J.Crew Stores To Receive New Merchandise {yey!}

A big "thanks!" to Ameilia and an anonymous member of this blog who let us know that J.Crew stores are expected to receive shipments of "new arrivals" this week. Some stores are expected to receive them today (Tuesday), while others are going to get them on Wednesday. The new arrivals should hopefully be on the shelves in all stores by this Friday. {yey!}

As much as I really want to go shopping at J.Crew this Friday, I think I will sit this one out. I just don't think I can deal with the traffic- both vehicle traffic (on the road) and foot traffic (in the stores). ;)

Do you plan on visiting J.Crew this week to see the new arrivals? Do you think you will go this Friday, to take advantage of any "Black Friday Bargains"? :)

  1. I think I will sit it out as well, not going to do the black friday thing due to the crowds, etc. Got the holiday catelog ~ not exciting, IMO. No gift card in there either!

  2. I'm working on Friday, but I will brave it after work.

  3. I don't think I'll go. I am still preparing myself for a trip to an outlet store :)

    Thanks for letting us know about new arrivals!

  4. I always sit out during Black Friday and the weekend after- the crowds just make me cranky. :/

  5. FYI, the TURKEY code is working now. I got 30% off my order of $250+. Works on makrdowns and full priced items.

  6. I will definitely not be out there on Black Friday, but I'd like to see what is new. :) From what it sounds like, though, there's not a lot of new items in the roll-out?

  7. seriously, a 30% off code that's working on all the things I just bought at 20% off?! GRRR.

  8. (anon@1:28 here) just checked and the code does not appear to work on items ending in .99, but does work on the promotionally reduced items.

  9. Two of the items I purchased ended in .99 and it still applied the 30% off.

  10. I bought 4 items, all of the ending in .99, and all from the sale section. I had no trouble applying the 30% off (over $250).

  11. I placed two big orders this weekend. I won't be using this coupon online. Plus, everything I ordered is now out of stock so I feel good that I got what I wanted for a farily good price.

    The sale section is starting to look stale again.

    There is only one item that I want and it need to go down more in price for me to even consider it.

  12. I basically finished my Christmas shopping tonight and earned another $50 "reward" card in the process, using the Turkey code. Of course, now, with my luck, prices on everything I just purchased will be slashed in the next couple of days.

    SanFranciscoCA: post back & let us know how your trip to the factory store turned out.

  13. I am through shopping at JCrew for the rest of 2008. I have bought several things recently and now will wait to see what is left (should be a lot:) After Christmas. If it is back to final sale then I will wait for spring. I have vowed NEVER to order from final sale again online.

  14. I probably won't go either, unless it's at the latter part of the weekend...I never go shopping on Black Friday, so I know for sure I won't be at J.Crew then. ;)

  15. i am so frustrated... let me explain my hour long frustration. I was online trying to make my purchase and then realized i had to call the customer service line to figure out how the gift receipt worked (i wanted to make sure each item would be on a separate gift receipt). The customer service lady could not walk me through the process over the phone so she graciously offered to take my offer over the phone. Since she seemed so nice, I decided an additional 15 mins on the phone wouldn't be so bad. It took over 30 mins for her to take my 15 items (yes, she was a little old lady). Since I didn't know what to do about the gift receipt situation, I didn't really have a choice but to stay on the phone. After all that time, she went to double check my order and something must have happened to her computer, but she completely lost my order. She then tried to hide that fact by saying that the computer was down and that she would email me my confirmation in an hour. Well, I wasn't comfortable by her voice so I asked her to repeat all the items I gave her. After 1 minute of fumbling, she finally admitted to having LOST my order. OMG!!! I was so mad! Of course she apologized repeatedly, and offered to take my order again. What choice did I have? I was ordering Christmas gifts with the 30% coupon. So I patiently repeated by 15 items AGAIN. This time, when she quoted me the price, it was $200 more than the original order I gave her. At that point, I was completely red in the face and told her politely that I would make my order online. I have never been so frustrated! I was on the phone with her for over an hour. Considering the ridiculously high prices that J Crew charges, I would assume that high price comes with great customer service!

  16. On the site, click on the item to verify prices. After I have selected an item and opened it in it's own window, the price has been lower.

  17. My orders from early last week have not shipped. They say they are not lost, just "staged" and waiting to make it to a truck (reminiscent of summer website delivery issues). Supposedly there were some issues last week which caused them to be somewhat backlogged. Usually I receive my orders in the specified delivery time. I wonder what is going on at the shipping center! :|

  18. Shipping Delayed

    That is why I am not ordering from them during the holidays.

  19. My in-laws are dragging me to the Mall of America, which I think is crazy on Black Friday. But I will be brave and go to J. Crew which I haven't been to in many years. Wish me luck!

  20. I'm totally going on Black Friday, I don't live near a b&m but visiting family that are near one. Also I will have babysitters and its worth it to me to deal with the crowds if I don't have to deal with 3 toddlers in tow, lol!

  21. As much as I'd love to go shopping for clothes, this Friday I'll pass (too crazzzzyyyy). Maybe I'll go to the gym, take a walk in the woods, then go home and watch a movie.

  22. I did black friday for the first time last year, just because my mom and I usually get really bored after all that family time and we need to get out of the house! I think this year we might be totally nuts and go to the JCrew Factory Store in Howell, MI at midnight on Thursday. I know the factory stores often have lesser quality merch but I've found some good stuff before, so I figure, why not.

