J.Crew Potential Promos & Sales Coming Soon :)

For those who were wondering about the next coupon and additional percent off sale...

"Thanks!" to an anonymous member of the blog who let us know that a J.Crew associate told her to "lookout" in her email account for a new coupon, which is "rumored to involve $25 off $125". :)

"Thanks!" to another anonymous member of the blog who let us know that there will most likely be an additional 20% off sale starting this Friday through next Monday.

Mini-Update
: The anonymous member let us know that it is "another Private Sale of 20% off your entire purchase of $175 or more" that will start this Friday. Although there is a (high) minimum, the positive is that the promotion would not be limited to "final sale" items.

Mini-Update2: "Thanks!" to Melissa who let us know that the code for 20% off $175+ (valid between this Friday through Monday) is PRIVATESALEOCT.

Are you currently holding off from any J.Crew purchases online until a new promotion or sale is occurring? If so, what items are you currently considering to purchase. :)

  1. Does anyone remember when Jcrew used to do 50% off final sale at the end of a season? It was years ago, but, sigh, those were the days.

I appreciate all Jcrew discounts now, but could really use a flashback to those 50% times!

  2. ot - anyone know how the lydia blouse fits?

    ReplyDelete
  3. Anon @ 8:24 - the Lydia runs big, so I would definitely size down.

  4. I hope they do the % off the final sale online. I've been eyeing the Lucille boucle jacket for awhile. Just waiting on the price to go down!

I'm headed to the store today. Will let you know what they have!

  5. The extra 20% off in-stores has still been going on for awhile now, and Rockaway has actually had an extra 50% off. It would be great if the extra % got increased to 40% again this weekend! :)

I agree with silver_lining on the Lydia...definitely size DOWN.

    ReplyDelete
  6. They are no longer price matching the 50% off at stores if you call the customer service line, like they were doing yesterday.

  7. Does anyone own the Simone jacket in navy that is new to the sale section? I wonder how you like it if so. thank you.

  8. anon @ 8:24: I got my first Lydia (Rhubarb) after FFM suggested it. I totally agree that you must size down for this one, however it is just beautiful on and I have it in FOUR colors now.

    ReplyDelete
  9. OT: Does anyone know what "Releasable" designation mean for order status - haven't seen it before, just " Released". Have they changed desigantions again?
The Lydia blouse runs quite big - I own the watercolor garden, it is gorgeous, but for a size O - it is quite wide in the body, OK in the shoulders/arm openings.

  10. I am glad you have the sweater in FOUR colors....I have it in FIVE! Anyone have SIX!

    ReplyDelete
  11. anon at 8:24: The lydia runs very big....size down! I bought a watercolor lydia and had to return it. Now they are not available until Nov/Dec. Oh well...guess I didn't need it! lol!

  12. Lydia vs. Elizabeth halter. They seem similar. Does anyone have (or tried on) both and have a preference one over the other?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm trying to order bridesmaid dresses for my girls. I just ordered a batch a few weeks ago when they had the 20% off sale but a few don't fit so I need to reorder them. And the one style I need two more in (gracie) just disappeared from the website today!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Anon 10:04 - I believe that Releaseable applies to items that are waitlisted. Once the item is back in stock, it should change to Released, then Open. This is what happened with my waitlisted, but recently shipped Dana coat.

  15. leaderboys: I prefer the elizabeth halter. This also runs a little big, so size down (although mine is from last year, so maybe they have adjusted the cut since then). I just like the collar detail more than the lydia ruffles. Both are pretty, though, so it's a tough decision! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Leaderboys, on Eliz the collar is a circle but on Lydia the ruffles continue down front of blouse like a jabot. Eliz would be better if you want to layer with crew necks; Lydia better for V neck or jackets. I could never get my Eliz to look the way it did in fall 07 catalog.

  17. Thanks Silver_lining, I just placed this order over the phone with CS, hence the surprise. I ordered the Cashmere clementina jacket in orange, and was told that it is in stock, but low - I am crossing my fingers, I really hope I get it.

  18. How do the city fit florentine cafe capri's fit? TTS??

What about the pique andrea jacket?

And the watercolor floral rosette tank--run big like all the silk tanks and is it cute IRL??

