  1. I got the drapey long sleeve dress in black watch (h3169) today, and it is darling! And it has pockets!!! I was worried about pattern matching since the stock photo shows the plaid meeting oddly on the center seam, but mine looks like the model shot and is nicely aligned. Like other reviewers mentioned, it does fall above the knee, which differs from the model shots, but I prefer non midi dresses anyway. The fabric is a little bit rough and poly-like, though heavier weight, and I dislike that it needs to be dry cleaned, but it's adorable, so all is forgiven. I may wear it to a party this weekend.

    1. Thank you for the review. Do you find dress to be true to size? Some reviews suggest that the dress is tight across chest. I also like skirts and dresses that fall just above the knee.

    2. I usually size up from my normal blouse size in dresses due to a larger bust and that strategy worked just fine here. So I'd say go with your normal dress size.

  2. Reviews: I got three sale items. Black perfect fit turtleneck, black silk ruffle top (the one that also came in the bright fuchsia color and ivory) and the crackled gold loafer mules.
Last year I started wearing the tissue turtlecks under bulkier sweaters as a great base layer, I usually size up to a small. I forgot and ordered this in an XS so it's more fitted but great length.
I had tried the silk ruffle top in a 2 tall and thought a regular might be better but it sold out. The tall is fine. I like that this top is not so billowy through the body so it can be tucked, partially tucked, or worn out. I can see wearing this with my leather Ryder pants for holiday and winter events.
Good loafer mules. I got the smaller of my two sizes (my usual size) and they just fit but the toe area may stretch a bit and they will still work fine at this size. I'm not 💯 sure how I will wear them but they seem to work well with ankle length pants and probably slouchy rolled jeans. I love the crackly gold and although I have lots of glittery shoes somehow I don't have any gold. I like to wear heels to parties but if I didn't these are festive enough.

    1. Thanks for the reviews Suzy! I stalked that black silk top, but waited too long to purchase. It sold out in my size during the sale.

  3. I love the tartan flannel pj set! Even though I thought the price was high in cdn I def am glad I bought them and feel they’re worth it. They are so cozy and the quality seems good. Def much nicer than ones I’ve seen at other stores. I took a small like I always buy in the vintage pjs. They feel festive.
Also, I’m thankful for great customer service. I’ve had wonderful service from phone and email and really love and appreciate jcrew’s Customer service especially at this hectic time of year.

    1. Jan, I love my set, too! It was worth the wait.

    2. That’s great! I’m glad we didn’t have to wait til Dec. :)

    3. I'm grateful for jcrew's great customer service over phone and email too! (the attitude when I'm returning things in store: not so much) getting the service and price adjustments, but also it's really humanising to be treated with respect and politeness, consistently. it does make me feel like a valued customer.

    4. @stripedsocks, well said! I think they are generous with price adjustments and I feel like I have a 'relationship' with Jcrew unlike any other retailer.

    5. I agree the online and over the phone CS at JCrew is remarkable. Its one of the qualities of JC that always brings me back.

    6. Definitely. Love JCrew CS. My longtime partners in fashion fabulousness!

    7. Yes! I sometimes start to take JC's customer service for granted, and then inevitably have an issue with another retailer and think, "J Crew would have resolved that quickly and painlessly." I'm pleased that with all the other cost-cutting measures they are (understandably) taking, CS hasn't seemed to miss a beat.

  4. I got ratti diamond print skirt yesterday and it's amazing! I should have bought it right away but waited until it's final sale and 40% off on the top. I also got V-neck boyfriend striped sweater but that on has to go back. I like colors and material and how oversized and draped it looks at the front but the sweater 'bubbles' too much at the back and I feel like my back looks deformed and too broad.

  5. Yay, Italian cashmere turtleneck worked with bundleup promo and I was able to use my $50 off coupon. This seems to be the one item with consistently good reviews so I am very hopeful.

  6. when my orders placed on 11/2, 11/7, 11/21 show some movement...
when orders placed on 11/28 and 11/29 move from “order placed” to something suggesting delivery might be possible,
    I might show some love.

