"Thanks!" to many of you, including Dina, who shared with us an email J.Crew sent last Friday about their latest promotion.
J.Crew is offering up to 30% off select sweaters. This offer is available online (click here) and in-stores.
Speaking of sweaters, I recently bought the Cotton-Cashmere Bouquet Cardigan in Putty (Item 12728; was $78.00; now $59.50 online, but $49.99 in stores) and I love it! The "trio of cotton lawn flowers" is such a lovely detail. It makes this otherwise simple cardigan, a little bit more interesting. The only downside to the cardigan... it's "hand wash" only.
Are you planning to take advantage of this promotion? What sweaters have you recently purchased that you would recommend to buy or recommend staying away from? ;)
I noticed today that the cotton/cashmere bouquet cardi was on promo. I'm glad to hear that you like it Alexis. I think it's a beautiful cardigan and plan to buy one now that it is on promotion. I love J.Crew's cotton/cashmere blend. Soft, warm and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteM
I bought the same cardi. I think the bouquet/flowers make this cardi special and because I bought it in such a neutral color (putty) makes the cardi not boring. I'm planning to wear it likely with a pencil skirt, maybe a button down or tank, for work.
ReplyDeleteAh phooey, none of the sweaters that I've been eyeballing are on sale. :(
ReplyDeleteAnon at 12:18AM / M: I think you will really like the cardigan. It's so pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteDina: Congrats on getting the cardigan too! The putty version is such a great neutral, that it goes with almost anything. :)
♥ Chloe: Sorry to hear none of the sweaters you are interested are on sale yet. But as we know J.Crew, just waiting a week or two, and new items will go on sale. :)
ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me if they have the cotton cashmere bouquet cardigan in other colors in store (retail only colors?) I love the sweater, but not the 4 colors it comes in online. If I had the name of the other colors maybe I could call a store and have then send it...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the help!
Yes, I agree I don't like the colors this sweater comes in. Also, I don't have a store nearby and have heard the flower are rather fragile looking like they won't wear well. Have found that some of JCrew's items lately just don't look they are meant to be washed at all! What happened to pretty blues, greens and purples in the color spectrum?
ReplyDeleteI thinkI will wait for further markdowns. Seems to be plenty of this sweater in stock and while it is pretty it is missing some of the WOW factor I usually find at JCrew. Many of the sweaters seem to go down to around $30-40 dollars if I wait long enough or wait for an extra % off code.
ReplyDeleteSale section updated this morning. A lot of items, but they are sold out after the jump.
ReplyDeleteColor Selection- The only one that is on sale is the "putty" color (or at least it was this weekend) the others are full price.
ReplyDeleteI got 4 of the Silk and Linen V-Neck sweaters in:
Navy
Champagne
Warm Blush
Slate
I also got 3 waterfall cardigans in:
Navy
Snow
Light Pewter
Also the Michelle V-Neck cardigan in:
Dark Charc
Light Pewter
And the Cashmere Bouquet cardigan in:
Putty
Semi-on-topic (since it's on sale) - does anyone know anything about the fit of the merino flutter trim tunic, since it's catalog/internet only? I am loving it, but wonder it it's TTS. TIA!
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly, there aren't many sweaters I am all that interested in right now... maybe the 3/4 sleeve cashmere cardigan, cotton scroll cardigan, or the merino mariner jacket.
ReplyDeleteThe cotton scroll cardi is nice, although not on sale. Anyone have it and can offer an opinion?
ReplyDeleteIf the crocodile cardi was offered with the tipping that was on the version in the magazine page featured here a while ago, I would buy that in a second. I love that style.
I see the chiffon rosette tee on FS this morning, but it is gone when I click through. Anyone manage to snag one? They are like $125 on ebay. Crazy.
ReplyDeleteO/T: Kathy Ireland was on Fox and Friends this am wearing the
ReplyDeleteMedallion lattice top and a pair of white pants. It was very pretty. Couldn't tell the shape or fit as she was sitting down.
I am loving the rivulet cardigan, but it is not on promotion. Boo-Hoo! But I know I can just stalk it and the price will drop soon. Has anyone tried it on? Any comments on fit or look of it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteNice promo for the ladies, once again the guys are shut out.
ReplyDeleteCongrats Alexis, this sweater is super pretty!
