As Minah, Mary (in this post), and others have pointed out, J.Crew's website has the dreaded "be back soon..." sign up.
Mini-Update: "Thanks!" to Anon at 5:25 PM in this post who let us know that the website is back up. {yey!}
My fingers are crossed that the website & system will be fully functional (and glitch-free) for the holiday season. :)
Nordstrom's site was down most of this morning. Maybe it's e-commerce maintenance day in the land of the interwebs.
ReplyDeleteI know I posted this on another topic, but thought I'd post here just in case. :) Does anyone know of any stores that have the Felicia on sale? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOT, sorry, but since the website's down... if anyone wants to hit up the B&M in Ann Arbor there were more markdowns on things like the different ringspun Ts (v neck short sleeve, boatneck longsleeve, various and sundry appliqued and decorated short sleeves). It's all still final sale and 30% off. Sorry, I didn't see if there were any Felicias, but they had plenty of accessories.
ReplyDeleteIT'S UP.
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I was in the B&N in Manhasset and Manhattan. I was itching to buy the Felicia but it was at full retail price. I'm hoping it goes on sale.
ReplyDeleteThis would be different if we knew things were going to be fixed once and for all...when I see this on other sites I know it is for the better...at JCrew..when I see this is just pisses me off and/or scares me that they are continuing to mess things up...once the day after Thanksgiving hits i.e. Christmas rush...there is NO WAY I would consider placing an order with them!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't think of ordering from them after November 15th, no matter how good the deals are, the headaches are not worth it!

ReplyDeleteOT - at Walnut Creek, CA
ReplyDeleteThe Lulu peep toe pump was $129.99 + 30% at Walnut Creek, CA. All colors.
The new tank with the chiffon rosettes was $25, down from $29.50.
OMG KOP Mall PA has 40% off markdowns and TONS of everything!
ReplyDeleteThe site is back up! Yay! Except that, once again, some of my shopping bag is gone. Oh well...
ReplyDeleteCurious: what do you folks think of the Julianne dress (97369)? It's on sale for $29 from $148 (and NOT final sale!), so I'm definitely tempted.
ReplyDeleteWebsite isnt working for me.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Juliet heels in stores (where they might be on sale?) Has anyone tried them? I find them so cute, but they're way to expensive!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where to put this post, but I need help! I literally have almost purchased JC's entire fall 1 & 2 line when I was being forced to by the lure of really think fall style magazines in September.
That's when I bought JC's bootcut and slim vintage jeans. The problem is that no matter how many times I wash them, I end up with blue alien-like hands after an hour. THEY BLEED! My JEANS BLEED BLUE! Is this happening to anyone else? I need it to stop!
Thank you!
I was at Natick today, just some notes..
ReplyDelete-I saw definitely saw one of those sketchbook rose skirt things (not sure on the name), and another floraly skirt that was blue (again, at a loss on the name). I only saw one of each.
-And as someone mentioned earlier, the city-fit boatneck tee was there for about $20.
-Sale was at 40% off
-I got one of those 10% off purchase cards when I gave my email, as previously said by others..
Oh I also went to Madewell (by the way, very nice sales associates!) and they reminded me that college students get 15% off. I never knew that the 15% off discount also applied for Madewell!
ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteJust posting this cause its the most recent post...I think someone has mentioned this before, but if you live in the Bay Area...I went to Jeremy's in Berkeley/Rockridge today. I was so amazed--like 75% of the store was JCrew stuff. They had racks and racks and racks of JCrew stuff, both current and last year. Also everything that was already marked down was an additional 50% off. I got a champagne pencil skirt with white dots, with the JCrew $98 tag still on, marked down to $22 + 50% off--$11!!!!! I think it was older, but so cute! Some things are a bit beat up, some are brand new. PLus the accessories store had JCrew shoes, same deal! I got Twyla gold heels for $15!
Anyway--go check it out!!
jrl-
ReplyDeleteMy jeans have NEVER bled! That is weird! I have the same ones--no problems--maybe time to exchange!