    1. I agree wff! Order placed on 11/21. Still waiting. Hopefully delivery on 12/1. Ridiculous for in stock items. No wonder the company is hurting.

    2. Just came to post on this! Order from 11/24 is "placed". What is the holdup over there?

      Delete
    3. I just got a “we wish we had enough” email for my order from 11/24. Really?! Almost a week after I placed it. And it was something I really wanted too. So, I called two stores (TWO) and found the item myself. Ridiculous!

      Delete
    4. Also, from what I gathered calling those two stores, their online inventory is way off (if they’re still fulfilling online orders from stores). So, if you are looking for something you might try calling a store.

    5. I just emailed CS to ask they refund shipping charges for the 3 orders I placed 11/21-11/22, all of which should have arrived on or before today. All qualified for free economy shipping but I paid the extra $3 to have the items arrive sooner. I’ve received some pieces, some have yet to ship, some will arrive 12/4.
The refund of the $9 in shipping charges is not the point - the overall ridiculousness of their apparent inability to manage their inventory is the point.

    6. Yes shipping is so slow at J crew and Madewell right now. Other retailers can ship out the next day, so I don't understand how they can be so understaffed this time of year. Nothing I have ordered has shipped yet and it has been a week.

  7. Madewell sent me a little gift today, anyone else?

  8. I've been in my house over 11 years and got a UPS delivery notification today that said my order from 11/21 was delivered and it's missing. I'm hoping the driver is holiday hire and dropped it off in the wrong place since it was 10am and we never get such early UPS deliveries. Sigh.

    1. Good luck @Suz, I hope you find it quickly! It happened to me once where ups dropped my package off two houses down.

    2. Good luck. That sucks when J.Crew packages goes MIA.

  9. J.Crew love moment today: I had a presentation to do so I dressed up more than usual for class. Pulled out my beloved Pippa jacket, layered it over a cashmere T, skinny Gap jeans and my equally beloved Parker boots. One of my classmates said "You're so 'fall at the country club' today, which I thought was cute. Not necessarily the image I had in mind when I got dressed, but I think it showed I had hit chic casual right on the head.

  10. anyone receive a "gift" card via snail mail? $25 off any purchase over $25. did not mention not combining it with other codes or sales. did some people get $50 off?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes, I got a $50 and a $25 (separate mailings) and my husband got a $25. Was thrilled to use the $50 for Italian cashmere turtleneck that finally was eligible for promo. Will probably use the $25 on gifts. No rhyme or reason but I was thrilled!

    2. Last month, I received a $25, $50 and another $25 code. In addition to my $25 b'day reward. I suspect it's because I haven't shopped at JC since March (though I was overseas from Aug-Oct). Still, it's great to be appreciated by JC.

  11. I got the $50 card in my name and the $25 card in my husband's name--he literally has never bought a thing from J Crew.

    4. Seriously, I’m getting a bit jealous of all the high value gift cards being given out lately! C’mon J.Crew, throw me a bone!

  12. Well, I received a survey and a promise for a $25 promo card, so, better than nothing :)

  13. I received two sweaters from the Gap, both ordered right before thanksgiving and now sold out the textured mockneck pullover and mockneck batwing tunic. (They may be available in other colors). I sized up to a small and got the Tall in the pullover since it seemed a little cropped.
I don't want to say "for the price" because my much more costly J.crew chunky Cambridge turtleneck sweaters don't look so hot after a season (granted I do wear them often) but I'm pleased with the fit, feel and style of both. The sleeves on the textured mockneck pullover are long and the body is slightly boxy but it does have a shape, it's not just a square. Both are 50/50 nylon/merino which seems to be the case lately, but are handwashable.

    1. I wore the textured mockneck pullover last night for dinner with my daughter. I absolutely love the sweater. Sometimes I feel like my JCrew sweaters tend to be a little too preppy/conservative looking and this one has the right amount of edge.