ReplyDeleteEven if not on sale, can anyone comment on the color selection available in store for the boquet cardi? I would love it in the bright tulip color but didn't see that online.
I wish the rivulet cardi had buttons rather than hook and eye. I find the h&e closures tend to gap across my chest.
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew guy in Canada do you let J.Crew know that you feel shut out? Might be worth your while to send them an email so they will take note.
Hey anonymous at 10:00; not a bad idea to fire off an email to J.Crew and ask for some love for the guys; will do.
ReplyDeletethere are two b&m's i go to in the baltimore area and i went to the one in the galleria this weekend and its GONE!
ReplyDeletei was so bummed that i need to trek all the way to towson now.
boo!
Does anyone know if we can use our 20% off crewpon on top of the 30% off sweaters?
ReplyDeleteAlso, can anyone comment on how well the cotton/cashmere blend wears? It's very soft, but given the pilling I've had with my 100% cashmere pieces, I wondered if this blend held up any better or if it was even worse.
Thanks!
I think you can combine a sale discount and the red card - it says the 25% applies to goal purchase, including full price and sale items
ReplyDeleteI find the library shawl cardi (70 % cotton, 30% cashmere) to pill a little, but not nearly as much as the 100% cashmere pills. I wore the library last week and the pills were tiny and quite localized to the armpit and where my low back rubbed on the office chair. I whisked them off with a pumice stone in about 30 seconds though, no problem.
ReplyDeleteI really wanted the art deco cardi to be on promo. Nothing else has really peeked my interest.
ReplyDeleteCany anyone comment on the Cashmere-silk shimmer cardigan in dark straw? TIA
ReplyDeleteAnon @ 8:59 I have also had my eye on the cotton scroll cardi, but have yet to see it IRL. I'm curious about the fit.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone out there purchased it?
I placed an order on the phone last Thursday, which shipped Friday . . . should have arrived today, but the UPS tracking is still just showing "billing information received." I called JCrew and the SA let me know that they are changing the way they are shipping--something having to do with driving things to distribution centers/saving money??--at any rate, she hinted that I could expect more delays like this in the future. So maybe no new frock in time for Easter for me. What a bummer!
ReplyDeleteanon 1:37: I am having a similar problem, my tracking # from last night is showing invalid, and CS knows squat what is going on.
ReplyDeleteI had a parcel ship last Friday with no problems, so I would phone back and hope to speak to someone more knowledgable.
Has UPS cut back as well?
Hmmm...yes, maybe the problem is cut backs at UPS? Lots of things are happening at once in my household, signs of the bad economy--a notice of raised APR on my credit card, meaning I won't be going over my monthly budget again accruing FS goodies. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteFYI Everyone-there's some new arrivals on the website, mostly knits and tees....a cute tye dye one and a couple others.
ReplyDeleteJCrew charges sky high prices for shipping and cannot get it right!!??What a load of ......
ReplyDeleteAnon 1:37pm:
ReplyDeleteMy Thursday online order was not shipped until Friday evening (per JC email). And just checked the tracking number on UPS site, it's 'rescheduled' for delivery today. So it's within the time window of 4-7 biz days.
Hi all,
ReplyDeleteLike many JCAs, I'm a huge fan of the Jackie sweaters. Sooooo disappointed that they weren't included in this promo. I guess I'll have to keep waiting for a sale / discount to come along & help me add to my selection.
Hope y'all found the sweaters you were looking for!
Heather:D
love your blog! has anyone received a 25% off "Spring Fling" card for in-store purchases until April 30th?
ReplyDeleteJust received my constellations linen strapless dress, ripstop cargos in green, and lavender argyle cardi w/weird placket--I have to say that none were exactly what I was expecting, but I love them all. I am really heartened--they are the pretty, flattering duds I keep coming back to JCrew for, and that were in short supply in the early spring collection. There are some weird sizing issues I can live with--usually I'm complaining that things run too big, but all are actually a bit snug this time around. The linen constellations dress does some funky rolling thing under the arms/at the back because of the elastic, but again, I think I can live with it. Nice note from Mickey reprising the message that came with the red card. Now I hope to get a few more things before the 25% off expires!
ReplyDeletehmm...looks like we might have a "questionable item of the week" in item #14970. I like to embrace my inner hippie every once in awhile, but the horizontal stripes don't look too flattering!
