J.Crew Cardmembers only: shop the latest with 25% off and free shipping

"Thanks!" to Jen, reedandbamboo, Dina, Emily, & Irina, as well as kasia (in this post), who shared some news about an email sent to J.Crew credit card holders.

J.Crew cardholders should be receiving an email for 25% off *and* free shipping (any order! no minimum!) with a unique promo code. This offer expires September 11, 2012. The fine print includes:
*Offer may not be combined with any other promotion and does not apply to previous purchases, alterations or the purchase of gift cards. Offer valid 8/28/12-9/11/12. Offer does not apply toward J.Crew Collection and third-party branded merchandise. The J.Crew Rewards Program is provided by J.Crew and J.Crew may change the terms of the program at any time. The J.Crew Rewards Card cannot be applied to previous purchases. Rewards cannot be used as payment on the J.Crew Credit Card account. Subject to full terms and conditions of the J.Crew Credit Card Rewards Program (see jcrew.com).
It is unclear if you have to use your J.Crew card as payment. It is mentioned in the email image but not so much in the fine print.

Also, "thanks!" to Cousy (in this post) who let us know that if you do not get the email you can still have the code applied. She shares:
I'm a cardholder but as of 2:00 hadn't received my cardholder promo email. I called customer service and they told me that I could phone in an order between now and Sept. 11th and they would honor the 25% discount and free shipping.

Hope this helps for anyone who hasn't gotten an email yet...
I just want to say, good move on J.Crew's part! It is nice to see such a perk to card holders. Yey for all those with the email!!!

Did you get the card holder email from J.Crew today? If you are not currently a card holder, do you think this promotion will entice you? Please share!

  1. Has any Canadian received this? Wondered if it was like the deal we got several weeks ago.

  2. I have been a cardholder for over a year and this is the first perk I've gotten, so I am super excited about it :) I've been going back and forth over what to get. Thank you, J.Crew!

Something I'm considering is the Barbour Beadnell jacket. Do any JCAs own one? I have wanted one for about three years now but cannot bring myself to actually purchase. I am torn.

    Thanks :)

    1. I think Barbour jackets are totally worth it. Well made, and will last a lifetime.

    2. My guess is that the promo doesn't apply to Barbour jackets, unfortunately, since it says it can't be used on third-party branded merchandise.

  3. I did get it too! I'm of course going to be using this! No shipping minimum is great.

  4. They never had any kind of promo like this when I actually had a J Crew card! LOL Canceled it and now they start having great promos. Congrats to everyone who can take advantage of it....what a great deal!

  5. I had imposed a shopping ban as I have a vacation planned soon, but this offer may be too difficult to resist!

  6. Mine just arrived in my inbox. I usually don't get these so this is a rare treat for me.

I have no idea how they distribute the meager cardholder perks they offer, but I hope you all get yours too, and soon!

  7. I got it and have held off the last few promos, but this might break me!

    ReplyDelete
  8. So that is why they started calling all the cashmere sweaters "collection cashmere", because J Crew Collection items are usually excluded from promos, like this one.

    1. Thanks for pointing this out! I finally received my email late in the day yesterday and was so excited that I could FINALLY rationalize ordering the Collection Jules dress in silk scarf foulard. Guess not! Note to self: always, always read the fine print before getting excited.

  9. Cardholders, what do we think? Are any other new arrivals scheduled to hit the site prior to the Sept 11 expiration of this offer? I'm trying to balance the urge to use this, with the patience to see what else may land on the site that I want! I am definitely returning my schoolboy that I bought and repurchasing with this deal!

  10. I was not going to place any more orders for a couple months after my 30 pct off scores, but this offer may change my mind. Nice play, JC!

  11. Weird....I canceled my J Crew card over 18 months ago and just got one of the cardholder discount emails. Do you reckon it works with any card?

  13. Karend, I thought the same thing! I've been hoping for a FP promo so that I can snap up the Cashmere Bateau sweater...

Definitely will be using my promo code, I've been wanting to try the new sterling skirt, the stovepipe trousers and the navy Downtown jacket. Will hope I can "sneak" the bateau sweater in...doubtful, but a girl's gotta try!!

  14. I got something in the latest catalog about saving 20% if spend over $250 after using their stylist services, but nada on the cardholder perk yet. Hmph.

  15. Just got this in my inbox. I had no plans to purchase anything without a promo code. Me thinks a schoolboy blazer will be mine soon!

  16. I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this in my inbox. I then had to check that I didn't see any pigs flying outside my window! Of course I just paid full price for a cashmere sweater so I should be deterred but I'm so darn happy to see a discount code I'll likely use it!

  17. I was thrilled to receive this perk! It's great to see a cardholder-only promo. Disappointed though to see exclusions, especially Collection.

  18. This just arrived in my in-box, and I'm thrilled! I didn't receive the last 20% off promo and I shop J Crew ALL THE TIME! I'm so glad to see J Crew treating card holders right!

