In the "J.Crew Email: A long awaited sale... " post, Cheryl and other Aficionadas mentioned that J.Crew is re-offering their Ringspun Cotton Rosette Tee (Item 13126; $48.00) in stores as part of their "new arrivals" roll-out, but this time in pewter/light grey.
"Thanks!" to Nichi who was kind to share with us an image of J.Crew's Ringspun Cotton Rosette Tee in the *new* grey version. The original tee in Shell Pink is gorgeous, but seemed "washed out" on me- so I am happy to see this tee being offered in grey now. :)
Do you like the new shade of the Ringspun Cotton Rosette Tee? Do you think you will stop by a brick and mortar (B&M) J.Crew store to look at (if not purchase) this tee? :)
Shoot. Just bought it in white and shell pink last week with my 25% off card. Oh well. Sigh. I really like the grey because the chiffon roses show up so much better.
ReplyDeleteSo I know everyone here is a big fan. Does this shirt look better in person?
ReplyDeleteTo me it looks really cheap and not so cute looking.
Maybe I will have to visit my store and see it.
Hmmmmm......it's def interesting in a weird way.
So cute! I love it and the white.
ReplyDeleteI don't like either any osette tee or last year's famous rose tee. I think they both look cheap if close.
ReplyDeleteAre the roses chiffon or painted on, on the grey tee? For some reason, it doesnt look like chiffon to me.
ReplyDeleteI think I can see stitching and some threads from the chiffon. Maybe it's just the photo...it's kind of giving a 'flat' look to the rosettes. I'd have to see it in person to decide but I do like the contrast and the color light pewter. Thanks for the picture. :)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I notice the Yoga section is no longer displayed on the main page. There are still a few items remaining if you enter yoga in the search box. I wonder if they consider the Yoga line a 'hit' or 'miss'.
I like the look of the gray but I have it in natural and the new white one... I don't think I need 3. It's very cute though. I probably would have purchased this one of the white, maybe I'll exchange.
ReplyDeleteOoops, Yoga category is still there it's just under catalog/jcrew.com exclusives.
ReplyDeleteI like the pewter and purchased it today and also own the shell. The SA mentioned it will probably sell out before the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe contrast makes the rosettes kinda look like cartoon scribbles on the shirt in that pic. Not a bad thing, I'm just saying. That's just my first impression from the photo.
ReplyDeleteThe rosettes do look a little flat in the blowup pic but maybe they need to be steamed to fluff up a bit. I steamed the rosettes on my shell tee and they looked totally fluffy.
Thanks for posting the photo and details.
I'm supposed to pick mine up today at the store - so nice to see a visual of this before heading over! I do think I like it – we'll see what I think when I see it in person. Thanks for the photo! :)
ReplyDeleteI am dying for this tee in medium or small. I have a NIB acorn necklace to trade for one. I am on a shopping hiatus DH enforced so if anyone has one to trade please please let me know. I can also pay from my secret Paypal account. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI know this is popular with most but there are past posts where people don't care for it...that is fashion. I read the post where a lady said someone said the rosettes looked like cow "patties" to put it nicely. Now I cannot get that image out of my head!
ReplyDeleteI just don't look good in really light neutrals that are popular now. I wish this tee came in other colors. I do have plenty of white tees as well...since they seem to be coming out with new colors in this one...I can hope for a more saturated colors still.
Didn't see it today at the store! Can't find it online either...Oh well, I alreayd have the pink one and I think it's pretty!
ReplyDeletethanks Nichi! i was dying to see this in pewter. i really like it! have to check it out myself :)
ReplyDeleteLadies who own a Rosette Tee...
ReplyDeleteI tried mine on at the store quickly for sizing yesterday and left because I had an afternoon assignment to get to. I tried it again last night for a little longer and found it a little itchy under the rosettes.
Is this normal? I'm begining to think this might get horrbily irritating when worn for a day. I do not like to wear cami's under tees, I feel like they should stand on their own.
I'm curious what you experiences are.