ReplyDeleteI sent back the cargo pants the side pocket is big and makes your hips look big ( unless you have small hips).
ReplyDeleteThat stripe tee is awful, the stripes are not flattering at all.
I've been so disappointed the last few times I've bought sweaters & tees from j.crew that I no longer buy those items from them. I think their quality has gone really, really downhill, which is unfortunate. I have some higher-priced items that are of good quality, but their basics are crap. I find I'm better off buying such at Target, where at least the prices reflect the item's value, as opposed to j.crew's overcharging.
ReplyDeletemarie,
ReplyDeleteI agree. The qualilty it going down. I received two defective items last week. Both sweaters had small holes in them.
I just ordered two sweaters from Land's End and they were cheaper and much nicer quality.
I really like JCrew a lot and wish they would get their act together!
V.
I ordered basic fitted tees (identical to Perfect Fit) from Lands End for only $10.00 each (sale) and the quality is very good, and they are not SHEER and come in great colors!
ReplyDeleteHas anyone purchased the Silk-Linen Retro V-Neck Cardigan (12528)? I'd love to see a review of it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWell, it beats the 'pants' sale!
ReplyDeleteIronically, my verification word for this post was 'pantous'.
Anon at 9:25, a rosette t for $125 on ebay?? That's absurd. I have one that i have never worn and debated selling but I figured I'd be lucky to get what I paid. No one is going to pay the ebay price - I kind of hope he ends up selling at a loss!
ReplyDeleteHoly batman! Someone is trying to unload the "mrs. obama" dazzling dots skirt on ebay for $399. What a greedy POS. (yeah, i know, it's a free market - but I hate greed).
ReplyDeleteOT: Does anyone own the stretch sateen pencil skirt (#12541)? I picked it up but am debating returning it because it seems like it will wrinkle very easily. If anyone has it and can provide some insight, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteFYI JCA's: I just got back from a trip to my B&M. I used my Red card and I was asked to provide ID with it! The SA wrote my name on the card with a sharpie and returned it to me. She said too many people were 'sharing' people's cards, so now they are putting names on them.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, my B&M experience was great. I was able to use the red card on a red phone order for a online only item and I picked up some good stuff in the store. LOVE 25% off!!
No freakin way, the rosette tees are $99 US, which is listed as approx $123 CDN. No matter, still to freakin much!
ReplyDeleteAnon 9:25
I managed to get a couple of rosette tees on FS this morning. I don't know if they will ship but I plan to offer them to JCAs in the weekly exchange, for cost + shipping. I am one of the past posters who does not like the tee but because I was up really early and there they were, I thought I'd try to buy a M and S in the pink. Knowing how much of my FS stuff gets canceled though, the odds aren't great that they will arrive. Here's hoping.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I won't take any info or emails about it until it is posted in the WE.
haha! my verification word was "cialis". honest to god.
ReplyDeleteFor an order placed last Thursday, I had a tracking number from Friday that said "billing information received" up until it showed up on my porch this afternoon. I think the updating for J Crew's UPS tracking #s is extremely delayed right now. Not sure why.
ReplyDeleteCrewbie: The same thing just happened to me. Not sure to how feel about it. However, the way it was handled it not make me feel like a valued customer.
ReplyDeleteAnon at 7pm: I wasn't sure how I felt about it either. I don't see any reason why someone else couldn't use my card. I guess I understand that they are trying to keep this offer 'exclusive' for their 'best customers', but then they should have put names on he cards when they mailed them.
ReplyDeleteAt least J.Crew is offering the tie-dye tee for $29.50 and not $42 or something ridiculous like that. Of course, once you factor in the $8.50 for shipping...
ReplyDeleteWhen my son was younger we tie-dyed some plain hanes underwear tees with his friends. I set it up in the back yard with a few different colors of dye, helped them with the elastics and voila. We had a blast, and then had the tees to wear the rest of the summer.
:D
It is more expensive to have names on the cards. Much easier and cheaper to put them on the paper mailer. But honestly, why be like that with the marker at the checkout? Goo Gone or Goof Off takes marker off anyway
ReplyDeleteI got a tracking # for my order on Friday and it appears to be making its way to my house....
ReplyDeleteQuality has definitely gone downhill. I just returned $627 worth of goods that didn't fit properly, didn't look the same as online or just didn't look good at all. I have never returned such a whopping load of stuff. I didn't even browse around the store either. Just took my credit card and went home.