  20. Got the code and I am so excited to use it - I've had a number of things on my wish list of "Things to Buy with a Full Price Promo Code." How sad is it to actually have a list like that?? Please don't answer. :)

  21. I'm thinking about using my discount on some of the discounted items on their Factory site. Specifically, their factory wool walking coat (on-line it looks like the Lady Day coat) and the Factory Hacking Jacket in Charcoal.

I haven't shopped Factory in a long time -- their cuts were off and the material wasn't great. Would you all advise me? Should I try these items, and should I change sizes if I do? THanks in advance!!

  22. Hi all -

I'm a cardholder but as of 2:00 hadn't received my cardholder promo email. I called customer service and they told me that I could phone in an order between now and Sept. 11th and they would honor the 25% discount and free shipping.

  23. I have a card but I guess I don't use it enough to get perks :(
It's fine, the only thing I've been wanting to try is the snake print silk maxi skirt, and this promo excludes Collection...oh well!!! To all the JCAs that did get a code, enjoy!

  26. Finally! Thank you J.Crew. I was feeling very neglected after not getting some of the other cardholder promos recently. It was just what I needed to purchase the items sitting in my shopping cart!

  27. Got mine, thank you J Crew. I did place an order yesterday with 20% discount for first time VPS purchase and got some sweaters with the 30% off too. So for the full price items I that I plan to keep, will see if it is worth repurchasing. Does anyone know if this is available to use in stores, I could not see any restrictions in the fine print or did I miss something?

  28. Just got the e-mail. For those who haven’t received theirs yet, sit tight.  I sometimes get my J.Crew e-mails really late in the day, which is frustrating.

So when it says it “Offer may not be combined with any other promotion” does that mean the factory items at 40% off and stuff like that will not apply to this 25% discount. It has been so long since we’ve received a perk that I’m not sure how these rules work anymore..ha.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In the case of factory--those "up to 40% off" prices are as marked and you would get the additional discount but if they offer a promo code, you are not going to be able to combine them.

      Delete
    2. And to add another example, the recent sweater promo showed the sweaters at their promotional price, so you would have been able to apply this discount code. HTH.

    1. I just got my email with a code but I have a question for all you jcas out there. Do you think the not applicable to collection items and 3rd party brands really means you can't use it on any collection piece or only on the collection pieces that are a 3rd party brand such as Selma optics,Barbour etc. There are in good company items that are not collection so I can see making the distinction. Oh course most of my wishlist is collection and I would be totally bummed out if I can't use the looong awaited code on them. Now if we could get some awesome popbacks I would be a happy girl.
Have you tried the code on a regular (non-3rd party) collection item with success?????

I got my code and I'm looking to get my first Tippi sweater or cardigan. That being said, I am a strictly priced-down and/or sale only shopper at J.Crew so my options right now are the Tippi cardi in leopard and the Tippi sweater in linen. Any reviews on either of these items? Are they TTS? Thanks so much!!

  32. I just loaded my shopping bag with everything I've been having my eye on for the past month, including collection items. I entered in my code just to see what the total would come out to be - and I found out that the code applies to ALL items, including items currently on sale AND Collection items. This may be a glitch in the system but I decided to place my order now, just in case they fixed this later on..

  38. Got the code but...not sure I like anything THAT much to use. I know, right? Since I have until 9/11, I'm hoping that a few items come out this week that are a little more enticing to use my cc. I just paid that darn thing off. If I am going to use, it better be worth it. I still have my $75.00 card I need to use by 9/15. I'm slacking...

  39. I did not get a code (despite having a card) and don't feel like begging a CS agent for one. So irritating.

No 20% coupon in my last order (my third order since July). I am a bit miffed.

  43. I finally got the code. I thought about doing what some other posters have been talking about: returning my recent orders and re-ordering them using the promo (I would save like $26 if I did this). Although J. Crew has screwed me over in the past (not honoring returns, defective products, etc.), I am hesitant on the ethics of this. They are one of the few retailers whose customer service centers are located in the U.S., providing jobs for Americans in a suffering economy. I know they have a healthy profit, but I also feel as if they ought to be rewarded for providing jobs and paying their employees decently. Opinions on this?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I did get the perk, and was surprised as I never use the card, because I'd rather use my AMEX and get hotel points. This was a nice surprise, they should really take a hint from BR, the give cardholders all sorts of rewards.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Edit: I decided not to return my products and re-order them with the new promotion. Doesn't feel right. The number of good customer service agents I've encountered have greatly outnumbered the couple of awful ones.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree. I know there are many who do this and not trying to debate ethics but I also don't feel right returning something just to repurchase it a lower price. It is surely annoying when I've purchased something only to see the price get reduced, BUT I made the decision to purchase at that price and unless I don't like the item itself for whatever reason I keep it.

      Delete
    2. Agreed. I've rarely done the return/repurchase. I make the decision to buy or wait for a promo. Overall I've had good CS too and don't want to abuse it.

      Delete
    3. I totally agree. I have never done the return repurchase either. I pay I for items, I bought them, their mine. If they ever go lower oh well. my life does not allow time for that kind of craziness and hassle!

