J.Crew Offers Holiday Cheer With 20-30% Off {yey!}

A big "thanks!" to so many of you, including Ana, Lesley, Cass (in this post), Anon at 12:35 PM (in this post), Anon at 2:08 AM (in this post), Anon at 11:17 PM and Green_Dino (both in this post), who let us know about J.Crew's latest offer.

J.Crew is offering lots of savings (20% off on $150+; 25% off on $200+; or 30% off on $250+) with promo code TURKEY. This offer expires 11/29/08. This is a great promotion and I am excited to see it! :)

J.Crew also updated its sale section to "Holiday Sale". I am thrilled that it is currently not "final sale". :)

Are you planning to take advantage of J.Crew's latest offer? If so, what items are you planning to get? :)

  1. Great to see a promotion for the Thanksgiving Holiday! :)

  2. Good morning FFM! I agree with you that it is wonderful to see this promotion. It is a great incentive to get shoppers to spend. :)

    ReplyDelete
  3. Just an fyi...some of the prices are lower on an item than is displayed. After you select an item to view in its own window, the lower price is displayed. What a pleasant surprise. :)

  4. There are even more markdowns this morning along with the turkey code. Cashmere tees are $99.00, sleepwear markdown more.

Free ship code no minimum is no longer working.

  5. A coat I ordered last week and has not arrived has dropped in price by $60.00, not including the % off sale! Awesome. The other awesome fact is I have not received the coat yet! They said it is waiting for a truck and they don't have a tracking # or anything. Reminds me of the summertime issues everyone was experiencing. :)

  6. wow, the outerwear section is amazing. im thinking either the marie coat or the lille coat...does anyone have either?

the lille coat says that its warm enough for winter. i have the peacoat(ivory), harriet(camel), madeline(poppy), felicia(pink) but none of them are really warm enough for this new england weather...but the marie looks so pretty...the lille coat, majestic purple looks unique...but considering that I have a lot of fun coats, i might just go for black...any thoughts please?!

    thanks!

  7. I just bought the Lulu Peep Toes in Burnt Sienna, a Madeline Double-Cloth coat with Thinsulate and two Francie skirts (in black and white). I still hate paying the $18.50 in shipping, but what can you do. The coat still ended up being cheaper than the non-thinsulate version I bought at the B&M last week (that one's going back).

    ReplyDelete
  8. I ordered the Marie coat but it's sitting in the warehouse awaiting a truck...ordered it last Tuesday
    :(

  9. Great promo, but I won't be ordering, I have tons from this fall and now I need to focus on buying for others. But I did order two gifts yesterday with the extra20 code.

Hope the rest of you score some great deals.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Sometimes when an order is not filled for awhile it is because the inventory is low, and by the time they got to your order there were not any left and they are waiting for a return before they cancel the order.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I bought a couple of men's sweaters for presents and I got the purple Trixie heels for myself for only $98!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Does anyone know if the cashmere nola sweater is tts? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Nice promo but I won't be using it....the sales just keep getting a bit better and the best is yet to come....just mark my words and hold out a bit longer everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  14. FYI- Crystal-button bird's-eye cardigan 19.99 when you click on it!

    ReplyDelete
  15. And it is also SOLD OUT

    ReplyDelete
  16. A few items that aren't selling are lower in price but just a few and the section has not been updated with any new items. BUT can you imagine holding out and waiting...the deals will be better....I am waiting.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Anony@8:07

Same thing happened to me last month with a sweater. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH LOW INVENTORY. There were close to 100 of my item in stock when I ordered it. It is just JCRew's constinued screwups....I had no tracking with mine but it showed up after a week or so.....

    ReplyDelete
  18. the sales are getting better, but this is a great deal if you want to get something new for 30% off

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm thrilled for this promotion bt I ordered two of the dream long cardigans last night at 59.99 with 20% off and now they're 29.99. What do we think the chances of me calling or emailing and getting the lower price? I'm so bummed. I was really indecisive about placing the order but I finally did it around 10pm last night and now I wish I hadn't!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Also noticed Hammered Silk tanks are further marked down to $29.99. It's funny how even though I wasn't really impressed by the latest catalog I was easily able to place an order just now. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. What is frusterating is I used to by almost all of my items at full price... because I knew if I didn't my size would be gone. If an item I ordered made it to sale, it didn't bother me as it was most likely gone in the size I wanted and/or color. Now I am being trained to not buy something unless it is a great deal, because it seems like EVERYTHING is going to super low sale. I won't buy something now at full price because I'll be upset that it's half off or more in a week or two. So JCrew should do something about their inventory levels, etc, if they are worried about the company's brand image.

