This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I am still upset that the Ceces were cancelled. And I have to laugh when looking at the reviews of the Emmes - it's basically everyone complaining that the Ceces are gone and begging J. Crew to bring them back!

    1. Catherine, I don't know if you saw the post here yesterday but apparently they are bringing back the Ceces! Online only though. Yeah, I don't understand why they would phase them out to begin with. Like my grandfather always said "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

    2. No way!! I didn't see that post - yay! Best news ever! They're honestly my favorite flats, and I will definitely be buying more. :) Thanks for letting me know!

  2. I've been eyeing the navy/white vertical striped sweater that was showing up in some pictures (A Week of Denim - Wednesday, Miller toothpick item page, etc.). It was released in today's mini-rollout (B2240). Of course it has to be a) JC's crappy cashmere, b) $248, and c) have dropped shoulders. Of COURSE. It looks awful on the model.

    1. Thanks for letting me know about the rollout - I would have missed it.

The previous rollout had a few items that are appealing to me - the Harpers (thanks for the reviews everyone!) and the Dulci heels. The Reid jeans look good. The navy dot Collection dress is pretty. Of course the sneakers are fun.

But the new crop of tacky phrase tees and horrendous resin jewelry took a little wind out of my sails. Yuck. Not a fan of all the sweatpants either.

  3. This morning economy shipping wasn't free at $150--it had to be $155. (Of course, my cart was at $154.98)

  4. My local B & M store won't honor the online sale price for the SAME in store full price item. The reason was that they can't honor sale prices for items sold year round....grrr....

  5. STILL pouting they closed the J Crew store in the mall 5 minutes away from my house here in the Chicago area! Not much warning.... just poof! That and sometimes I wish I could open up a current catalog and have it look a bit more like 2007 - I still feel that was one of their BEST years. ;-) Does that make me dated? LOL

    3. 312JCgirl, the Orland Park store closed over a year ago. It was my local store and I had shopped there since it opened. I miss the wonderful sales associates and I'm still mad about it closing.

    4. Ah, yes, I remember that. I had never visited that store. I thought they had closed another one. Thanks!

  6. I see that Inspector Clouseau is still consulting on the "French" tees. Latest offender: Crewcuts Collectible tee, item b1116. The puzzling expression reads: "J'aime le Citi."

I wondered if they mean Citibank, which is a decent bank as banks go, and can even be helpful. They made a big thing out of spelling Citi that way. To look at my checking account I go to www.myciti.com. I must say I don't find that banks inspire passion or even affection.

Perhaps they meant la Cité? If so they got the gender wrong, and the spelling, and are a little mixed up about the meaning of the word as well. Cité used to mean a city that ruled itself, the example most often given is Sparta. Today Cité means a defined district within a city - for example the Cité Universitaire. And, since language is organic and nothing changes faster than slang or >argot, the word has gathered another, more colloquial, meaning - it has been used in conversation to mean "the projects," that's what would be called a housing estate in England, or by a stretch, it can also mean da ghetto. Perhaps Inspector Clouseau was trying to sound cool. You know, like a Kool Kat.

    1. Well Fed Fred - truly hilarious. Many thanks for the giggle. Even if not so poorly done I can't stand phrase T's. The French phrase T's are the worst - very embarrassing.

    2. This one is particularly annoying because it's in kids' sizes. At the least, it's setting a bad example.

  7. I was told the following about charge and send orders by a J.Crew VPS:
"Regarding send-sell orders, stores no longer take orders over the phone per security reasons." I had tried to order the Evie metallic sandals from a Georgia store since they're much cheaper there than online. The stores I go to in NJ don't carry them. I called the GA store about a week ago, but they refused to sell them to me because of security reasons. I offered my JC Credit card number which could be verified with my billing/shipping address, but they refused. Then I contacted an online VPS. Has anyone else heard this?

    1. Yes, about a year and a half ago from the Short Hills, NJ store. Utter nonsense, what's the security issue in sending merch to MY SHIPPING ADDRESS WHICH IS THE SAME AS MY BILLING ADDRESS ON MY JC ACCOUNT WHICH YOU CAN GET OFF YOUR ANATOMY AND LOOK UP TO VERIFY

Well as you can tell the conversation didn't end pleasantly.