This shirt still doesn't appeal to me, but I do like seeing items offered in more colors!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the pic! :)
ReplyDeleteNichi,
ReplyDeleteI would return it as I know I would not wear something that itches! Everyone's skin is sensitive but in different ways.....maybe see if another one is better while you are there to return the itchy one!
I saw this in my store, and while it's still very cute, I think the pink looks the best with the roses! Speaking of that, my B&M had a big stack of all sizes of the shell version on Wednesday, and when I went back on Thursday, completely gone! (before I even had a chance to post it on here for those still looking!!)
ReplyDeleteI have it in the nudie color, which I like, but I bought it before the coming of the pink or grey, which I kind of love. I just can't justify collecting multiples of this one, since it is decidedly not cheap!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone's looking for this one, they had a big stack of the grey at the Ann Arbor store yesterday morning.

ReplyDeletePetunia, that is a great pic, thanks for sharing. I think it looks great on you, although I dare say most anything would. ;-) The color is definitely really washed out and the rosettes show up well in contrast. I can see why it would be a pass for some, I could not wear this light gray near my face. I need color or plain white.
ReplyDeleteNichi I thought mine was going to be really itchy when I first put it on a couple weeks ago. Later, I wore it around the house for a couple hours and it was fine. Then I wore it to work all day without any itch at all. I totally forgot about my itch concerns until you mentioned it. I steamed the appliques after the initial try-on at home so maybe that helped soften whatever was stiff and scratchy. It certainly did perk up the flowers. They were totally flat when I took them out of the package. A little steaming and running the steamer right over the fabric to make the chiffon stand up and voila - gorgeous blooms.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the pic!
ReplyDeleteI am in the minority here...this shirt didn't appeal to me as much as their other graphic tees have in the past. But, that being said, I do like the pewter better than the other colors. Congrats to those who have this tee (in any color!) and are rocking it out like a true JCA :)
The grey is so cute...I don't know if I will get it but I bet a lot of you will look very nice in it!
ReplyDeleteMy pink tee in this style is too big (I thought it would be smart to buy it a little big but it just looks sloppy).
I haven't washed it yet...but was wondering if washing it inside out and then drying it in the dryer on high heat might help to shrink it. Since it is inside out, I am thinking the roses should be okay (and I don't mind if they fray...that is the look they need to look for)...has anyone else shrunk this shirt? And I am not looking to get a small...I fear that it would be too small.
Any advice or insight would be appreciated!
I LOVE my tee....the contrast is very versatile. It goes lovely IMO with both the sateen pencil skirt in slate and the gladiola print pencil skirt....I have both...sadly the GLADIOLA skirt is for someone with hips and I have none. If anyone is interested shoot me an email. its a size 2 and is NWT.

Dina - Try the wet trick I read about here long ago. Wash the tee. Dry it until it's still damp. Put it on. Yes, while it's damp and wear it till it's dry. It's supposed to form to your body. I'd try that before putting it on high in the dryer. Let us know if you try that.
ReplyDeleteTina- I don't know how straight your hips are. Mine are pretty straight and I love it. Good to know the tee goes w/the skirt. I'll have to try it.
I picked up the grey yesterday at my B&M. The color is more appealing IRL. My SA also mentioned they anticipate a sellout of this by the end of the weekend. I got the shell last time and it is like wearing a piece of art. I always recieve compliments! I suggest trying the gray on with a pink Jackie for contrast-SUPER cute!
ReplyDeleteHi GiGi. I love your blog!!!! You inspired me to buy the skirt in the first place lol. To be honest the skirt probably works better for you because your shorter than I am...I'm about 5'7, 125 pounds...so I look like a pencil in a pencil skirt :(. The skirt looks great on you...me? not so much.
ReplyDeleteGigi: I am totally going to try that...maybe I can have it be damp on one of the mornings I walk to school...it could keep me cool and it will get dry (and hopefully shrunk) on the way! I will let everyone know if it works. Thank you...I totally appreciate your advice!
ReplyDeleteThe rosettes are chiffon, it looks really nice in person. I stared at this yesterday in the store for like 20 minutes ... I really wanted to get it in the gray (I love the pink, too, but I am so pale and usually try to stay away from pink) ... but ultimately I didn't get it. They even had it in the larger sizes, so it must have just come out.