    ReplyDelete
  22. A LOT of the prices are lower once you click on them: Jackie cardigans (some colors), bathing suits, hammered silk tanks (all colors), and many other shirts and sweaters. They go from $49 or $59 to $29 when you click on them.

I just bought 2 hammered silk tanks in peacock and black, 2 cuffed chinos, a purple Jackie, 1 black swim suit, 2 Mendocino jackets, a navy swiss dot blouse, and 2 silk jersey pleated tops all for $202 shipping included.

There are some great deals to be had with the sale and the TURKEY code! Thanks for posting this info, now I can only hope that I actually get my order...

    ReplyDelete
  23. I ordered the Glenbrae boots (flat ones), boot cut cords and some sweaters. Thanks JCrew!! I think this is a pretty awesome sale if you have a big order. I can't wait to get my boots!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I bought the dream v neck sweater and got it yesterday and for $59.99 it is a itchy sweater. It will be returned today!

    ReplyDelete
  25. As far as outerwear goes, I liked the Carrie coat and it was marked down to $195. I was waiting for it to go lower than that and then today with the turkey coupon, the marked down price is back up to $275. BOOO! :(

    ReplyDelete
  26. I wish they could combine shipping for people who find more things they'd like to buy after the fact - just made my second purchase in two hours' time - Cashmere crewneck tee in Navy for $69.30, High-heel flare jean in clean indigo wash and in indigo wash - $54.60 each, and the Handknit cable popover in Camel that I've been eye-ing ever since it hit the website - $90.99. Plus the $18.50 shipping (oy!)

  27. How do tissue tnecks run? Thanks!

  28. OMG! I totally splurged:
got peacoat in pumpkin ( with thinsulate), Lille in ivory, melanie sweater in white, Annette blouse in stone and bird's eye cardigan in Silver!! I am so bad, my DH is soooo killing me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I picked up the Maggie in grey. I think I got the last one in my size, so hopefully, I get it.

    ReplyDelete
  30. FYI, it turns out one of my local stores is doing 40% off outerwear, so except for the peacoat, lille, and marie which are marked down ridiculously, the prices in the stores will be MUCH better! i wonder what other promotions they will have vs. the turkey one online!

    ReplyDelete

  32. I ordered the Maggie in the gray at 5 this morning.

I really wanted this jacket, but was not excited about the other colors.

I am still contemplating the Greta coat in black. I have and love the bright persimmon.

    ReplyDelete
  33. TTN thanks slastena-if wear a 2 in most blouses should i get xs or sm-do they shrink?

    ReplyDelete
  34. has anyone tried on the golden roses pencil skirt-TTS? comments?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Has anyone tried the store only Ellen Peacoat (it is the Lucinda made out of an all-wool fabric)? I bought the charcoal in a 4, but decided it was far too boxy. I went back for a 2, but it was too short in the sleeves, so I just returned it. I am wondering if the Lucinda has the same boxy fit. It looks more fitted online than the jacket in store did on me.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Any comments on the Blair 120's dress?

How does it fir in the shoulders and waist? TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  37. anon 9:04 - That is what a Manager told me so maybe you should call him and discuss it.

    ReplyDelete
  38. boston_brit- I hope you can get a price adjustment on the dream long cardigan.

Thanks for your post, I quickly added two to my huge (for me) order and it bumped me up to 30% off. They came to only $21.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I was wondering what the prices were for the matchstick cords in the regular colors that are marked
at $59.50 online- in stores? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow, this is a really good sale!

I wish the quinn camis would hurry up and go on sale...I have no doubt that they will, but they're certainly taking their time about it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  41. can someone please tell me what the price of the felicia coat is in store? tia!
sucks being in canada with no jcrew stores :(

    ReplyDelete
  42. As long as you items--Dream sweaters have not shipped you should be able to get the price adjustment....call or email ASAP. I have better luck with email.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My Melanie was itchy. First merino piece from JCrew that was ever itchy. It is going back.

    Cheap wool=itchy

    ReplyDelete
  44. Does anyone know if the sale is final sale? I know in the past prices ending in 99 are final sale, but I don't see that mentioned on the website...thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I just ordered the Phoebe metallic jacket, the golden roses skirt and the Quinn cami. Thanks for posting the discount!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anon @11:03: The store director at my B&M said the outerwear is 40% off of the regular price.

