Questionable Item of the Week: Striped Jeweled Cobra Cuff

Striped jeweled cobra cuff

Item 11257
Regular: $88.00

Immediate thought upon first viewing this item: "what the ...?"

Seriously, what in the world was J.Crew thinking when they decided to include this "thing" in their collection? I do not know where to begin, but a "seasonless accessory" (as described by J.Crew) this is not.

Do you think I am being overly-critical? What are your thoughts on this cuff? Would you buy this or leave it at the store? Have you see this first hand, and if so, what are your impressions?

  1. It reminds me of something obscene. :P

  2. They probably didn't intend for it to look like a ___________.

    But it does.

  3. Oooh! My very first J.Crew Jeweled Winky! You're right J.Crew, this is something that is seasonal, and naughty...

  4. haha I can't help smiling seeing this cuff. This reminded me of my experience when I bought a horse radish root home for dinner party cooking and it was such a conversation maker when my guests saw it. This cuff may as well be a good conversation maker :-)

  5. At the best, it looks like you're wearing a caterpillar. At the worst, well... ;)

  6. True story - I work at J. Crew and today I had a woman come in absolutely frantic with a picture of this bracelet from the website and SHE HAD TO HAVE IT!!! Now, we don't carry it in store but she was desperately in love. The funniest part was that she wanted it shipped to our store so that her husband wouldn't know she had been spending money. We can't do that, so I'm not sure what she'll do.

  11. It looks like a worm, not a cobra....

I saw it online and I thought OMG there is something uglier than the bug pins (now I sound like a broken record with the bug pins, sorry!)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh dear...dog "lipstick" in jewelry form.
J.Crew have really been missing the mark w their jewelry. Ugh:(

    ReplyDelete
  13. It's making a pink poo.

  14. This definitely does not look like a cobra, unless cobra is code something else...

  16. LOL. Oh no. Oh no no no no no. What were they thinking?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Looks like a disgusting caterpillar or squooshed slug!

I hadn't thought of the "obscene" thing until I read the other comments...OH MY!

  18. Truly ugly amidst all of the wonderfully beautiful other pieces. Ick.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Its def. Fug~ leave it. But, I guess this shows beauty is in the eye of the beholder, someone else's gotta have it piece. Hate those bug pins too.

    ReplyDelete
  20. That is so disgustingly hideous!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Good choice for a review as i thought it was so ugly I ignored it! I guess it will be on sale soon for anyone who "has to have it"! LOL

  22. OT. I live in the UK but I am going home in Jan this year for a visit. I have a million things in my JC shopping cart but I am waiting for a % off sale. Anyone have any idea when that will be. I know we are due one soon. Doesn't JC have a sale before thanksgiving usually?

  23. I think the design should be modified.. The pink part should be painted gold and should be reduced in size..then it would work for me.........
Right now..I will give it a pass..

  24. OT, I want to share a frustrating experience I just had. I placed a phone order a few days ago and while the rep was very nice she has put me in a bad situation. She placed the order for me before I could ask her to send it to my work address instead of my billing address. So she cancelled the order and re-placed it with an order going to my work. Except I received emails this morning to find that both my real order and the 'canceled' one have been charged and shipped to me!

I thought maybe it was just a mixup with their system, so I attempted to log on to my jcrew.com account. Well my account password wasn't working. I had opened a JCrew credit card while placing my order to take advantage of the discount. Apparently in that process the agent re-created my account and reset the password. I was able to log in after having it emailed to me. I confirmed that both orders have in fact been completed and shipped in error. What's worse, in resetting my account the rep had erased my entire order history!

It's not the biggest deal -- I have to call UPS and get the incorrect shipping address package re-routed to my work and return it. But I am sad my order history is gone. This is not exactly the welcome I wanted 'to the family' as they put it when I opened a JCrew credit card account.

I did not even think of the other obscene things. You ladies are way ahead of me! :)

  26. I just spit my coffee everywhere laughing at these posts. Hysterical!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I predict we will see this in final sale very soon for about $19.99! Hopefully J Crew didn't have too many of these made-eek.

  29. i love the bracelet. i ordered it. it hasn't arrived yet. i got it to go with my hot pink and yellow bangles. i thought of it as kenneth j. lane meets david yurman. and i'm not a prude who can't appreciate a good joke, but come on you guys, when was the last time you saw a yellow and white striped willie? i think its a great bracelet. can't wait to wear it with my victoria cami in hot pink.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ok, this thing is just weird. It does look like a catepillar. Maybe at $20 it would be a fun piece, but not $88!

