J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Melissa@AllThingsSimplified & Wendy (in this post), who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The AUGUST catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest SEPTEMBER catalog is not. As mentioned by several JCAs, J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

This time around I was able to find a lot more items I am excited about. My top picks are:

Polka-dot flannel shirt (item B0958; $88.00): I don't need another polka dot button down. However this one looks super nice and super cozy. Perfect for Fall!
Shattered print dress (item B0080; $138.00): I love the print and length on this skirt. I can't wait to try this one on!

Sophie Plaid loafers (item A9808; $138.00): Just look at them, the plaid print is gorgeous!!!

Two-floral scarf (item B4114; $55.00): The print, with the pop of royal blue trim, is so beautiful and screams Fall to me. This one is mine!

Can I just address the issue about skirts. I have been complaining for quite some time about the need for some more lovely-print, knee-length skirts from J.Crew. I don't care for the pleated versions they have been rolling out lately (pleats are trouble for me to maintain). The only skirt I bought in the past year from J.Crew was the Patio Skirt in Photo Floral. More of those types, pretty please!

Also, J.Crew is offering 25% off select styles with promo code SHOPNOW. Items online will be marked "25% Off With Code SHOPNOW" on the item page. This offer expires August 25, 2014. There will also be free shipping on all orders placed today too! This offer expires today, August 20, 2014.

"Thanks!" to Wendy (in this post),who let us know that J.Crew credit card holding customers can take an additional 20% off Crewcuts items using promo code CARDSHOP. Customers need to use a J.Crew credit card as payment for the code to work. This offer expires September 15, 2014.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

  2. I picked up the style guide at my local factory store yesterday. Much to love--for one, I am thrilled to see (and have already ordered) a new houndstooth schoolboy. I am not a fan of the new Regent blazer; it is not at all feminine, and I have already returned the one I tried. Beautiful shoes too!

  3. as a crazy j. crew jewelry person, I'm surprised by the streamlined look present in the new additions with this rollout. the simple gold necklaces and the abundance of cuffs is an interesting change - maybe to jive more with the high-fashion tomboy vibe of the august and september catalogs? not complaining at all, just intrigued by this new direction. wonder how long it lasts!

  4. This probably belongs in the reviews, but I am mentioning a couple of items here as they are on the current promotion.

I just received the pleated 120s skirt yesterday and am very happy with it. I did go with the smaller of my 2 skirt sizes as I think it runs a bit large. For reference, the 4 in this skirt fits like my flair skirt in a 6.

The pleating is soft and I will probably steam the lines out completely as they aren't defined at all. The one review mentions the skirt being short, but it hits me just at the top of my knee and I am 5'4". For me that length makes it sweet and not too school girlish or matronly as a shorter or longer length would have done.

I also bought the abstract peacock top. I didn't give it a second look online, but in person, it is really nice and the details are pretty. I bought the larger of my two sizes as I wanted a fluid fit to wear with skinny jeans and a relaxed cardigan, but it still looks fine tucked in with more dressy clothing.

I really like the shirt with the clocks and the boyfriend coat from this rollout

  5. And I missed that scarf. I NEED that too...

  6. Oh. My. I looove the silk paisley shirt.

I may have some other comments on other items, but that shirt is restoring my faith in J.Crew, so I'm just going to keep contemplating it for a while.

    1. It's gorgeous and so versitile. I just hope for the price it is a substantial silk, and not the thin, see thru stuff JCrew has been providing in recent years.

  7. I don't wear much pattern but that paisley shirt is speaking to me. It's saying "buy me, I'm gorgeous." The Maddie pant looks amazing, and there's a camel shade. I'm all about camel for fall. I live in Arizona yet I want the double cloth car coat. The silhouette is amazing. Dying over the asymmetrical zip pencil skirt!!!!! I love this so much. I haven't found this much to love in a roll out in ages. I'm excited to place an order!

  8. I'm a little confused by the Dannie pant - it looks exactly like the Minnie with the zipper in the back, rather than the side? I haven't seen it in person so I'm going based off the online pictures.

The asymmetrical zip pencil skirt looks amazing, but the normal No 2 skirt is cut so straight up and down that it looks horrible on me. Hoping this one fares better.

    1. I wasn't sure what to think about the Dannie pant either. It looked more like the Pixie in the style guide, especially with the exposed back zipper. The back pocket sizing, styling and placement seems oddly reminiscent of JBrand skinny jeans.