    ReplyDelete
  47. sorry to be negative but don't get your hopes up on some of these bargain price items.....

already some reports online this a.m. that there are delays now on last weeks orders. As they season continues...look for more problems from JCrew shipping to crop up...remember they themselves have reported that the website and shipping are not running smoothly and problems are expected through early 2009

    ReplyDelete
  48. I called to get a price adjustment on the solid annette blouse that i bought on 11/21 for $31.99, now it's on sale for $19.99 and hasn't even shipped yet (but that's another story). I was successful but they gave me the line "one time courtesy". So I got a refund of $12.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Just a heads up the Hammered silk tanks have a side zipper that will poke you in the arm pit...same design as the watercolor foral tank...this was discussed early on this blog this summer. Size down if you really want it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I have clicked on 10 items...all are sold out...what good is this sale???

    ReplyDelete
  51. OK. I just ordered some Dream Sweater...are they really itchy. I am worried
    :(

    ReplyDelete
  52. Anon at 11:08am:
It's not final sale - everything is able to be returned.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Annette blouse is GORGEOUS on and IRL-I have it and it is now $14 freakin .99!! LOL! Go get it ladies!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Is the discount working on sale (.99) items? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  55. suilove, are you going to the boston area malls today? Let me know what kind of deals you find! I went to NS yesterday to return a couple coats (finally decided on the lady day in chocolate), and the sale section didn't have anything I was looking for..Also no promos on anything Im looking at (some sweaters).

Ill post a review of my Wrentham outlet trip tonight, if anyone's interested : ) Going to hit JC, BR, Gap, and a couple shoe stores, as long as the weather here doesn't get worse!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Kendra - everything in the order I placed this morning was on sale (ending in .99) and I had no trouble with the discount!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I got the Victoria ruffle blouse in camel, some cords, the lady day coat in dark poppy, maggie in black, and the bird's eye cardigan because it was so cheap! Great deals!

    ReplyDelete
  58. More questions: Has anyone tried placing an order with TURKEY at a B&M? Wondering if we could get free shipping as well this way?

I talked to a SA on the phone this AM and she said that sale items, even if called in from the red phone, weren't eligible for free shipping! What do you think of this?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I need to take a serious J. Crew vacation now - I have spent too much! I'll have to ban myself from this blog because it always makes me spend more ;)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Argyle: I agree. After my outlet trip, black friday (and perhaps a TURKEY order), I am *done* until after Christmas (unless a most wanted item goes on major sale)..Ahh I have such weak impulse control!

I am in school, as well as working, and Ive been spending all my free time stalking items and following this blog instead of doing my work ; )

    ReplyDelete
  61. Kit's mommy could you please comment on the fit of the Greta? I keep thinking about it but I'm concerned about the buttons ending so high and the coat flapping open and being drafty. Also, I've found their coats to run large, do you think this is the case with the Greta? And finally, how do you think it would look on someone with a bust? Thank you!!

Also FYI for Boston ladies, I went to the Copley store last night and the sale section was not impressive.

    ReplyDelete
  62. hi everyone - does anyone have fit advice on the melanie cardi? Is it running large like the tartine did?

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Alexis, you forgot to thank Leigh of jcrewaholics.com for posting this first. I think credit should be given when credit is deserved...

    ReplyDelete
  64. Sherry- for posting what?

    ReplyDelete
  65. Sherry- do you seriously want to have a repeat of yesterday? Alexis posted TURKEY this morning- AFTER it was posted on the website last night (I was up trying for the Saks sale :p) and after other Aficionadas had posted about it on this blog. It's not like Leigh was the "creator" of this code- it is posted for all to see on jcrew.com!

    ReplyDelete
  66. kendra,

im about to head out for a day of b&ms in the area...you said you went to ns yesterday, and didn't see much? do you remember if you saw any new items in the sale section as well as any cashmere promos? i know that there isn't a huge selection in tissue tnecks in terms of colors or sizes so if the sale section isn't too great, im thinking about heading to cambridgeside first. thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Does anyone know how the Lille coat fits? It says "generous fit" so I'm thinking it runs large? Any help would be appreciated. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Suilove,

for the sale section: It was 50% off clearance. There were more colored cords (bootcut and matchstick), priced around 30$ I believe..also more sequined henleys, a few button ups, a couple cambridge cables onley in honey glaze and lilac, some short jackets (blazer types), a few ivory colored peacoats, and some mixed suit bottoms..also cuffed chinos and trouser cords..kate wool dresses...i am blanking on anything else. also headbands, cheap bangles in the jewlery area (under $10).

I cant say on the cashmere promos; I would call--the cambridge cables were on a 60$ promo as well..

    HTH!

  69. By "on the website" I mean on jcrew.com- NOT on jcrewaholics.com.

  70. Just recvd my heather plum cashmere cardi ~ it is TDF!! Love, love, love it ~ so soft, colour beautious ~ thinking of new combos to wear it w/.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Is anyone between sizes on this years bootcut cords? Did the next size down fit you?