    ReplyDelete
  31. At first blush I thought "GROSS...is that supposed to be a caterpillar or a centipede?"

    ReplyDelete
  32. I know I'm in the minority here, but I LOVE this bracelet! It was love at first sight! I never even thought of the whole weiner-similarity thing. Maybe I should think twice before I ever eat a hot dog or a popsicle or a banana in public again...
I won't be buying it anytime soon, though, as $88 is just too much for me.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Very phallic. I'd say Mickey is having a laugh at this one!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think sitting on the black background doesn't do a lot for this piece. It probably looks better shown on a wrist.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anon @ 9:20- why would you want to wear a penis around your wrist?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anon @ 9:28, why WOULDN'T I?

  39. Sorry this is OT but I had to comment on this. I recently bought some things online when the final sale ended and moved to Fall Sale. I assumed this meant that all things were returnable. Well yesterday I received my items and all of them had a final sale sticker on them. 2 of them I will need to return so I contacted j crew via email and this was their response:

"We apologize for the miscommunication. After reviewing your order, we
have noticed that all items on your order are considered final sale. At
the time of the order these items were listed at the final sale prices.
Fall sale is considered a final sale. However, as a one time customer courtesy, we will allow the return of
the items. For future reference on final sale prices, any price ending
in .99 is considered final sale. This information may help you in future purchases in case you would like to order an item but do not know if you will be able to return the item."

Ok, so I will be able to return them this time but I DID NOT KNOW that anything ending in .99 is Final sale. And she states that Fall Sale is Final Sale?? I am a bit peeved as when I put the item in my shopping cart, it definitely did not say FINAL SALE or I would have not ordered them! I think it was very misleading.

    ReplyDelete
  40. This must be one of J Crew's worst items ever. When I saw it I just about recoiled (no pun intended). I had only thought it looked like a disgusting caterpillar/centipede hybrid and had not even thought of anything phallic, but now I see it.

I wouldn't even compare this to the bug pins! Those are kind of whimsical but this...it's totally hideous.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Wow, people are being a little rude here. #1, it's a bracelet. It's a piece of jewelry, which is also a topic people can have very differing tastes on. I like Silver. My mom hates silver. So, i don't see why people are being so rude towards those who like this piece. Maybe it looks weird or reminds you of something, say that, but don't attack a person based on their fashion sense, anon at 9:37 ( can you actually see what that person is wearing? i'm pretty sure you have similar fashion tastes as you're both at a J.CREW BLOG. )

On a brighter note, I don't really have an opinion on the bracelet. It's meh. Don't need it. Don't hate it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. Mary, thank you for defending me! I'm actually wearing a bathrobe right now, so I guess my "fashion taste" is a little questionable at the moment!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Shopper555, that is awful! I also placed a huge order on the first day of the Fall sale, and everything came with "final sale" stickers. I emailed them to ask if it was a mistake, and I haven't heard back yet. If they tell me everything's final sale even though the website said NOTHING about final sale, I'm going straight to the Better Business Bureau. Very deceptive business practice.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Freud would have a field day with this one!

    ReplyDelete
  45. It looks like on of those giant worms from Africa they make people eat on Survivor.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I actually thought the bracelet was nice when I first saw it. For someone else. Of course I didn't see anything cobra about it and I don't like the pink part. However, I think the white and gold is nice. Again, not for me but I can see someone liking it. I didn't see anything sexual about it until pointed out. I think I'll stop right there. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh -- and I like the yellow in it. They've won me over w/yellow months ago.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'll take a pass, I don't think it's the right kind of "statement" piece for me ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don't love it, and I don't hate it. I would like to see a picture of it on someone's wrist. It is very worm like.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ohhh sorry OT but look at this beautiful thing on ebay -- it's a one of a kind sample Bella. I've never wanted to be a size 6 more badly in my life!!!

    http://cgi.ebay.com/NWT-J-Crew-Jcrew-Camel-Bella-Jacket-One-of-a-Kind-6_W0QQitemZ250316512304QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item250316512304&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A4|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

    ReplyDelete
  51. I did not notice the phallic aspect either. I did notice that the pink really just looks strange--dimensionally--it needs to be closer in size to the bracelet itself. So that it doesn't look like something peeking out.
My re-make of this would be..