  9. The Sophie plaid loafers can't be sold in or shipped to California. Prop 65, ugh! Note that they're online only. I think these might sell out quickly.

    1. Do you know how they violate Prop 65?

    2. This was the one thing I was going to buy now from this roll out. UGH! Of course they can't shipped to LA. Great. :(

    3. These are the only thing I wanted, too! I'm trying to think of who lives out of state who can get them for me....

  10. I'm interested to try some of the new pant styles (Maddie & Dannie) and am also curious about the Campbell pants transitioning to wool. I really like the leather piped Campbells and will be trying those out in the tall version. I also really like the two-toned houndstooth Harper flats as well as the houndstooth schoolboy blazer. A few of the dresses caught my eye too but I have nowhere to wear them, namely the grosgrain lace dress and the daisy jacquard dress.

That paisley print is gorgeous - I would love to see it in a skirt.

  11. Surprisingly I do like more than I thought I would. I'm definitely going to try the Maddie in Navy. I've been waiting for a pair of Navy pants for work and they might fit the bill. The jewelry is more simplified and wearable on a daily basis. There's more wearable and practical items for Fall. This rollout is not bad at all!

    2. I think that there are definitely some cute pieces. Personally, I'm glad that I only really like a couple of things because then I can probably order them all. As always, looking forward to seeing some IRL pics and reading JCA reviews - your feedback is so helpful!

    3. I like quite a few things too. Agree with others that the paisley blouse is gorgeous, and so is the paisley shirtdress. Hoping I can catch them on deep discount eventually. I do like the sterling jacket too, but really wish it didn't have the shiny gold hardware. I was hoping to see the burgundy sweatshirt that Ina shared a pic of on her Instagram, but I don't think it made it online this time.

    4. Hi Melissa - I think that sweatshirt is online. Check out item b1473. HTH!

    5. Thank you silver_lining! I couldn't tell that it had the side zippers in Ina's photo. Not so sure that I'm liking that added detail too much...wish they would have made it without them.

    7. The sweatshirt i am wearing in the pic is the one with zippers.
I have to say, that i never liked the sweaters from previous years that had zippers.I found them to be uncomfortable.I dont find that at all with this sweatshirt. It is comfy, the length is great! Just make sure to size down.
It looks great with my pixies, toothpicks and also with the pleated skirt in quarz.HTH

    8. Thank you Ina. The sweatshirt looks really pretty on you, and I love the color, too! Glad to hear that it's nice in spite of the zippers. :)

  13. For those interested, even though it's not noted on the sale homepage, the extra 25% off SHOPNOW code also applies to the promo-priced and final sale items. There are a lot of new promo-priced items this week, and I've updated the promo & final sale markdowns list with the new additions.

    See the List Here.

  14. Is it just me, or are there fewer outfits in the 'Looks We Love'?
I always look forward to seeing these when there is a new roll-out.

I think Silver_lining is right, Melissa. The sweatshirt in Ina's photo looks a lot like the Zip Tunic Sweatshirt. And it's included in the 25% off promo, too!

    1. I was just going to say I was surprised there are 11 'Looks We Love' rather than the usual 10. I wouldn't mind if they did more.

    2. Ah, I've never counted them. Maybe it's just the different format, makes it seem like there are fewer looks.
I really do love seeing styling ideas.

      Delete
    3. I was also curious why they changed it to a scroll down format instead of the slides. Maybe people were having trouble loading the other format on their devices?

  15. The collection ochre floral skirt might be my chance to make up for missing the Gallerista skirt.
That, and looking forward to buying a cashmere turtleneck in heather acorn (on sale, bien sur!)

  16. The Double Cloth Car Coat is so cute. Good thing it doesn't come in petite. No way should I spend $300+ on it, but if it came in petite, I'd be seriously tempted.

  17. Alexis-
I just purchased the Two Tone scarf (B4114) and it is so pretty! My store only had one left.

  18. I was so entranced by that paisley silk blouse that I ran down to the store for a closer look.

The silk has a crepe-like finish, more like the first issue of the hearts blouse or the horizontal stripe blouse. Def not see-thru.

The collar has rounded tips. It reminded me of the collar on Everlane's silk shirt, which you can check out on Everlane.com. Look for "silk shirt rounded collar".

The printing of the pattern is crisp and precise, not blurry. There were no glaring pattern misplacements, but I didn't try it on. There seemed to be more different colors in the design than I was able to distinguish from the shot on the website. This is a good thing. The pattern is composed of many different patterns. Some if you will like some parts of the pattern better than others.

