This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Chatted with a CS rep last week and she told me about some of the Cece colors that are coming out - black, navy, plum (maybe? I might have misheard her), some metallic colors including metallic platinum. Can't wait, she says they're due October 15!
ReplyDeleteAnd now a non-J.Crew related question - has anyone tried any of the Banana Republic Roland Mouret dresses? They look and sound amazing, I was wondering if I should snap one up. Thanks!
Metallic platinum! Ooh boy. Also interested in the plum. Wish they'd put out a mustard.
DeleteI won't be going, but I have been watching the online sale section this week and there were a lot of new markdowns added to sale. I've noted them at the top of this post for those interested. :)
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of sale...I highly recommend the Pajama set with pocket crest, which is at a fantastic price with the extra % off right now. The cotton is incredibly soft and extremely comfortable to wear, and the menswear silhouette is designed to be flattering to the female form. They do run big so size down at least one size. There are a couple of sizes available right now, and I have seen popbacks of all sizes over the past couple of weeks, as well.
I'm stopping in to get a price adjustment on a top I got 2 weeks ago at full price that is now more that 50% off. That's really the only reason I'm going.
ReplyDeleteThe PA is given at 7 days or less....I hope you get it but in-store can be tricky....please let us know how it goes. What top was it..if you don;t mind me
Deleteasking ?
Hi Unknown, I ALWAYS get a price adjustment at my two stores. It does not matter to them if it's in the 7 day time frame or not. They are very conscious a 7 day limit it's a stupid policy...it's wasteful of everyone's time and energy not to mention shipping fees, etc. to return things and reorder them. The Crew has a chronic problem with this. I'm a very good customer, know them all personally, never demand and am always very polite and thankful. I don't know if they do this PA thing just for me (or other nice customers) or for everyone. I think it's a selective decision. I don't abuse it. My PA's are usually within a 2 week period, which I think is reasonable. If I order online it's takes 6 days to get to me. Then if the item goes significantly on sale right after I get it and it takes me a couple days to get to the store, I don't think I'm asking something unreasonable. I believe I started getting PA's in store when I was discussing an experience of requesting one with Online Customer Service. I got it but with the "this is the only time" threat. My store SA told me "just come here, we'll be happy to do it for you". They're smart. They get me in the store to possibly buy or see something else I want, keep a relationship with me, make me happy....isn't that what customer service is supposed to be?
DeleteDoes anyone know if there's an extra percent off sale in-store? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteEngineer L - Addtl 25% off final sale in-store.
DeleteYesterday they wouldn't do 40% off of the item I wanted to purchase. She wanted to charge me the higher, online sale price less 40%, instead of taking 40% off the in-store sale price. I left it there.
Thanks, Gigi. I can't believe they wouldn't price match! J.Crew is so ridiculous sometimes.
DeleteGood for you, Gigi. I don't know what they are thinking refusing to price match. Customers are very well educated now; why would anyone pay more for an item when shopping in the store when it is less online? Just about everyone has a smartphone and can check the price. I was told the same thing at the Gap recently ("in store prices are different than online" was the explanation) and I walked out without the sweater. I don't need anything that bad!
DeleteI shared this in the Like Retailers thread, but since J Crew's trench dress in Super 120s (review) was such a bust I want to share i here, too. Thumbs up on Ann Taylor's trench dress.
ReplyDeleteI might try to convince my husband to go to the factory store tomorrow on our way home from our nephews' birthday party. I have so many items on my factory wishlist that I'm hoping are in my store.
ReplyDeleteAlong those lines, the styling at Factory is making me want everything. I am trying to resist the camo vest, which is funny because last year at this time I was not a fan of all the camo options, and now I can't get enough of them. The email today about the CARDPERK code at Factory has me wanting that sweater too (along with a card).
I was at the Seattle (Tulalip) Factory store recently. The only item that I was the least bit interested in was the vest...the colors are all nice !
DeleteI did not find the store well stocked di not see any New items that were eye catching and sale section was Tiny..maybe they got more in for the weekend but it was looking rather bare and no one in store shopping....so lots of vests in all colors available.....
I have a camo vest on its way to me! I am a bit sad though because I bought it NWT on eBay when the vests were more on the factory site, now they are $79 (I paid $80 shipped for mine) and if I would have known that I would have waited since the one I ordered is a medium and I could really have used a small.

DeleteI went to Copley (Boston) yesterday. 25% off the tiny sale selection.