It's fine IMO as yellow/white and gold but the "heads" should have been gold and if they wanted a shot of color--the pink should have only been in that thin strip of diamonds.

I don't think it is as BAD as those bug pins--those still go down as the ugliest, biggest joke ($$) almost like--they would laugh if/when someone actually bought one full price because they pulled the wool over some idiots eyes. Or for that matter--even when they sell one on sale! Those things will be in the sale for $1 soon...I should say FINAL SALE;)

    ReplyDelete
  52. i actually love the bracelet, but i see what everyone means about it being a little risqué.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I do not mean to be gross, but the two ends of the cuff remind me of when a dog gets too excited...if you know what I mean.

Not something I will ever wear!

    ReplyDelete
  54. hey - did everyone get the 30% outwear e-mail?? no one posted about it and usually i am the last to receive it, so just making sure!

but i love the comments today they are hysterical!

    ReplyDelete
  55. shopper555-This is NEWS to me!! I still cannot believe you didn't get a new CSR with some bad info! Then again you emailed and they sent that email back in writing which SHOCKS me and I bet everyone else that reads your post. I agree about the BBB--this is flat out wrong. Nowhere does it say this and it cannot be ASSUMED by the retailer that their customers are so educated that they realize they ordered a .99 ending item and they have to eat it if it doesn't work.

Can I ask, what was your response to that email?
I would take it up the ladder--it doesn't seem accurate and they need to move to action on that one IMO.
I have placed several recent orders and I see that many of my items come with the FS stickers but my receipt doesn't have the FS notation and I figured the bags had been stickered all during the FS so they are just ready to throw it in box. But that it doesn't mean I cannot return it. (BTW-I return all FS stuff that doesn't work with no question at my store which I have come to learn is an amazing benefit based on reading other posts)

    ReplyDelete
  56. Shopper555: thanks for posting about Fall Sale being Final Sale on your receipt. I was contemplating loading up on some sale merchandise to try out but will refrain from doing so now.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yes you should take that to the BBB. They were purposely leading is to believe final sale was OVER when they changed the name to fall sale. It didn't say final sale ANYWHERE.

    ReplyDelete
  58. and i don't like the bracelet either. i didn't think it looked anything cobra like. and now that i've read the other comments i certaintly wouldn't wear the thing if they sent it to me as a gift. HA. wouldn't that be a hoot? someone receiving this as a gift from mickey like the necklace last month?

    ReplyDelete
  59. I was was wondering where all of the comments were hiding when this came out. I am a HUGE fan of big, bold statement jewelry and I too was like WTF when I saw this. Especially in context to all of the other new jewelry (loving the spacey designs). If it had been more snake like and less neon silkworm, maybe, but this is too creepy for me. Like a gigantic glow-worm on your wrist. I didn't even pick up on the other similarity until reading it here, thats funny. I am sorry but I cannot defend this item as I have most of the big, bold jewels offered lately. I don't know where cobra came to mind as its got no head or tapered parts as a snake would. Its a spawn of glow-worm for sure.

  60. JCrew has 30% off select men and women's outerwear in stores and online. For online shoppers, since the price is marked down 30% you can still use a free shipping code.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I'm so glad other people thought this bracelet was obscene too. That was my first reaction, but then I berated myself for having a dirty mind. Guess that's not it!

I also received the 30% off select outerwear email. Looks like it applies to the double cloth, stadium cloth, wool-cashmere, and puffer coats (but not the long puffer coat).

    ReplyDelete
  62. For people getting items marked FS even though it no longer said FS when you purchased it online: When you placed the order it was a contract for the sale of goods. At no time when you made the purchase did the website tell you the item was FS. You cannot change a term of the contract after the fact without both parties' consent. They must let you return per normal return procedures unless they had clearly changed their policies on their website (at the time you made the purchase) to state that any item at any time with a price ending in .99 is final sale.