    Welcome back, J.Crew!

  19. I didn't see anything that made me push the button this minute, but I am really happy to see the Maddie and Minnie pants offered in bittersweet chocolate. Some of us were just posting about how much we wanted to see some deep brown.

Can anyone comment on the fit of the Maddies? They look different than the wide-legged pant that went by the same name.

    1. Thanks Hexicon, I did not notice that the Minnies came in bittersweet chocolate, so I just placed another order. And when I had looked at the Maddie's in Petite in that color this morning they are backordered until Nov 7, 2014.. I had ordered the Downington tote in brown and pale goldstone, both on sale with 25% off.

    2. I was THRILLED to see the Minnies in brown & I am loving the Maddie in that purple tone. Curious to see the shade in real life. I'll definitely order the Minnies since they're part of the promo & I know exactly how they fit. Also looking forward to trying the wool Campbells.

    3. Yay for chocolate brown! Do you think all of our venting caused Jcrew to make brown pants? I like to think it did! Now if they will just put belt loops on the Campbell capris my work here will be done!

    4. I ordered the Minnies - the store I went to didn't have any of the Maddies to try & since the Minnies are on promo AND I know how they fit I figured they'd be the safe bet esp with the free shipping today!

  20. I like the...

Wool Melton Boyfriend coat in grey
    Voile Popover in polka dot
Drapey Wool Sweatpant in heather charcoal
Georgie Fabric Tassel loafers in dark onyx

I am interested in the new pants they released. I would have to go to the store to get a feel for it.

I am excited to try on the Melton Boyfriend coat in grey since I've been wanting a grey coat. I like how it looks on the model, hoping it will be a love for me.

    3. Hi maryeb - I ended up returning the navy yesterday and am about to order the grey. Thought I would size down to a 4, but you raise a good point, so will probably stick with my regular size, 6.

  21. I'm still perusing, but doesn't the Marled Rib Stitch Open Cardigan look just like the Bonfire Cardigan from several years ago? I remember that one got marked down to like $20 b/c it didn't sell well, although I myself liked it for some reason and am sorry I didn't grab it back then. I'll definitely wait this one out, but it sure looks the same to me.

  22. The Shattered Print dress is cute, Alexis! It reminds me of a print from MIUMIU or Marni. I can imagine how nice it would look seeing it in person.

  25. I decided I needed a bit of education on wool since I was curious about fabric of the new wool melton boyfriend coat. The new duffle coat also uses melton wool. I found this helpful wool guide online:

    http://www.sierratradingpost.com/lp2/wool-guide/

Here is the relevant exert on melton wool: "Melton wool is thick with a smooth surface. The wool is napped and very closely sheared. Melton wool makes a very solid cloth due to the finishing processes that completely conceal the weave. It's durable, wears well, and is wind resistant."

I'm guessing the boyfriend coat might be a lighter weight melton wool since it is much less expensive than the duffle coat. Of course, I don't know how much cost differential might be factored into the design details as well, since the duffle coat has added features.

I'm also curious how the warmth of the melton wool compares to the stadium cloth.

  26. I visited J. Crew to check out the Arquiste fragrances. My impressions of 31, 57 and other items right this way, JCAs.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think the stadium cloth cocoon coat came out in the last mini rollout, but it just dawned on me that they changed some features.

    1. It looks like they added an extra (reinforcing?) seam along the outer edges around the collar and down the front opening of the coat. There is also extra seaming on the sleeve cuff and back middle seam.
    2. The inconvenient top entry pockets are gone and in their place are side entry pockets.
    3. It's about two inches longer than last year's version.

I have last year's version when they introduced petite sizing and have been quite happy with the styling and warmth it provides. For $15 extra dollars this year, the added seaming and side entry pockets add sophistication to the coat, but it does look a little bulkier in the product and model photos, maybe due to the extra length?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Has anyone seen the asymmetrical skirt in store? I'm trying to determine the weight of the wool. Is it the same as double serge, or is it like super 120s?

I took a L - I think they fit more snug than the excursion vests, likely due to the extra bulk. I did not expect to love this...

  31. Love love love the Collection paisley shirtdress. I can see why it is selling so fast. Alas, it is out of my price range. Maybe I'll go for the blouse.

Is it me or are all the zippers getting a little old? I have liked them and have some zippered items but it is a trend that has gone on for a while. It's not just J Crew - they're everywhere.
