J.Crew Factory Exclusive Early Access: Shop new arrivals before everyone else

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the following news/email from J.Crew Factory with us.

J.Crew Factory is offering a sneak peek at the latest arrivals with prices up to 30% off! They are also throwing in free shipping (no min!). Both these offers are just for today! So check your email to see if you got the invite and code.

Is it just me, or is the theme this time around "horses"? I have the original sweatshirt version in both colors. It was really hard to track them down too. They sold out at regular J.Crew without getting marked down. I should have known that J.Crew Factory would have its own version. It would have saved me a lot of time! ;)

In all seriousness though, the amount of duplication at J.Crew Factory (of J.Crew retail) this season is crazy!

Have you received this email? Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are interested in? If so, please share!

  1. Got the email, perused the new items. I'm not interested in anything horse-related so they have lost me on that but I am very intrigued about the non-Skimmer slim wool ankle pant. A pair of camel wool pants has been on my "list" for a while. Will actually be at a store next week so hopefully they have some to try! (Still pouty about the lack of CHOCOLATE BROWN in terms of pants & skirts. What I wouldn't give for a pair of wool Minnies or Winnies in brown!)

    1. Taylor, I was just looking at those non-skimmer pants as well. I wonder what the retail equivalent of these pants is? I have been looking for a new pair of charcoal grey pants. The skimmer pants don't fit me right at all so I'd be curious to try these out.

    2. If I find them in-store next week I'll do try-ons & post to IG to let you know! :) I couldn't figure out a retail equivalent either - I like the 29" inseam though.

  2. unrelated: a few items hit j. crew sale this morning: I see the skinny-stripe sweatpants ($49.99), crystal spike necklace ($109.99), radiant necklace ($89.99), crystal hive necklace ($99.99), petal droplet necklace ($99.99), and crystal stone cluster necklace ($99.99).

but with no extra percentage off sale right now, they don't seem worth it - why bite the bullet if we'll probably get an extra percentage off sale in the next few days? (well, hopefully.)

  3. You can use the CardPerk code on the new arrivals that are already discounted too. Ordered the horse sweatshirt and cardigan and the city coat. The city coat came down to $119 with all the discounts.

  5. I just knew those horse sweatshirts would show up at factory as popular as they were. Don't need them since I already have them both but those shoes are pretty cute!

    1. I think the reissued herringbone vest became more expensive after the first day, because they realized there was a lot of demand. For most items though, it's better to wait.

  9. Alexis, I feel the same way about the merino scarf sweater. I stalked it and finally grabbed it on an extreme popback recently and now it shows up in Factory.

Sorry to hear you never received your birthday coupon code. I'll be glad to honor the 20% discount and free shipping on your next order. You can simply place the order online and reply to this email with your new order number. We're not able to apply the birthday promotion in-store.

  11. I missed out on the retail horse sweatshirts. By the time I decided I wanted one, they were all sold out. I was very happy I was able to snag one this time! I also like this version of the houndstooth and the funnelneck sweaters, but I'm wishlisting those. I feel like they may go down in price.

  12. I have found the factory sweatshirt material really feels cheap compared to retail. It's factory quailty....not even close to the retail IMO....sorry..

  13. So many reruns! I too have both retail versions of the horse sweatshirt, and the tweed sweater, and the drapey swing tee, and the merino scarf sweater...

I'm excited about the merino pocket tunic though. I didn't grab that last fall. I also like the city coat and the chance to get a houndstooth sweater.

  14. I purchased the Gallop Sweatshirt in Grey and it's a little thinner than the retail one but still ok for the price. In the wash as we speak since I like my clothes to smell like clean laundry. Very glad J crew issued this item since I waited too long to buy the sweatshirt in grey. I bought the navy instead but really wanted the grey too!

