I love the bridal gown with the lace and gores at the bottom. It is nice to see them do something besides so much silk tricotine. I also love the robin and was thinking it would be pretty with some chantilly lace in the front peaking up under the drape neck so it is funny they did that in the back. Still wish it was in the front though. I also like the knife pleated cocktail dress (not sure name).
ReplyDeleteThe first dress is very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI do not care for the colors shown in the other party dresses. The neutrals are just not flattering on me and make me look sick.
I love the last, champagne colored dress. The last two bridal gowns were also lovely (the ones with the bustles/trains). As for the color pallet, I really like it for the most part...it kind of says "Is it really fall already?" like their kind of easing gently into fall. The only thing I didn't like was some of the really pale nude colors...it's kind of like, is she naked??
ReplyDeleteWhy do the models always stand pigeon-toed?
ReplyDeleteSite has updated for today. There are a few items marked down more as well.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see more short (knee or tea length) wedding dresses. The sanglé dresses in champagne or light pewter are IMO a really nice alternative to the traditional white/ivory gown, though.
ReplyDeleteAgree with tastymoog - I'd love to see some tea length gowns!!
ReplyDeleteThe champagney/violety cocktail dress with the knife pleating was sooooo beautiful. I swoon. I really like nude shades for dressy occasions - so elegant. Not everyone's cup of tea though.
I love the silk chiffon bridesmaid dress (I think it is shown in a cantaloupe color on the sneak peek page). I'm in a wedding in September and the BMs all get to pick a black dress to wear in the wedding... I'm planning on going with that one!

ReplyDeleteAnother vote for shorter wedding gowns. I'm looking for my dress now and it would make sense to go with J.Crew considering how much I love the store, but I'm really not loving their dresses. I have one or two in mind as a back up, but none of these new ones did anything for me. A bustle?!? dear lord, why would I want to make my a$$ bigger on my wedding day.
ReplyDeleteI like just about everything except #14 - that doesn't seem like it's going to be looking snazzy with a big ol' butt bow.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Tastymoog that some shorter wedding dresses would be great. The ivory Sadie was pretty popular for that for a few years.
This is a nice roll out for 2009. There's something for everyone and I especially love that pleated number.
ReplyDeleteMost of the cuts are graceful and the pallete of colours is nice - not too extreme, but wearable for many skin tones.
agree with tastymoog - would love to see short wedding dress options...but omigosh, i love the color palette. so romantic!
ReplyDeleteI also love the accordion pleated dress. A lot of the other stuff is pretty boring though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dresses!
ReplyDeleteI did have to laugh, though. Like Sproutina, I've always wondered at the pigeon-toed look. Same with what I call the J. Crew Model Slouch.

ReplyDeleteI emailed them about the first dress pictured and here's what I was told. The lines that you see in the fabric are actually rows on sequins. The whole dress is covered in them. It will be released in late October, priced around $2800 and offered in sizes 0-10. I adore it. I can't wait!
