Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  2. Anyone familiar with Boden sizing? I'm going to a warehouse sale in western Mass. this weekend and while I've reviewed their size chart, I'd love to hear "real world" comparisons of the size people wear in J.Crew versus Boden. Thanks!

    1. AJLinBoston, I run a Boden Weekly Review Roundup (been going on since 2011, I believe). Anyhow, there are a ton of us that review/wear Boden on our blogs and I compile a lot of those reviews/ootds on a regular basis. Once upon a time I used to do it weekly, but now it is closer to twice a month, but the Boden Bi-weekly Review Roundup doesn't sound as awesome. LOL.

Here's a link to the BWRRs.
I also host a Boden Reviews tab on the blog where women who don't necessarily have a blog can write up reviews (or post photos) as they see fit. All the ones on there currently have already made their way to the BWRR, but they do come in every so often, and will be there until the next BWRR is published. To see the most current reviews at the tab, click to see "newest" on the disqus toolbar in the comments section.

      Hope that helps.

FWIW, I wear a size 4/xs in J. Crew tops and typically wear a size 4 or 6 in Boden. I wear a size 8-10 in J. Crew pants/shorts and wear the same in Boden (but more often a 10). I wear a 6 in J. Crew dresses (unless it is a straight cut and then I wear an 8). In Boden, I tend to wear 6 or 8, but will size up to a 10 if need be. Overall Boden runs a touch smaller than J. Crew. (Not too much, though.) I think Boden's shoes run very wide and sometimes long. I should wear a 41 but often end up wearing a 40.

I find the long sizing great from Boden since I am 5'8". The skirts hit right at the knee, as do the dresses. :)

    3. Thanks Dina, this is helpful! I'll take a look at your review pages. I will definitely share about the sale afterward, it seems like they run a few a year in random locations.

  3. Okay, Boden started a 30% off tops, knitwear, and jackets/coats promo this week. It should go until next Sunday. :-)

I didn't really highlight it on the blog, but I did write it up over at my FB page at this posting .