    1. One more thing I found out about pricing descrepencies ...The Gallop sweatshirt is currently $40.50 but the in store price is $46.40 with the discount. The SA said that they can't honor the $40.50 price since it's a different transaction, etc....He said that even though it's a little more expensive in the store, the customer can try the item on and feel the fabric, etc. They did, however let me use my teacher discount so it came out to be $2 less than the on line price. Go figure....

    2. Sorry, I meant to write that the sweatshirt is $46.40 AFTER the discount.

    3. Hi Wendy! Whats the sizing like on the factory version? Do you think it runs larger than the retail version?

    4. Krista-Rae,
I have the retail version in the Navy (XS) and that one fits like how an XS should. The sleeves on the factory version is about .5 inches longer than the retail one. But overall, I think it fits TTS. I did wash and dry it and now it's similar to the retail version. In short, get your regular J Crew size. Sorry for being verbose. HTH!

  15. As others have said in the past, I love when factory does repeats of things I missed-don't love it when they do items I already own ;) I ordered two sizes of the gallop sweatshirt, one of each color-hope the one I like better ends up being the one in the right size.

  16. I tried on some Factory items recently.

The Gigi pant and the Leather-Stripe Gigi pant were both nice. I have not ever bought the Pixie pants because the high/tight/scratchy waistband was uncomfortable on me. I would wear either of these Gigi pants, though. The Leather-Stripe ones were more comfortable because they don't have a waistband. I wish the regular Gigi pants had that waist style. The regular Gigi pants had an inset waistband that was wide and comfortable. The Leather-Stripe Gigi pants stopped right above my ankle; the regular Gigi pants were longer. I sized down in the regular Gigi pants but not in the Leather-Stripe Gigi pants. Maybe I could have also sized down in those, but the leather panels were not my style so I didn't try another size for fit purposes. Overall both of these ran larger than I expected. I bought the regular ones. They can be a bit bunchy at the bottom if you are shorter like me. Nothing that couldn't be fixed with a hem, although the length was better when I went down a size.

The Funnelneck Sweatshirt is fantastic and just like last year's as far as I can tell. Pockets! The Acropolis Blue color is new this year. My regular size fit, but I like it slouchier and layered so I went up a size. It's probably too big but I don't care. It probably runs TTS, maybe a bit big.

Tried on the Geometric Graphic Merino sweater, but did not love. Nothing wrong with it, I guess it just didn't do anything for me. I thought the retail one was nicer. Also tried on the three-quarter-sleeve tipped Peter Pan collar tee. It was nice, not my style though.

I saw the pocket tunics but did not try on. Could not tell if the pockets were leather or pleather. The web site didn't say.

I saw all the horse things (except the shoes) and they all looked nice. I'm not into horses, but if I were I would be in heaven with this rollout.

There are still jewels on shirts and sweaters and sweatshirts. Wasn't wowed by the jewelry. The Addie printed loafers (black and tan stripe) were nice and I liked the camo Addies too. Didn't see any winter coats.

There were no herringbone excursion vests. Sizes are gone in some colors (burgundy color), but there were plenty of black and navy, some bisque and some camo.

  17. I read somewhere that retailers have been creating designs and prints each year in conjunction with the animals of the Asian zodiac calendar to boost sales in the Asian market. So since 2014 is the year of the horse, that's why we saw all the horse prints last fall/winter in preparation for 2014. Likewise, snakeskin was prevalent the previous year for 2013's year of the snake. 2015 is the year of the sheep. I wonder how designers will be incorporating this motif, other than through the obvious wool or sheepskin. Will we be seeing tessellated sheep prints on buttondowns, much like the owl print silk shirt from last year? Or jumping sheep on sweatshirts? My ideas are kind of cheesy, but I'm curious to see if retailers will keep up the trend and how they will make it cool for this coming year. I'm intrigued by how they will execute the year of the rat, though that's not for a couple more years, but I'm guessing they might produce cute mice-like prints instead.

    1. That's a very interesting point about retailers coming up with designs to coincide with the Chinese zodiac. Never thought of that before!