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm just saying that jcrewaholics gave us the first heads up...is that so wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Alexis does not need to thank Leigh. That's just really silly to even consider or mention it. Does anyone really care that Leigh posted it yesterday? It's not like it even worked before today, so it really didn't make a difference that she had it on her blog early anyways.

    ReplyDelete
  74. i went to my B&M last night and the 20% was final sale. i didn't find anything for myself and i wasn't going to buy any presents since it was FS.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Kendra or Suilove:
Kendra stated she saw bootcut cords for $30.00 in the b&M. Which store would that be?

I'm asking because I've been waiting for bootcut cords to come down and my local store has them same price as website, as of today.

    Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  76. kitsmommy: I second a commenter earlier, I would love to hear a review about the Greta coat as well! Thanks. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. TRP:
The Nola fits TTS but with a more defined waist than other JCrew cashmere this season. If you click on the heather graphite color swatch you will be able to see more clearly. hth

    ReplyDelete
  78. Although it is cool that she told us first...save me personally some money. :P So, in that case, thanks Leigh, you rock!

    ReplyDelete
  79. anon 12:26 : She was just stating her opinion why slam her for it.

  80. Alot of these thin t's, like the perfect-fit mandarin henley, are great for wearing under the fitted long sleeved dream sweater(s) that some people find itchy.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Size down one or two sizes on the lille. Runs very big.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Alexis is definitely going to need a future post entitled "how much did I blow @ the JCrew turkey sale". gobble gobble

    ReplyDelete
  83. boston_brit - same thing happened to me. I made a huge order last night when the "TURKEY" promo appeared. 4 of the items dropped significantly in price (including the hammered silk tank). I emailed CS to see if they would adjust the price. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Has anyone tried on the cashmere Eva sweater? I am wondering how it fits and how it runs, size-wise...

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  85. thanks for the tip kendra, i'll still check it out to see if they have any new stuff. thanks!

    also bootcut cord,

its the northshore mall store in peabody, ma
but it's not all colors, i got cement, chocolate, and acorn at full price...the sale is just for the bright colors, sweet potato, the golden yellow etc for the bootcut cord..the trousers tho they had several darker colors including the cement color so you might want to just call and check. its my fav B&M and they're usually really nice about everything. good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  86. This continual markdown thing is driving me nuts. But I'm glad to see the prices drop. I ordered a bunch of sale stuff before the latest promotion and now I'm "returning" it all so I can order it again and get a better price. Too bad J.Crew doesn't get within and offer price adjustments to sale goods. They would save themselves a lot of labor and restocking costs.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Suilove: thank you very much for responding! I pass on the sale colors and will settle for the current price w/30% off.

    ReplyDelete
  88. If you are going to a B&M today, would you please report if there is an additional percentage discount on markdowns? I'm specifically interested in Chicago-area, but am guessing some sort of discount would be nationwide . . .
    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Got great prices on swimwear -- $6.99 each piece!! If you need a new swimsuit for a holiday vacation or just to stock up, now is the time. It's especially great because it isn't final sale in case the fit is wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Well, I just placed the largest order EVER. I am now officially cut off! I did get a few Christmas gifts (including the tartine cardigans for my sisters!) so I suppose it wasn't completely selfish.

I'm especially excited for the Issy sweater jacket!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Sherry, I mean Leigh, why don't you just thank her or you yourself?

    ReplyDelete
  92. This post is for those who asked for a review of the Greta.

The double cloth has a great drape for this particular coat as the coat hangs really well and the fabric is soft enough that the back pleat lies flat (the back looks better IRL than on the model). I do not think it will blow open easily as it does overlap generously.

The cut of this coat is beautiful and very retro. I personally feel that it is cut TTS. It is supposed to be swingy. If you want your coat fitted, I would recommend the Lady Coat or Madeline over this one.

I am 122# and 5'4" and I ordered a 4. I do only wear a 30B bra, so I am not sure how this would fit someone busty. Also, I noticed that the coat looks a little too short on the model in both the body and sleeves, but it is a great length on me and the sleeves fit just right.

I originally ordered this coat in the persimmon and the violet. The violet looked different IRL than online. I was a beautiful color, but was far to purple for my taste. On the other hand, I adore the persimmon and love wearing it with browns and denim.

    HTH

  93. Stamford store grand openning today!! Yahoo!!!

    ReplyDelete
  94. One other thought on the Greta. The buttons are hollow and feel really weird to me. They don't weigh the front of the coat down which is a good thing, but they feel really tinny and cheap. I love the way they look, but I mentioned this because I know at least one other person who posts here indicated that they were surprised by the buttons.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Anonymous 1:24 ... True that

We should be THANKING Alexis (Love You & this site, Alexis), not chastising her for not "Thanking" Leigh for a web posting on another site.