    ReplyDelete
  19. Also--does anyone have the bright saffron lydia--if so, what's color like--seems softer yellow instead of some of those tough to wear yellows of summer..anyone?
    Thanks!

  20. I tried on both the Lydia & Elizabeth when they were available in my B&M. I loved each design so much I was willing to pay full price for them at the time. Unfortunately, I was not able to purchase either blouse b/c the fit was so large. I am 5’2 and usually ware an XS in JC tops and when I tired both the tops on in XS they were very awkward and there was an overwhelming amount of excess fabric which made me look like a brightly colored puffy marshmallow. I absolutely love both blouses but I would say if you are 0/2 petite you might want to pass. If you are any other size definitely size down.

  21. I am just furious with J Crew today! On September 26, 2008, I took advantage of the 20% off final sale offer and placed an order for the Cashmere cable V-neck sweater. Since most of my orders had been canceled, I wrote to customer service asking whether my order was still valid. They confirmed it appeared to be valid, but later that week my order was canceled. Despite having many of my orders canceled, I was in the process of placing yet another order for different items despite not being able to use any sort of 20% off coupon. To my surprise and dismay, I found that the same exact item that I had ordered and subsequently was canceled was still listed as in stock and ready for purchase. I could even add it to my shopping bag!!

I wrote to J Crew, but I am sure they will do nothing except apologize. Maybe they should get their legal counsel a copy of the Federal Trade Commission Act, especially the provisions on false or deceptive advertising.

  22. all cashmere sweaters are on sale for $99 in stores only!

  23. Just my three cents' worth - I have both the Elizabeth and Lydia and while I adore both, Elizabeth hangs much better on the body. It's probably because of the softness of the silk - the collar is also more discreet and sleek. Having said that, I have two Lydia because it's machine wash while Elizabeth is dry clean only...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Covert5- The pique andrea jacket runs TTS. It has a pleat in the back which makes it a swingier fit. It's very nice jacket. I have it in the honey glaze and recieve alot of compliments on it.

Thx-I have the ecole velvet in sz 4 yet berry astrid in sz 2 so I asked them to let me buy both and return one accordingly. They were alright with that. I am all over with sz in jackets here...

    ReplyDelete
  26. Just wanted to add that I am normally a size 0/2 for tops at J Crew too. As both Elizabeth/ Lydia run big, I either tuck the top into my skirt or use a belt to accentuate the waist to make it more sleek looking. Hope this helps~

  27. meant buy both sizes andrea

  28. This is OT but I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem- I thought this was confusing when I was trying to order a Jackie shell. I clicked on a yellow color and it showed the large pic of the shell in yellow but the smaller pics were a reddish color. Of course I wasn't paying attention and I thought that when I clicked on the yellow square it would give me the name of the color. Instead it showed the large pic in yellow and gave me the name of the color for the small pics. I assumed that the name of the color was for the square that I clicked on and so I ended up ordering it in the wrong color. Since it was a final sale item I am stuck with and the color I originally wanted is now sold out. I hate to whine but I really hate final sale for online items.

    ReplyDelete
  29. anon @ 10:57, if you call the customer service line and explain that your order was cancelled w/ the discount, they will almost definitely replace the order for you with the discount.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ohhh that is so frustrating. The site is getting better but there are still minor glitches that actually become major glitches when you don't end up with what you wanted! Take it back--they will have no problem. If you really want confirmation call first have them note the situation and then return it.

I am finding that when I add items to my shopping cart and then at the bottom there are a list of about 4 suggestions for "other things I might like" there is an entire list of other colors available of for ex. the hammered silk tank ON SALE but then in the sale section they are really just two colors on the sale. I feel like they should be honoring that price in all honesty as it is false advertising but I won't go down that road:)
Confusing but my point is there are STILL issues going on with the site BUT it is MUCH, MUCH better and I have had far less issues lately..shew!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hmm, never really tired to tuck in either blouse or use a belt. Probably would have looked cute. The Lydia was so long on me the sales assoc thought I sould use it as a cover up over a swimsuit! But now that it is on sale I might order it and just tuck it in.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I agree the site is so much better then it was a couple months ago- Thank goodness!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I love that everyone is so helpful. Thank you to those who gave info about the fit, etc of Lydia/Elizabeth. Especially the dry clean/wash aspect. I had not thought of this and it is always a factor.

