. I'm also kind of concerned about the blue getting all over my clothes, I've had trouble in the past with jean dye transferring to my light color bags in the past too.

  28. Mr. Brown Shorts just brought me the Classic Shirtdress in Navy. I had high hopes for this dress. I really love a shirtdress.

    On the good side:

It is made out of nice fine cotton and looks nicely made. I'm 5'9" and it's the perfect length for me....hit just above the knee.

    Now the bad:

I ordered it in my regular Perfect shirt size because I could see just the shoulder and sleeves were fitted and the rest was a big unfitted tent. Unfortunately the shoulders were too tight and the sleeve too small. The sleeve has buttons that could be left unbuttoned, but I would prefer to wear it buttoned as it looks neater. The bodice of the dress fit well. The body of this dress from under the arm and down is huge. It's a huge tent that is belted with a self belt. Even though I'm tall (5'9") this dress made me look short and wide. Too much volume of fabric puckered around the waist and hip for me making my lower body look huge.

I'm not a small gal and I felt swallowed up in body of this dress. And all that fabric made me look ALOT bigger than I am. Bummer. Back it goes.

  31. Just wanted to chime in about crazy daily pricing.

Two days ago I ordered the blue silk shirt, and the polka dot shirt from the Factory store. The silk shirt was $65 and the polka dot $35. Now, both shirts are $10 higher.

It's like I'm watching the stock market, trying to decide when to buy. This is nuts.

    1. My in store PS told me the other day that they just shipped all their sale stuff back to the warehouse. And from what others have said about there being no sale stuff in the store right now, I'm guessing most of the stores have done the same. So, I bet there will be at least one more % sale some time soon. We shall see......

  33. AD MD....Gosh, since the snowcat is basically black and white it's like a neutral and should look nice with so many colors. I wear my leapord print shirt like that with skirts, capris, jeans...it's really versatile. I might break down and order it.

  34. I had the Short-Sleeve Selvedge Chambray Shirt in my shopping bag and was looking for something to add to get free shipping, and wham, someone else bought it. That's never happened to me before. Turns out it would've been too large, so all's well. I am SO hoping for a color-block stripe slash henley to pop back in my size, so far no go : (

  35. Unfortunately, I had the same BAD experience with the classic shirtdress (in the end on end fabric). The bottom is cut in a large triangle with a lot of extra, unnecessary fabric around the waist and hips. But, the top and arms fit well, so it does not appear that sizing down will help. It made me look 20 pounds bigger on the bottom. So very disappointed. ;(

    ReplyDelete
  36. Also, OT, but I ordered the Collection Photo Floral skirt using my rewards card since there was not much else that interested me and my size was selling out. Luckily, it is going straight back! First, the lining is polyester and not acetate. Unbelievable for $595.00. The lining is not sewn down all the way around just in a few spots wiht minimal thread. Second, the pattern is completely off in the back/not aligned, so it looks very cheap. Third, there are these inverted triangles sewn down in places around the waist that are unattractive and not sewn well and show with a shirt tucked in. Fourth, the zipper in the back is white plastic. It is very cheap. Fifth, the waistband is a wide elastic. Again, cheap and very unattractive. I also found the fit to be a bit odd. I am a pear shape but the hips were almost too big, which NEVER happens for me. And, the silk/wool was very thin and not as appealing as I had anticipated. All in all. This skirt was a MAJOR disaster and obviously priced based on the "special print" and no other details. I am actually thankful since it would have been my only fall purchase.

    1. Wow! Major disappointment. Thx for.posting

    2. Shekster-Thanks for the review. I 'was' obsessing over that print, the top preferably. Wondering if the top is the same, as far as pattern alignment when front fabric and back fabric is sewn together. I'm guessing it'll probably be not aligned as well. For the price, maybe its not worth the investment.

      Delete
  37. Shekster.....you are correct, sizing down is not an option with the shirtdress. The top is fitted as well as the sleeves. If I had sized up one size to accommodate my shoulders and arms, there would have been even more fabric bunched up with the belt around my middle and hips. Ugh. Just not a flattering look. I'm sure it'll be in the sale section soon.