I have bootcut jeans and they never bleed. How old are these jeans? Perhaps you could exchange them.
ReplyDeleteI knew it! I didn't think it was right that they bled. Sadly, I don't think it's right to return them now that I have washed them several times. I got the jeans in September on sale. That just stinks.
ReplyDeleteBut it is good to know that I can feel comfortable to buy jeans again if no one else has had this problem. Thank you everyone.
I reread my first comment - I meant "thick fashion magazines". Sorry about that! :-)
ReplyDeleteOT - I got a 10% off coupon at J.Crew shop today as many people talked about. It is valid until 11/30.
ReplyDeleteI swear I posted this, but now I don't see it. The Michigan Ave, Chicago store is not only offering 30% off final sale items, but it's offering an additional 20% off your entire purchase if you buy at least $150. I saved a bundle today!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd if you give your email address, you get a 10% off coupon for your next visit.
I have a link for you JRL
ReplyDeletehttp://www.pburch.net/dyeing/dyelog/B1063361308/C1605100905/E20070619122304/
If you cannot get them to stop bleeding, I completely agree with returning them as defective
Hi all -- I remember some people were looking for the cha-cha dot pencil skirt a while back, it is available on the website (golden olive size 2, british khaki size 4), but you have to find it by searching skirt, it doesn't come up in the regular sale section. It's 39.99. Hope that helps someone!
ReplyDeletethanks shannon!
ReplyDeleteLove- How much did the blue floral skirt a.k.a watercolor schoolgirl skirt cost? Whatever it was, was there the extra 30% off final sale on it?
ReplyDeleteanon @ 12:16
ReplyDeleteI am not sure of the price.. Sorry! But I do know that it was in the sale section and there was only one that I saw there. The sale section had the additional 40% off.
Thanks. Again I never know when to wait for a item to go on sale. If I wait too long it sells out in my size or 8 days after I buy it it goes on sale or promotion...:( bad luck I guess...
ReplyDeleteNot sure what's going on with the site but I can't order anything. When I try to go to an specific item, it shows an error page. I really didn't want to have to go to the store but I guess I am going to have to if I want those cords. :(
ReplyDeleteOMG Jliz,
ReplyDeletethanks so much for the tip!! I will definitely check it out next week!! I don't care if things are last season as long as they fit and look good.
anon @ 12:34 -- here's my way of making sure something doesn't completely sell out. When you add items to you cart, put 99 in the quantity box (the max number it will let you), and it will tell you if there are 99 or fewer items available. That way you can figure out if you can wait for it to go on sale (say if there are 99), or if you should decide ASAP (say if there are 5). :)
ReplyDeletekitchy7- Thanks, I'll try that method. After you mentioned it, I was like why didn't I think of that!
ReplyDeleteIt's really a fabulous method. I also can't believe I wasn't using it 3 years ago. :)
ReplyDeleteauryane - To be honest, I think there is a reason the Julianne is on a serious clearance. There are fit issues. I tried it on long ago because it seemed like a nice, simple cut. I don't remember what the issue with the fit was. But I know that these have been sitting on the racks. All that said, at $30 and not FS, it may be worth a try.
ReplyDeleteJLiz - Thanks for the reminder about Jeremy's! And congratulations on your major score w/the Twylas. :-)
Website problems continue? Really? (no surprise!)
ReplyDeleteHowever, to all fellow Aficionadas...No complaining about order problems after Thanksgiving! We all know JCrew is going to screw up and if you place and order for a gift and there is a problem...well...you've been warned...:) Sad, but true! JCrew did say the problems would continue through the New Year...

ReplyDeleteI like the Juliane - it fits me in the chest, unlike a lot of J. Crew dresses. I wear a C cup, and lots of their items are best for A/B, so maybe that's why others have fit issues. For me, it was TTS.
ReplyDeletejrl, I've had the same problem with the "clean rinse wash" trouser jeans - they've gotten better after washing them inside out and laying them flat to dry. The dark denim look is nice, but the color transfer issue is such that I wouldn't buy any more. Haven't had the problem with any other cut, though - I tried two kinds of trouser jeans and both had the same blue hands problem.