ReplyDeleteI didn't find any sweaters that I wanted to purchase at the b&m today. I was not able to use the red card for 25% off on two crewcuts tees (not valid for phone orders - but we don't have a crewcuts in our state, so I thought it would be worth a shot), but they were 2 for 20% off anyway...and I got free shipping.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if it's my local store, but the mannequins were not that inspiring. Usually I'm drawn to *something* but today it was.."meh"..The SAs were very attentive and there was slightly more traffic than usual for a weekday.
I just bought the last v-neck sweater from my B&M. Unfortunately, it's a M and I'm a XS. Has anyone had luck shrinking jcrew sweaters in the washer/dryer? Or should I just return it? Thanks for any suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI have seen nicer and cheaper tye dye tees in TJ Maxx, and other stores. I do not like the permanent wrinkled effect, and the stripes appear to be in all the wrong places.
ReplyDeleteI have also returned so much stuff this Spring, the quality has really gone downhill.
anon 7:44: What is it made of? If it is cashmere or merino it will shrink if you hand wash it, they all do.
ReplyDeleteOh, the sweater is cotton.
ReplyDelete-7:44
You can shrink cotton by washing in hot water and drying on high in the dryer until it is completely dry. The process is hard on the fabric and it won't shrink two full sizes IME, but I've shrunken a few cotton items by a size in my day.
ReplyDelete^ Anon, thanks! I think I might be able to live with a Small :)
ReplyDelete7:44 you could also take it in on the side seams, or have a tailor do it, to bring it in a little further, but I would try to shrink it first. If it doesn't shrink enough you can use it as a beach cover-up, wear it with a shirt beneath or you can wear it as is for the slouchy boyfriend look.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, enjoy your sweater.
Anon 7:58
Crewbie:
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I experienced the same today. Previously, I was not asked to show ID but today they put my name on the back of the card. A bit queasy though.
Hi Alexis and all, I have purchased the waterfall cotton/cashmere cardigan in spicy olive (in promo for 59.50). I might get another one in navy because I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteFor whoever asked, I saw the cotton/cashmere bouquet in navy, putty and tea rose (not sure about the pewter) in store. No additional retail-only colors. Hope it helps.
Tonight at the B&M, I too was asked for my driver's license and then the CSR wrote my name on the red card. I don't care...just excited to have it!
ReplyDeleteHighly recommend the Printed coastal tunic item 14137. Fit is TTS and photo on web is close to accurate. Looks gorgeous on.
I will pass on this promo. I think I am all shopped out until the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteI'm hurting bad for some new sweaters. I just started a job and the office is pretty chilly. I have been checking Jcrew sweaters section over and over, but even this promo hasn't inspired me to get anything. Sigh. The only one that has caught my eye is $188 for a featherweight cashmere. Hoping a new crop of sweaters will come in and dazzle me.
ReplyDeleteHaha, "women's sweaters". Great . . .
ReplyDeleteAnony@5:35
ReplyDeleteYes, Land's End Tees are the best. Outstanding quality and fabric!
That is really tacky. Writing names on the card with a sharpie. I spent over $1500 a month at JCrew in 2008 and have cut that in 1/2 in 2009. I have not gotten either card so people that got them must spend a lot!!
ReplyDeleteWho cares if people share. (and no--no one has shared theirs with me--FYI)
I would just go home and put goo gone on it and share with a friend if I had one.
I bought the bouquet one (in putty) and decided to exchange to pinwheel cardigan (in putty, of course) since I found that I need some more details on the cardigan. Othwise, it reminds me of the merino lili cardigan (previous season) which I already have.
ReplyDeleteOMG, what a cute sweater!
ReplyDeleteI went in my local store Friday evening intending to get the bouquet cardigan in Pewter for the $49.50 sale price listed in this post plus use the red card on top. The only cardigan on sale was the waterfall and it was the same as the online sale price of $59.50. They didn't even have the bouquet cardigan on sale for the online price of $59.50 let alone what some have seen in stores for $49.50. Was disapointed. What is up with that? They prolly would have honored the online sale price of %59 but why was it $49.50 in other stores but not mind? Not even other colors were $49 or $59 in the bouquet cardi.
ReplyDelete