  34. I just bought the cashmere striped sequin cardigan but if they have a promotion, it's time to look at their sale section again.... :)

  35. this is awesome!

Anyone know how the adelaide dress fits? I've been waiting for it to go on sale and it's finally $50! so i plan on ordering it either friday or saturday (in hopes of an extra 20% ;) heh)

  37. Hi, these are off topic questions:

Men, do the men's (mens'? my brain's not working) clothes tend to run big, like a lot of the women's clothes do? Or more true to size? I'm mostly asking about knit tops.

Can an English major help me with the apostrophes?
    men's belonging to men, right?
mens' also belonging to men? I'm confused, because the word men is plural to begin with. Help!

And, totally off topic, does anyone have a GARNET HILL coupon code? Thanks everybody!

    ReplyDelete
  38. this is OT, but has anyone's orders placed yesterday shipped yet? i've been monitoring two of my orders placed yesterday closely, and both are still in open status, whereas earlier last week, within 24 hours after my orders were placed, i noticed they were shipped.

    ReplyDelete
  39. There is no "mens'," only "men's." :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. mekiki: "men's" It's already plural, like "women's." :)

  41. I used to check the JCrew sale section EVERY day. It was my morning ritual. After the upgrade fiasco, I don't bother. Instead, I check this blog everyday. Thanks, Alexis! This blog is a more cost effective way to enjoy JCrew.

  42. I am waiting to get the Dream Taffeta Sash Cardigan. It is beautiful, but 89.99 is still a little bit too high for my budget!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My orders from yesterday have not shipped, either.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I used promo code RCLK to get 10% off yesterday - found it through Googling.

There are a few things I'm holding out on for a better promo. I wish the stores would have more XLs in stock - I always have to order!

    ReplyDelete
  45. anon 1:24 The order status will not be updated until sometime this evening. JC have been pretty good about shipping out orders however my last one took 6 days to ship out from the warehouse. I do not know why there was plenty of stock.

I would like to see the promo coincide with the new holiday rollout.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Is the order status updated every evening?

    ReplyDelete
  47. Anyone know how Brewster Boots fit? I am not sure if I should order one size smaller because it has no zipper...I also like the long fabienne (charcoal)
I usually wear 6.5 in Jcrew Boots Thanks!

  49. I ordered on Monday of last week and J Crew didn't update my status from open to shipped until the day that my order was delivered by UPS. However, I will give them points for shipping it so quickly- I recieved my items after 4 days. I would give it 2 or 3 days and if you don't have a change in status give CS a call.

  50. Hi all,

Can anyone tell me about the Simone jacket? How it fits, how it feels? How about the "boxiness" and the length?

    Thanks for the help!

    ReplyDelete
  51. My most recent order placed last week took much longer to ship than other orders I've made recently. It was "releasable" for most of that time.

    ReplyDelete
  52. is there a difference between open and releasable?

    ReplyDelete
  53. anon at 1:24 PM, I placed an early on wed at about noon and it has not shipped yet, it's showing as releasable. I think that means it's in the wharehouse, boxed up, ready to ship.
    bgd

    ReplyDelete
  54. bgd, lucky you, releasable sounds like at least you will definitely get your items just a matter of them actually shipping it out, whereas, my order were placed like before 10AM yestrday and they are still in 'open' status, and a couple items they only had 1of, so i am keeping my fingers crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  55. jliz, the Simone fits tts in the shoulders but since it's so boxy, there's room to size down in the torso. Does that make sense? Also the length is about to the high hip on me (I'm 5'2) HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  56. mekiki: Garnet Hill code G8KMENT will give $10 off a $50 purchase, or $25 off $150, or $50 off $300 (you may have to go to the final checkout page to see the discount applied).

    ReplyDelete
  57. heidi -

the adelaide is much shorter than it looks online. the bottom ruffles weigh the dress down but not enough to make it hit your knees, instead it hits a few inches above the knee. i returned it due to the length and the overall cut wasn't flattering on me (i have curves and the dress didn't flatter my figure).

    ReplyDelete
  58. OT, but the Garden State J.Crew has some new items in store! I saw different coats than those online, new metallic totes, hats/scarves/gloves and some new sweaters.

    ReplyDelete
  59. G8KMENT code does not work.