    I wish I could afford to buy JCrew new arrivals at full price... but those days are far in the future for me!

  23. I'm skipping Black Friday. A few years ago I braved Woodfield (huge mall in the suburbs of Chicago) on Black Friday and it was just insane! It took an hour just to park. Now I'm a 7 minute bus ride from the Michigan Ave J. Crew, but I still can't stand the thought of all those crowds. I much prefer ordering online.

    Then again, my 'overnight' package ordered last week still hasn't arrived. So much for avoiding hassle!

  24. JCrew Dude,
    Now that sound like the perfect day to me too!

  25. Anony@6:34

    I had that same little old lady she is the pits. Hang up if you ever get her again! OMG...it took her 35 minutes to place an order for me for 2 items once and I was calling from overseas. What a nightmare. Do you have her name. I would send an email to contactus@jcrew.com and nicely explain your story...Let me know what happens....CRAZY:)

  26. I will not risk the Shipping PROBLEMS that still exist at JCrew and their website issues....

    ReplyDelete
  27. would regular jcrew b&ms have black friday sales do you think after all the discounts and promos right now? thanks.

  28. Anon @3:39: When I spoke to the Store Director at my local B&M this morning, she said they will open at 7:00 am, but won't have any Black Friday specials...what there is going on now will be the same for Friday. The Factory Stores are having Black Friday specials though. Alexis had a post on it a couple days ago: Click Here . HTH!

  29. Hi kitchy - sounds like there is the beginning of a major backlog at .com... the order that my PS placed Friday morning (11/21) is still sitting "open", as I called CS to check on it this afternoon. Usually, it would've shipped Monday and I would receive it on Wednesday. They are going to get slammed with the TURKEY sale! Hope your package gets to you soon.

  30. Will there be new items online, too?

  31. Saw a bunch of the new stuff today. Store was EMPTY and stuff uninteresting. Some of the sequins sweaters looked tacky. It seemed like half the store was PJ's, and even though they were on sale, who is going to spend $30 on pajama pants? There were still LOTS of the Lea cardi's, cords, outerwear at 30% off, the bow sequin tees which were not that cute, etc. One item that I could'nt WAIT to order with TURKEY and that I was disappointed in in person was the Licorice Ringspun Tee in the pink (Tulip) color. It was much more of an orangey pink than the clear, bright pink it appeared to be online. Kind of wish I hadn't ordered it now. Sales were very picked over, but lots and lots of cords, jeans, tissue tees, Wellies, Watson pants. I did score the Wide Patent Belt in blanched almond for only $15 after discount, still full price online.

  32. Hi silver_lining -- I'm getting the feeling from a bunch of posts that the warehouse is slammed, and probably still struggling with problems. Actually, the delay might not be that bad. My family is coming tomorrow and staying Wednesday, and if a couple of giant J. Crew boxes don't arrive until after they leave, probably for the best! Otherwise I'm going to get the stern parental lecture on "how many clothes do you really need???"

    Now here's just hoping not too many items get cancelled. Only two so far...

  33. I am planning on going to Natick tomorrow, does anyone know anything about the store? As in promotions, or if they already have new merchandise?

    OMG you read my mind! I was just laughing hysterically at your post...as I can SO relate and had actually thought through that exact scenario!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. kitchy7: I'm laughing out loud - ditto for me, too ... except my family be out of town and my parents are coming by to check on the house and pets ... I really don't want them to see a bunch of boxes piled in front of the house! ;)

  36. My P.S. placed an order for me on Saturday and it shipped out on Monday and will be in IL today. I just check UPS and it is to be delivered today.

    Also, placed an order on Friday myself--online--and it arrived yesterday.

  37. I forgot to add...Glad some packages are getting out---mine for once b/c I have had SOOO MANY problems but I had a feeling this other delays people are experiences would be happening...I am not ordering anymore until AFTER Christmas. That is why I got what I wanted and "got out"

    ReplyDelete
  38. Haha, kitchy and cov5 - my mom has a sixth sense about that stuff - she'll see me and say, "Is that NEW?!" (even if I haven't visited them for months and everything's "new" to them, she still knows!)

    My Friday morning order is still "open". Annoying!

  39. Hi all,

    Sorry if this is familiar, I had posted it before. However, I thought it might be relevant...

    MUST-RESIST!!! MUST-STAY-AWAY from B&M this weekend.... Somehow!

    Oh, That reminds me. I spoke w. my very favourite SA this weekend. We swapped thanksgiving stories & such. I mentioned that I had planned on staying away from the mall this week because "Black Friday" can be sooo hectic. He said that they call it "Green Friday" at JC because they carry a lot more items in green than black. Rather sweet, no?

    We also spoke about how the November catalogue had some ungainly photos with questionable styling. He said that they have been instructed to mix the men's clothing with the women's on a few displays for the coming cycle. My SA has a theory. Apparently, JC had a blouse earlier this season called "His Favourite Shirt" that sold surprisingly well. Oddly enough, despite a lot of feminine details - people still thought of it as a men's item. Also, there is a school of thought that believes there is a connection between a poor economy & folks buying in other departments. After all, if it fits, who cares if it came from the men's dept or crewcuts? It never seems to work that way for me... But if you can look fabulous & save a few $$$, my compliments. I guess it just gives you that much more to play with in your closet :}

    As it is, I'll be out there checking my post for the next few days. Can't wait to see my lovely new things :}

    Thanks again Alexis & all the fabulous aficionada's for the help.

    Heather:D