      Delete
    4. I have no problem doing it in extreme cases, i.e. last fall I fell in love with a swingy pink mess of a coat, the name of which is escaping me, and I purchased it for FP at $425. Just 2 weeks later I found the same coat hanging on the clearance rack for something like $199 less 30% off, but after searching several stores, not one had my size. I finally spoke with a store manager and she politely but begrudgingly allowed me to return and repurchase the one I already had. A week later, both of the side seams split open and I've never worn/fixed the coat since, so I can't say I regret what I did. I do, however, regret purchasing the coat in the first place, but the funny thing is I remember posting here the day I bought it and saying how I thought it was great quality even at FP. (Biting my tongue)

      Delete
    5. Just to clarify, I hadn't yet worn the coat when I asked to return and repurchase; it was still in the original garment bag with tags attached as it did not get too chilly in NYC until later in the season.

      Delete
    6. Dara, I think this is the flared perfect coat -- I also purchased it, but marked WAY down (as is the JC way) -- and haven't worn it yet, so cannot comment on quality control. But, even if you got the price adjustment and even if this was last year's coat, I would try taking it in this winter to show the SA or manager the problem and ask if they will fix it. My store does this for me often for sub-par quality items, usually at no charge but always at a far lower cost than my tailor. It's worth a try, it is a pretty and unusual coat!

      Delete
  46. Does anyone have a code they don't want? I don't want to call CS because the only thing I want is Collection, and I bet they wouldn't do it. My email is dupont . clairen @ gmail . com ....it would be greatly appreciated! :)

  47. Hmm, I got the email at an address that is way outdated--it's not the e-mail I use for my J.Crew orders nor is the e-mail I use for my J.Crew credit card. I guess I shouldn't complain, but it seems strange.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It was my lucky day, apparently. I got the J. Crew e-mail when I rarely get these things.

Interestingly, when I went to get the mail, I was reminded of how precious and few the J. Crew cardholder perks are, because I received a birthday card from Vera Bradley with a $20 "gift card" in it. Personally, I hate Vera Bradley (sorry if there are fans out there). The only time I shop there is for my mom and my aunt so they must have my info, but $20?

I was impressed, have to say, but why can't it be J. Crew offering the fabulous birthday surprise?

    ReplyDelete

    1. I love Vera Bradley.they're the only bag I carry!

    2. They're good for cosmetic bags, travel pouches, and my favorite: the curling iron/flat iron heat protectant sleeve. I'm not big on the prints either, but I always use the $$ discounts (I get them occasionally not on my birthday, too!) on those items.

      Delete
  49. Oh they think they are so tricky--you're only supposed to be able to use this once, but I complained and asked if they wanted me to cancel the order I made this morning, so I can add 1 more item, to ship to my daughter (who's suffering with a hurricane.) And lo! they'll be glad to help. I think you do have to pay with the credit card, though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. For the posters out there asking for unwanted promo codes, here's a potential solution:

why not ask someone who lives in your city to purchase your item for you along WITH their own order? =) Just a thought!

  52. I didn't get the email, from what I am reading here,it looks like J Crew is trying to lure cardholders in that have not used their card in a while. 56. This has happened so many times before with the randomness of promo offers. The criteria probably have nothing to do with how recently a cardholder used their card, or how much they do or don't spend.

It could be demos, DMA, B&M purchase patterns, deal sensitivity, or whether the card # ends in an even or odd digit.

    It could be anything.

  68. While this is likely coincidence, I shop at JC very, very often, both in-store and online, and I never receive targeted promos. I stopped using my JC card over a year ago because the 5% back just isn't worth it, and this promo I received. Interesting.

  69. Used my email promo to pick up a lovely Bromptom Hobo in henna and two pairs of the Seville Espadrilles.

I already own a Brompton and love, love, LOVE it! I take it everywhere, and it just gets more beautiful with time--but I wanted to grab a spare just in case the unthinkable happens! :)

Also recently grabbed the Espadrilles in red in-store (for a steal--many thanks to the B/M associate who honored the online discount price!), and they fit perfectly (TTS), are so comfy, and look lovely! So today I ordered similar pairs in the nautical stripe and black (black recently reduced, both 49.99).

  79. I used the live chat feature last nite & a rep marked my account w/the 25% info. So when I'm ready to place an order online it can be applied. I didn't receive a code by email nor was given a code by the rep. So I'll have to place the order over the phone or thru live chat. I might shop in-person and will ask my ps to apply it. If she has any hesitation, I will have her call in to verify the note on my account. There may not be a code for her to scan, but she can do a manual adjustment for the 25%.

  80. I got the discount using the live chat function. I explained that I was a cardholder and that I heard about the 25% off + free ship and asked if she could send me a promo code. She said that she would note it in my acct but that I would have to call the 800 number to place my order. I called and the disc was applied :). Happy shopping!!!

  81. I never received the original email with the code but just received a reminder to use it by the 11th and it included my code. So excited.