For Pete's Sake, Alexis' positive attitude shines through in her postings. She is a doll and I have a lot of respect for her.

My thin-skinned self would have been in the fetal position bawling after reading some of the nasty things people say to her. LAY OFF OR LEAVE.

  96. Kater:

I found that the Melanie was TTS or even a bit small, especially if you compare it to the tartine. I got the XS in Melanie and it was borderline too small (short) on me. I'm 5'5". The tartine was right on.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Kendra: Def want to hear about your outlet trip.

Greta questions: thanks for your review, Kitsmommy. Has anyone busty (Dcup ish) tried this on? I am dying to order one but afraid a curvacious figure might just look fat/pregnant in this coat. I would love to be disproven!!

  100. I'd really appreciate any info on the flat Glenbrae boots. Are they comfortable, and is there enough room to tuck in a pair of jeans? Thank you!!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Can anyone tell me if a 6p pants is comparable in the waist to a regular. I usually go between a 6 and an 8. I have found that in most jcrew skirts I wear a 6. I need petite pants, however, and some brands have a slightly smaller waist in petite sizes. I have never purchased pants from JCrew. I am planning on ordering the university wool pant, favorite fit and am hoping to get the size right the first time! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Anony @2:14: If you click on the [BOOT SIZES] type on the item page, they list the calf circumference of the boot. HTH. I was wondering the same thing before I placed an order.

By the way, "better hurry" and order. Some of the Glenbrae flat leather boots are waitlised until December and January.

    ReplyDelete
  103. OT, but has anyone seen or does anyone own the Fontaine dress? It's part of the collection. I love it, but can't tell if it's one of those items that is disappointing in person.

    Jen

    ReplyDelete
  104. I was also wondering about the Glenbrae boots.

Lea cardi has long arms and a snug body, but I still wouldn't size up, I would just cuff the sleeves. It is very pretty! I have it in Tangerine.

Tissue turtlenecks fit TTS. I have several of these. I wear a 0/XS in J Crew tops and I wear an XS in these as well. I love the way the look under cardigans and blazers!

Melanie cardi. I had to size up on this. Tried the XS and it was snug so I ordered the Small and it felt much better.

Thanks for the info on the Greta. I have been eyeing this coat since it came out! :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. So sorry for this OT-but is anyone else having problems getting into Hotmail? Thank you for your help!!

  106. The Ann Arbor store went to extra 30% off today. It was so funny, I looked at the website before I went today, and saw some newer items added to the sale section. Then at the B&M when I was at the register (nothing too interesting, just a 19.99 men's oxford for a gift and the tissue hoodie as a treat for myself) there was a big rolling cart full of folded items. I asked if they were getting marked down and the SA said, no, they were new and just going on the floor. The funny part was that the new to store items were what I'd just seem new to the sale site, like a few of the ringspun T's and the cute smocked front cami. Plus, some of the instore markdowns weren't as good as online, like the satin rose belts were 24.99. However, they still had a few of the Stephanie dresses at 19.99. Shopping at J. Crew is such a crapshoot. I noticed that the Lille coat is 129.99, I just got it for 142 after discount, but thankfully I am not mad this time since my size in black sold out before this latest price cut. I'm only mildly tempted to shop with the TURKEY code since a coat was what I really wanted, and I love the one I got. I agree with other posters, go a size down if you want a truer fit. Mine's pretty biggish in the body, but I like having lots of room to layer with a more casual coat.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I have the Italian Houndstooth Greta in my cart right now, but am waiting on a sizing review :) I am 110lbs and a 34D and would HATE to purchase this and end up looking like a balloon! Any info on sizing would be truly appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  108. sooner_girl - lea cardigan fits TTS. i usually take a medium in tops and that's what i ordered. it's slightly cropped, but not too much. hit right at the top of my hip and falls right over the top of my pants. i personally love it.

my question - anyone have the dream tie neck cardi? is the tie too much around the neck?

    ReplyDelete
  109. Anon @2:37: I can access my Hotmail account. :)

  110. Yes, I am in the same boat with the GRETA! Any DCup or higher ladies tried this?

I called CS and got a guy rep (which was pretty funny when I explained my situation), but he went and found a fairly 'blessed' (his words, hilarious) female coworker who tried it on and they both agreed it was pretty tent-like....

    ReplyDelete
  111. FFM-Thank you re Hotmail!!

  112. smartblonde- That is so unfortunate- and exactly what I was afraid of :( Seems like this coat may have the same issue for me as other J.Crew items like the Katie sweater- I put them on and they completely flair out!

