Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. Did my Black Friday shopping last Tuesday. Checked the website this morning, hoping for an update of the sale section:-((

  3. Not much of an incentive to shop J Crew today as I placed an order last week and the promo has been the same. I was a little disappointed that there werent any little new surprises today. So I’m shopping elsewhere.

I would like to know which 40 stores are closing.

  4. My Tuesday orders arrive today ( other than back ordered rose tee and Cameron plaid). So no store for me unless I do returns. Although I've been doing those more by mail.

  5. After hearing about Ebates for awhile, I finally signed up a while ago. I'm SO irritated with myself! I place several Black Friday orders with the J Crew and other places and forgot to activate it! GEEZ! I guess I'll have to put a big note on my computer to remember!

    1. I do this all the time! I placed two orders on Wednesday and missed out on the 10% Ebates for the first order. I haven't figured out how to remind myself to use it so if you find a way that works, please share!

    2. I think part of it was that shopping at the Crew is a hurried frenzy affair because of pop ups, "only a few left" messages and the general feeling that if I don't act quickly the item will be gone. Shopping at the Crew isn't a nice contemplative time for me...it's "put it in the cart ASAP and hit "order"! I'm hoping that a BIG note on my computer screen will help remind me to look at Ebates, then I will get in the habit.

      Delete
    3. If you use Firefox as your browser, there is an Ebates add on that you can install - when you're shopping on a site where Ebates is available - it will pop up on the screen and you click a button to activate without having to go through the Ebates site. That helps me remember when I'm shopping on my laptop.

  6. I shopped yesterday to avoid the crowds as most stores already had their Black Friday sales going. My money went to Ted Baker and Anthro. Stopped in at J.Crew and wished the Pink Houndstooth skirt a Happy Birthday as it's been sitting there for a full year now, *still* priced at $89.99. Tried on a few wool blazers, I think they were the Campbell model, are they always cut so small? Even going up a size I could hardly move my arms. I had no problems with the cut of the Campbell linen blazers this summer.

    1. I went in on Wednesday and just did a quick walk through. Nothing to buy and nothing I wanted/needed. Going on a long bike ride with the family today in lieu of shopping on Black Friday. Less stress, for sure!

    2. Wendy, that sounds great! My husband and I always do a nice outdoor excursion....hiking, walking the beach, canoeing and going to a tree farm for our outdoor Xmas tree. It's nice to avoid the crowds!

    3. Skipped black Friday and went for a hike with my family as well. I stopped by J Crew today to make a return. Nothing of interest, nothing to buy.

  9. So two things. I received the Factory Tartan Flats. They are slipping off the back of my foot in the smaller of my two sizes. curious to see how these fit others. Reordered in half a size down. Also in taking a second look through the holiday catalog I received, I saw there was a $50 off a purchase of $150 or more using your J. Crew card. It couldn't be combined on the website but I emailed customer service and they were kind enough to apply it to my order. Don't think I will buy anything until after the next rollout as I got the few things I wanted at decent prices.

  10. What did you all buy? I bought the heavyweight chamois shirt for my husband, ordered two sizes of the maxi tartan skirt to try, 3 tissue turtlenecks, gray signet bag and a navy/white striped purse strap, olive green faux fur wrap scarf, tartan puffer jacket and two sizes of the tartan pom pom flats from Talbots because I thought they were cuter than the Crew ones. Also picked up a nice pair of red ankle pants from Target that fit me beautifully (and cheap!) to wear through the holidays. That's more clothing items than I've bought in 6 months! Hope they are all winners!

    1. I bought Madewell jeans and a sweater, a pair of flats from Coach, a pair of Tory Burch flats and Vince Camuto booties from Nordstrom. All on sale of course.

Was definitely looking for shoes more than clothing since I don’t need lots of winter clothes in TX.

    2. I didn’t buy anything at the Crew today as I ordered when the 40% off+free shipping hit earlier in the week, mostly spring/summer popbacks. As for today, I shopped from my bed while sipping a latte, very relaxing! I focused on shoes as I have a loafer obsession right now, so hopefully I’ll wind up with something that fits. I wish I needed a holiday outfit or two but it’s so rare that I get to wear the beautiful stuff I already have, it’s hard to justify anything new.

    3. @StrayCat Nice choices! Please share your thoughts on tartan maxi skirt. I ordered paisley silk pants & a couple of tees (champagne and wine). My store didn't have any of the items in stock. Got a head start on summer & purchased YSL monogram metallic gold flat thong sandals (60% off) @ Nordstrom; it was a unicorn find. Beauty rarely goes on sale, so I also picked up Nars makeup (20% off & Nordstrom price matched), along with Jo Malone London since NM has a promo.

    4. While I didn’t buy anything today I did place a large order on Tues as I was very happy with the promo. I ordered the tartan tiered maxi skirt, the silk paisley top and the fair isle turtleneck for myself and ordered some things for my kids and hubby. @mygoddy, you’ve probably heard by now that the paisley pants are indeed silk I can’t believe jcrew hurt themselves by saying they were poly online.
I was able to pop into a store on Thurs but sadly they had no new items really so I’ll have to wait a while to receive my order and check sizes. They didn’t have the Scottie tee or the deck stripe turtleneck and I still don’t see those online. Does anyone have a style # for the deck stripe turtleneck from the style guide as we don’t even get a guide in Canada.