    --An attorney

Btw, I'm sure a plaintiffs' class action lawyer would be happy to bring a case against JC for deceptive business practices. Suits have been brought for much smaller individual grievances, i.e. $10 credit card fees, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  63. lol at 12:24 AM - your comment made me giggle! Maybe it's because I've taken too many art history classes but that bracelet definitely has some major phallic overtones going on and is not something I'd wear around my wrist.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I do not care for this bracelt, looks a little cheap. I do think that Jcrew is trying to think " out of the box" and appeal to many consumers. I think there might be a small % of people who will love it and purchase it. J crew really prides themselves on being different. Not my cup of tea but it might make something else feel great. Also, I am upset about the whole .99 cent final sale items. If something is going to be final sale then it must be clear. They have always been clear in the past, why not now? They must state this final sale policy better and more clearly.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I too would like to add that I always return FS merchandise that doesn't fit or isn't as described. I simply state what the problem is on the order form, return the item, and usually get a gift card for the amount (which is fine with me). I have never had a problem, gotten a call, or even been questioned about doing this. I would guess that since I am not asking for my money back they are fine with my return. I don't do this often, but I do want to applaud J Crew for never giving me a hard time when I feel the need to return a FS item. IMHO J Crew still rocks.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I love J. Crew, but I would totally join a class action suit over this $.99 final sale thing. That is NOT cool. My receipt says everything I ordered is final sale, but my confirmation email doesn't say that ANYTHING is final sale. Nor did the website when I placed the order.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Oh, and I don't want any of this "one-time courtesy" baloney either. It's a one-time courtesy to follow standard ethical business practices? Gee, thanks, J. Crew! :-P

    ReplyDelete
  68. 2:02, ITA. It's nice that JC sometimes lets people who ask to return things, but I know people who want to return but don't ask b/c they don't think they'll be able to. It's deceptive to people who don't know better or are not assertive.

Also, I just checked the website and nowhere under the returns policy does it state that .99 items are always final sale.

    ReplyDelete

^^^ This is an absolutely horrible legal analysis. Horrid.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Anon@2:36, if you're going to say something is horrid, at least give a reason. I may not be an attorney, just a lowly PhD, but it sounded good to me. What's the problem?

    ReplyDelete
  71. This cuff looks like something out of a Tim Burton film! I'm thinking one of those creatures in "Beetlejuice" or something...yikes!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I want to start by saying I don't wear jewelery. I appreciate when someone wears jewelery that makes them or their outfit look better. I think the idea of jewelery that is seasonless is a good one. A pair of earnings or a necklace that can be worn all year makes sense.

When I first saw the necklace in the picture my thoughts were such that I can't say them here. It wasn't good, enough said. Maybe this jewelery look better in person, but I doubt it. Sometimes I miss the boat, but in this case I think the desinger missed the mark.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Totally OT. Has anyone seen the faded cement color for the bootcut cords this year? Is it pretty? Also, do you think that 70.00 is worth it for them? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  74. RE: Faded cement cords
They look OK but I personally prefer a darker gray. I bought my gray cords from the factory store about three weeks ago. They are definitely a deeper gray color and were only $29.99.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hi everyone,

I know this is OT but I'm not sure where else to post this (hope you don't mind!):

I received two items yesterday (Petite Double-cloth Boulevard Coat & Petite Porta jacket) and, to my surprise, BOTH did not have tags! Furthermore, the Petite Porta was extremely wrinkled and had creases at the elbows! My interpretation was that both items had been previously worn by another customer and subsequently returned, without tags...and J. Crew sold these as "brand new" items online.

What do you all think? Maybe I'm just overreacting after my last negative experience with J. Crew (the missing Cheshire jacket that Alexis posted about on my behalf)?

    Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  76. anon 2:36 -- I would also like to hear why the analysis is horrid. Perhaps you'd like to give us your legal analysis?

    ReplyDelete
  77. yes 2:36, what is your non-horrid legal analysis? Keep in mind that this is an explanation to lay people, not a legal brief to be read by a judge.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Esther, wow j.crew is really screwing up your orders. I would definitely return those items. Someone else had previously posted about receiving items with stains, etc. They are apparently not inspecting returns and just repackaging them. I'd be pissed.

  87. J. Crew mailed 2 Final Sale items back to me after I returned them.

I couldn't believe it because some aficionadas have been successful returning numerous F.S. items. They included a letter explaining the F.S. Policy (oh, I'M WELL AWARE OF IT, Mickey, but thanks). I have purchased many things at J.Crew, it's not like I'm a shady customer. I have ordered many F.S. items in the past and returned items twice. Has anyone else had Final Sale returns sent back?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Re: Cement cords-

Thanks Anon@3:41. They're OK w/me at that price. My size sells out fast in the neutrals, so it's always a bit of a gamble to wait.

    ReplyDelete
  89. If it were half price, maybe I'd buy it. It does have a "winky" look to it, I admit.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Esther,
I would call and tell them they do not look like new and ask for returning. It happened to me once and I was able to return my item.