I guess being "fairly blessed" does not bode well for A-line coats and sweaters :(

I still have hope for the Greta, though. Depending on the thickness of the fabric and the drape, it could work for us.

  115. I think someone else might have mentioned this already, but it's worth reiterating:

I placed an order with TURKEY/30% off last night. This morning, the prices on half the items in my order dropped, some very drastically. Since nothing had been shipped, I called J.crew and asked that they honor the price adjustment on the new order. (otherwise, I probably would have just returned/repurchased--the price difference was close to $100). The SA was extremely courteous and helpful. Now I'm not sure if he would have been willing to apply the TURKEY code retroactively (the fine print specifies that it can't be done), but if your items have dropped in price very recently after you placed an order, it's worth giving them a call to see if they're honor the lower price.

Good luck! (for anyone who's curious, I bought myself the Isabel, Harlow, and Harlow snowleopard blouses).

    ReplyDelete
  116. FYI: I accidentally got locked out of my account since I forgot my password -(Duh me!)

And when I called to unlocked the SA just asked me to place the order over the phone and offered free shipping since I couldn't combine my Ed discount. Just an FYI. I didn't expect that to happen, but it was nice that it did.

  118. Re Greta:

At 5'4," 122, I wear a 2-4 or xs-s in tops and a 4-6 in bottoms. I have a small frame and somewhat atletic body, but am defitely pear-shaped. This jacket highlights the fact that I am very small on top and swings right over my larger bottom, so it balances out my body nicely.

Honestly, if you are busty and undecided on this coat, I would probably say you can find something more flattering. I think the peter pan collar, seaming at the bust, buttons on the chest, emphasize the chest. The overall swingy shape, and lack of detail on the bottom (in seam pockets!) downplay the hips. I need these features but someone with a whatever-D chest probably does not.

It sucks when something you really want just doesn't work, but that is why they make different styles. I just returned a long store-only peacoat similar to the Lucinda because it made me look boxy and the slighly flared sleeves pulled the eye right down to my disproportionally wide hips, so that my whole body looked very square. The rounded patch pockets on the thighs also did no favors for me. This lovely coat would probably have been very flattering on someone better endowed up top and slimmer hipped than I.

I am 5'4", 105, 32B, and an XS hits me right below the waist at the high hip. The sleve length is fine, but this sweater is quite cropped. The material is lovely, very soft, but the sweater is quite short in the torso.

  122. Has anyone else noticed this trend with jcrew--that prices fluctuate quite a bit on their sale site for the same exact item? I bought a few items online when they were offering an additional 20 percent off. A few days later, I noticed that quite a few of the things I bought were CHEAPER, even after the additional 20 percent off. So for example, I bought my daughter a crewcuts t-shirt that after taking the 20 percent off was $18. It's now on the site for $16.99. It sort of feels like the 20 percent off was just a tease to make customers think they were getting an additional break with the code.

  123. Okay I promised myself after I shopped last week's B&M 20% off sale items I would stop....but I just splurged..AGAIN!! Ugh this is madness and I need to start paying off my bill not charging more! What I bought though I thought was soo worth it. 2 solid Annette blouses - on recommendation of others on this blog (this blog makes me buy MORE I swear!!!) one in honey glaze, one in weathered stone. and the grand prize - the dark mushroom odile bag! I can't wait to see this in person, I just hope it actually ships. I think it's a very classy looking bag with a classic shape, and for $150 from $350 I think it's definitely worth it! Does anyone else have this bag? Thoughts??

  128. I cannot believe I just put another order through! Darn J. Crew, sucking me in again. I had to get that Jungle Green cashmere for my husband, so to get the best price OF COURSE I had to get my basket to $250. So, I filled up on merino- a black turtleneck, black button cuff cardi, Then a long dream cardi, a cute cotton shirt, a satin roses belt, a cotton cashmere men's v-neck for a gift, and a crewcuts item or two for my daughter. I am beginning to think that I have a problem. No, I know I have a problem. Seriously, this is the LAST batch of things for myself until after Christmas sales.

Our policy is that we can only do price adjustments within seven days

We are unable at this time to apply the price adjustment because your

  131. Hey Anon at 1:20,

I went to the Chicago North Ave store today and they were having additional 30% off sale. Its final sale though. I got the sketchbook belle skirt (they had quite a few of these left), it was 39.99. After the additional % off and my student discount it came to 23! Crazy I know. I also got the Merino Lili ruffle cardigan for 35 after all the discounts, and a feather headband (which is super cute!) for like 8.50 because they couldn't find the real price of it. All in all, super awesome deals. Except of course...I need to be buying for family and friends, but I couldn't help myself.