ReplyDeleteA few things. First, my overall impression of the new stuff is that it is very subdued. I like navy and cabernet, but there was very little pattern or texture to elevate the looks. Particularly because the August styles are "drapey", I hope there are more tailored looks forthcoming.
Second, the store was chock full of "basics", particularly toothpick and matchstick jeans. Suiting and knits too. Our collective concern might be unfounded. I even worried that the reverse might be true - all the basics and subdued colors might make the fall collection a little boring.
Finally - shoes. To my surprise my favorite was the scalloped Dulci's - they were the best fitting as well. Very flattering. The flat D'Orsays were stiff and uncomfortable. The suede Harpers will make many feet look wider than they are. As others have noted, the sizing is going to be tricky this season. Rather than just sizing up (as I and many others have done for the last few seasons), many of us are going to have to choose between our regular size (which may be snug) and the larger size, which will be too large. I'll probably choose the smaller of my two sizes in the Dulci's.
Cousy - I am in love with the Dulci's kitten heels, too. I ordered size 5.5 and it was slipping off my feet. I am usually a 5.5, but i will try size 5 to see.
DeleteFactory - CARDPERK gets 25% off your purchase w/J. Crew card. Also good in-store. Ends Sunday.
ReplyDeleteEnds Sunday, August 17th. :)
DeleteI wonder if J.Crew will offer a % off full price item, soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to stop by at my B&M. Returning the collection iridescent rose top. Wish I can keep it but its the wrong size on me, and size 0 is sold out online.
correction: size 0 is available, but I'm not buying it at final sale.
DeleteHoping for a percentage off full price as well
DeleteOT -- Any JCA know the usual drill of promotion for Madewell full-price items (I'm eyeing some of their jeans)? When and how much discount does Madewell usually offer on their full-price merchandises?
ReplyDeleteThanks and have a good weekend~
Hi Elaine - in my experience (and other JCAs will probably chime in), Madewell global promos (like, 25% off your whole purchase) are few and far between, like maybe once a season. They tend to either do a % off sale, or % off "select styles" (like dresses or sweaters). Because the jeans are free shipping and free returns, I'd take advantage of that to try out styles and then wait it out for a promo if you want. A lot of the time, Madewell's pieces go to final sale upon first markdown so I find that I'm paying FP more often to avoid the final sale altogether. HTH!
DeleteYup. Like silver_lining said, FP promos are pretty rare. Every once and a while, they may email out a $25 off coupon, but otherwise it's mostly a select styles or extra % off sale promo. It sucks, but that's how it is with Madewell. They make up for it with free shipping though, at least in my book.
DeleteYea, I usually have things sitting in my cart, just waiting for a % off promo. By the time the item is on sale, I'm often no longer interested in it and I won't by Final Sale.
DeleteCertainly saves me a lot of money. Although, I wish Madewell would do more promos.
I think classic denim styles probably won't go on deep sale. For example, I was interested in a classic pair of white jeans a few months ago, and my size sold out at full price. However, I was able to buy this more trendy grey pair on a whim for $21.99. I also got lucky recently and got this dark blue pair online for $17.99. Granted, I didn't wishlist either style; I just found them while browsing the sale section. Ultimately it depends on whether you're willing to wait and risk that style/size selling out.
DeleteIf you live near a Madewell store, I would recommend getting friendly with one of the SA's and get on the store's mailing list. Every few months they do a fun in-store promotion (usually on a Thursday or Friday evening). My local store just had one last week for the new fall merchandise (20% off minimum $125 purchase). They even had a local eatery provide delicious ice cream for the customers.
DeleteI got my Fall Rewards today and it expires on 9/15. Why do these things have an expiration date? I feel like it forces me to buy sooner than when I want to.
ReplyDeleteIn the past when I've gotten rewards cards and haven't felt like I was going to use them before their very limiting expiration date, I just used them to buy a regular gift card in the same amount. :)
DeleteI'd love to know what the new minnies in spinach are like. The color looks great, but online reviews suggest that the material is cheaper than in previous years. I'm also curious about the collection luxe silk crepe top. Is it sheer in the ivory?
ReplyDeletepicked up the turner pant in hidden floral, navy merino v neck cardigan, and a new camo button down (it's selling fast!)
ReplyDeletehmmm.........camo buttondown ? where or when did I miss this ?
Deleteanyone have a clue or item #
Unknown, I'll post an item number as soon as it gets to me (it's being shipped) but it's pictured on maisonkmv's blog. Here is the link: http://www.maisonkmv.blogspot.com/2014/07/dont-you-just-love-new-stuff.html
Deletewow...thanks for the link to her blog. It was fun going back to last fall....seeing her styling pieces. It made me appreciate that I have some of those pieces (from last year) and will enjoy them this season.