ReplyDeleteGot it yesterday. Love it! Very cute IRL and yes, the chiffon really does "standout" more on this tee than the other colors. Crazy about it...run, don't walk to your B&M. They will sell out for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love this color the best but since I already own way too much grey, sadly, I have to pass on this!
ReplyDeleteHi. Does anyone know how this shirt fits compared to the perfect fit tees? I'm a M in the perfect fit and was wondering if I'd be M in this also.
ReplyDeleteI love this tee and I'm actually wearing it right now. I bought it on Wednesday at the Prince St, NY location and they only had two left at the time. I'm embarrassed to say that I own this tee in natural, white, and shell, but I love this color the most. Definitely makes the rosettes stand out more. I highly recommend it!
ReplyDeleteI love my pink rosette tee! To those asking about fit, IMO the original rosette tee runs large and if you are in doubt about size I would size down. I don't know whether the new version would fit the same.
ReplyDeleteI think the heightened contrast in this version shows the rosettes better than the shell and natural colors, but gray is a bad shade for me and I will pass.
Aficionadas--have you washed your rosette tees already? Do you think any special precautions are necessary?
Dina, I successfully shrank my rolling ruffles tank in the way you described with no harm to the ruffles, but given the chiffon issues with this tee it sounds like Gigi's trick might be a good idea.
I like this tee in real life, bloggers and the catalog model with Ms Icon Trench Hutton on the cover. I think the flat rosettes is one reason I would buy this tee. I have not bought it yet. I will very soon now that they have it in grey.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for washing reviews from bloggers to Hexicon.
I wash each ringspun tee the same way, inside out, individually in mesh bags, warm or cold water, then dry flat. I do have a steamer, a big ole' Rowenta, but it hasn't seen any action since my wedding dress. (Or before that, for that matter.) That's a good idea to steam the rosettes, though, and would probably do that if I wasn't so lazy about that stuff.
ReplyDeleteI like the gray but am very happy with my white rosette tee. I wear white tees, camis, tanks under so many tops that the white rosette is a really nice change. I don't find the tee itchy - but because the white is sheer, I wear a tank or cami underneath, so that would eliminate the itching issue. (And I don't feel bad because I hears a 25-y.o. SA with the most perfect figure talking about how she wears a perfect tank under hers.)
ReplyDeleteWashing review - I have washed mine. And I am, admittedly, a bit lazy about laundry. I washed it in the extra gentle cycle, inside out, with 1 other blouse, and then laid flat to dry. It looks great and washed really well!
I have the pink one and it's one of my favorite shirts to wear. I love to wear it with a suit like one of the models did in the early spring catalog. Grey is my favorite neutral right now so I have to get one. I just put a medium on hold. Yes they do run kinda large. I washed my pink one inside out in the washing machine in cold water and it was fine. I have also handwashed it.
ReplyDeleteMy local B&M (Madison, WI) have all 3 colors in almost every size.

ReplyDeleteSteaming the chiffon rosettes really does fluff them up a lot and makes them more visible and IMO, much prettier. I have this tee in shell pink and one is enough for me, thank you very much! I have been purging my closets and dressers recently and man, what a ton of stuff I no longer wear. The good news is that there are <5 NWT items and they are all recent purchases that I expect to wear. But I really do need to clear out the old to make way for the new, or I'm not going to be able to fit any new into my closet. Anyone else with a closet that is so full you can't even move the hangers to make more space? LOL

ReplyDeleteGoldcoastgal-I just returned from my 2nd-yes 2nd trip to my B&M today. They said most stores got the white rosette T on Monday and soldout on Monday. I'm in the midwest and my store was already selling out of the new items from today! I'm glad I went back-got 2 of the cutest s/s cardigans! The Nora in pink-ruffles down the front and the Cascading Petals in whethered stone w/ tiny flowers by the neckline. So glad I had my rewards card to help soften the blow at the cashwrap!
ReplyDeleteI would really need to see the grey IRL to decide how I feel about it. I think it would be awesome with a black cardigan.