  135. Hopefully I'm not repeating - but for those in the East Bay, the Pleasanton store is having 50% off sale items and Walunt Creek is having 30% off. I got a pink felicia for $100 at the Pleasanton store! They are pretty well stocked ... also a sketchbook roses skirt for $20. They had two sparkle tweed skirts in smaller sizes. White pea coats on sale for $90 (discount inc). Lots of Pennys's black, white, pink and yellow for about $80. As others have mentioned though, they are brining out some of the "new" items that are already on sale on the site. Got a pair of jeans for my hubby for $20. Dont know if they will honor the discount over the phone, but it might be worth a try if you are looking for any of these things.

  136. Per usual, I have a ton of great sale stuff in my shopping cart, but my credit limits will probably beat out my lack of willpower. Perhaps just the Isabella flats, the cable ballet slippers and the bubble necklace. Maybe ...

    ReplyDelete
  137. hello all! fyi, if you're looking to order several items because of the sale, you might be better off doing it on the phone. my shopping cart has spontaneously zeroed itself 6 times between last night and this evening. so everytime i put a bunch of things in, after a short while, even as i am adding more, all the things i put into the cart disappear! a couple of times i've gotten site down, or site error messages before the items disappear, at other times there is no warning. after countless hours redoing the cart over and over, i finally just called j crew only to be told "we're not aware of any problems on our site. we're not saying we're not having any issues, but we're just not aware of any." so disappointing.

perhaps it's only happening for large orders because so many of you here seemed to have ordered a few items successfully.

anyways, if i really want to buy all the many things i had lined up, i'd likely have to make a note of each item on word or excel, and then call them all in at this point. seems like another big time investment.

  142. Hi JCAs,
I hit my B&M today to do some returns and it is 30% sale items (final sale). They had some soho dresses (black and gray), lots of minis (geometric tweed, felted wool, and a cute plaid-ish one with purple in it), lots of berry astrids, taffeta a-lines (brown and pink).

Sweaters were 20% off (excl cashmere) and full-price outerwear was 40% off.

I also saw some peep-toe maryjanes in graphite (I think someone was looking for these?). They had 7.5, 8.5 and 9. They also had one pair of Juliet safaris in size 7. Lots of flats and mocs too.

Store was San Diego, CA. HTH!

  143. Hi all,

Ok,ok,ok.... I'll admit it. I am an extremely weak-willed person when it comes to JCrew. Most esp. when they offer such irresistible clothes / prices!

So, last week I broke down % bought a Maggie (well two really - a grey & camel - but I'm only keeping one), along with a Jackie in purple & a slim shirt in bright blue. Of course, now the Jackie is much cheaper & the Maggies are on sale as well. ***SIGH*** However, they are no longer available in those colours. So I guess it was a good call on my part.

I went ahead & placed another order for the Jackie & included a pair of v-neck tees (peacock & dark poppy) for the 2 for $40 price-break. Then I started thinking what a great deal the Turkey code offered... So I checked on the grey herringbone skirt I'd been pining over for ages. It's on sale as well, along with the peony cashmere tee I thought would match nicely.

Of course, now I'm reeeeaaaly close to the %30 option, so I guess I'm being frugal by including the dark chestnut jacket, right? After all, it would go perfectly with everything else :} After discount & etc. I am now eagerly awaiting 6 new items for less than what the jacket would have cost at FP. I'm going to need to exercise some serious self-control from now on. It's just so very tempting!

MUST-STAY-AWAY from B&M this weekend.... Somehow!

Oh, That reminds me. I spoke w. my very favourite SA this weekend. We swapped thanksgiving stories & such. I mentioned that I had planned on staying away from the mall this week because "Black Friday" can be sooo hectic. He said that they call it "Green Friday" at JC because they carry a lot more items in green than black. Rather sweet, no?

    We also spoke about how the November catalogue had some ungainly photos with questionable styling. He said that they have been instructed to mix the men's clothing with the women's on a few displays for the coming cycle. My SA has a theory. Apparently, JC had a blouse earlier this season called "His Favourite Shirt" that sold surprisingly well. Oddly enough, despite a lot of feminine details - people still thought of it as a men's item. Also, there is a school of thought that believes there is a connection between a poor economy & folks buying in other departments. After all, if it fits, who cares if it came from the men's dept or crewcuts? It never seems to work that way for me... But if you can look fabulous & save a few $$$, my compliments. I guess it just gives you that much more to play with in your closet :}

    As it is, I'll be out there checking my post for the next few days. Can't wait to see my lovely new things :}

Thanks again Alexis & all the fabulous aficionada's for the help.