  91. What do you think about the garden bracelet? I'm kind of thinking about getting one...doubt it'll go on sale any time soon right? Anyone know when new stuff will come out or we'll get a discount coupon?

For those of you that order a ton--and have a lot of online/box receipts--how the hell are we supposed to keep our MC bill straight?! There is no total nor no ref to what card was used (I use JC too sometimes). Anyone else completely confused by these new receipts--this is a REAL problem!!I am literally gonna have to call and go through each one--unbelievable.

    ReplyDelete
  93. covert5: Easy, online banking. Pay your bills, manage your accounts online.

    ReplyDelete
  94. RE: garden bracelet

I bought one over the weekend and wore it very briefly around the house because I wanted to get a sense of its weight on my wrist (I have very slender wrists). For a chunky bracelet, it was a decent weight, by the way. I liked it aesthetically, too: it's a bit costume-y, but in a provocative rather than matronly way.
I wanted to wear it out today and the clasp fell apart while I was trying to fasten it around my wrist.
For a 2-day old bracelet that cost roughly $100 (w/tax factored in) its 'durability' was laughable at best.
I'm returning it today and would not consider buying it again unless the price dropped considerably. If it cost as much as a movie ticket, then maybe I'd spring for this bracelet once more (--seeing how I'd expect to get about 2 hours worth of entertainment out of either 'investment').

    ReplyDelete
  95. OT - regarding final sale vs. fall sale: I just received an order today that I placed during the "fall sale." My receipt says nothing about it being final sale, nor was the packaging marked. I'm not sure why some are getting final sale and some are not. (Oh, and it was a super mark down, not a recent mark down.)

    ReplyDelete
  96. First glance this wasn't exactly what I would picture jewelry to be... but I guess some people will like it.

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm an attorney as well, and the analysis above was a citation of basic contract law. If you want further analysis, the UCC makes for some fascinating reading.

    ReplyDelete
  98. On a separate note, was checking out the Jcrew collection website and noticed a few items were marked "to be available Nov 6" - does it mean that's the next roll out of new items?

    ReplyDelete
  99. Carrie: the next rollout is scheduled for mid-November...the collection pieces coming out on November 6th are the items from the November catalog that have been available only on pre-order. HTH!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  100. jeff-not easy--your not reading what I wrote very closely. I have no totals on my boxed receipts now that they have the new system completed. The date of the order is off by a couple of days from the posting to the card and they give you NO totals and no reference number whatsoever. Am I the only one totally irritated with this??

    ReplyDelete
  101. Thanks for the clarification FFM!

    ReplyDelete
  102. covert-5

You are not alone!!! i was on the phone with them for almost an hour going over my credit card. such a hassle and waste of time for both me and the customer service rep.

    ReplyDelete
  103. covert5 - I imagine you were just venting, but I'll share what I do. When I want to place an online order I print out the shopping cart before I complete the order online or phone it in. Once I complete the order, I write the total on it, the confirmation number and who I spoke to (if appl). I put that in a file and once the online receipt comes I attach the printout to it. That way I have a $ total and also a photo of what I ordered, in addition to the online receipt. HTH

  104. Just an update on things for sale in the B&M store today...... Ecole jackets 98.00, cashmere still 99.00, wool jackets 30%, cords still 10 off, and FS still 30% off (in Austin).

    ReplyDelete
  105. Total OT and I posted this in another thread but I really need help!

I have a question about jcrew bridesmaids dresses. I ordered claudine tank size 2, which I normally get. My problem is that my torso is short even though I am 5'5''. I never get petit, but then when I get a dress, I always need straps shortened, otherwise a half of my bra is showing. I am thinking maybe i should order petit? But then what size? Is it 2 petit or 4 petit? How much shorter would the dress be then?

I would really appreciate your help with this, gals, since it seems like there might be some extensive alternations on 2 regular and I am not sure how much it would run in NYC.

    TIA!

  106. My instant cobra cuff response: Survivor-bug-ish. Now it's taken on a whole new association!

I received my first Fall Sale purchase in the mail today, and it came with return shipping labels in the box. I noticed right away that the receipt didn't have anything but the item totals. It is totally unfair for some Fall Sale to be final and others not. I'm returning my Becca flats (with .99 price) on Friday and really hope they don't question it.

  107. Re: faded cement cords. I bought the trouser skirt in the same color, just received it last week. I absolutely LOVE the color, so much so that I'm considering getting the cord pants...although it would be nice if they were a little cheaper.

