This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent"
posts), where we can share our finds from other
retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew
(like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann
Taylor, and the like.)
If you
have recently encountered items that are similar to
J.Crew, maybe you might be
willing to share that information with us
in this post.
Please feel

ReplyDeleteA few LOFT reviews here.
A few mini-reviews from my monthly budget post here.
ReplyDeleteBoden. I saw well over 2 dozen items that look like classic J Crew. Fun, colorful options. Explore the site and you will see what I mean. I still prefer JC's stadium coats for our harsh winters, but there are many work and casual offerings that I like at Boden. Quality wise, it's on par with JC. Never thought I would say that, but there it is. Sizing is similar to JC.
ReplyDeleteTruly love BR's zip pocket Sloan pants. I ordered a 12 and 14 to make sure there was enough room in the butt, hips and thighs and the 12 fit fine (I am 5'8''). I usually buy a L/XL in knit leggings/pants depending on the brand but with weight fluctuations I was a little scared of the slim fit not working for me (I have not tried JC's pixies but the minnies have not worked for me EVER) but I am in love with the Sloan and will definitely try a different color. I think the 14 would stretch out too much and not fit like I want them too after a few wears (at least that is my hope b/c I am keeping the 12).
ReplyDeleteI actually love quite a bit of BR's new line. I think Lady Webb is doing her thing over there!
@Rashawnda - just had to share the Sloan love - I am the same height and a size 12 as well and I am a HUGE fan of the BR sloan pants...I haven't tried the zip pocket ones but I wear the black and navy ones all of the time and have a few of the patterned ones. I've gone up to a 14 in the lighter colors ( I find that they're not as forgiving in the lighter colors and I do wear a belt with them...they do stretch a bit but nothing that a spin in the dryer can't help out). The only downside of them is that they need to be dry cleaned. I haven't attempted them in the washer but my MIL works at BR and said she ruined a pair in the washer so I haven't attempted it. They just came out with a straight leg Sloan as well which I ordered and I have my eye on the cabernet ones as well :)
DeleteEarlier this month I mentioned that the GAP Military Parka looks like a nice alternative to the Boyfriend Fatigue Jacket, especially for those of us who love the J.Crew version but would like it to be made in another color again. I ordered the GAP version to try and posted a review of it on my blog yesterday. Click here to see my review.
ReplyDeleteI have shared numerous J.Crew-like items in another one of my "You Look Very Familiar...Have I Seen You Some Place Before?" posts which can be seen here. Included this week are alternatives for the collection paisley blouse, floral-stripe tee, perfect shirt in buffalo check, and cropped sweatshirt, just to name a few. :)

ReplyDeleteHey, all. Stepping away from the Boden updates this week (not really any!), but I did buy a few Madewell items on sale recently and had a chance to wear them out a few days back. I love the three pieces I bought (the Delancey slouch trousers, the linen piscine tee, and the slide sightseer sandals) and am thrilled I was able to get them at a great price (bought during an additional % off sale time).
ReplyDeleteIn addition to the Madewell items in that post, I also received the PURE collection catalog yesterday and there are some very pretty staples in the fall collection. I picked my five favorites from the catalog. Sadly my budget severely limits any PURE shopping now, but I think I need to save for at least one or two of the items in their latest rollout.

Talbots is having 25% off all regular priced items through Sept. 7. I got their fall catalogue the other day and saw several things I liked. I stopped by today and got the Cashmere Tattersall Plaid Scarf ($139 - 25% off) and matching rain boots ($99 - 25% off) in the bisque/indigo blue. Classics that I think I'll wear for years. They also have a matching umbrella and a rain hat… might have to go back for the umbrella, which was like $35 (I think).
ReplyDeleteAs peeved as I've been with Anthropologie lately, they had a huge set of markdowns today, and are also offering an additional 20% off sale items right now.
ReplyDeleteKate Spade Outlet - Review on 1060 Pairs of the 2 Park Avenue Babe, an XL tote. I saw it at the outlet a little over a week ago.