      Delete
    5. Wait! We received confirmation the Paisley pants are silk? I missed that update. I am going to place an order now. I dumped them from my cart when I read they were poly and the only thing I do really need are pants.

      Delete
    6. JessF, yes they are silk. I received mine on Wednesday and was pleasantly surprised to confirm they are 100% silk. I did quick instastory reviews on Wednesday (they'll be gone now) but I found them to be a bit too short on my 5'8" frame and will be reordering the tall size. Even though they are a drapey pull on pant, I still took my usual size.

      Delete
    7. @Jan I "heard" the good news on IG; thanks for thinking of me. B3380 for deck striped turtleneck tee. Can't wait to see what you think of the maxi skirt. Paisley pants being silk underscores the nonsense of Collection Ratti floral being poly. SMH. Anne, thanks for the review; we're comparable heights, so I may need to reorder in tall.

      Delete
    8. @Mygoddy, thank you so much for the style #! I don’t understand why some items are missing from the site and why some stores are getting things so late. Good point about the ratti pants, that really doesn’t make sense.
@JessF, Glad you can still order with the great promo!

    9. Forgot I ordered a pair of leopard Sam Edleman loafers and a blanket scarf from Nordstoms too!

      Delete
    10. I've experienced a lot of description errors on the site. The new tartan puffer coat is described as being "red and white gingham" which it is not. My confirmation for the tiered maxi skirt was simply called "product short description-please update at the product level"....and I've seen more weird miss labelings of things. Not sure what it is a sign of.

      Delete
    11. thanks for your input on the paisley pants! I'm going to order them now.

    12. I ordered the paisley pants too. They really need to pay better attention to getting the product descriptions right. It really does make a difference.

    13. I bought...nothing! I did enjoy dressing up in my past Crew purchases, however. I would buy the Chateau Parka if comparisons to past versions were not so dim.

Stray Cat, what do you think of the green faux fur scarf? Does it sit well and stay on when moving? It looks like old J Crew to me :)

    14. @jan, I'd also love to hear what you think k of the tartan maxi. I returned last year's and have regretted it since! I really want this one, although the green colorway of the former probably suits me better.

  12. I'm waiting for my tartan cameron pants to arrive. Sperry has a pretty good selection of boots on sale right now. I ordered the Saltwater Sparkle Duck Boot and also a plaid ellison avenue sidney bag from the Kate Spade Surprise Sale.

  13. Just wanted to give an update on the wide-neck fair isle sweater in case anyone is still thinking about this one and able to catch a popback. It's a beautiful sweater in person. The wool is very soft, and the color is gorgeous. I would say that it runs a little big. I ordered my usual medium, and based on the fit in the shoulders/chest I think I would have been able to size down to a small, so it just depends on how you want this one to fit. The only downside is that it is very long. I knew that when I ordered it, but in person it felt longer than I expected. I'm about 5'5", and this was mid-thigh on me, probably 4 or 5 inches below my butt in the back. If it had been shorter, I would have kept it without hesitation, but as it is, I will be returning this one. Hope that helps someone!

    1. I just got my order with the same sweater. I purchased xs and small because I had a feeling it would run big.

The small was just overwhelming. The xs could have been right but the shoulders felt off and the arms were a hair short. Both are going back. I think there will be a lot of pop backs with this one as I think a lot of people will be in between sizes with neither one quite working right.

      Delete
    2. Oh no...I’m 4’11 and ordered an xs. If it didn’t work on you Alison at 5’5....there’s no hope for me 😂.
Miss JR - ugh the dreaded shoulders. I just returned the Topcoat with the wide collar because of the drop shoulders. It looks weird and not sharp like a traditional coat should be. 😞

      Delete
    3. I already returned my fair isle as well. I am 5’5” and typically wear a l or xl. I ordered the xl and it was enormous, very long and big all over. I’m not going to bother trying a smaller size as I didn’t like the wide neck or how wide the sleeves were. Honestly I’m not sure what body type will be able to pull it off.

  15. Hi all,

FYI I was able to apply my online teacher discount code on top of the 40% thanku when I called in to place my order. The CSR said they usually can't stack them but he checked my account and said he could do it out of courtesy :) The best part was, he didn't even ask me for the code (even though I have one)!

  21. I went to the 5th Ave flagship store to buy the navy funnel neck top (sold out online, size down). It was great to see the store hopping and people buying. Same scene at Madewell and Anthro down the street. While there have been quite a number of misses this year (OTS tops, misplaced ruffles), I still managed to find some great buys this fall from previous purchases with great prices: the underrated silk dress in Ratti diamond for less than $50 (size-down), bell-sleeve top in foulard top (TTS), long-sleeve crewneck Ts in slub cotton which I have in 5 colors (TTS), cropped pant stretch chino in rustic olive (as great as my beloved Andies, TTS), boyfriend button-up shirt (the perfect no-brainer button-down ) and of course the unique prints of the Liberty shirts. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the new management will turn things around since the other things out there are much worse.