P.S. - no more class action lawsuits please, don't even think about it.

  108. I placed two separate orders of sale items when the "Final Sale" was removed from the site and replaced with "Fall Sale." I received both orders yesterday. On one receipt, none of the items were marked FS. On the other one, 2 out of 3 were FS. If items ending in .99 are considered FS, it should be stated on their site.

I also don't like the fact that they don't include the price numbers on the shipping receipts. It makes tracking everything a pain.

  110. I thought it looked like a worm as well. Reminds me of the awful tomato horn worm I had one summer in my garden (well, maybe different shade, but kind of same shape).

Anyone seen the Juliet heels in the almond shade for sale at all?

  111. I have a question about items returned by mail... are they updated as "return" on your account history? I mailed something in a couple of weeks ago, but its status hasn't updated to "returned" (It was a fs item, but I explained to the customer service that I'd meant to order the item in a different color and they said they'd issue me "credit"). I'm not sure if they meant store credit. Anyway, how long does it take for the facility to sort through and register a return? And if they issue store credit, does that appear in your online account? Or is it mailed as a gift card?

  112. Anonymous @ 10:24p - The 'rule' is you are supposed to size up in petites. So if you wear a 2, get a 4P. That is how it goes for me. I wear a 4 or 6P. As far as length. There is an average of 1"-2" difference among many labels. However, I don't know how much J Crew varies in length between a regular size and petite. I know it's about 2" - 3" in the pants.

What you might want to do is call in and ask for measurements. If you get a rep that works in the facility (I.e. Virginia) and not at home, they can check a mock store for the item and give you more specifics. HTH!

  114. Oh -- and don't tell any alterations person that the dress is for a wedding or you can count on paying double. Just say it's a 50th birthday party you are attending or other special occasion. Or just don't get specific.

  117. I love how political jcrew has become. What a sell out!

So I don't want to hear it from you ladies that this company isn't about politics. Doesn't Mickey know that Obama will tax him to death? I don't know how supportive he is of that...

    Insane.

  120. jesus,

ive never seen so many uptight people in one place.

michelle wearing jcrew = free promotion for jcrew, what company wouldn't like that?

if obama wins = free advertising 24/7

uh... i'm betting mickey would really love to be associated with white house attire, duh!

so silly., i'm sure he really could care less about how much he's being taxed..i doubt he's a penny pincher like the rest of us...especially when he knows his company would be reaping rewards from it

    cindy mccain wears = couture
    palin wears = saks

    michelle wears = jcrew

essentially, jcrew is now being put on the same pedestal as couture

why would mickey not love that?
    it's on company message!

  123. Does anyone have any new codes to replace the ones that are expiring today (or that expired yesterday)?

I used to count on this blog as a place to come for useful information so that I can be a savvier shopper. I'm so hoping it gets back to that!

  125. maryw2062: There aren't any new codes available on any site yet, but the following codes posted on here still work:

    J27L34S (free shipping on $150+; expires 10.30.08)

    KT-69 (free shipping on $150+; expires 11.1.08)

I'm sure J.Crew will send another one out through email today or tomorrow, and that someone on here will post it in this thread (if a new topic doesn't go up today)...I know if I get one I will. :)

  127. gigiofca, thank you! Do you know if the straps on petit dresses are shorter as well?

Also, does anyone know how much it would cost to get dress taken in in the shoulders? The dress is lined in the body, so its a little complicated.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Anonymous @ 8:14 - I am sure the straps would be a little shorter & the torso area would be smaller. But I can't even guess by how much. I know that usually a petite from other vendors will fit me without any alterations and that's the lure for me.

Can't comment about alteration prices. You might try yelp.com to search for a tailor in the city of your choice. The reviewers on that site may not get into price specifics, but you can get a good recommendation from them.

  131. American Express will take back a certain number of items per year if the merchant will not accept them as a return.

    It's called Return Protection:

No More Shopping Regrets - Return Protection offers guaranteed product satisfaction on designated items purchased entirely with an eligible American Express® Card.

90 Days of Protection - If you try to return an eligible item purchased in the U.S. within 90 days from the date of purchase and the merchant won't take it back, American Express will refund the purchase price.

Up to $300 Coverage - You are covered for up to $300 per item, excluding shipping and handling, up to $1,000 annually per Card account.

Perhaps an incentive to make your J. Crew purchases with Amex instead of the J. Crew card?? You can get your money back from day 60-90 instead of store credit as well.