  60. I was thinking about the Ringspun cotton beaded floral tee but was wondering if it was too t-shirty.

    Also wondering how it fits.

Have to wait for a bigger sale though; can't do $175 after dropping $125 last night.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Dree- the ringspun beaded cotton floral tee is very cute! It's more of a light sweater-y material than a t-shirt material. I got one last week when it was 20% off, and I really like it.

The only potential problem is that I'm afraid the material will get holes easily.

    ReplyDelete
  62. bkp - what color did you get in the adelaide?

    ReplyDelete
  63. Hey guys! Went to the b&m today. Not joking...basically the entire store was on sale. Sale was at 20% off. I got a ruffle cardi in grey, a 3/4 sleeve grey shirt w/ botton sleeves and a amazing black & cream scarf.

The manager told me they were expecting new things either Monday or Tuesday.

    ReplyDelete
  64. OT - I got a herringbone Bella in the mail today that I ordered off of Ebay and I absolutely love it! After some talk about the sizes I was worried that it wouldn't fit, but it fits perfectly and I'm sooo excited to wear it! Thanks for your suggestions/discussion about the Bella and help with the sizes!

  65. OT and I've already posted this before but is the Tartine on sale at stores for $69 and a extra 20% discount? If so are all colors on sale? Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  66. Anonymous @ 8:09 PM - I saw the tartine in snow leopard, chocolate brown, orange and maybe the cream. The 1st 3 colors for sure were on FS. It was a little picked over so not sure if there are other colors that were on sale. This was at Walnut Creek, CA.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Tysons' in VA had all Tartine colors on sale. I ordered Lt Pewter today ( they did not have my size in store, will be shipping from the other store).

    ReplyDelete
  68. Thanks a lot! I live really far from my closest b&m so I thought I should know if its on sale before going there. Do you think they will ship it to me from the store if I asked? And if so how much will they charge for shipping?

    ReplyDelete
  69. Anon:
I honestly do not know. What size and color did you have in mind? They were sold out of many S and XS ( that's why mine got ordered from another store), but had tons of M and higher up. The store # is
703 734 9555 , the manager's name is Michelle- she is super nice and helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks Slastena. I will give them a call because I am a size S on their sweaters so they might not have my size:( I am looking for it in black. Are you paying for the shipping of your Tartine and if so, how much? Oh and what did you get to go with your beautiful necklace?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Anon:
I left the store before they gave me a total.PS was still calling around to see who has it, he was also looking for another item for me. He called me back to let me know that he located the items I wanted, but yet to give me a total and confirmation number. Once I have that info, I'll be happy to share. Someone posted earlier that they got charged around $12 for s/h from the store, so it might be in that price range.
Sorry I could not be more speciifc.

  72. About necklace:
With so much controversy going around it, I am not enjoying it in the moment.

Funnily, in my local store today EVERY girl SA was wearing this necklace in different colors. It went well with a variety of oufits.
Check out my Polyvore site, I had few outfits made with it previously.

  74. Around $12 s&h, got it! I totally agree with you that the necklace will go with many outfit choices especially the ones you created on Polyvore (which I like a lot too). BTW what do you mean by controversy? Sorry, you don't have to expand on that if you don't want to but I was just wondering...

Again I hope you can ignore all the silly controversy and enjoy!

  78. Does anyone know if the 20% coupon code will also be usable in stores? I'm hoping they will send out a printable one via e-mail. *crosses fingers* But in the case that they do not offer a printable one, would it be possible to use it somehow in stores? Thanks in advance. :)

  79. gigiofca-

i got the adelaide in honey glaze. it's beautiful and i like the detailing on the bottom. wish it would have looked nicer on me :(

side not, i also tried the sara dress and that one fit beautiful but is very low cut. i'm a 36C on top and felt very uncomfortable.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Cleo26:
the only new item I saw in store, was the camel coat with atie that gigiofca described. Other then that- old stuff. On sale they had tons though:
    - cashmere peyton dresses
    - tartine cardigans
    - matchsticks
    - houndstooth boucle herringbone jackets in buttercup
-1 or 2 cleo bucle jackets
    - juliet heels in yellow adn peacock, Lizzie mocs in silver, perfect printed flats in yellow and leopard print
-tons of shirts, sweats, cashmere vest and cahsmere crewnecks in certain color