ReplyDeleteauryane, Gigiofca is right about the Julianne dress fit - it's definitely problematic, mostly too big on top and too tight on bottom, so it's not something that could be easily fixed by sizing up or sizing down. But like anon 7:52 said, it may depend on your bust size. At $29 and returnable though, it may be worth the gamble. Good luck!
Laura, I have the Juliets and find them to fit TTS - the midheel is great and I find myself reaching for them more often than my other shoes. On first wear they're a little snug in the toe but after breaking them in they're fine.
Off topic- Does anyone have the Las Palmas handbag? I have been watching it online for months. The available colors are deep yellow, platinum and brown. Priced $149 - $199, not sure what to do. Please post if you have or seen these bags!
ReplyDeleteRe: website issues...last Saturday I placed a pre-order for the Maggie Jacket and was later informed that day that it had been lost. A PS placed another order for it that evening, and I received it on Tuesday. Well, this past Friday I was BILLED for ANOTHER Maggie Jacket (my original pre-order), and then received an email that the order had been cancelled. However, I now have the pending charge for the 2nd order sitting on my CC...SO FRUSTRATING! This kind of mistake should not happen...the CS reps are always very apologetic, but are never able to do anything to resolve the issues...very sad.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteBtw...I want to add that I absolutely ADORE the Maggie Jacket I did receive on Tuesday, and cannot WAIT for the weather to cool down so I can wear it. :)
ReplyDeleteJeremy's sounds awesome, and I certainly wish we had one in NJ. We used to have something similar--it was called the Gipsy Horse, and dealt in all kinds of catalog overstock and discontinued items, J.Crew, Tweeds (remember them?) etc. They were around the block from my apartment in the early 90's, and I was in there all the time. I think internet sales killed them, but I'm glad to see that something like it still exists somewhere. It gives me hope!
ReplyDeleteFFM -- Thanks for posting about double billing. I have never placed a pre-order or waitlist order until yesterday. I had the foresight to put it on my CC and not my debit card. However, I will be watching the CC even more closely than usual until I receive the Victoria. The black stripe is on waitlist until Dec!!!
ReplyDeletekitchy7 - thanks for letting us know that!! I just figured out there are 39 coats left of the Carrie I want!
ReplyDeletenote - I tried on the regular Carrie in store yesterday. It was too big on me - the sleeves were so long I felt like I was playing dress up. I didn't notice if it was too A-line - so I guess that won't be a problem. I'm going to order online now.
FFM: Thanks for the post. That is why I don't place preorders. I was told by CS and another Aficionada that they are not trackable b/c an order number is not given with preorders...with all of JCrew's screw ups I won't invite more with preorders...I will wait until the item shows up online and if I don't get it oh well. There will always be something else to replace what I want/like:)
ReplyDeleteNo preorders for me...won't chance double billing and/or receiving the item twice!
gigiofca and anon@10:07: You're welcome...I should also add that it was never my intention to pre-order...I called that morning once the jackets became available on the website. I could even place it in my cart to checkout, but the CS rep told me they weren't yet available for purchase, and that she would have to fill out a pre-order form for me...WHAT??? That day the jackets continued to be sold from the website, and when I called back to see if my *pre-order* had been processed...I was told it had been *lost in the system*...really frustrating and absurd, IMO. The PS also had the nerve to ask if I wanted to place a pre-order for the Cascading Flowers Astrid, KNOWING that I had just experienced my Maggie Pre-order being lost...that was pretty lame in my opinion.
ReplyDeleteFFM: Thanks again for the additional information. That makes me even more wary of JCrew and their whole new system...esp. preorders being LOST!!!When I learned that preorders don't have order numbers I thought that was crazy...who would want to place an order for something with no way to check on it???
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone own the Corinne Sweater? How does it fit and is it cute?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that a lot of my orders have an "open" status. Will these ever get filled or should I just write them off?
ReplyDeleteFFM:
ReplyDeleteGlad you got your item in the long run. Would you ever try a preorder again?