  22. Hey everyone, thoughts on the Cocoon coat vs Lodge coat? I have the Cocoon (with tags) and I haven't worn it yet. I'm pretty small and even the 00P feels a little overwhelming... I'm reading reviews on the Lodge coat and it seems that it's 1.25 inches shorter and the neck also seems a little more flattering for someone like me. Apparently the Lodge coat is also warmer, which is definitely a plus. Does anyone have experiences with either or both coats?

    1. Hi Diana - I have the first edition cocoon coat in green from fall 2010 or 2011 (?), size 00, only because they didn’t make it in petite (I’m 4’11, 25/26 jeans, xs/s in tops.

I actually ordered the red lodge in P2 (my typical coat size) fits TTS. It’s more tailored, streamlined. The shoulders are cut traditional way, whereas the cocoon is not.
I returned the lodge because I already have a cocoon; I just wanted to try it to see if it’s anything amazing. Oh...one thing I didn’t like about the lodge is the zipper touching my chin; it would annoy me when wearing out. Cold....

I actually ordered the new cocoon in grey (I’m getting it next week). This will be the first time I’m trying the cocoon in P2.
      Good luck! HTH.

  23. Okay, I called a CSR on the VIP line and was hoping to apply the $50 off $150 purchase coupon that I completely forgot about. She told me that the items I had ordered were excluded from all promos (Martie pants...figures...) but that I "should hold off on spending that coupon until tomorrow. The Cyber Monday sale is going to blow this current promotion (40% off ) out of the water!".

So I guess I will wait and see what it is. I have a couple of things in my bag, but I'm curious as to how good the promo could be. She couldn't give me details but said tomorrow is "going to be a zoo" LOL! Whether or not to wait and pull the trigger tomorrow or today will probably depend on how much inventory there is in the stuff you would want. I imagine all kinds of crazy price adjustments will be going on...

    2. While the new promo is nice there is no need for me to purchase anything else Is it really worth the trouble to try to get a price adjustment for the extra 10%? And why have a better promo right after Black Friday so everyone could potentially ask for an adjustment. *sigh*

    3. I might be a little shopped out. There's not much I really must have...

    4. For the mathematicians: it’s 40% off and then a further 10% off, which would make it ...‘scratches head’ ... 44% off....

    5. It's a nice promo but there's nothing want! I keep looking thinking *maybe* I missed something but I'm very blah about everything. I've already ordered and tried what I wanted and it's all going back. :/

    6. I used the new promo 40% off + 10% off and free ship on the Scottie Tee and it worked! Have to wait til next month since it's on back order but it was a really nice promo price. That's the ONLY thing I want with this new promo.

      Delete
    7. I also went to get the terrier tee, only to see that it's short sleeved. Not sure how to make that work for me. If I put a black jacket or sweater over it, you can't see the cute dog and there's no way it will be warm enough to wear a short-sleeved tee in December.

    8. @Mary G. I was thinking of wearing with over the Stewart Plaid and/or Black watch...would look cute with just a simple turtle neck. We also have mild winters in Northern California.

    9. Is it just me or is the mobile site whackadoo? When I go to use the menu it shows about 100 "gift" buttons in between "women" etc. My wishlist won't load properly (shows a lot of code). I'm not in the tech industry but I feel like they need to solve some serious website problems.

While the promo is okay (I was hoping for some 60-75% outlandish promo again), I feel like all the deals are shopped out and they haven't updated it. Like Fleur said it's only an extra 4% compared to what's been offered for days...

    12. Thanks, Wendy. Had not thought about the turtleneck option. I'm old enough to (just barely) remember the 70s trend of putting puffy white long-sleeved shirts under short-sleeved tops and I've never been able to do that style as an adult, although others seem to rock the look just fine.

  25. Took a really long time for me to find anything I liked to hit the button. The satin embroidered Mary Janes disappeared despite having a full size run a few days ago. Ended up getting the plaid marties, rose tee and a tissue turtleneck. So many things were backordered.

  26. A holiday-rwlated throwback. I finally found another opportunity to wear my opera gloves in black from 2008. I'm using them to dress up some other somewhat formal pieces that I use individually for everyday for a black-tie holiday party, meaning I don't have to buy a new dress. I was wondering how old they were, so I Googled them, and read a nice anecdote from JCA Hexicon. Love JCAs. Also love the casual-luxe J Crew that let's me wear nice things one-at-a-time everyday, or altogether for a dressy event.

  27. The new sequin flats with stars have a $30 cheaper base price on the Nordstrom site... $168 vs $198 on J. Crew's site. They're still over $100 at the higher price with promo and I feel like I might want to bite if they were $90, but I have a mental block about paying the $16 difference.

A green one popped back that I couldn't pass up, and I'm trying the red in the new style. If I keep both, some of the ones I own will have to go. Great promo!
