"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Not a vent. I'm in the minority on the new promo, but I like it. I ordered merino wool sweater blazers in cabernet and navy stripe lining, moon earrings and Harlow star cardigan. Also decided to try leopard topcoat (placed order with CS) for fun; this one seems like a better option and a reasonable way for me to try a trend. With promo and stackable coupons, prices are reasonable. Sweater blazers have really good reviews and Harlow cardigan for $36 seems about right given fabric content. It's a fun print & works well with items in my closet.

  2. Vent - if you are not going to ship catalogs to Canada, at least digitize it so that customers all over the world have the option of previewing. Oh, and release the leopard print clutch that was shown it fashion week. My bank account is happy that I am now a minimalist shopper, but I still would like quality.... so disappointed in the direction the brand is going right now.

  3. Has anyone tried the Tweed Loafer Mules? They are now $38.99, so I am tempted, though a little concerned that they were marked down very quickly.

My vent is that I received the Ruffle neck silk top in lip print blouse on popback and immediately sent it to the dry cleaners. It didn't have a good smell at all! Original tags were in tact too.

    1. I reviewed the Loafers on my IG. They are about 80 rows down on the right side. HTH

    2. Thanks Ina! I'm glad I asked as it looks like I need to go up 1/2 size. I think that I will take a chance on these.

  4. Not a vent, but a review on the leopard topcoat. Received it in the mail today and love it!! It's a classic cut with concealed buttons, slit in the back, and slant pockets. It's lined in leopard print and has a small interior pocket. Coloring isn't bright, much more muted, not a in your face animal print. Wool blend topcoat and it fits TTS. I took my normal size 8. I can wear a medium weight sweater under it.

  5. Here's a vent: What happened to their website? It's worse than ever. Way too busy. I don't understand what has come over this company. They had a good thing and now they are destroying it. I'm this close to cutting up my JC card.

    1. The red price lettering all over the place advertising discounts is an eyesore and creates a flea market feel. I thought they wanted to get customers off discounts. SMH.

  6. The new website is absolutely awful, cumbersome, slow and hard to use. I did order a few items today, but I could be done after that. They have their customers so well trained in terms of how the sales work that switching it up is difficult in terms of my shopping habits there... and factory items on the website? No. I e-mailed J. Crew and they gave me some blurb about success with third party vendors bla bla bla but factory is NOT Saint James!

  8. I mentioned to a JCrew store manager today that I hadn't received the latest Fall/Winter catalogs. She told me that JCrew is "steering away from mailing catalogs now since most people just shop on their website".
Also, noticed a small section of J Crew women's clothing in the Nordstrom department store located beside the 'Top Shop' department. Just seemed a bit odd since the J Crew brick and mortar store is already right next door to Nordstrom.