Hmmm...I never have and am not sure I want to risk it...esp. if the item you want pops up online a day or so later and leaves you wondering "Will I get mine? or Is it lost?" Just imagine if you hadn't called!
The only way you can track a preorder if you order something in stock along with it, then you have an order number to track the preorder with.
ReplyDeletecasual-crew,
ReplyDeleteWill your other items in the order be sent out immediately and then the preorder later?
Thanks.
J.
I own a Corinne in XS Yellow - it is very cute, but I can fit a shirt under it. So I think it runs a bit big. Then again, it is a cardigan style, so maybe meant to be that.
ReplyDeletegigi, silver_lining, and anon:
ReplyDeleteThank you! Actually, based on your comments, the Julianne might work for me. Most J.crew dress are too tight on top and too large on the bottom or me, so the "odd" fit of the Julianne might just work with my "odd" shape. In any case, I wouldn't have taken a risk with it if it was on FS, but since I CAN return it, it's worth a shot. Thanks for the feedback!
KathGrace: I am posting here bc its the most recent post but I was wondering usually how long does your PS takes before sending an email back.
ReplyDeleteI have the polka-dot Julianne dress (purchased at a considerably higher price, though!). I *love* it. I have worn it at least a dozen times, sometimes with a thin patent-leather belt at my waist to give it some shape.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I am just shaped differently (5'7", 140 lbs, 34B, size 2), but I think that this dress is designed to be pretty loose everywhere except the shoulders. I thought that it was actually bigger on bottom than most other JCrew dresses.
There are 2 Jeremy's-- the one in Berkeley has a lot more J. Crew stuff (like 95% of the store) than the one in San Francisco (which had a lot more Anthropologie, if I can generalize). It sounds like you hit on a good week with sales promotions; a lot of the time, you really have to dig because they'll want $99 for a J. Crew cashmere sweater with a fist-sized hole underneath the arm, or $150 for a Lexington jacket with all the buttons gone. It's still a good place though; I go whenever I'm in the Bay area.
ReplyDeleteOT- Neiman Marcus is offering free shipping AT ANY PRICE :)
ReplyDeleteCode: SHIPNM
anon 11:14 - Yes you will receive the instock item, your order will remain open with the pre order item showing the date they are expecting shipment of the item.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading all these posts about Jeremy's I am thinking of trecking down to the Bay Area to check it out. Does anyone know if they also carry J.Crew jewelry and accessories?
ReplyDeleteJeremy's selection of Jcrew varies depending when you go. When I've gone I've mostly seen jackets with missing buttons, cardis (cotton), cashmere sweaters, etc., not so much shoes/accessories. Most are in good condition but probably just overstock. I've never actually purchased anything Jcrew from Jeremy's, because often times the prices are higher than outlet prices, although I have to say when I went to the outlets two weeks ago prices were a LOT higher than I remember them, even with the additional 40% off.
ReplyDeleteanon @ 12:40: I usually hear back from my PS within a day or two. Her name in Jenece and she is AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteFFM: I was wondering why you were calling in your order instead of just placing it online? Is it because of the glitches in the website? I am thinking that maybe I should be doing that as well. Thanks for the "preorder" info. I have never preordered anything before, and now I know that I won't!
non @ 10:23: I have the Corinne in Navy XS. I bought it right after I found this FABULOUS blog and Alexis mentioned that she really liked it! Fit is nice (I wear a white tank under mine) and it is very feminine. HTH. :)
To anyone who can answer this, it may sound like a really dumb question, but what is H&M? I can't figure it out, but have read it in several posts.
Hi All - Just wanted to let you know that I have placed approximately four pre-orders and done about five find-it for-you's over the last 13 months. Every single one has come through for me, even the orders placed during the website troubles. Not bragging, just letting you know that there are not always problems with these services. In my experience, they have worked beautifully.
ReplyDeleteWhat does everyone think of the cloud necklace? I love it but I'm not sure if it would be "too" big. Anyone try it on?