Delete**** check out the instore photos....really great. I particulary like the one where the majesty pea coat is styled like a cape. I am looking forward to trying this...
i saw the camo shirt in he store today and it is very nice. I didnt try it on,but it looked TTS.
DeleteHTH
My VPS actually recommended going a size down, I got the 4 instead of the 6 (my normal size). I'll post a review as soon as I try it on!
DeleteItem number is B0902 and it is part of the september catalog (site update on august 20th). Retails for $88.
DeleteI might make it to a store to return a couple things but that's about it.....no more buying for a while. Also, I wanted to rave about how cute and comfortable the Vans slip on shoes are! I bought they Hibiscus Floral printed ones and I love them! They are marked down to $50 and with the promo are only $30. If you order make sure to size down 1.5 sizes as they are Men's sizes (even though they are in the women's section).
ReplyDeleteKind of a meh promo. I can wait.
ReplyDeleteOh, CFS...never change!
ReplyDeleteThe best, absolutely the best... And don't everyone's pajama pants have a tailored waistband and sharp creases?
DeleteSo, if they are that tailored, doesn't it make them just . . . pants? But I'll buy them if they actually come with Michael Fassbender . . . okay, he could just deliver them in person ;-)
DeleteCFS and Fassbender smoked. That's why those pants are $475.
DeleteHe or she has really, truly lost it.
DeleteHah!! That's the funniest one I've read yet. Someone needs to send a screen cap of that page to Michael Fassbender.
DeleteThis has to be a practical joke that slipped by the same copy editor who misses all the foreign language mistakes due to an inexcusable lack of google prowess. Alexis, I hope you might immortalize this in a separate post, as I have a feeling sobriety will kick in on Monday and this copy will vanish! ;)
Deletewhat am I missing ? what are you referring to ? sorry to be late to the party but I missed the spelling or grammer error somewhere ????
DeleteHaha! Wish I wake up with Michael Fassbender next to me. :-P
DeleteThese product descriptions have taken a life on its own. It should have its own blog: posts full of smart, sarcastic remarks about anything and everything.
Oh that was good!! You ladies kill me:) def deserves it's own post. Unknown scroll up to silver_linings link and enjoy the CFS's prod description.
DeletePure poetry.
DeleteThis one brought out Closet Crisis! Aw yeah!
DeleteThis one may be CFS's best work yet! Thank you for giving me a laugh.
ReplyDeleteI was at the Sherway Gardens (Toronto) store yesterday and they had a lot of jeans.
ReplyDeleteWhat caught my eye was the silk sleeveless blouse...just beautiful. Wish listed for me.
A small sale section, lots of tanks and tees on sale, no sale shoes, but they did have some of the new shoe styles...the suede D'Orsay flats and the Scalloped Harper flats.
All of the jewelry was 25% off, with a few nice necklaces in the sale section (additional 25% off sale items).
The funnel sweatshirt looked cute, nice thick fabric, and looked like a great fall buy.
Came home empty-handed, however.

ReplyDeleteI actually saw a couple things I like in store. The "grandpa" cardigan (don't now what the Crew calls it) another wooly ribbed sweater. alot of navy and wine colors. I like that. Wasn't in the mood to try on. Saving that for another day. It's in the 90's here....can't quite think about fall yet!
ReplyDeleteA review of the Collection Inky Floral Top here HTH!
ReplyDeleteVisited 2 Suburban Chicago Stores. Sales Sections Were Picked Over, But 40% Off.
ReplyDeleteMuffy- what stores did you visit that had the 40% off? And I don't remember who posted the info, but a Chicagoland store closed? Do you know which one? I haven't been to a store in a couple of weeks, so very curious! TIA!
DeleteIt was the Orland Park store that closed that was being referenced but that closed a while ago not recently.
DeleteI stopped in at Northbrook Court and Deer Park on Saturday both were 40% off - Final Sale. I was surprised - thought all B&Ms had changed to 25%. Lake Forest had 25% off signs posted mid-week.
DeleteThey got rid of 40 off online? Bummer. I had a few t-shirts I wanted to order. Oh well. Hoping they bring it back soon.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have a VPS to recommend? I requested sale items last week that restocked after 40% off ended. VPS is sending them at the new price. Old VPS honored the price on the day requested. Many thanks for any recommendations. Ericaschwab at hotmail dot com.
ReplyDeleteNew promotion. 25% off select items through the 14th.