ReplyDeleteI have the rosette tee in shell and in white and love them. Even though the rosettes don't necessarily stand out on the white I still adore the tee. It's a slight twist on the classic white tee and as Heidi mentioned it is great for layering.
I wanted to shrink my tee so I followed the instructions that Gigi mentioned and it worked well for me. I hand washed it subsequent times after until the last time when I got lazy and threw it in the wash inside out in a garment bag on the delicates cycle. I let it air dry. It came out fine but I did notice the rose seemed to be a little more puffed which is fine by me b/c they were pretty flat to begin with.
I stopped by B&M and purchased this shirt today. I was honestly not a big fan of the shirt until this pewter color! I love love love it! The chiffon roses DO show up SO much better in this color. There were only 2 of these shirts left, so get to a B&M fast if you are interested!!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have any pictures of the new items at J. Crew? It will be a little while before I can get back to the store to check them out.
ReplyDeleteI have one in shell(s) another in white(xs), and haven't worn them yet...the chiffon rosettes look too delicate to wear & wash. I was going to return them. Maybe I should give them another chance. I want to see the grey one though...I just can't drive 90 miles to see the tee IRL(that's how I got the white tee ;-)
ReplyDeleteI have the pink and the white, but was not fond of the gray. The gray is still available in all sizes at our local store. The shirt is beautiful, very soft and washes extremely well.
ReplyDeletesusan what is your local store?
ReplyDeleteI had every intention of buying this today, but I just don't love it. Maybe if it came in a saturated color? It's pretty, and I'd pick it up if it was discounted (although they sell too fast for that to happen :D). Charleston, SC, had a small pile for those interested.
ReplyDeleteHave the white rosette tee, and absolutely love it. It's more than "just a white tee shirt." It compliments many outfits. I saw the gray rosette tee, not impressed. Although, I wouldn't own two versions of this tee, considering the price. I have washed mine, like Heidi, in "gentle cycle" and lay flat to dry. No problem!!
ReplyDeleteI have the rosette tee in shell that I was able to get via the online sale with a promo about a month ago. It is a pretty design, but not fabulous enough for me to buy more than one. Well, not in grey anyway. I'm with Math Teacher, if it were available in a saturated color I might pick up another. Neutrals other than white are not the best for me. But I did get the shell, after stalking the website. I just could not resist the hype and felt that I would be missing out if I didn't get it.
ReplyDelete;-)
Also managed to get the pink Belle satchel online recently, but it took a long time to ship so I'm not sure what that's about, maybe the other items in my order caused the delay. It should arrive next week and I'm pretty excited about it, like I am about every new bag. I have the Lauren Hutton catalog open to page 28, looking at the bag at least a couple times a day. The color is different between the catalog and website, as well as Laura In Real Life's video. I think it looks really sweet though, I think I can totally rock it this summer.
I used my rewards card but got the hottest selling Collection piece EVER! The poppy floral jacket! I thought about this tee but passed. It is only a tee shirt. I really like the Gladiola jacket and got that one too:)
ReplyDeleteHave this tee in white, shell, and now grey! I think it's such a versitile piece that I'll be able to wear it with tons of my jackets and cardis. I highly recommend it. (I hope Jcrew doesn't keep making them in other colors because I'll end up buying them all!)
ReplyDeleteMessage for Tina: my local store is in Victor NY 585 425 3060. They had the rosette tees in grey yesterday

ReplyDeleteI know this is a bit late but I thought I would chime-in on dinagideon's question about washing/shrinking these tees! I have this tee in the shell & in the natural and mine were a bit to big/loose so I washed them in a mesh bag, inside-out, on handwash cycle, in hot AND dryed them on high and they turned-out great! :) They shrunk-up just a bit and they fit much better now! The chiffon flowers are just a little more fluffy now too!
ReplyDeleteSo, if the other methods mentioned here don't work right for you, this might be worth a try! Good luck!!!
Also, I do like the pewter color here but since I am an hour away from my closest B&M, I have not been able to see it IRL yet ~ I'm sure they are already sold-out now too!!! Plus, I already have 2 so I really do not NEED another! :)