ReplyDeleteWow you know something's going awry when J. Crew is placing ads on Facebook. I was browsing around when I saw an ad for some pumps from J. Crew with the slogan "Indulge Yourself."Is J. Crew trying to target younger customers or something? I'd think not, b/c I don't know many high schoolers who can afford its ever-increasing prices.
ReplyDeleteaudrey - Good reminder about the holes in clothing at Jeremy's. It's so funny when they still want something near top dollar and there's a glaring issue w/the item.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous @ 8:14 - I don't own the Las Palmas, but there is a thread about handbags. Sorry I don't know how to search for that. I *do* believe the bag is unlined and that was one of the drawbacks. $149 is an excellent price, though. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Audrey - Actually, the Las Palmas is lined. I really liked the platinum in person. However, to my eye, the bag is fairly elegant and the yellow did not fit with the other details. It is nice looking, just not as special as the platinum. I did not care for the brown in this bag at all.
ReplyDeleteJcrew Junkie: H&M is an inexpensive Swedish fashion retailer. They are known for fashion foward clothing and exclusive designer collaborations (i.e. Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfield etc) .. very similar to how Target collaborates with designers Over the past several years they have opened stores in the U.S. and Canada.
ReplyDeleteThe quality of their clothing is not the best, but they do offer more European designs.

ReplyDeleteOT- But, if anyone is still looking for the sequined bulldog tee, my local store had several. It's the Towson, MD store. Sorry that I don't know the # offhand!
ReplyDeleteFYI-I thought I should clarify that ordering for ex. the Cascade Floral Astrid (without an item number) would not place it on "waitlist" with an included order number EVEN if you ordered something else with it. These type of pre-orders are hand-written and then input in the system as the product becomes available. This may be risky. I should think it fairly obvious if for any reason one were to be double billed and they would resolve it with a credit to your account. But one does need to be mindful and I agree with FFM~it shouldn't be that way.
ReplyDeleteI will say that we will find it for you has many times sent me double the items. It's as though one store has it and sends it out and then another store also responds because they have it and send it out. That system is not 100% accurate either. Add to that I almost never get the item I am looking for anyway-but the few times it has worked--this has happened to me...not good.
I think one really has to be careful with everything and J Crew. There is so much work to shopping with J Crew whether it is related to size issues, things on sale in stores but not on the site, website/warehouse issues (gotten much better but not officially perfected)..I mean, one really has to want it bad for what they put you through. It becomes a game and some people just don't have time to deal with it all. I unfortunately spend too much time doing so when I SHOULD be doing other things;)
jenn brak,
ReplyDeleteGlad your preorders went well but I am too scared to mess with it esp. since it is in paper form??? What??? That is crazy.
Like Covert5 mentioned you have to be prepared for things to go wrong and FFM had problems with her preorder and I just don't have time nor energy to deal with the likely hood of screwups...I shouldn't even be reading this blog...ha ha...but I enjoy it vs. having to deal with JCrew problems. If people had more success stories and I knew the website was 100% and the preorders were not likely to result in human error...I just don't know...JCrew is so confusing these days:)
Sorry for the stream of consciousness:)

ReplyDeleteConvert: It always worked for me, preorder with an available item, I have not tried it in since Sept. because of JC system issues, and fear of the item being cancelled.
ReplyDeleteTo the poster about the cloud necklace, I just got it today, its very big if you are worried about it being huge (I love big necklaces for the winter so its OK). Not sure on how the ribbon is going to hold up, its not that great a ribbon look wise. The beads are a nice color, however they seem not as weighty or substantial to me as with a lot of my other necklaces from J. Crew. But, for sure, its not for someone who is very petite or not interested in a statement necklace, its very big and bold. As far as be back soon, its coming up for me today on and off.
ReplyDeleteAlso, another note. The person who posted about the "open" status. In my experience, if something is in stock and shown as open for a while, you better check on it, as its most likely stuck in limbo. Be persistant, as many reps will just tell you its open and ready to ship from warehouse when in fact its not going to, its just lost or in a holding pattern that someone needs to block! Hope it helps.