  144. I braved a local B&M with my kids and came out rewarded. The ivory puffer vest that I had been eyeing was in stock in my size. But when I went to the register to ring it up, it rang up $88. I asked the SA to check online, as it was $69.99 and she said, "Only certain colors are...", I asked her to call in and she appeared shocked that all colors had gone on sale. Since they were honoring the 30% outerwear sale, I got my puffer for $48.99 :)

    ReplyDelete
  145. Audball, great to hear that you were able to get that great deal. Are the J.Crew puffers bulky? Or, can you wear them without looking like you've gained 10 pounds? Do they run true to size? I'm considering picking up the ivory, but haven't seen it in person?

  146. Anyone have the small oslo bag? $139 seems like a great price.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Is anyone else getting duplicate emails from J.Crew about the 30% off promotion? Kind of annoying.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Dawn, I think the puffer vests run TTS. I don't think they're unnecessarily bulky or puffy - fluffy enough to be warm, but not big enough to look like you've packed on the pounds. Personally, I think they're great!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Dawn: I find that they run true to size, but I'm also a bit chesty ;). My DH says that he thinks I look puffy, but I think with the drawstring pullcord at the waist, I certainly look less like the Michelin Man than in my Hanna Andersson puffer vest. Pretty much any down/feather vest I have tried on makes me look puffy.

For a less puffy alternative, you may want to check out Target's Mossimo line (I know, I know, JCrew fans, but at $17.99 it's hard to resist - and it does make one look good) or the LLBean microsuede down vest!

  156. Spening way too much money...

To the addicts in LA area - the Brea store has a bunch of stuff in, a lot of collection items like the sparkle tweed skirt, the pembroke dress in keylime, a few hedren merino jackets with sequin/calf hair collars. I was able to snatch a denim straight skirt (94850) yesterday.

The El Segundo store has the zoey lame tank, the vita cami, the hammer silk tank, university pants on sale.

BTW, J Crew will charge shipping on non-regular priced items (i.e. promotion or sales) even if you order from the red phone. I wish they will go to the model that other online retailers do - flat rate $7 or something like that. It's an insult to injury to charge for shipping, and wait 2 weeks for merchandise to arrive.

  169. Hi all,

Re Heather Majestic Purple. If y'all are still interested in the colour... I'd like to point out that FFM has a great set w. the purple Madeline on her link. There's one shot with the coat in an outfit & the other places the coat next to complimentary colours.

I think that the Lady Day may be a shade or two paler than the Madeline. I can't say for certain. However, I have seen the purple Lille IRL. I would say that the colour on the site is pretty similar. It's a dark blue w. purple undertones -- similar to an iris bloom.

    HTH,

  170. By reading this blog, I've learned that the deals in the BM stores can be much better than anything online. In the past, I thought it was the other way around. Well, now I have learned. I just ordered the long puffer jacket and three pairs of knee socks (it's awfully cold in Northern Illinois if you are a small woman like me). The total was $212 and some change WITH tax and shipping. The coat is $235 in the store before tax. So it was better for me to order online in this case simply because that was the only way I could get a mark down on this popular coat. And I just love the fact that the coat has pockets lined in something warm and fuzzy -- maybe brushed flannel? Stewart

  175. I have the Marie coat in majestic purple. The colour is definitely more of a bluish purple, comparable to the Jackie twinset and kelly blouse in the same colour. I love the colour and the double-knit fabric, which has a bit of stretch and is very comfortable. The fabric also retains a fresh look for years.

This coat is generously cut IMO. The website copy says it has a slight cocoon shape, which is a major design element of the coat. The cocoon shape is not really evident on the model in the photographs online or in catalogues but it is evident as soon as you put it on. If you are pear-shaped, this is not a good coat for you. It is designed for people who are straight or apple-shaped as there is room in the middle and it tapers in at the bottom. Pear shapes will have too much room around the waist and it won't be as flattering as a cinched-waist coat like the Lady Day or Madeleine, any style with a belt. There is no inside pocket in this coat either, it is pretty basic in design.

The coat is a little longer than it looks on the model as well. I am 5'7" with long legs and it falls to the lower part of my thigh. Overall, the coat is not crisply tailored, it is a relaxed, casual coat. The raglan sleeves and seaming darts give it ease and comfort. The sleeves are roomy as one would expect in a more relaxed garment. I ordered my regular size and I can layer a sweater, suit jacket or puffer vest underneath. I didn't want to go down a size as I have several very fitted coats and I wanted one that allows me layering options for cold weather and is more casual for a change from my work life, which is all business suits. If you want it to be more fitted, a smaller size may be your best bet.

If you have specific questions about the Marie coat that I haven't addressed, I would be happy to answer them.

    ReplyDelete
  176. Thank you for your review of the Marie coat! It's extremely helpful.
